Rendering with Repousse

HelIo.
I am trying to create a 3D image of a credit card in repousse and I have 2 questions about the tool.
Firstly, can a smart object or anything other than a simple path be extruded? At the moment the 'Repousse' option only seems available when i select the path of a newly drawn shape e.g. rectangle? I want to have additional artwork (logo, chip image) on the front of the rectangle once it is extruded, is there any way to do this? If i merge the l;ayers together the Repousse option is greyed
Secondly, once extruded, the extruded area (i.e. the depth of the image) takes on a default colour. There are options available to change the material of these 'sides' however none are suitable, and there doesn't appear to be any option to simply add a colour to the sides, so that it matches the front???? Is there a way to do this?
Any assistance is much appreciated.
Thanks
M

Thankyou for your response c.pfaffenbichler
I have indeed checked help, but i am not entirely sure what I am looking for, i am very new to this tool.
On your image below, how are you accessing the 3D materials window on the right hand side? If i double clik, it open a new .psb file and if i right click i just get the usual pop up menu? Is it within 'Edit in Repousse'?
Thanks
M

    What format are your sources and what are your sequence settings?  I'd guess that you're working with h.264 material which is not fcp friendly.  If so, use compressor to conver to prores422

    We are invoking web services on LiveCycle Server ES 8.2 to convert non pdf documents to pdf. We noticed that oversized documents are rendered with parts of it cut off when submitted for conversion.
    Has anyone seen this before and how we can resolve this?
    Thanks in advance.

    The oversized file issue happens when we try to convert legal size documents. Part of the document is cut off.
    Any documents wider than 8 and 1/2 by 11 has this issues.

  • Some Problems Rendering With Maya

    Hi there! I had submitted a Maya job with my Qmaster and it worked fine with my sime animation sequence and putting up basic materials. Now, I have a quite complex scene and it includes materials and textures. Qmaster renders the animation sequence but it only gives me black and white outputs... the textures were not included!
    What seems to be the problem?

    Hi,
    I haven't used qmaster, but i have extensive experience network rendering with maya, so here goes.
    Most likely, your problem is that you are rendering across multiple machines, but the volume names are different. Your file paths must match exactly. For example, on my pc's, all of them have a y: drive. Whenever I need to network render a project, I will just use the y drive and make an exact copy of the directory on each computer. this is also the same format that the renderfarm I use. Unless you have a SAN, you will need to do something similar to this on the mac.
    If you poke around, you should be able to find a log file that will show you that textures could'nt be found (missing), and in that case, the renderer render's black.
    I am interested in qMaster since I have switched my studio over to mac's and need a good network renderer. If you can post your experience when you get a chance i would like to know how it works for you.

  • "Could not create renderer with alias..." after deploying ResourceRenderer

    Hello everybody
    I've developed a custom ResourceRenderer class that looks like this:
    package no.expert.portal.km.relateddocs;
    import com.sapportals.htmlb.Component;
    import com.sapportals.htmlb.Link;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.rendering.resource.cm.ResourceRenderer;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.repository.IResource;
    public class RelatedDocsNamePropertyRenderer extends ResourceRenderer
         protected Component renderContentLink(com.sapportals.htmlb.Component comp) throws WcmException
              Link result = (Link) super.renderContentLink(comp);
              result.setTarget("");
              return result;
         protected Component renderContentLink(IResource resource, com.sapportals.htmlb.Component comp) throws WcmException
              Link result = (Link)super.renderContentLink(resource, comp);
              result.setTarget("");
              return result;
    All it does, really, is preventing links to documents in KM to open in a new window. At least that's what I'm hoping it will do, as it's based on ideas in <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=20316">this post</a>.
    I've added all the necessary .jar files, and implemented a wrapper portal service as described here: <a href="http://media.sdn.sap.com/html/submitted_docs/nw_kmc/ide/projects/Setting%20Up%20a%20KMC%20Project.html">http://media.sdn.sap.com/html/submitted_docs/nw_kmc/ide/projects/Setting%20Up%20a%20KMC%20Project.html</a>.
    I've created an alias for the class in <i>Content Management -> User Interface -> Mapping</i>, and assigned this to the resource renderer settings that I use.
    OK, here is where the trouble starts. When viewing the layout set with debugging on, I check <i>Rendering Information</i>. It informs me that <i>"The given configuration was not used, because the alias is not defined or points to an invalid java class"</i>. Looking in the log, this is the error message:

    Hi Gourab,
    Double check the the page.xml has referring to the correct CO. Open the page.xml and see which controller is attached to it.
    Also attach the extended controller through personalization to the page/Region.
    Thanks

  • No using wiggle effect when rendering with Media Encoder

    Hey!
    I wanted to render my project (by "add AE project") to CS4 media encoder. After the render process
    my wiggle effects which I applied to my footage was not considered and did not appear at all. When I
    just render with AE4 it work.
    Do I need to  change any settings or pick a special format in the media encoder?
    I'd be glad for an answer!
    best,
    Alex

    Unfortunately that is a bug in Adobe Media Encoder - it does not correctly handle expressions, if they were created in the non-default language. If your AE runs in English, but AME in German, AME will run the background instance of AE it uses to handle AE projects also in German and your expressions break, because they are language specific. Nothing you can change. As a workaround, consider using the Convert Expressions to Keyframes keyframe assistant before rendering with AME. For a few layers with simple stuff that should be acceptable, but of course it will be a nightmare with lots of expressions.

  • [Solved] radeonsi: only Software Rendering with AMD A10-7850k APU

    Hi,
    I have a new computer with an AMD A10-7850k APU.
    I installed Arch Linux as usual and now get only Software Rendering with the open source drivers.
    $ glxinfo | grep vendor
    server glx vendor string: SGI
    client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI
    OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
    Xorg.0.log

    dmesg | grep drm
    http://pastebin.com/qx7Re1fv
    I am in the video group and I have no nomodeset in my boot entry.
    Is this APU not yet supported for Hardware Rendering with the radeonsi drivers or do I miss anything?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Error: Resource cannnot rendered with XML Resource Renderer?

    Hi, KMC fellows,
    When I tried to display/edit news with NewsExplorer, it throw me this error from times to times:
    "Resource cannnot rendered with XML Resource Renderer"
    But I am using the default NewsExplorer without making any custom change, how do I solve this problem?
    Thanks for any constructive inputs.
    Kent

    Hi Kent,
    > But when the server restart, it become fine for while,
    > then it will repeats from times to times.
    If you can reproduce it (I know, really "reproducing" is probably not possible) - so if this behaviour occurs while you know / can see from monitoring that no KMC restart has happened - please open an OSS message!
    Best regards

    Hi folks,

    In either early or late KMS start, essentially what I see during boot is the boot messages starting to get drawn from the top of the screen, at some point they briefly stop being drawn (as if services are still loading) and then continue until the screen's height is filled, when the screen flashes blank and new messages get drawn from the top. I also see random pixels appear singly all over the screen, in different colours. This behaviour happened when I was first running the Arch installation, until I realised that KMS might be the problem and added "nomodeset" (and later "i915.modeset=0", which made no difference) to the kernel parameters. However, before booting into my Arch pendrive, the laptop booted into a sort of windows installer / agreement signing (in UEFI, presumably) which did get rendered correctly.
    This potentially leads me to think that, before I nuked the existing partitions in readiness for my Arch install, there was some firmware or driver in there that made the HD 5500 just work™. Could this be true? I'm still getting my head around UEFI and what it lets you do. With this in mind, I tried making a new EDID to give the GPU a good idea of what kind of screen it should be drawing to, but that made no difference.
    Strangely, if I boot up with KMS and get to X (with root doing startx on the stock configuration), neither /var/log/Xorg.0.log nor glxinfo seem to think anything's the matter from what I can tell:

    Likewise xrandr seems happy with the way things are going:
    Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767
    eDP1 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 293mm x 165mm
    1920x1080 60.00*+ 40.00
    1400x1050 59.98
    1280x1024 60.02
    1280x960 60.00
    1024x768 60.00
    800x600 60.32 56.25
    640x480 59.94
    HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
    VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
    I tried boteium's suggestion to force xrandr to redraw things (or signal them to get redrawn, however it works) by rotating the picture, but I still had the same weirdness of slow drawing, random coloured pixels and now "smudging" with the open xterm instances. It's as if hardware acceleration is not enabled and, I imagine, the GPU is blindly trying to draw whatever it can to the screen without preparing the complete picture first (if that's what they do at all).
    For completion's sake – and I'm sorry for all these walls of text – here's my pacman -Q, just in case anyone could (hopefully) spot a silly mistake on my part:

    Sorry to double-post, but I'm coming around to the idea that it's a UEFI issue. My understanding now is that, if I want to use UEFI, the kernel's EFISTUB needs to be loaded by certain EFI firmware that gives the kernel information about the hardware, which I unfortunately lost when creating my partitions. The only EFI file I have in /boot is "/boot/EFI/gummiboot/gummibootx64.efi". Should this be enough to boot as UEFI? Am I understanding this right? Something else that makes me think I'm missing some essential stuff that was originally installed, is that some items as reported by dmidecode say "To be filled by O.E.M.". Since I've just bought this system pre-built from an OEM, I would have thought that they'd fill that in, and that the EFI firmware is the place to do it.
    Also, one thing I forgot to mention above is that I changed the BIOS setting Advanced→Launch PXE OpROM policy from "Legacy" to "UEFI" before booting into the Arch iso. Could this have anything to do with KMS not working (during the installation and until now)? I didn't try booting with "Legacy", but if we could confirm that booting as UEFI is what broke KMS during installation, maybe that could be worth mentioning in the wiki.

  • How do I fix extremely slow rendering with buffered images?

    I've found random examples of people with this problem, but I can't seem to find any solutions in my googling. So I figured I'd go to the source. Basically, I am working on a simple platform game in java (an applet) as a surprise present for my girlfriend. The mechanics work fine, and are actually really fast, but the graphics are AWFUL. I wanted to capture some oldschool flavor, so I want to render several backgrounds scrolling in paralax (the closest background scrolls faster than far backgrounds). All I did was take a buffered image and create a graphics context for it. I pass that graphics context through several functions, drawing the background, the distant paralax, the player/entities, particles, and finally close paralax.
    Only problem is it runs at like 5 fps (estimated, I havn't actually counted).
    I KNOW this is a graphics thing, because I can make it run quite smoothly by commenting out the code to draw the background/paralax backgrounds... and that code is nothing more complicated than a graphics2d.drawImage
    So obviously I am doing something wrong here... how do I speed this up?

    are the parallax images translucent by any chance? The most efficient way to draw images with transparent areas is to do something like this:
         public static BufferedImage optimizeImage(BufferedImage img)
              GraphicsDevice gd = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getDefaultScreenDevice();
              GraphicsConfiguration gc = gd.getDefaultConfiguration();
              boolean istransparent = img.getColorModel().hasAlpha();
              BufferedImage img2 = gc.createCompatibleImage(img.getWidth(), img.getHeight(), istransparent ? Transparency.BITMASK : Transparency.OPAQUE);
              Graphics2D g = img2.createGraphics();
              g.drawImage(img, 0, 0, null);
              g.dispose();
              return img2;
         }I copied this from a util class I have and I had to modify it a little, I hope I didn't break anything.
    This piece of code does a number of things:
    - it allows the images to be hardware accelerated
    - the returned image is 100% compatible with the display, regardless of what the input image is
    - BITMASK transparent images are an incredible amount faster than translucent images
    BITMASK means that a pixel is either fully transparent or it is fully opaque; there is no alpha blending being performed. Alpha blending in software rendering mode is very slow, so this may be the bottleneck that is bothering you.
    If you require your parallax images to be translucent then I wouldn't know how to get it to draw quicker in an applet, other than trying out java 6 update 10 to see if it fixes things.

  • Premiere Pro CC Crashes While Rendering With Mercury OpenCL

    Hi guys!
    Every time I try to render a ~2 min video in H.264 using the OpenCL renderer which is fully supported on my 7970 (2x Crossfire) the program crashes while rendering. (Usually around 28%)
    If I switch to Mercury Software renderer, it renders perfectly.
    I am currently using AMD 13.6beta2 drivers, and PPCC is fully updated, any suggestions?
    Additionally, for the half minute that it tries to render with OpenCL before crashing, by checking the GPU utilization % in AMD catalyst overdrive, it seems to not be utilizing the gpu at all... And then promtly crashes of course...
    I hope I can fix this problem soon... Really dissapointed with this adobe product.
    Thanks a lot!

    Rendering without any effects ----------> Still Crashes
    Disabling Crossfire ----------------------- > Still Crashes
    Reinstalling Premiere ---------------------> Still Crashes
    Physically Removing the 2nd GPU -----> Works
    So, is there any way I can get this to work while having both GPUs physically installed in the computer?
    It would be quite a hastle to remove the 2nd one each time I need to use PP!
    One odd thing also is that from watching the gpu utilization while rendering H.264 1080p, the GPU is only being used to about 30%, and very intermittently.... I would imagine things would accelerate quite a lot if it actually utilized the whole GPU!
    Thank you very much guys!

  • When rendering with Adobe Media Encoder, the sound only starts playing at 1 minute and 20 seconds

    So I have this problem: I have a video which is an hour long and when I try to render it via AME the result will have the audio of the video starting at around the 1 minute 20 mark. I render to the YouTube 1080p preset.
    What I have tried to fix this is:
    - use .wav instead of .mp3 (didn't work)
    - use After Effects itself to render the video (this worked)
    - change the video start time to 1 minute and 20 seconds and then made AME start the render at that (didn't work)
    - re-render (didn't work even on different presets)
    It's also not my audio file because I've tried rendering it with the audio starting at 1:20 and then the track was playing from the start.
    The video contains one audio track and one video and the project file is in After Effects.
    Is my AME bugged or am I doing something terrible wrong?
    Hope to hear from you guys.
    PS: I really don't want to render via After Effects, due to file size.

    I'm having a very similar problem. I just purchased a larger SD card thinking it was the card but it's definitely Media Encoder.
    Mine is also crashing in the middle of renders and causing my computer to crawl.

  • Form renders with no data

    Hi, I'm trying to render a form as a PDF, but it renders it without the user entered data (it renders only the blank fields).
    I've been looking at other similar threads that deal with this issue, but all my settings seem to be valid according to them.
    Since the form template renders fine, I suppose the problem is when I'm trying to passover the data variable (i named it formvar) to the render form QPAC.
    I have this statement on the Input XML data field:
    {$ serialize(/process_data/formvar/form-data/data/*,true) $}
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Hi
    A couple of things you can try:
    1. Try assigning serialize(/process_data/formvar/form-data/data/*,true) to a String variable (using SetValue), and then either VariableLogger or DocumentExport to check that the data is actually there.
    2. Try using RenderPlus, which takes a slightly different approach to Rendering, and may (or may not) give you better results.
    3. Try turning up the logging level in log4j config file to DEBUG, and see whether you get any information from Render.
    You can find all the above QPACs at:
    http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtml
    Good luck...

  • Issue with Repousse with Paths in CS5 Extended

    Hi,
    Really hoping someone can help, I'm hoping I'm doing something stupid
    1) I drawn out a path using the pen tool
    2) I select the path with the path selection tool !!!
    3) I go to 3d/repousse/selected path...
    I do not see the 3d shape in the repousee dialog. it seem invisible.  If I use the rotate tool it rotates the whole screen as a 3d block
    It seems not to detect my selected path
    I have a brand new iMac 27 i7 8 gb
    PS
    If I do the same procedure with a selection its works ok
    Am I doing something stupid?

    yep I'm stupid!!
    I found my issue and I mention it i just in case someone else comes across  it
    When defining my shape with the pen tool I was not using the  "Add to Path" option
