Rental film cannot be opened

Question

I cannot open a rental film that I just purchased. It gives an error. I opened it once but then I had to restart ipad. There are still 1day and 16 hours to expire.

The problem is No Rosetta
No, it's some other problem.  Rosetta is only required for the FCE Installer to run, not FCE itself.
I suspect there are  missing files that  TM did not or could not restore when the OP restored FCE.    There are quite a few folders & files required in different places in addition to the FCE app itself, for example:
/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Express Support  (Custom Settings folder & Plugins folder may be needed, even if empty)
/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro Support  (the folder alone may be required, even if empty)
/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro Support/Plugins (the folder alone may be required, even if empty)
/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Final Cut Express System ID
/Library/Application Support/ProApps/ProAppSystemID  (may or may not be required)
/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins (various plugins)
/Library/Frameworks/ProFX.framework
/Library/Frameworks/Receipts (who knows, maybe the receipts are also required)
/users/username/Library/Preferences
/users/username/Library/Preferences/Final Cut Express User Settings  (FCE will create the contents, but I'm not certain FCE creates the actual folder)
These are the main folders & files I've been able to identify.  Note that some of the folders mentioned have various files in them that I haven't listed here.  And then there's the fact that some of these items may have been relocated in Lion (compared to Leopard or Snow Leopard) ... and there may be more files, and even some hidden files.   All you could do is examine the TM drive to see what FCE-related folders & files are there compared to what is on the Lion system HD.  But remember, you're on your own here ...
This is a good example of why Final Cut Express and Lion are not compatible and FCE isn't supported on Lion.
