Rendering Live Type Timeline

everytime i change anything in my timeline, it has to be re-rendered. ( the red comes up ). Do i need more ramm or what. it's very frustrating.
please help

Generally, if something requires rendering, indicated by a red line on your timeline, then you will have to render it every time you move it, even if you have already rendered it.
But there could be several reasons as to why it is requiring you to render as well...for example, you may be working on a DV video (standard definition), but your FC settings are set up for HDV (high definition), or vise versa, which would require rendering every time you do something. Additionally, it could be your system, where, like you said, it may need more RAM, or the processor might be too slow.
Like the previous poster said, I would look into the tutorials. However, Apple's tutorials are very basic and don't run through every aspect of the program. I would suggest looking into Total Training's "Final Cut Pro 5: The Essentials", and that will help you a lot.

  • Why does my rendered Live Type movie look bad

I created some lower thirds using Live Type, then I imported them into FCP. When I edit them onto my timeline it looks really bad (not sharp)...why?

I did not realize the canvas shows a low res image. that is not too comforting though.
You're new, obviously. We all were at one time or another. Your Canvas is a small window inside the interface of your editing application running on a computer screen. You can think of it like the page preview function in Photoshop, it's an approximation; you won't really know what your page is going to look like till you print it. But with lots of experience, you begin to be able to predict what various filters and effects will look like on different types of paper stocks on different printers.
    njs21 wrote:
When it is all done rendering and exporting it will be high res?
Maybe. Depends on how you've got your rendering settings sets set up. Generally, yes, if you read that part of the manual carefully and follow the steps. But you won't know till you've gone all the way to your output format and evaluated your work on your final media's display.

  • Rendering LIve Type on FCP

I created many comments on LIveType then render to movies. I imported to FCP. I put all to timeline. I move it wherever I want to make that point. It took hours to render. Then I move one livetype to other place then rest of them move back to the point where i remove the clip of livetype. Cause all livetype render. It leads hours hours to render. Is there a way to avoid?

What Patrick means is that FCP's rendering is destructive. Or, rather, it's constructive. If you put something on top of another track, you must render it to see it in real time. If you move one of the parts of the combined tracks, of course it has to re-render because the relationships have changed.
You avoid re-rendering by learning how to use all kinds of shortcuts and workflow enhancements. Those take time and practice. Don't render till you're ready or use a lower quality render setting till you're ready to finalize.
THese things cannot be handled in these little posts. They are the subjects of many tutorials and long articles.

  • How to add Live Type in the external editor windows?

I was just refreshing myself by one of the FCP dvds from magent media where Even Schechtman show his window of External Editors in System Settings.
I have the latest FCP version but that line which reads "Live Type" in external editor window is missing. Though he didnt discuss anything on the dvd but made me curious of my observation.
How Can I add Live Type message box which can be checked in External editor Window?
    Thanks

This is something specific to FCP4.x ... it does not appear in FCP5.x
Final Cut Pro HD: LiveType does not appear in the External Editors tab
Under some circumstances, the External Editors tab (choose Final Cut Pro HD > System Settings) in Final Cut Pro HD does not display a setting for "LiveType Movie Files."
This can happen if you installed Final Cut Pro HD from a new Final Cut Pro HD disc, as opposed to installing it from an upgrade. If you upgraded from Final Cut Pro 4 to Final Cut Pro HD, you will not have this issue. If you upgraded from an earlier version of Final Cut Pro using an upgrade disc, you will not have this issue.
You can still add LiveType files to the timeline even if LiveType does not appear in the External Editors tab. The behavior may be slightly different, depending on whether you add a LiveType project file or a LiveType movie file to the Timeline.
If you add a LiveType project file (for example, MyProject.ipr) to the Timeline and then choose to open it in an External Editor, the file will open automatically in LiveType as a LiveType project.
If you add a rendered LiveType movie file to the Timeline and then choose to open it in an External Editor, the file will open in the Editor you've selected for Video Files (in the External Editors tab) or in QuickTime Player if none is selected.
In summary, "LiveType Movie Files," only appears if you upgrade to Final Cut Pro HD from an earlier version of Final Cut Pro 4. It is not required in the External Editors beacuse a LiveType project file will automatically open in the LiveType application and a movie rendered from LiveType will automatically open in QT Player.

  • Live type render movie issue

This goes out to you Live type gurus.  I have a 6 second animation with video.  It renders in the timeline fine but when I "render movie" the finished product only shows about half of the total project. eg it stops half way through the entire clip.  I've tried starting from scratch and it still does the same thing.  Only half of it gets rendered.  I have a full retail copy of Final Cut Studio 7.   Thanks and I hope MikeyBouchereau is listening...he answered my last post quite well.

It's actually FInal Cut Studio 3 (Final cut Pro 7), and Livetype is no longer supplied as part of the Studio package. That's what Motion is for now...
In regards to only playing half, check your in and out points.

  • Sizing problems w/ live type

how come when i set up a title in live type using the animated live fonts, the size comes out too small (and different from how i set it in live type) when its fully rendered and in my movie?

You're doing something wrong at the import stage.
If you have not altered the default project and rendering settings in LT, the movie will be normal sized and using the Animation codec.
You do not need to render the movie in LT, try importing the .ipr project file directly to your timeline. If it's still the wrong size, you deliberately have changed your default project size. Put it back how it's supposed to be. See the manual, it's complicated.

  • Final cut crashes when Live Type credit is added

    Hi
I have FCP HD 4.5 A while back it kept crashing on me whilst opening, so I stopped using it. Tried it again over the weekend and it loaded, success! Cut a project together without any issues, but now when I try to add Live Type credits (not my forte) FCP crashes. Have tried dragging credit from the desktop and the regular import file option, but each time it crashes instantly. In the case of dragging the credit icon into FCP, it crashes the moment the icon touches the timeline. I'm relatively new to FCP but I'm fairly sure I haven't done anything different to my other projects.
Any help with this matter would be greatly received
    Oz

    Hi Adrenaline Crew
Thanks for the tip. Basically I wasn't rendering the credit first, just saving it to my desktop and dropping it into the film. I guess that was coursing the problem (sure I had started doing that before and all was well) Once rendered, and saved, like you said as diff, credit dropped into the project just fine.
Thanks again for your time. Now I suppose I have to get on with my work
    Cheers friend

  • Live Type graphics interfering with audio on playback to output monitor

New to Mac, so bare with me.
When I drop live type graphics in timeline and play with the built in audio, plays fine. When I output it to mini dv to record via firewire, and hit play the audio is fine till the timeline marker goes past the end of the graphic, then the audio drops out for a few seconds, then its o.k. again. This happens on every graphic, no exceptions. Now the audio is coming through the NTSC speakers.
Funny thing though, we I play back the recorded tape, the audio plays fine.
The audio also plays fine on the built in speakers. Onlu when outputted to firewire to the mini dv.
    This is very annoying.
    Can someone help please?
Using a LaCie 500 gig firewire drive, via the 800 firewire port.
    Thanks

Not to be ignorant ha ha.
How do I mix down the audio? Do you think that if I hit play on the timeline and then hit record on dv, that might work?
Will give that a shot though!
    Thanks,Jerry

  • PDF File Size - Live Type with Flattened Images

I am looking for a way to Export my PDF to include live type but flatten all other imagery (like saving as a JPG).
I work on fairly large catalogs - intended for print - that later need to be saved for web. The imagery is just too complex for the PDF to constantly be rendering every image element on every page of my catalog. These catalogs need to include that searchable text data & live links built within InDesign.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am currently on CS5.5, but hoping to upgrade soon. Thank you!

See this post: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/998458  If you want to make the file even smaller, adjust the compression settings to a lower resolution.

  • Live Type Background Issue

    good afternoon,
I am using Live type to create text and I want to place it and some images over a background.
I have created a file in Live type, selected a background, added a company logo and have been able to view my project with Live type as I want it.
But when I save it and drop it into my bin for Final cut pro, the background does not show up.
Any thoughts on what settings in FCP I need to change, or are there certain export settings in Livetype I need to be more aware of.
    thanks
    MIke

FYI there are 2 methods of rendering the background in LiveType.
    1) Click the Render Background Box in the LT Project Properties
    2) When Rendering a QT movie click the Render Background Box
Method 1 is preferable and if you follow that process then even if you're rendering out a movie...the Render Background Box will already be checked for you.

  • Media Missing in Live Type File Error Message

So I just upgraded to FCE 3.5 and have been playing around with LIve Type.
Yesterday I succeeded in making some titles with textured backgrounds etc. and getting them into FC. Today, I can still make the titles in Live Type, but when I import them into FC I get this message, in front of a purplish background, on the icon in the FC browser and when I drag the thumbnail into the viewer.
Media Missing in LIve Type File.
I have gone into project properties in Live Type and checked the "render background" box. I have also moved my media sequences above the background divider in the time line.
Nothing shows up in FCE, not even my text. But if I do a title with only text it shows up. If I include a texture and some effects, it does not show up. I just tried it with effects only and they show up. So it appears that it is a texture media problem. As soon as I open the text/effect title and add a texture, it comes up with this error in FCE.
My files for live type are on an external hard drive. it mounts fine. I can see all my titles fine in Live Type. They render fine. But don't show up in FCE.
I am working on a MacBook.
    Any help?

When I Render it it shows up, but only for a few seconds then it goes black for a few more seconds. This happens when I have my in and out points set in LT and check, render only between in and out points, it also happens when this box is not checked. So I don't get the full time of my title effect.
My problem is that I didn't have to render before, why do I have to go to the trouble to render now?
I don't have to render on my iMac, it just works there. No rendering or exporting required. ?

  • Live Type  How do you get a transparent background?

Im trying to create just text for FCP using Live Type, but no matter what I do when I export the Live Type movie, Its exporting with a black background. I went into the settings and changed everything around and tried everything. Opacity levels, render background, etc.. I either get the color I choose or black when it should be transparent. I know there has to be a way to just creat text with no background. Much help needed!

When you render your movie, make sure you don't have the "render background" box checked.
Once your movie is rendered it is displayed with text over a black backgournd but rest assured when you put your rendered .mov text into Final Cut it will have an alpha channel and not a black background.

  • Live type - artifacts some times

I have a half dozen live type titles all developed from the same basic set of elements- only differeing in the language on the titlesThe first set i place weeks ago they are all fine, this week i simply copied them and pasted them in another area of the video i am working on and 2 out of 6 of them when rendered showed interlacing lines.
I deleted them and readded them directly - still interlace lines - anyone have any ideas about this?

When I upgraded to LiveType 2, I thought I could skip installing the LT media discs, after all the files are already installed, right. Afraid not -all my LT media was deleted. I dragged a few folders from my backup across, to find that they did not work in LT 2.
    My conclusion:
The .afp files are only compatible with version 1.x of LiveType.
Version 2 must use the .ltlf files.
As to why some of your afp files work yet others don't, I'm am not sure.
Are you familiar with FontMaker (in LiveType's "File" menu)? Maybe that could be used to convert the afp files.

  • Live Type Textures and Background

Does anyone know why when I import my live type titles, the background or textures do not transfer over into Final Cut Express? The fonts and the effects work, but the background does not transfer?
    Thanks for your help!

As Da Nam has pointed out you just need to check a little box next to "Render Background"
If you are Rendering a Movie then when doing so a little dialogue plate comes up and you can check the box next to "Render Background"
If you are using the Live Type project directly then the box is in your Project Properties. In this case while you are in Live Type hit cmd-zero, and when the Project Properties plate comes up check the box next to Render Background.
