Renew Skype number before it expires?

How can I renew my Skype number a month or so before it's up for expiration? Want to do it now while I just got paid and can't figure out how. Thanks!

1. Allow your current Skype Number subscription to expire. You won't lose your number -- it will be held on your account for reactivation for 90 days following the subscription expiration date.
2. After the subscription expires sign on to your account details. You should be presented with a triangle icon with an exclamation mark inside it and be greeted with the message that your Skype Number subscription has expired. Click on the "Reactivate" link and proceed to "renew". You should now be able to renew.

Unable to renew Skype Number

When I log into Skype, it tells me my number is about to expire. When I click on "Settings" to renew it, it simply tells me I have insufficient Skype funds (I don't). All it will allow me to do is "Update" my payment settings, even though it actually won't (when I press "billing" nothing happens). When I go to the section of the site to download a number, it only aks me to purchase a new one. HALP.

On the day your Skype Number subscription expires, it will be automatically renewed for the same period of time for which you initially purchased it.
To change your Skype Number payment method:
Sign in to your account.
In the Manage features section, click Skype Number. You’ll see the next payment due date under your Skype Number.
Click Settings.
Here you can change your existing payment method.
You can change your payment method as long as the new method supports recurring payments, such as a credit card, PayPal or Skype Credit. This is not possible in countries where the payment cannot be made from your Skype Credit balance.
When you cancel your subscription and your Skype Number expires, you can reactivate it from your account within 90 days.

You could always allocate a number to multiple business accounts in Skype Manager. Then re-direct the number via IP-PBX to go to different extensions.

Cannot renew Skype number service

I tried to renew my subscription to Skype number, but the system doesn't allow me to do so.
It says: " You Skype number subscription will be expired today as your payment was unsuccessful. Please chance your payment method to retain your services"
I am using Skype credits as my payment method. My last payment was 17.5GBP and I have 17.97GBP Skype credits on my account. Does anyone know how to renew the service?

When you state that live chat (is actually instant message) was not working, could you provide more detail of what did or did not occur? If you are unsuccessful in sending a message, to which you would receive a reply via e-mail, please post back indicating error messages and the browser(s) you used.
I agree with you; I would be alarmed as well. As a proactive measure, I would recommend changing account passwords.

How to renew skype number and extend subscription?

I wat to reactivate my skype number and extend the period from 3-months to 1-year. Although the option is available, the ystem only keeps the 3-month button active and the 1-yr option is not activated.

Renewing Skype Number

I am having trouble renewing my SKYPE Number. It tells me to update my payment method. Which I have and it workks (I have bought more credits). But it doesn't seem to make the payment for the SKYPE Number. Any ideas?

Here it is:

Clicking on the "settings" link brings me to the page:
The VISA account showing is a new payment method I have entered after receiving the notice. It does indicate "Paid With" above the account reference - however there has not been any transaction logged at the Bank site, and my Skype account continues to indicate that my subscription expires today.
There are no other options other than "Change payment method", and even when I change that to Skype Credit the issue is not resolved.

I tried to renew my Skype number back in November and it still shows "pending". My skype number is not working and I need to keep that number. Suggestions?

I am going on my honeymoon to Virgin Islands. Can my elderly mother in the US call my US Skype Number from her landline to reach me in case of an emergency or do I need to set up a Virgin Island Skype number?

Yes she can. Your US Skype Number travels with you anywhere. Your location is irrelevant as long as your computer or device has a high speed internet connection.

My Skype number will expire, and it doesn't let me...

I got a notification that my Skype number will expire in 2 days because my credit card has expired, and that no further charges will occur. I updated my credit card information and then looked for a place to renew it. In my account where it shows me my phone number there is a "settings" button, but when I click on it, it just refreshes the page. There is another button to "Get another Skpe Number" but that only lets me get a new number. I want to renew my current number subscription because I don't want to lose that number, but there is no place to renew it, unless the "settings" button is the place, but that doesn't work. I thought it might be a browser or network issue, so I tried from FireFox and Chrome from two different networks and the button still just refreshes. So, I looked for a support email to email for support and don't see one.
Can any one help in directing me where I can renew my skype number before it expires?

My Skype number is about to expire?

I have just received an email saying my Skype number is about to expire, but there is money in the account. Why would they do that and will they refund the money still there? Could it be because I haven't used the Skype number for a while, and if I do use it in the meantime will the expiration be stopped?

Skype number renewal

I am consistently receiving email notices from Skype that my number will expire in x days.
For what i read here, it seems the only solution is to wait for it to expire and then apparently it renews automatically.
If this is the case, why doesn't the automatic message that is sent out say that instead of saying the number willl expire.
Very poor customer communication for an allegedly top comms company.
Of course it remains to be seen what actually happens when i reach the due date for expiry of the number!

If you have changed your payment method from what was originally used or designated when the Skype Number subscription was started, then yes - you will need to wait for the subscription to expire and then sign on to your account dashboard to renew the subscription ("reactivate") using the new payment method.
Otherwise, if there is no change in the payment method, the renewal will occur automatically. I can confirm the automatic renewal works as I just recently had a Skype Number renew. Interestingly enough, I did not receive an advance notice e-mail alerting me to the impending renewal, although I received a payment and renewal confirmation e-mail. I will raise the e-mail inconsistency with those to whom I report.
Skype's billing systems should try to renew the subscription again, three days prior to the Skype Number subscription's expiration. In Basil's case, now that his PayPal account has been funded, the renewal should process as usual.
If I understand Basil's post correctly, however, he changed his payment method from PayPal to Skype Credit. Therefore, upon expiration, Basil should sign on to his account dashboard, where there should be a triangle icon alert announcing the Skype Number subscription needs to be reactivated, and then proceed with the renewal process where there is a step to change the payment method.

Skype Number Expired -- but it's not

I really hate the notion of posting to a forum when I want a proper "contact us" on this website.
Why does Skype tell me that my number is expiring but doesn't allow me to continue the subscription?

could you please provide screenshots for what you see on your Skype Number tab and in your Skype Number settings, if neither of cases below seems to apply for you?
Skype Number tab:
If your Skype Number's expiry date is approaching, three different links can appear where I marked the yellow arrow:
"Extend" link: if your Skype Number is not billed automatically but you have to pay for each billing period separately. When you click "Extend", you will be redirected to purchase of the same Skype Number for new billing period (you pay > the expiry date will move to 1, 3 or 12 months from your last expiry date).
This "Expire" link is also displayed if the number has been allocated to you from Skype Manager (company account). In this case you can merely ask your Skype Manager administrator to prolong the number via a form (you will get there by clicking "Extend"), but it has to be manually managed from the admin account in Skype Manager (in Features > Skype Number page of SM admin). You cannot extend the number from your member account in this case.
"Reactivate" link: if a) you have cancelled your Skype Number, or b) your Skype Number has already expired, you can click "Reactivate". In case of a), you would simply reactivate your number and it would continue to be active. In case of b), you have 90 days of reservation period to pay for your number and then it becomes active again.
"Settings" link: if you have recurring payment set up for your Skype Number, which means you are billing automatically every 1, 3 or 12 months. Your number can be expiring because the last recurring payment has failed (it can be due to expired credit card, insufficient Skype credit or many other reasons). In this case, you have to go to your Skype Number settings and change payment method, see following screenshot:

If you do not need a Skype Number and have never used it, please contact Skype customer service to cancel the subscription and to request a refund.
