Rendering menu video asset: not starting at top level

When I start to burn a DVD on iDVD6.03, the rendering does not start at the top menu - it picks any sub-menu.
I removed iDVD incl. all files and reinstalled it - no change. Any advice ?

I had the same problem. I've more or less convinced myself that if you use a video for the autostart that is also in one of your sub-menus, then the burned DVD will mistakenly "return" to that sub-menu after it plays the auto-start.
This is a bug.
This is not 100% reproducible, so I'm not sure what magic makes it not happen. It almost always happens.
Workaround is to make a copy of the video outside iDVD and include it twice, so that they look distinct to iDVD. Fine for shorts I suppose.
iDVD 6.0.3 with the Lines theme.
Preview exhibits the correct behavior, so it must be some problem with laying out the menu navigation during mastering.

DVD/TS will not burn - error with rendering menu video asset?

This 5-minute slideshow takes 45 minutes to prepare, then "could not burn", yet on my MacBook, a 10-minute slideshow took 3 minutes with flawless rendering/processing (granted I only had the 2 songs and 60 pics or so on my computer, not like my dumping ground iMac). I've spent 3 nights troubleshooting this. I have reinstalled Snow Leopard and repaired disk permissions. There are no yellow triangle/yield/error signs in the project.

Your comment about "dumping ground" suggests the hard disk may be too full. Even with a small project, you need a fair amount of space on the boot drive (your main hard disk) for iDVD to do all the processing. If you're under 10 gigs of available space, it may cause some trouble -- some around here recommend 15-20 gigs of free space when you're burning a DVD.

Unerwartetes Erscheinen des Front Panel eines SubVI beim Start der Top-Level-Application

Beim Starten meiner Top-Level-Application erscheint sofort das Front Panel eines Dialog-SubVI, welches eigentlich über die entsprechende Menüauswahl angewählt werden soll. Das passiert nur, wenn sich das SubVI im Speicher befindet. Das unerwünscht erschienene Front Panel zeigt dabei nicht die normale Fuktionalität, lediglich das Schliessen des Fensters ist möglich. Dabei verschwindet das VI jedoch komplett aus dem Speicher (sowohl Front Panel als auch Block Diagram). Danach lässt sich der Menüpunkt anwählen und der Dialog läuft normal.
Befindet sich das SubVI beim Start der Top-Level-Application nicht im Speicher, läuft alles normal.

Es könte sein, dass die Eigenschaften für das Sub-VI auf "Öffnen wenn geladen" oder was ähnliches gesetzt ist.
Schau nach, ob die ganze "Fenstererscheinungsbild" Eigenschaften wie gewöhnt eingestellt sind. Zu beachten ist auch, dass die Sub-VIs individuell im Block Diagram andere Eigenschaften zugeweisen werden können (Rechtsklick auf der Icon im Block diagram)...
Ich hoffe, dass ich damit ein wenig helfen könnte

EA3500 youtube video does not start or very slow to start

my ea3500 has problems with youtube videos. When i click to start a video, sometimes it starts but after a very long buffering time (more than 8-10 seconds), sometimes it does-not at all some other time, the advertisement play but nothing happens after that (black screen). I have a fast internet access (30 MB up, 2 Mb down). I do not have this problem with the old router that the ea3500 is replacing ( a netgear wndr3700). On this old router al the videos are starting almost instantly.
I tried to lower the MTU of the 3500 from the default 1500 to 1400. No improvement.
I tried to disable the WMM feature in QOS and by doing so i create another problem : i cannot access the 5 Ghz band anymore. I can see the SSID but cannot connect to it.
Anybody having an idea on how to resolve this ?

♦ a 5Ghz compatible adapter on the PC : I use an Intel 5100 adapter on my laptop that do both 2.4 and 5 Ghz. I use the 5Ghz band on my laptop and the main family PC that is connected with a netgear WNDA4100 N900 adapter. All the other PCs(5 in all) use 2.4Ghz . After disabling Wmm in QOS, i was not able to connect the 2 PCs using the 5Ghz band . They could connect using the 2.4 Ghz SSID though. Re-enabling Wmm allowed me to use 5Ghz again.
I have the Youtube problem on both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz band. As i said when i reconnect my old netgear router, no problems at all.

I am trying to solve the issue with Youtube. Unfortunately I cannot.
The problem is that in Toshiba Cloud everything works, application is visible. When I enter I can search videos, I can pair it with my laptop, but I cannot see any movies. Zero, nothing. When I try, there is only a title, some information about the clip but it does not start.
I restarted tv, the same issue was 24 hours before without having TV plugged to electricity, also putting google dns did not help.
Do you know any solution?

Video clips not starting at scene breaks

When exporting to iMovie5, video clips did not start at each scene break. I checked Preferences and "start a new clip at each scene break" was activated. In "Help" it suggested I reset the time on the camera. It had the correct date, but was off by 1 hour. I reset the camera time and test exported a portion of the original video, but still not breaking at the different scenes. I do have 4 very large clips, and will proceed by "splitting at the playhead", but this is onerous and not conducive to effective editing. Any other steps I may take to get clips out of the existing video?

Sorry for not responding earlier, away until now. The video I imported into iMovie was straight from the camera. Shot as normal with each individual scene recorded. More than one scene may or may not have been shot in any given sequence, before the camera was shut-down. Each scene would have had its individual timecode, but they were not recognized by iMovie. I had 4-clips when there should have been over 100. The camera is a Canon, digital video camcorder (Optura) and imported via firewire. It's a mystery.

Mx:MenuBar rollover not changing at top level

I have rather a simple question, I am using the mx:MenuBar and trying to change the hover over color on the top level menus using
rollOverColor = "" but I still get the blue hover over shading behind the menu text. Any ideas on how to change this property of the mx:MenuBar ????

Front panel of a vi pops up when i start my top level vi how can i stop this

i have a vi that whos front panel should display when the user clicks a front panel button(test instructions),
however this vi pops up when i run the top level vi. I can manually close the vi, but how do i stop this?
i tried modifying the Sub VI Set up properties, but that doesnt work.

Hi jknapp,
As egraham has pointed out, you can customize the window appearance of your sub VI from the VI Properties. If you go to File » VI Properties, then under Category select Window Appearance and then Customize..., you should be able to control how the sub VI appears. Hope this helps!

Video Assets Not Working

Hey guys, I'm trying to set a default FInal Cut video file (h.264) as an asset in a menu, but it seems the video turns blank when I simulate. Audio plays but the video is blank. When I try to burn, the program freezes when it is encoding assets. It seems this problem began after upgrading to Leopard. Below I have some step by step pictures of what I see.
Lets see who knows how to fix this problem! (Final Cut 4.5/DVD studio Pro 3)

Best way is to compress as m2v from Final Cut to Compressor or other encoder and bring the m2v in as a background, do not use H.264. Also FCP 4.5 and DVD SP 3 probably will have issues with Leopard I would guess.

I have a Mac Air. When I go to view any video online (youtube for example)and click on a video, I get the space where the video should play but there is just a black screen and no play button and the video does not start. Any ideas?

Music Videos Do Not Start At The Beginning

I have transferred about 8 music videos onto my ipod but they dont start at the beginning - they start about 30 secs into the song and i have to skip back to see the start. Is there a setting that i have missed that would solve this?
Any help would be appreciated.

Highlight the video, do a "Get Info" (right click to see it) and under the options tab check and see if the start time is checked and set to 30 seconds. If so, deselect it to play from the beginning. Also check and see if the "remember playback position" box is checked which will start the selection at the last place you left off (useful for audio books, long podcasts, etc. Not so much for music and short videos).

Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

How to start Top-Level Navigation on Level two?

does anyone known a trick how i can start the top-level navigation at Level two?
I make an own frameworkpage and try to set it in the iview properties, but there is not an property for this. it is only for the detailed-navigation iView there.
For what:
I need this, because i would open an pop-up with an other portal window. I link to the popup with navigation-target=... In this pop-up should only be the content of one role. This folder i have set to "invisible in the navigation area". So the User always see him in a popup. when i start at the default Top-navigation level 1, the user see all the other navigation folders.

Hi Patrick,
up to SPS13, this needs some hands on on different parts of the TLN. What I've done this spring was showing all top-level nav targets within a select box in the masthead and then, after having selected one of these entries, the TLN shows just the content of this top level entry. So this is more or less the same. As said, some work to do.
As of SPS14, with the new navigation taglib, I expect this to be much less work; anyhow, I didn't convert the results into SPS14, so I cannot say if this is really as easy as I expect.

If my understanding is correct, you want to populate a table as below.

"Layer 1 does not start with a new cell" replicator error

Hi All,
I recently sent a dual layer +R DVD off to our replication house and their system is returning a message that says: "Layer 1 of DVD-Video does not start with a new cell".
I know from reading that the dual-layer breakpoint must be set to the end of a cell, but what does the word "cell" translate into for DVDSP4?
I had the DVD DL+R set to Automatic and Non-Seamless for output for the break point. Should I just try setting the break point manually at the beginning or ending of a track that would be dubbed as just a little more than half the size of the content? (I know in OTP, the Layer 0 has to be bigger than Layer 1)

Eric, I am currently exporting DDPs to send in to the replicator. I also emailed them asking if they accept this format for delivery. (Which I would hope they would, as it is, an answer to DLT of sorts) Thanks for bringing this up, DDP is new to me, as this is our first DL project for replication.
Drew, to answer your reply, yes I have two viable markers (chapter markers) that show up in black, not grayed out, in the tab you mentioned under formatting. I chose manual break point selection for this last disc I burned and chose chapter 4 of that track. (chapter 4 and chapter 5 of track 6 are only options) I have to assume that the "automatic" setting was selecting chapter 5, as it had to see that as the last viable marker available to select, as described in the DVDSP4 manual.
DVDSP4 says that all markers are considered cells- Or actually that tracks are cells and that the markers within them make up more cells. So my question, outside of DDP option, would be, "what truly constitutes a cell boundary in DVDSP4?" Is it the markers within the tracks or the beginning or ends of the tracks themselves?
As a side note, I burned the disc that received the error, "Layer 1 doesn't start with a new cell" from an IMG i created from DVDSP4 through Disk Utility. Word is that IMG's somehow don't include breakpoint information.
So at this point I don't know if it is the IMG or the fact that DVDSP4 wants the break at one of two possible chapter markers in track 6.
(Some more background- this is a TV show season DVD, with thirteen tracks of video, each with 12-14 chapter markers a piece.)
Any more thoughts to help clear the air on what constitutes a true new cell boundary?
