Rental From iPad to iMac

I recently rented Zero Dark Thirty on my iPad. This was about 2 weeks ago while on vacation. I thought that I would have watched it by now but for various reasons this didn't happen. So the movie is sitting on my iPad and I thought that when I attach the iPad to the iMac the movie would automatically sync so that it would also reside on the iMac. That way I could then watch it via iTV on the big screen rather than on the iPad. However the movie does not show up in iTunes when the iPad is selected under Devices. So it's as if iTunes doesn't even see it on the iPad let alone sync it over to the iMac. How can I get this movie on to the iMac?
Cheers
John

That is correct

If you rent on your computer you can transfer but it will only be available on one device
Purchases can be synced across devices and are also available in the cloud
This has to do with the licensing agreements

Should iMessages sent from iPad or iMac show as sent messages on iPhone?
So when having an iMessage conversation as the advert suggests. You can carry it on using any of your os devices, but only the messages sent to you appears on all the devices but the messages sent by you only appear on the device you sent it from.

Yes, if you have everything set up correctly and all of your devices are synced then that should be how it works.
Edit:  I appologize, I should have read your question more thoroughly.  If your devices are synced together, then the entire conversation should show up on all devices no matter which one you sent it from.  If you are having trouble with this working, visit this thread and follow the instructions on page 1.

If you rented it on a computer, use the Transfer Purchases function in iTunes.

    Hello KatieJen,
Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities.
The following article gives methods of transferring media. For your specific question, look at the third and fourth sections, "Camera Roll photos and videos" and "Photos synced from a computer".

If the photos are the photos from the camera roll, you can import them using iPhoto or Image Capture on your Mac. You can read about it here.

You can also use a third party WiFi app like this one.

  • Transferring old photos from Ipad to Imac using usb cable or local wifi?

Can anyone tell me how I transfer old photos from Ipad to Imac?  These were originally on a PC (now disposed of).  I can see how to transfer new photos from Camera Roll using Iphoto, but my 10 year archive with 1000s of photos appears stuck on my Ipad.  I have a very slow internet connection, so I can't send them across by email and would like a solution involving the usb cable if possible.
Worryingly this question appears several times in old threads but appears to be unanswered, but I will be pleased to be referred to the right thread with all the answers - if it exists!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Connect the iPad (USB) to your Mac then launch the Image Capture app. It's located in your Applications folder.
You can import photos from the iPad using that application.
You can even designate where you want to the photos stored on your Mac and which app you want to use for editing from the bottom of the Image Capture window.

  • How to sun all calendars from iPad to iMac to iCloud?

Ever since I upgraded to the Maveric operating system for my imac, I've having trouble syning all icals from iphones to ipads to imac.  A lot of times, events entered through the imac just won't syn up with my iphone nor ipad.  Is anyone elese experiencing this problem?  Does anyone have any solution to this problem?  By the way, I don't save the most important information on iCloud, but devices can be updated through Wifi at home only.  Got hacked too many times through public wifis.

Almost same problem. My iphone will sync to iCal on mac but if I add something in my iCal on my mac it won't sync with my iphone. It used to work...

  • How do I transfer photos from iPad to iMac?

I want photos to transfer from ipad to iphoto on the imac so my photos are all in one main place.
I've backed up once or twice and know that I have to have the ipad plugged into the mains and using wi-fi and launch itunes from the imac.
But after backing up which takes ages... none of the photos I took on the ipad have appeared in iphoto on the imac.
I have tried several things in 'Camera' on the ipad.  I've 'shared' the latest photos from 'camera roll' (edit, share) and put in photostream - which then appear in the main 'photo' app on the ipad.  But again they don't back up to the imac.
What exactly am I leaving out here?  And using itunes - well it beats me why we have to use that.  Why can't they develop an app that is just for backing up and selectively so.  The whole process is just not intuitive as I am used to within the Mac world.  When I take a few photos here and there on the ipad (or whatever on the ipad) I don't always want to have to back up the whole ipad again - just the photos I took!  It's just not necessary to waste all that time for a few photos.
I've been using Macs since 1987 and feel daft not being able to work this simple one out!
Thanks to anyone who can save me a trip to the Apple store for coaching....

On a Mac a backup is stored under :
    ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
But you probably won't be able to make much, if any, sense of the backup files unless you restore them onto a device.
Syncing is when you copy content to the device from your computer. If you want to be able to access your iPad's files on your Mac then, depending upon what the app that they are in supports, you might be able to copy them via the file sharing section on the device's Apps tab (file sharing), copy them via your wifi network, email them to yourself, use Dropbox - for photos you can copy them as above. If you want to copy things that you've purchased directly on your iPad (e.g. music, films, apps etc) over to your Mac's iTunes then you should be able to do so via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option.
Edit : got distracted half-way through typing this, so Demo's reply appeared after I started it but before I finished.

  • Sketchbook Express transfer from iPad to iMac

Does anyone happen to know what happens to the content within an the apps when it is transferred from the iPad to iMac?- does it go with the app or is it stored elsewhere on the iPad?  I use Sketchbook express a lot on teh iPad and am preparing for an update of teh iPad to iso5, and don't want to lose the sketches in teh sketchbook Express gallery (some of which are not finished).  We have a fair few sketches in the gallery.....will these be saved in the app transfer or will just be the app itself.....if it is just the app, I will have to transfer each image to the photo library and then transfer using image capture.....then it will be a process to get the images back into Sketchbook pro so that they can be worked on more.....(guess I should also post this question to an app discussion)

These should be saved in your back-ups, but just as a caution I would save them seperately, because several on here have mentioned losing apps when upgrading. When I upgraded my iPhone and I lost the apps as well. Just a heads up.

  • Backing up e-books from iPad to iMac

Hi! I use different apps: Stanza, Kobo, GoogleBooks, Kindle and iBooks, of course. How do I back it up to PC? "Transfer purchases" only syncs iBooks, and it does not deal with Stanza etc. Hundreds of books I've got for free from Stanza are not free any more. I'd hate to loose them. So, how do I get actual e-books FILES from iPad to my iMac?
    Thank you

  • Can I stream video from iPad to iMac?

    Hi,
can i stream video (movies) from iPad to my iMac?
    Thanks

There are ways to stream media from your Mac to your iPad, but I do not know of a method to go iPad to Mac.
Boxee is rumored to be preparing an app for iPad that may do that, but I have not heard that it is out.

If you want the benefits of iTunes in the Cloud for music you haven’t purchased from iTunes, iTunes Match is the perfect solution. It’s built right into the iTunes app on your Mac or PC and the Music app on your iOS devices. And it lets you store your entire collection, including music you’ve imported from CDs or purchased somewhere other than iTunes. For just $24.99 a year.

  • HT201272 Can't get movie rental from iPad air to show up on iPhone 4S?

How do you get a movie rental on iPad air to show up on iPhone 4S so we can watch??

You can't, rentals are one-time only downloads, and from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1657 :
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
