Rendring community pages as tabs in ALUI portal

Hello Experts.
I am new to ALUI portal.I have a typical requirement.My intranet Portal displays 2 mandatory pages(as configured for all users) and user can add up to 6 pages.these pages are rendred as tabs in portal.So when user clicks in any tab,corresponding page will be diaplyed.Now the requirement is when user clicks on any community,i want to display community pages as individual tabs in place of MyPages.will it be possible?
any help would be appriciated
Thanks,
Naidu

Edit the community you want to appear as a tab, add a group with permissions to see the community(or Everyone if is public), and set "Mandatory with tab" for Everyone or for a specific group. Is this what you want?
Thanks!

  • How to hide the page links of a community on the 5.0.2 portal?

    We have a community with a dozen of pages. In Plumtree 4.5, we used to edit myportal.asp page to turn the page links off (hide them for that community) and forced user to navigate through our gadgets.
    Is there an easy way to hide the page navigations on top of a community in 5.0.2 portal?

    I am assuming you are talking about the JSControl dropdown menu navigation. The easiest way to hide Community pages is to disable the Below Banner View for that navigation scheme, although it also disables the Subcommunties, Related Communities and Go up to Parent Community links. If you still want these in below the banner menu you could not display Community Pages in the "In this Community" tab and only leave the "Community Members and Knowledge Directly" link in there.
    You would think that it would be better to remove the "In this Community" tab althogether but it is tricky to remove it due to the fact that there needs to be a default horizontal menu displayed all the time. Not all Communities will have a Subcommunities or Related Communities tab so these communities would not display any below banner menus at all if there is no "In this Community" tab, which could be confusing.

  • How to add friendly URLs to pages within the ALUI portal?

    I want to know how to add friendly URLs (human-readable URLs that users can bookmark or type into the browser address bar) to pages within the ALUI portal.
    The portal application is developed using plumtree portlets.
    regards,
    Veeshoo

    In 6.5
    Community links look like this:
    http://your_Server/portal/server.pt/community/lockdown_console/
    Documents look like this:
    http://your_Server/portal/server.pt/document/50541/your_document_name.doc
    If your goal is for users to "type into the browser address bar" then your best bet would be dns mapping.
    At that point you could have communities with urls like:
    http://your_Community.your_Server.com
    or
    http://your_Server/your_Community
    Which is significantly easier for users

  • Display community pages under active community tab in left vert nav

    Hi, I'm trying to display the community pages in an "active" Comunity under the given Community tab in left vertical nav. I simply need to find out how I can access the community id from the HTMLAnchor so I can compare this community id to commP.GetCurCommunityID(). I tried calling url.GetAccessKey() and url.GetID(), these do not get current community id - both throw a NumberFormatException when I try Integer.parseInt on the String (because they return null).
    This is the CListURLMediator I am looping through:
    while(mediator.Next())
    HTMLAnchor url = (HTMLAnchor) mediator.GetEntry();
    AddBgImageListRow(table, url);
    // TODO: add page links under ACTIVE community link
    /*if (NavPageType.COMMUNITY == m_model.GetCurNavPageType())
    CommunityNavPage commP = (CommunityNavPage) m_model.GetPageSpecificMethods();
    //url.GetAccessKey() or url.GetID() do not get current community id - both throw NumberFormatException
    if (commP.GetCurCommunityID() == Integer.parseInt(url.GetAccessKey()))
    CypressWriteCommPagesTable(table, col, commP);
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Victor

    The mediators will only give you pre-built constructs with the URL. But, you can use the ICPListEntryIterator object to enumerate over it in the same way you iterate over a mediator. ICPListEntryIterator.GetEntry returns a ListEntry class, which has a GetCommunityID method.

  • What is the Web Dynpro tab on the portal page?

    Newbie here...
    I am confused between NDWS and the Web Dynpro tab on the portal page.  As I don't have access to either right now, I need to know what is required by a Portal Content Admin to maintain an application.  The Basis people do the JCO setup.  Those are the only tabs I have seen when using the Web Dynpro tab from the portal, not NDWS.  Seeing as I don't have access to either tool, and I have to ask for what I need and I don't know what I need...  Been there?
    I guess my question is the use of the two tools.
    Thanks,
    Amy Smith
    Haworth, Inc.

    Thanks so much for a quick response!
    So, the Web Dynpro Content Admin is normally a part of the content admin role.  Hmm... I get a "you are not authorized" when I click that tab, even though I can do iViews, etc. and was told I have the content admin role.  So if no one edited the rights of the content admin, I should be able to get into Web Dynpro Content Admin tool.  Is this so?  Is there any special user config, check box, etc in addition to the role?
    Is the Dynpro content admin tool useful for content admins or content developers?
    My Basis person does not want the content admin to be able to change JCO settings.  Is there a way to give the content admin rights to everything in the WDCA   except that?
    Thanks again.  I am a J2EE developer who volunteered to take content admin and content development roles and am trying to figure out what has been done here and what needs to be done.  On top of that anyone who has been involved claims "I know nothing..."  until I ask specific questions.  It's just hard to know what the specific questions are.
    I know, training...  No money. Sigh...  I am good at doing tutorials and reading manuals and experimenting, however, I need access to the right tools and permissions first.
    Thanks again.

    Hi Satya -
    It seems you should be able to get the information you are after in the "wwsbr_all_items" view. The folder_ID is the page ID. The content mangement views are documented here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/html/plsqldoc/pldoc1012/wwsbr_api_view.html%0A%0A#WWSBR_ALL_ITEMS

    Well ... this appears to be a serious problem with the Portal as it renders it incapable of adding pages and tabs. I've tried reinstalling it on 3 different servers, used another instance of Oracle database, and the result is still the same. No installation errors, and suddenly after 7-10 days this error starts appearing.
    Am I the only one experiencing this type of error? ...and can anyone offer\suggest ways to fix it?

  • Oracle BPEL Worklist application as a remote portlet in ALUI portal

    Hi,
    I am integrating the Oracle BPEL sample worklist application as a remote portlet in ALUI in a community page.
    I have 2 urgent queries...and desperate to look for a resolution...
    1) On opening the page where the remote portlet is placed ,it is very very slow to open the firt login screen in IE6.However the page is loading fast in IE7 or netscape.Every time the login page is hit we need to refresh the page to load it quickly..
    2)on thewebservice configuration section for portlet -- > http Configuration ,I have created a gateway and added our Oracle BPEL worklist context to gateway the request.There is a option like Inline refresh..
    a)If inline refresh is unchecked ,the BPEL worklist is not retaining the portlet nature like minimize ,maximize and the top community navigation is lost.
    b)however if inline refesh is checked..The portlet nature is retained ,however there is javascript error coming in the page which is not allowing some of the vanilla features of BPEL worklist is working properly like clicking some buttons and taking actions...
    Is this some configuration to be made in the ALUI side or some thing else...Please let me know if there is any solution to this...
    Regards
    Ashif

    Now I am able to display the initial page of the remote portlet. However, when I try to do some operations I m running into one more issue:
    [WSRP-Consumer:420733]No markup received from the producer [oraclePortal_producer] for portlet with portletHandle[E:3:default].
    Is there anything futher I need to do?

  • Exporting & importing a page having tabs.

    Hi,
    We are having a problem when exporting and
    importing a page, which has tabs, and a
    user has customized the portlets on one
    tab. This looks like a bug,but thought I will
    ask here for any workarounds or settings I
    might have missed.
    Steps to recreate the problem:
    - login as portal30
    - Create a page with tabs.
    - Grant customization privs to
    authenticated_users
    - create a user(say testuser)
    - login as testuser.
    - customize the tab, by adding a portlet.
    - logout.
    - export the page using pageexp.csh
    - login as portal30 and delete the page.
    - import the page.
    - login as testuser and you will see that
    the customized tab is missing!
    - As a workaround(a bad one..) I tried
    to delete the user ( as portal_sso) and
    created it again...but the problem still
    exists ie the customized tab has
    disappeared.
    Any help or information is appreciated.
    thanks,
    nanda

    I forgot to mention the versions that I had.
    Portal 3.0.6.6.5 ( from 9ias 1.0.2.0.1)
    Oracle 817
    on solaris 8.
    Richard,
    Thanks for that information. Do you know if
    there is any quick workaround for the problem
    that I described above which I can use until
    the patch gets released?

  • Retrieving list of portlets inside a community page

    Hi all,I am trying to create an administrative portlet that show a tree containing:Community -- Community Page -- Portlets inside each page
    In this portlet I want to show all the communities in the portal, because this will be a portlet only for administrator, to have a clear situation of the portal content. With EDK I was only able to retrieve all the communities with the IObjectManager. So I thought that it were a better solution to realize an intrinsic portlet.But with intrinsic portlet I don't know how to retrieve the list of portlets contained in a particular community page.
    Can you tell me what is the object and method that I have to use?Do you think this kind of portlet is realizeable also with EDK?
    Thank you very much,
    Alberto Marchiaro

    Hi Raed,
    The EDK's PRC doesn't yet have the methods you require. You'll want touse the Plumtree Server API to both query for portlets and add them to the page. The server API requires you install the PTServer.dll on your remote server (you'll already have it if you are developing the portlets on the same box where the portal is deployed).
    Depending on your exact use case, I'd also suggest you consider using portal UI modifications to the mypage to get the modified functionality you want. You can look at the Developer Documentation on how to replace the view for those pages if this is applicable to your use case.

  • "[community]:[Page]" title is changed to "GATEWAY"

    Hi, I'm developing a portlet with a aspx web page associated (.net). There is only one page with a button web server control on it.
    <br>
    After every postback, the typical [community]:[page] title above the portlets area changes its text to "GATEWAY".What am I doing wrong? :| <br><br>
    Versions:<br>
    portal:5.0.2<br>
    edk(.net): 5.1<br>
    Plumtree .net web controls: 2.1<br>
    <br>
    The page is gatewayed and web.config includes the httpModules entry under system.web.<br><br>
    Thanks in advance?

    I have the same issue but I am using:
    Portal 6.0
    Web Controls Consumer 3.0
    Does anyone know why this occurs?

  • Create tabs in Enterprise Portal 6.0

    Hi,
    I began using SAP a couple days ago and I want to integrate an application into the portal. Before I do that, I am trying to learn some basics.  I've created a sample iView, deployed it to the portal and it worked as expected. Now I want to import some data into the portal and verify that I can create new tabs to navigate to my iView.
    I've logged into the EP as administrator and created a new folder under Portal Content->Content Provided by Other Vendors.  I added a workset, page, and my iView to the folder and then exported it.  I manually moved the exported file into my Import directory and imported the .epa file.
    After doing this, I do not the tabs I thought should appear in the portal.  It appears the UI has not changed after the import.  I thought the workset and page would add the appropriate tabs in the portal but not so.
    Do you know of a simple tutorial that illustrates how to add navigation tabs to the portal?  I'm sure I am doing some basic things wrong, but I haven't found the right information to guide me yet.
    Thank you very much

    Thanks for your responses.  Unfortunately, I am still unable to see any navigation tabs added to the portal.  I followed advice from this post as well, SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC)
    but still had no luck.  I must be missing some steps.
    Is it necessary to export a .epa file and then import it in order to see the tabs? -- that is what I've tried.
    I have created an iView and I would like to create a transport package that one could import into a portal. Once the package has been imported into the user's portal, he should navigate the tabs at the top of the portal to get to the iView  (similar to the tabs: Content Administration -> Portal Content)
    Can someone please provide a procedure to add navigation tabs to my portal. Please don't omit any cruicial steps because I am obviously missing something simple here.
    Many thanks!

  • PT:openerLink to sub-community page

    I'm trying to use the pt:openerLink tags to make simple links to various objects in the portal. I've been able to get most of them to work, but can't find the attribute to allow me to create a link to a community SUB page. That is, I can link to a main community page using its objectID but cannot find the objectID of the sub page. The sub page has the same object ID but a different pageID.
    Putting in a rouge "pageID" attribute didn't help much, unless I have the wrong case sensitivity...?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the link!
    ---> Now all I need is a way to get a particular page's UUID. I need this so that when we migrate to other environments (dev/stag/prod), I can use the UUID to get the ObjectId for the page in the current environment.
    when getting an IObjectManager from an IRemoteSession, we need to specify an ObjectClass.
    I'm looking at 5.0.2 (I believe) and the ObjectClass does not have a for "page".
    How can I get a page's UUID?
    (See post titled: re: Migration - ObjectClass for "page")
    Shouldn't the Plumtree Transformer Tags take the UUID instead of the ObjectID? This would be better for developers & deployment... or am I missing something?

  • Graphic on Community Page

    I have a graphic that I want to put on community home page on the lower left column. I thought I could just put it in a portlet (graphic on an html page) and suppress the title bar but the blue outline of the portlet box still shows. Is there a way to turn off the blue outline so only my graphic shows.
    Or if someone knows a better way to do this I would appreciate any suggestions.
    My community page layout is nwn with 3 portlet on the left, a single portlet in the middle and a single expandable portlet on the left - it is below the left portlet that I want a graphic (it cannot be part of the expandable portlet
    Thanks,

    Actually, it isn't a navigation portlet that I need to build, but rather an aggregation portlet. Let me see if I can explain this a little better...
    If you have 3 portlets in one section of the page (say the narrow left), you add an aggregation portlet that changes the display of the 3 portlets so that one or more show, but with separate tabs to choose between content view. The portlets change when you click on or hover over (based on pref setting) the selected tab, without refreshing the entire page. This code is currently implemented in DotNetNuke (hence the previous link) using a 3rd party module and is used very heavily in the sites I am migrating.
    Unfortunately since the UICI uses an MVC model, a simple reparenting of .NET controls isn't an option like the current implementation has. My current plan is to implement a UICI modification that will look for the existance of the aggregator portlets in the page sections and resort the portlet output for the portlets that have been defined as a child portlet for that aggregator, while leaving non-selected portlets to render in their original location.
    Does that make better sense?
    FWIW... I'm not new to UICI modifications, but my prior experiences were more targeted with Login & Profile functionality (forced password expiration, Cognos/LDAP password updates, and other joyful PEI tweaks) in a 5.04 environment a couple years back. It is interesting to see how things have changed though since then.

  • Querying community pages using PRC

    Is there a way to get list of pages in a community?
    Thanks, Arun

    Unfortunately there is no way currently to query the pages within a community. This will be added to the PRC in our next major portal release. There is no date for this release yet.
    If you really need to get the community pages, I suggest you use the native Portal API. This requires installing the portal on your remote server. The following code should get you what you want:
    /** * Queries a community's pages and their properties. * * @param ptSession is a valid portal session. * @param nCommunityID is the object ID of the community to * query the pages for. * @return A query result of the community pages * and their properties for the given community. */ public IPTQueryResult queryCommunityPages (IPTSession ptSession, int nCommunityID) {   // Get the community.   IPTObjectManager communityManager = ptSession.GetCommunities();   IPTCommunity community = (IPTCommunity)communityManager.Open( nCommunityID, false );  // false to not lock the object      // Query the pages within the community.   IPTQueryResult qrPages = community.QueryPages( 0 );  // 0 for all pages   return qrPages; }
