Rendering screws up my crops!

http://twitter.com/#http://twitter.com/#http://twitter.com/#http://twitter.com/#!/torbenscharling/status/131094136685211648
Why is it that every time I crop and render a clip inside Premiere Pro CS5.5, it never matches what I specified before rendering ?!
I'm just doing a simple project with a 1280x545 HDSLR custom preset, square pixels, cropping 1080p to match, after render pixels don't match, as you can see from the black empty part in the bottom of this image:

Ok, thanks - great to know!
Here's a better visual example of before/after render (I copy pasted the sequence into a new sequence with the settings below):

  • Rendering screws up track matte.

    When using track matte in PrP, rendering screws up the matte. Need to render. Clips 23.97 in 29.97 seq. Yikes!
    Unrendered on left. Rendered on right.

    Jim, its actually working quite well, tht is until I render it. Totally screws up the mattes as you can see from above. I was just hoping that PrP could handle such a simple thing on the timeline which makes my building and rebuilding much easier then going to AE.
    Avid can do it  :-)      (runs away cursing the track matte under his breath)

  • Cropping, aspect ratio

    most of my crops are set for custom.  i want an 8x10 print.  if i change the aspect ratio from custom to 4.5/8x10 it screws up my crop completely.  that means that i cannot upload to an online website, be printed automatically and have it come out the way it want.
    but can that custom crop image be printed 8x10 manually?

    i may have just answered my own ?
    i went into the print module of LR and checked each of my images and then printed one.  the result was my custom crop on an 8x10 sheet of paper with 1 3/4 inch borders top and bottom and 1/4 inch borders on each side.
    am new to the digital printing game.  without matting it does looks sort of weird. ideally am i supposed to be aiming for equal borders all the way around?
    i suppose that you would have to have it custom matted to make it look normal.

  • Model Binding and Calculated Field Syntax for "class" Attribute

    Hi,
    I tried to use the calculated field syntax from SAP UI5 to change the CSS class attribute of an element based on some model property, i.e., I wanted to change the class in the corresponding formatter function based on the currently bound value. However, my formatter function is not called. When I use the same syntax on a text attribute, it works.
    I also tried to use normal property binding, but it did not work on the class attribute either (it just put class="{property}" in the rendered HTML).
    Is there anything I missed or is it just not possible to use property binding and calculated field syntax for class attributes? Did anybody try something like this before?
    I think it is a standard use case to change the CSS class based on some model property. So, if anybody knows how to do that, could you give a short example?
    Best regards
    Svenja

    They have a class property. At least, I can do the following in an XML view:
    <Button
                  icon="sap-icon://add"
                  press="onButtonPress"
                  class="my-button-class" />
    I would expect the following to work as well, but for me it did not:
    <Button
                  icon="sap-icon://add"
                  press="onButtonPress"
                  class="{/customClass}" />
    This renders the following HTML (cropped to the important parts):
    <button type="button" class="sapMBtn {/customClass}">
    </button>
    It seems like the class attribute is something special although I don't see a reason why. Other HTML templating engines, for example, support things like that.

  • What is the correct project setting for a high definition slideshow?

    I'm using Premiere Elements 11 and when I drag my jpeg photos on the timeline, I see the orange line across them; when rendered, the photos are cropped.  The last time I successfully created slideshows was in PE 8 and I never had this problem!

    Please do not judge the photogenic quality of the slides I picked for these two slide show examples.
    The project setting is AVCHD 1080p60.
    https://vimeo.com/60952115 This is a 22 second video where, as a self training exercise, I tried the resizing suggestions from Bill, Steve and Ann in other threads on this same subject.  I found no improvement, or degradation, to quality or processing performance -- regardless of how I resized or didn't resize.
    https://vimeo.com/60904593 This is a 20 second, 6 random slide, video to verify resizing was not needed.  All  the slides were brought directly from my HDD into PrE11 with the "Add Media" function.  They are about 20MB each, in a Sony RAW format and original un-resized files.  There were no issues in the process.
    Although not demonstrated in these two videos, the Pan and Zoom feature in PrE11 works wonderfully on these un-resized photos.
    Vimeo allows you do download the actual .mp4 files I uploaded if you want to look closer as the product.
    It has been mentioned in other posts that resizing may well have been necessary in earlier versions of PrE and may still be needed if you lack a strong computer.  Nowhere, that I can find, is it mentioned as necessary or suggested in Adobe authored instructions or tutorials.
    Other than project presets or video driver issues I do not know why PrE11 slide shows work so well for me and cause problems for others.
    For Steve, Ann and Bill, can I provide screen shots of PrE11 settings or samples of anything via DropBox?

  • Strange dvd behaviour

    hey there,
    i just finished a dvd master that i did send out for duplication. i checked the quality of it on my dvd player (a panasonic sa pt 150) and on my powerbook. it looked good so i was happy.
    but when i got the dvds from the duplicator and checked it on the dvd player at a friends house, it all looked really, really bad!! all the fast moves in the edit jiggle and jump. same with the master dvd.
    on my dvd player both the master and the duplicated ones look good though!?
    to make things worth, i created a different dvd version for cinema screenings which i created from the same file. only difference is, that i put some subtitles on the file in FCP and then exported it and then encoded it with compressor with the same presets that i used for the other file that doesn't work.
    i am really confused now, as i don't know where the problem is that causes the one dvd to jiggle and the other one not to!?
    a other interesting thing to know is that on the 'bad' dvd are more films that work fine.
    thanks for your help
    andy

    i used the same presets in compressor for both files.
    the only difference is, that the cinema copy that works fine is im-and exported and rendered 2 times more than the one that causes trouble. (rendered for subtitles and crop)
    but even the 'bad' one is not encoded straight from the timeline. i exported a same as source QT and then encoded that one with compressor.

  • Re-rendering a cropped section

    I was thinking about re-rendering a section of a composition, like the upper right corner, to fix an issue. I would just overlay the fix onto the rest (maybe with a feather applied).. The renders are 1080p which will be downscaled to 720 and are high bitrate so i figure it should be ok.
    The comp is a template with a lot of layers of lighting, motion blur and 3D planes, extremely demanding... i guess AE will have to calculate the offscreen elements even with a crop. So is this realy going to make much of a difference in render time? the cropped region is 1/16th.
    I don't have AE in front of me now but i assume cropping a comp is as easy as crop in Photoshop, like setting a corner to align and punching in the dimensions...is this true?..am i going about this process the wrong way?
    thanks for any advice.

    The easiest thing to do would be to duplicate your comp then select the area you want to crop with the region of interest tool. Then all you have to do is right-click inside the region and select crop to region of interest. That's the way I would do it.
    There is a possibility that simply nesting your composition in a smaller one would give you some strange differences in motion blur and other things. It all depends on the composition setting. By using the crop to region of interest you'll end up with exactly the same comp that rendered your original footage.
    The other problem you may run into deals with compression. If you're using HDV or other video codec you will run into size problems. These bad boys only render two specific sizes. They are very testy when you try to do something outside of the norm. The best option, the only real option, is to render your project to a production codec like animation codec QuickTime's or photo JPEG at 95%.

  • Mask Crop Effect Working in Preview, but Not Rendering

    Machine: iMac
    Version: Premiere Pro CC 2014 - Updated this morning (1.27.15)
    Editing an interview where the camera operator shows up in a reflection.  To fix this, I grabbed an earlier shot without the camera person in that spot, looped the frames, placed it on a layer below the main footage, and cropped using a mask to let the looped footage show through (hiding the camera operator).
    This looks fine in the preview, but when I render the footage, the person is there again, as if the crop mask just went away.  I can't seem to correct this.
    Please help!
    Thanks.

    Richard,
    That was my first attempt this morning, but I was getting a weird effect: the cropped area was fine, but the entire bottom right quadrant of the screen was rendering the "cropped" footage as well.  When I couldn't get this to stop, I decided to try it the other way around.  I just added a bit of information that may be important: this footage is a multi-cam project.
    Thanks

  • Premiere Pro CS6: why is the crop effect altered after being rendered?

    So here's what's happening...
    I'm editing a project for work and I'm supposed to apply a widescreen (2.35:1) ratio to the main video; however, when I use the crop effect everything looks correct in my browser window. After being rendered the crop effect has been altered and no longer appears the same.

  • SaveFrameBookAsPdf using FDK11 gets the contents cropped to the top and right of the rendered PDF.

    Hi,
    I am using a method to Save Frame file as PDF using FDK 11 and this works fine. Currently, I have a requirement to Save the whole Frame book as PDF for which i am trying with the same method but the output is not accurate. Here's a clip:
    http://depositfiles.com/files/xqqnadc88
    This clip is made up of two clips on top of one another, Video 1 has a 50% right crop and Video 2 has a 50% left crop.  Video 2 crossfades into a clip of the scene with no actors in it which also has a 50% left crop.  I have had this issue on footage shot with two different cameras, one a Sony HD camcorder and the other a little Fujifilm point and shoot still camera with HD video capabilities.  Perhaps "randomly" is the wrong word to use though because I have tried recreating this and other scenes from scratch a few times and I always have the same problem with the right side of the screen disappearing at the same time no matter what I do.  In the project I am working on, I have several scenes where this effect is needed and some of the footage seems to work fine while other scenes consistently give me this issue.
    I also just remembered that I have CS4 (but CS3 runs a little better on my computer) so I'll try putting the clip together in CS4 and see if it still does the same thing.

  • 3.2 image rendering issues when cropping and straightening

    Upgraded to 3.2 - all works well so far but have noticed that the top 1/3rd of image disappears during the cropping and straightening processes in the viewer window, but only with portrait/vertically oriented images.  Anyone else have that issue?

    Still on Snow Leopard here and I just tried this. Sorry to report it worked OK for me. I tried both  straightening then cropping and then the reverse. No problems.
    Does it happen on all portrait images? Could you post a screen shot of the results?
    There wasa report of something similar a while back. Here's the thread:
    After straightening/cropping 1/2 or 3/4 of displayed image is blacked out!  Don;t know how that turned out.

  • I am having trouble rendering cropped clips.

    I am getting a "Out of Memory" error. I have the same clip overlayed on top of another, and have the top clip cropped. The bottom clip is at a lower opacity. When I try to render that section, it gives me a "Out of Memory" error. Both clips are the same - a RAW photo that is RGB at 8 bit.

    You need to go to your settings and up the amount of ram used by FCP for stills.
    Go to Final Cuts System Settings then in the Memory and Cache Tab bring up the Still Cache to something closer to 50%.That should be it.

  • Half frame rendered black- as if a mask cropped the bottom and right side

    Here's a mindboggler. And I'm sure it's totally my fault... Newbie here... I know I can go back and redo this in 2k but wondering if anybody has an answer that can save me days of work...
    SO, I shot on RED, edited in pro-rez HQ, uprezed with Redcine to 3k prorez for FX- applied FX in AFX then rendered back to 3k. Compiled back in FCP then sent to Color... I found out then that Color can't work with 3k, so I changed my FCP comp to 1920X1080 and scaled the 3k images down to fit (in FCP). Resent to color and everything seemed fine. I did grading in color and rendered. Everything seemed normal until I looked at the renders out of color. The frame size is correct but the image looks like it has a backwards L across the bottom and right side of the frame. As if the geometry rendered only the top part of frame. I check the Geometry room and everything's normal.
    Anyone know why it looks fine in Color but when rendering it comes out like this?
    Thanks so much in advance.
    Tim

    What was the resolution setting sent to COLOR by FCP? In the "Send" roundtrip, all Geometry settings are ignored by COLOR in the render stage.

  • OSX 10.5.5 screws up jogl's  text renderer

    I narrowed down a problem I am having with jogl's text renderer (com.sun.opengl.util.j2d.TextRenderer).
    It displays gibberish text with OSX 10.5.5 update. (tested on multiple macs).
    I'm stuck and I decided to post here to see if anyone else have the same issues, and perhaps find a solution.
    To summarize: com.sun.opengl.util.j2d.TextRenderer displays gibberish text when using OSX 10.5.5 while works fine on previous versions of OSX (and PC).

    I ran the gears + text demo form the jogl demo page. My text was extremely corrupted. If I could include an image, I would. It was as if black boxes were overlaid on top of all the characters, making it hard to discern on character from another. Also, the lower-right simply showed FPS: FFF.FF

  • Font rendering is screwed up on my Galaxy Tab 2 7

    I'm using the latest Firefox Android browser on both my Galaxy Tab 2 7 running Jelly Bean as well my old i9000 phone running Gingerbread. On the phone, font sizes are rendered consistently across sites. However, on the tablet, pages such as Google News home page are messed up with text blocks that are rendered in the same font size on the desktop or phone being rendering in varied font sizes. This problem is also found on other sites. Is this something to do with the different font rendering on Jelly Bean that trips up many an Android app since Firefox seems to work fine on Gingerbread and, if so, can something be done about it as it is an excellent browser otherwise?

    Firefox and every other smartphone browser uses an algorithm to make pages designed for desktop browsers more readable. Though you see it more often on Firefox because website designers have been building restrictive mobile sites that only work on Safari iOS and the Android stock browser.
    There are certain web sites such as forums where this algorithm does not work so well. This results is 'random' text sizes. If you want to read the details of this behavior see http://www.jwir3.com/blog/2012/07/30/font-inflation-fennec-and-you/ This is described in the section "Incorrect Flow Roots".
    If you want to make the text size regular but smaller on desktop websites you can go into the Firefox settings.
    * Press the menu button
    * Scroll down to the settings and tap it
    * Scroll down to 'Text size' and tap it
    * Press the small 'A' till the text size is at the smallest size
    * Press set
