  • How do I import an oval shaped picture only for into Premiere Pro 2.0

I can't figure out how to cut out an oval facial shot in Photoshop and then import it(only the oval) into premiere Pro 2.0 to be used as part of a "Cast" timeline with moving background and hopefully a revolving name.

    hopefully a revolving name.
Harm has given you the clue for the oval. You can also use Track Matte Keying to "limit" the view of the image, but the Alpha Channel is easier and quicker.
Now, for the revolving name, you might want to look at the 3D Effect. If that doesn't do it for you, BluffTitler, and ProDAD's Heroglyph have plenty of presets to do similar.
    Good luck,

  • Problem importing XDCAM-EX IN After Effects CC or Premiere Pro

We have recently installed  CC in our labs, and now we can't import XDCAM-EX, using the media browser neither in Premiere Pro nor in After effects.
We get "Usupported format or damaged file" error
I have made all the last upgrades, but still getting the problem.
    The AE version is: 12.1.0.168
    PP version is 7.1.0 (141)
I have a machine  where kept the CS6 installation, in this machine in CS6 everithing works OK , in the same machine CC gives the error.
All the labs where freshly installed Windows 7 (no upgrades or reminecnts of old programs or codecs)
The file structure of the memory card hasn't been touched and with programs like SONY XDCAM Clip Browser, the clip looks fine and with no errors.

I seems that the problem is with the Premiere Pro CC update (7.1.0)
This is what i have done to solve the problem:
Using the Creative Cloud packager  I prepared a new build containing only Premiere Pro CC with no updates, only the basic application.
I ran the new msi on top of the Creative cloud installation (without previosly removing any program) and now Premiere Pro CC, After Effects CC and Prelude  CC ingest/import the XDCAM-ex files correctly
Now I have to do this in the 65 machines of the labs...

  • Import 1080p h.264 mov to editi with premiere pro?

i am a nikon d800 user , and i like to use adobe premiere pro to edit the 1080p video clips for sharing with my friends, but the compressed H.264 MOV videos from D800 can not be playbacked or edited smoothly on many editing softwares such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas , Windows Moive Maker and so on.
With the help of my friend Tim, i got a top video converter, it works very well .
if you wanna to got the more detailed information , you can refer here:
Nikon 1080P H.264 MOV imported to edit with Adobe Premiere Pro

What version of Premiere Pro are you using? I had no trouble whatsoever importing or editing a video off of my D800 in Premiere Pro CS6. No type of conversion was necessary.
As far as the playback, without NVidia's CUDA hardware acceleration for Adobe's Mercury Playback Engine, software acceleration is not going to keep up at 30 fps. Change the playback resolution to 1/2 (every other frame) for smooth video playback. This is for display purposes only. The video itself will still be fully processed.

  • Import of Shot Marks / Essence Mark possible with Premiere Pro CC?

Shooting news is a matter of time! I shot outside by using the button "shot mark" on my Sony PMW 320
It would be very helpful to see this marks in Premiere Pro to find the important frames quickly like Sony Vegas or AVID does.
I do have made a feature request.
    Any hints or workarounds?

I am having the same issue.
Your best bet is to logon to Adobe website and go to customer support. If you chat with someone they can go on your computer and trash all your preferences. Your computer will be stable again. It worked great for me, but I just imported an XML from Resolve and it is crashing the system again.
    Good luck.

  • My imported AVI file doesn't play audio in Premiere Pro CS5 nor Encore CS5

    Hi there,
I've been trying to find a solution for my "audio" problem for a few days now, but no luck...
First of all I'd like to mention that I work on a Mac.
I have an AVI file that plays perfectly fine in Quicktime (audio and video).
However, when I import it in Encore or Premiere, it shows the video but there's no audio.
I understand this probably has something to do with codecs? But I really have no clue what I can do about it.
I was working in Encore at first, cause I don't really need any editing, just a dvd I'd like to burn. Since the audio didn't work there I've tried importing in Premiere. Same problem of course. Then I tried to seperate the audio and video and transfered it into Soundbooth. Didn't change anything.
Another problem that occurred in Encore was some errors with gaps. I have about 10 AVI files that I put on the same timeline. Any advice on what I can do about that?
I'm kinda new in all of these things, so any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi again,
I've downloaded mediainspector and got the following results:
I also checked the timeline after importing a video and there is indeed a red line over the timeline in Premiere, not in Encore:
    Screenshot timeline Encore:
    Screenshot timeline Premiere:
My project settings in Encore: I took the standard for a dvd Pal widescreen:
And in Premiere I've tried the 4 different standard settings for DV PAL. All the same result with the red line.
I've read the articles about the codecs, but I really could use some help what I can do next. Should I convert it to an MPEG2 for dvd file for example? Which converter (free?) is good for Mac?
Or is there something else I need to do?
I understand how the programs work but I really don't know so much technical stuff about sound and video.
Oh, and just for your information: I imported an MP3 file also in the project, to play at the main menu, and that one is playing just fine, no problems there.
Thanks again for all the help! I really appreciate it.

  • Still images import and sizing in BlackMagic 10 bits footage Premiere pro CS 5.5 and AE

    Hi,
I'm looking for the maths to calculate the needed image size when using normal  images for import to use as still images in Premiere.
The images I have are 72dpi and 240dpi. The footage is Black Magic 10 bits AVI 1920x1080 (1,0) 50i and some stuff is 25p (for keying purposes).
I use Photoshop, Illustrator and Fireworks. I have the same question concerning the import and sizing of images in After Effects.
    Thanks! David

The images I have are 72dpi and 240dpi.
That is completely irrelevant for video editing. The only thing that matters is the pixel dimensions. A 240 dpi image on a 4.3"screen is different than a 72 dpi image on a 200" video wall. The math is simple: one to one relationship. So if you edit 1920 x 1080, use 1920 x 1080 pixel dimensions for your images.

  • Maximum File Size of .dv Import File to Premiere Pro CS5?

    Hello Community:
I searched this forum and Google in general, but could not find an absolute limit on the media file size I can import into a Premiere Pro CS5 project.  I'm scheduled to process the ".DV" recording from a conference, which could go on for hours.  I have asked the camera man to break up the recording in one-hour segments, but I'm getting some push-back.
Is there a specific size limitation on importing an NTFS file structure .dv file in Premiere Pro CS5?
    Thanks,
    Rich Locus

Same issue. I previously used  NeoScene to convert .mov files from a Canon 5d mark ii to the easier to edit with Gopro Cineform .avi format in Premiere Pro CC. They used to work fine but now Premiere only recognizes a very small part of the file. The first 18 seconds of an 8 minute file.
I tried importing the file to a new clean scene and the problem remained.
I need to be able to work with this footage. Somehow Premiere is no longer able to properly read clips it used to be able to read.
I would like to hear something from Adobe on this issue.
EDIT: I just updated my GoPro software to 2.0 and the problem was instantly solved. The same might apply to TechSmith.
EDIT 2: Upon rendering the edit I discovered that while the entire length of the clip was represented it in fact stopped playing new frames at the same frame as it had before. So no luck. Updating GoPro Cineform made the length of the file display correctly (7min) but did not actually let me play the file beyond the first 18 seconds - it just showed the same frame.
I deleted all preview files and cleaned Media Cache files (under media/preferences) - this didn't help.
Finally I made the file offline, closed Premiere, changed the file name and re-opened Premiere. Then I right clicked over the file in the Project window and chose replace file to re-connect. The file finally came in correctly. I've now rendered it and it runs through the entire 7 min.

  • Importing .mts AVCHD files into Premiere Pro CS5.5: can it be done?

Is it possible to import .mts files from a memory card into Premiere Pro? Whenever I try to, I get a message that reads "Codec not supported".
My camera is a Sony Alpha A55, and this worked perfectly well in Final Cut Pro X.

I am not using the Sony Alpha A55 which might use a different codec than my other Sony's (CX-550V and HX5V) BUT I am using PP on an iMac. For different reasons (one of which being that I already used this approach with FCE), I am converting my raw mts files into mov files using ClipWrap ($50, very fast, they have a trial version for download). This has many advantages:
    - the footage is UNTOUCHED. It is just put into a different container.
    - the mov files are WATCHABLE in the Finder (and everywhere else, including PP).
    - the mts files can be dragged and dropped (without bothering about the folder structure) directly into ClipWrap (or first on your HD if you want).
This being said, my experience is that even those files are too much for my (I thought) powerful iMac to scrub through once basic editing has started. So I resorted to transcoding to proxy mpeg2 intermediate files (so that I don't fill up my HD too quickly) and only before exporting my sequence, replace the proxy footage by the original (well converted) mov files. I am still working out the ideal workflow...
Try the ClipWrap demo to see if the codec is supported. If not, they are a very responsive company and will most likely update their software rapidly (for free).
    HTH.
PS: I paid for my software, so I am just a satisfied customer reporting on the product.

  • Premiere Pro CC will not import .mov files

Having issues with Premiere Pro CC, I cannot import .MOV files created with my Canon 6D.
If I try to import the files, I get a very generic "File format not supported" error msg.
This is a new install of Premiere CC on a new computer. I was able to import them using Premiere Pro CC on the old computer.
Quicktime will play these files fine on my new computer.
Premiere Pro CS6 will import these files on the new computer.
Premiere Pro CC would open them fine on my old computer.
I'm not even sure where to start. Any help would be appreciated.
    Here are my system details:
    OSX 10.9.3
    new Mac Pro
    3Ghz 8-Core Xeon E5
    64 GB RAM
Files are on external G-Tech Thunderbolt drive.

That was I was thinking at first, but if Premiere CS6 (installed on the same computer) imports and plays them, they must be on the system, no?
I really do not want to transcode. I have an existing project that uses the videos and the project on the new system will not import them or re-link to the videos. Really trying to get away from having to re-create the project and re-edit.
    Thanks!

  • Failure to import fcp7 project's xml into Premiere Pro 2014.  Details below.  Why is it crashing? Any thoughts?

Here are the details of my problem:
Premiere Pro 2014 (up to date)
Mac book Pro OSX Yosemite 10.10.1 with 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor
Source footage includes a variation of codecs as follows: H.264 in a .mov container, 1920 x 1080 Apple Pro Res 422, Linear PCM
There are no error messages, the import into Premiere Pro 2014 begins normally but the "progress bar" never starts and then after about 10 seconds a blank white box appears followed by the pinwheel.
When the problem occurred I was trying to import a fcp7 project's xml file into Premiere Pro.
I emailed Adobe Support Tech the fcp7 xml file and it crashed his computer, however, I was able to successfully import one clip from fcp7  (an Apple ProRes 422, Linear PCM, duration 1 minute) from the fcp 7 project into Premiere Pro, but not the whole project or the bare essentials (the cut itself).
I am not running other software
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?  Not that I know of...
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU). ??????
I am using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration
The problem only happen when I try to import the FCP7 xml project file into Premiere Pro

    Hi Lynn,
Have you inspected the XML file for any anomalies? That might be a way to see if any third party effects were used.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Importing .psd file with transparency in Premiere Pro CS4 titler

I am trying to import a psd file with transparency into the Premiere Pro CS4 titler and the transparency will not come in. I've tried psd, png, jpeg, gif, targa and none will preserve the transparency. What I'm trying to do is create a custom lower third using a image without having to build it inside the titler or drop the PSD directly onto my timeline. This seems like an easy task, but I'm not having any luck. Please help!

Boy you guys are quick. I did not find this thread until after you'd sorted it out. You know how much I like to work on PS to PrPro problems!
    Jeff,
You might want to move this thread to the PrPro sub-forum, as it will likely help others with PSD Transparency issues, and might never get seen back here.
Like you haven't been busy doing the housekeeping already. You moved one post WHILE I was replying to it. Imagine my surprise, when I replied and ended up in the other sub-forum - as if by magic!

  • Can you import a slideshow from Encore into Premiere Pro 2.0?

I would like to combine video with a slide show - as well as use some of the functions in Premiere Pro in conjunction with a slideshow created in Encore.
Is it possible to import a slide show created in Encore into Premiere Pro?

    Not really, no.
It might be possible to rip a DVD with your Encore slideshow, but I don't know how well PPro would handle it, and any audio would likely have to be converted to WAV.
