Rendering out

Hello,
I am using AE CS 5.5. I created a composition 1440x 1080 that will be shown on closed citcuit TV. Its just animations of various graphics. No live action video. When I was done, I rendered it out, Quality: best, Resolution:full, size: 1440x 1080 etc. I was making it an AVI. Whe its rendered out, the file is huge and plays back choppy.  It also plays back choppy when I bring it into Premiere to edit.  I know there are some other articles about this, but can someone put it into terms people can understand and have it all in one spot?
What should the settings be so that it can be played back in Premiere and shown on an HDTV?
What if I wanted to render it out and play it in its own stand alone player like quicktime player?
What should the settings be for something that will be uploaded to You tube?
Thanks so much guys!

The answer to choppy playback lies within this link:

Use Adobe media Encoder to make that big ol' file into a 1280x720 file in H.264, which is also good for YouTube, I believe.

  • When I add my composition to the Adobe Media Encoder from After Effects, it renders out incorrectly?

Why is it that when I add my composition directly from after effects to the adobe media encoder, it renders out of the adobe media encoder incorrectly? By that I mean the video comes out a little scrambled- parts of it overlap other parts. Is this an issue with 'dynamic link'? Did I do something wrong? I'm working in CC.

I also don't understand what you are saying. What do you mean by "parts of it overlap other parts"? A screen shot might help.
What were your render settings in AME? (Format, Codec, data rate, etc.)
What is in your AE comp? If footage, tell us what format, codec, etc. Tell us what effects were used too.
What exact version number of AE CC are you using?

  • Rendering out 16:9 native clips from Color

    Hi,
This may be a silly question...but I sent my project from Final Cut Pro 6 to Color -- footage was shot on an XL-2 at 16:9 with an advanced pull down (removed). So my timeline is DV-NTSC anamorphic 23.98 fps. Color recognizes the frame rate, but not the pixel ratio -- there is no output setting in the render queue for DV-NTSC ANAMORPHIC 16:9. Should I be rendering out at a custom 853x480 to achieve the correct results?
    Thanks!
P.S. I should add that I tired rendering one clip at the normal DV-NTSC 720x480 setting and it came out squished into a 4x3 frame, as expected.

I don't know of a way to do it for all the clips, but 400 should only take you a few minutes.
Another option: Create an non-anamorphic sequence, edit in the shots, and then at the very end change it to an anamorphic sequence in the sequence settings. If you want to add more clips to the sequence, you'll have to go back to sequence settings and uncheck anamorphic.
Come to think of it, can you just go into the settings of the sequence you got from Color and change it to Anamorphic?

  • Hard stuttering occurring in H.264 renders out of AE CS5

    Hi There,
This problem just started ocurring, and I'm not sure how to troubleshoot the problem.  It may be related to some OSX upgrade, but it is incredibly annoying.
I have a 60 second animation with most of the source footage being Targa sequences that I exported out of my 3D graphics application.  When I RAM preview my final composition in AE, everything looks great, syncing is fine, etc.   However, when I render the composition with the H.264 codec, and play it back on Quicktime there is an extreme amount of stuttering all throughout the animation--during fast moving parts and slow moving parts.  I've done some reading online here and at Creative Cow and most people say its related to the codec, but it just started ocurring.  I've rendered out to H.264 without this issue.  I'm wondering if there was a switch I set that is causing the problem?  Has anybody ever experienced this with H.264?  When I render out to Animation it's okay, but I simply cannot deliver that file to my client for review since it is so hefty.
Has anybody come across this issue?  I'm running OSX Lion 10.7.3 with 8GB of RAM with a 2.66Ghz Intel Core i7.
Thank you for you time and help!

RAM preview is not comressed to H.264 so of course it willplay perfectly.
H.264 is REALLY compressed but playing it back requires some beefy processor, especially if you're trying to do full 1080HD. As Dave says, go to Aniation and use AME to do the transcode. This has many benefits but mostly you're using a compressor applicaiton to do the compressing. And you have a completely perfect copy of the project form which you can create new copies in any codec or format. You cannot easily , for instance, use AME to move form the H.264 to WMV.
Brings up another question: why are you using H.264 at all? I'm asking because 90% of the answers we see to that question are incorrect from a technical point of view and inappropriate from a workflow POV.

  • File size limitation - rendering out anim codec QT in CS5?

I'm currently having a problem rendering out a composition.  The composition is roughly 4000 frames (HD 720p60).  I rendering out the scene using quicktime, using the animation codec and if I render out the whole sequence the file size seems to stop growing at 2.15GB and the file is unrecognized by Quicktime; says it's not a movie.  If I make a smaller subset of the same composition; say frames 1-1000, the file is about 1.99GB in size and will play in Quicktime.
I tested this out further by rendering out all 4000 frames as individual tif frames and reading them into my co-workers CS3 AE and then making a movie (animation codec) and it works ~ 6.6GB file.  Works both on his machine and mine.
Is there a limitation in CS5 AfterEffects that doesn't allow for files greater than 2.15GB.  If so, it's going to really mess up my workflow.  By the way, I'm running this on a 2 x 2.93 Quad-core Intel Xeon; 16GB Ram, NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800.  Running AE in 64-bit mode.
    Any ideas!?!?!

    > Perhaps submitting bug reports/complaints to Apple as well as the feature-request/bug-report form for Adobe will help?
Both are a good idea. If we get more bug reports, then we can get a better sense of how many people are hit by this and either a) elevate the issue more with Apple or b) bite the bullet and engineer some workaround (though I don't know exactly what that would be).

  • Premiere CS4 movies rendering out at 30fps but scene set up is 25fps

    Hi,
I am scratching my head here, I am rendering out animation movies from Premiere Pro CS4 and the scene is set up to UK Pal 1024x576 custom set up to 25fps, however whenever I render out WMV, Quicktimes or sequencial frames the QT properties on any movie always say 30fps,
how can this be, is there anywhere else a option for 30fps might be hidden from view,
    Kind Regards
    Mark Miles

    Hi Jeff,
Basically if I try to import any of the 3d rendered projects I have created over the past 7 yers into a Custom scene in Premiere set to 25fps, it always looks at the files as 29.7 fps, even thougth the project file is set to 25fps,
If I go to file interpret footage its default is set to "get fps from file" however there must be some flaw somwhere as none of my work has been rendered at 29.7fps, all files have forever been rendered at 25fps
I have recently migrated over from Premiere 6.5 and have never had this problem in all 7 years of using Premiere, I just think that any uk users using 25 fps footage must have to always manually interpret the footage in the software and specify a fps as Premiere must have an issue in detecting 25fps footage..
I know that sounds highly unlikely, and I was going to call Adobe UK later today to square this up.
    Cheers
    Mark

  • Video clips in comps are not rendering out of render cue?

First time poster here... new to the forum.
I previous successfully created a show title sequence using a template where I chose to right click on the image placeholder and choosing set proxy file to the new video that replaces the template image.
All is well when previewing, video files play embedded in the comps, and look great but when I go to render out the .mov file the video disappears from the file leaving only the text and effects.
I figured out a solution about 6 weeks ago that enabled me to complete the first title sequence but am having trouble again and cannot recall exactly how to repeat the solution.
    Any thoughts?

I am replying to my own post... different user name because I could not get into my other account.
    Two solutions:
    1. I found an old text I sent to a friend where I found the previous solution.  In the render settings the default box is checked "use no proxies" so that is why the video files were not rendering out. Uncheck that box and you're good.
    2. Open the comp in Adobe Media encoder and render it out there... preview window shows proxies being embeded in preview window!
Hope this helps someone new to After Effects from banging their head against the wall in the future.
    Cheers,
    Bronson

  • AECS3 rendering out choppy footage

i have a short quicktime movie i edited and put some effects in AE, it was shot at 24pn, but when i render it out it plays choppy....i'm on an intel mac using leopard, the .mov file is only 640x360, looks like the bit rate is at 8 on the composition and the resolution is set to auto
i notice it plays choppy on ram preview (which i assumed was supposed to do that anyway) and renders out exactly the same way.
my last mac was almost 2GHZ slower and spit out these files just fine.
    quality and audio are perfect.
    can someone help?

i have AECS3...whats an unqualified version of an intel Mac??? what is Rosetta??
i downloaded a couple of mov files form apple and it plays fine.
also a friend took the same mov file i'm having trouble with and he said he had no issues, he's on a PC version of AECS3
could it be the way the video is encoded? i noticed when i tried to convert the same mov files to an flv using flash cs3 video encoder it plays choppy as well

  • 3D effect with color burn not rendering out. Please help.

    Hello,
I am rendering out a 3D effect using an adjustment layer with stroked lines. I have the transfer mode on these lines set to "classic color burn" because it's the look that I want. However when I render the effect out, the lines are almost invisible in the final render. I also have some lights in the scene and am using 3D element with a 3D object. Could the lights be causing a problem? I will attach a photo of the scene before and after render. Thanks in advance for any help!
    John Grosjean
Here are the pics. In the second set the rings almost disappear completely.

We can't know. We don't know the exact settings you used in the timeline nor any other details like what version of AE, what system and so on, since you haven't bothered to provide them. From your shapes not being properly pre-composed to issues with 3D render order and collapsed transformations there could be anything going on. We simply don't know based on your insufficient info.

  • Rendering out of phase (pixelated). How can I fix it?

Equipment: Canon Vixia HF20 (set to MXP) and Kodak Zi8 (set to 1080) Alienware M-18x  - i7-2860QM @250GHz – 16 GB ram – Windows 7 Professional Service pack 1 (with all recent updates installed.) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M (with latest drivers and updates installed.)
    Premiere Elements 12 (Expert mode)
Canon is used for the main picture. Kodak is used for smaller “picture in picture” on top of main picture.
Preset in Premiere Elements 12:  NTSC-AVCHD Full HD 1080i-30
I have used this same camera/Premiere Elements setup with success in Premiere Elements 8 and 10.
When the first video (Canon) is brought into Video 1 track it looks great and no orange render line appears. When the second video (Kodak) is placed in the Video 2 track, resized, and placed in the lower right hand corner of the monitor panel (on top of Video 1) and I click outside of the bounding box it looks fine (as does the Video 1). The orange line then appears above both videos as normal.
The problem is when I render the videos they both become “out of phase,” pixelated, as if I had dragged their bounding boxes slightly one way or the other.
How do I get the videos to render properly so that I can upload the project to YouTube? (This was never a problem with Premiere Elements 8 or 10)
    Many thanks,
    Randall

The camera manual does not offer any clear information regarding interlaced or progressive.
Here is what information I have been able to obtain from other sources on the web:
<<As far as I can tell, I am recording in 1920 x 1080p (not interlaced). I have sent a question to Canon tech support, but they tout that the Canon Vixia HF20 records in full 1080p. I have the ability to set it to a 24p or 30p frame rate, and apparently, that records in 60i.>>
      another sources adds:
    <<My recording options are:
    - 60i
    - "PF30" which is described as "30 frames per second, progressive" but then it goes on to say "Using this frame rate, video is recorded as 60i"
    - "PF24" which is described as "24 frames per second, progressive. Using this frame rate will give your recordings a cinematic look." but then it goes on to say "Using this frame rate, video is recorded as 60i">>
My camera is set to the default "60i"
I installed the latest version of Quicktime
I added the tracks to the timeline as suggested above and used your method for adding PiP 25% LR.  When I rendered a section of the video, it was pixelated as mentioned above (no change.)
As I mentioned before, this was not a problem with either Premiere Elements 10 (Using this computer) or 8 (using another computer). The only reason I upgraded to Premiere Elements 12 was that Premiere Elements 10 would not work when I updated the video drivers and software.
    Many thanks for your help.

  • Zoom item renderer out of scroller boundaries

Hi everyone, hoping someone has the easy Answer.  I want to have an item renderer that can zoomIn and display outside the scroller boundaries for which it resides in.
    I have
    Scroller  set depth property =1
    |
    Datagroup (tile layout) depth=2
    |
custom zoomable LabelItemRenderer depth=3  (depth=4 when zooming in so it overlaps the other renderers in the datagroup) ....these tiles, when zoomed, will increase in size by 50%.
So in other words, the datagroup is wrapped in a scroller, and I extended the LIR to zoom.
If I take the scroller out of the picture, everything works great...if I zoom on an IR(tile) that is on the very border of the datagroups boundaries, it will display over the DG's boundaries so that the whole zoomed tile is shown.
Now if I wrap the DG in a scroller, the IRs will zoom, but any tiles on the boundary will get clipped by the boundary, like it is underneath the scroller.
I want a zoomed tile to display completely, even if that means overlapping the boundaries of the scroller.  Like I said, works great when the DG doesn't have a scroller wrapped around it.
    Is this possible?
I should add its a 4.6 mobile project.

    I don't use jbuilder

  • Fuzzy quality when rendering out in Premier Pro CS4

    Hi,
    Using Premiere PRO CS4.
Whenever I export a sequence, no matter what I choose; Quicktime, AVI, FLV etc all my renders are no longer sharp but look slightly out of focus.
I mainly need to expoert to AVI and Quicktime.
Can anyone please recommed settings to ensure the output files are as clear as the content in the Sequence before rendering?
Also, what are the best settings for AVI and Quicktime to keep the file size down?
A 5 minute AVI clip ends up being 1.5 GB, I'm sure the size can be reduced without loss of quality?
    Cheers

This ARTICLE will give you some background on the concept of "wrappers."
The bit-rate settings for the Export will definitely determine the quality of that output. However, as Harm points out, file size will go UP. The trick is to find the balance of quality vs file size.
Within those wrapper types, there are possibly CODEC's, that will give you more compression, but still with good quality. The choice of the CODEC will very likely hinge on exactly how you need to deliver the material. For instance, for streaming video, the DivX CODEC will offer heavy compression, but the quality is still quite good - however, one needs the DivX CODEC to playback the material. There is quite a bit to think about, and that's why Harm asked for your delivery scheme.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Transparent areas rendering out black, help!

    Hey guys,
I'm embarrassed to have to post this because it's something I have done numerous times correctly in the past, but somehow I've lost the ability to render out my transparent motion projects as transparent. Instead I am getting black filling the transparent areas. Where have I gone wrong with my settings? A quick refresher would be very appreciated.
    Thanks loads,
    Eddie

    1) You need to render to a codec that supports an alpha channel, like Animation+ or ProRes4444
    2) Or, don't render at all - if you are just rendering to bring your clip into FCP, bring the Motion project itself directly into Final Cut and place it above your video.

  • New To Premiere Pro - Rendering Out

    Hi Guys,
So I am new to Premiere Pro, so I am sorry for the easy question...
So I have set my in and out points, but every time I go to render just that section, it renders the whole sequence... does anyone have any ideas on what i am doing wrong?? I do not want to delete the rest of the sequence everytime i go and render just a small porition of the project... any suggestions on what to do... and how to accomplish my goal...
    Thanks
    Richard

Can you have multiple work bar's?? For example, if one segment is at the front of the clip and then a couple of mins later you want that piece in addition to the first segment but rendered together... Is that something possible??
