Rental not showing.....

Hi - I rented a movie a few days ago from itunes to my iMac. I then transferred it to my iphone. I did not start the movie so it is down to 27 days remaining before it expires. I decided to watch it on my Apple TV - so I synched up my iphone and successfully transferred the movie from my iphone to the iTunes library. I see it showing in the "Rented Movies" section of the library. I also just updated my Apple TV to the latest update. It is still not showing up on the Apple TV menu - any thoughts?
thanks - Steve

I must admit that whilst I purchase very little from my tv, I do tend to rent movies that way, but I seem to recall you need to transfer the movie from itunes to the tv before you can watch it.

Movie rental not showing up in play list even though I confirmed purchase - where did it go?

Downloaded films (and those synced from your computer) should be in the Videos app (iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store) :

  • Rental Not Showing in Rentals Tab

I rented an episode of a TV series. In my purchases history, it shows that I did indeed rent the episode. However, when I click on the Rentals tab in iTunes, the episode is nowhere to be found. I did not receive any error messages. It's simply gone. I did not delete it. I have restarted my computer and it is still not showing up. Suggestions?

I had the exact same problem. I fixed it after deleting an episode that I had rented but already watched. This managed to refresh the Rental folder for whatever reason. I did email Apple tech support and will update this post with anything that they might add. Hopefully this helps...

  • IPad iTunes rental not showing up

I just rented an episode of Torchwood on my iPad via ITunes.
I paid for and downloaded the episode.
BUT, the episode is not showing up anywhere on my iPad at all. It's as though i never even downloaded it. Except, when I tried to re-rent it, I an given an alert that tells me I'd already rented it and gives me the option to rent it again (ie, pay for a second rental).
What do I do? I'm incredibly frustrated and upset.

The first thing i did was restart my iPad. Didn't work at all.
I did fix it though, and it's a really annoying solution. All i did was plug it into a computer and opened itunes. The video was instantly there, and suddenly showed up on the iPad too. Without doing anything.
That's really annoying because the whole point of the iPad is portability. For this reason, i didn't bring my laptop with me on vacation. Luckily, i was able to find someone with a mac to solve this problem, otherwise i would be completely out of luck.
Why is there a rental download feature othe iPad if you have to boot it up on a computer with iTunes to see it? It completely invalidates everything useful about the feature.
This is something that needs to be fixed immediately.

  • Why are my rentals not showing up in iTunes?

I have recently rented a movie in the current version of iTunes and it will not show up.  i can search the title with spotlight and it finds it but it will not play from there.  The rental option in itunes does not even show up as an option to select.  i then just downloaded the movie again on my apple TV and was able to view it but i was charged for two rentals.

    HI Brad,
I tried downloading initially I rented the SD version which I had issues with. I then Rented the HD version of the  video & it worked.
I then emailed [email protected], and explained the issue & asked for a refund. I got a response in less than 24 hours in which they gave me a no  nonsense apology & full refund. Just be nice in the email with please & thank yous.
    Best of luck

  • Movie rental not showing on itunes

I downloaded a movie rental on my iPad, and when I sync it to my iTunes that is on my macbook pro, it does not show up so that I can play it via Apple TV. why is this?

From the iTunes Store Movie Rental FAQ:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1657
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

  • HT201611 Rentals not showing across devices

I rented a movie on my Apple TV last night and would like to watch parts of it again today on my iPhone (as I'm out of the house) but it's not showing up on my iPhone (or iTunes on my computer). My account has registered that I rented it last night and charged me. Can I watch it again on my iPhone? My apple TV is switched off at home so it won't be playing twice.
    Thanks

Rentals are a one-time only download, they won't show on other devices or computers for redownloading, and if you downloaded it on your Apple TV then that is the only place that you can watch it : About renting movies from the iTunes Store - Apple Support :
If you rented the movie on your computer, but want to watch it on an iOS device, connect the devices and sync using USB. When you move a rented movie from your computer, it will disappear from your computer’s iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as often as you want, but you can only have it on one device at a time.
If you rented the movie on your iOS device or Apple TV, you can’t move it to any other device.

  • HT1657 movie rentals not showing up in library

  • Rentals not showing up for ipad

i rented two tv shows to watch on a plane on my ipad. when i plug my ipad in, they don't show up. they DO show up when i plug my iphone in, but i wanted to watch on the ipad. any thoughts? thx.

You can only have a rental movie on one Apple product at any one time, so if the movie is on your iPhone, it can't also be on your iPad or your Mac.
Using iTunes, you have to move the movie from your iPhone to your iPad or Mac.

  • Music and Movie rentals not showing up in IPhone library..?

Today I rented three movie of of iTunes on my iPhone. After they were done loading I made sure they were in my movies library, which they were. But now four hours later when I want to watch one of these rentals, they simply aren't showing up in my library, nor are 847 other songs that I've downloaded. I really want to watch this movie but I can't get onto it! Thanks for any help!

Have you carried out a search, did you see it download, have you tried redownloading it.

  • Rentals not showing up on AppleTV

Hi - I downloaded 2 movies as rentals on 11th June - both were going to take more than 3hrs (each) which was not normal (I'm on broadband) - couldn't get it to change so I reset the AppleTV (2nd gen) both movies still came up as rentals - I downloaded one which took 40 minutes which still seemed way too long compared to previous rentals, I chose to watch later as it took so long and was too late to watch. I turned the appleTV on last night and neither of the movies are in the rentals for me to watch, I can't figure out why they are not there for me to download, particularly if we have 30 days to watch them.
    Any ideas?

Did you or anyone else start watching?
30 days is to start watching, but once you've started you have 24-48 hours to view depending on where you live.
In Settings there's an option to check for downloads/rentals somewhere.

  • HT4095 Movie rental not showing up

I paid for a movie rental, but it didn't download. It shows up in my videos but it isn't viewable. I can't find it to download in iTunes either. So how do I go about "redownloading" this?

    Never mind. Rebooted. Problem resolved.

  • HT1551 I ordered a rental movie on my computer and want to watch it on my 1st generation apple TV and it is not showing up there...any suggestions?

I ordered a rental movie on my computer and want to watch it on my 1st generation apple TV and it is not showing up there...any suggestions?

I had same problem last night with a movie rental not showing up under the 'Rented' tab in iTunes/Movies on my iMac: as I had no other rentals, there was no 'Rented' tab at all.
In iTunes 11, the Downloads icon only appears next to the Search bar while there is an active download. Once any  downloads are finished, the icon disappears.  I had no icon so I had to assume the downloading had finished (in the previous UI you could check download progress even after they had finished).
My movie rental did, however, show up under 'Rented Movies' under the 'Movies' tab in iTunes/Devices/(select any i/device) so I knew it was somewhere in my iTunes.  Yet, we couldn't access it via Apple TV.
I fiddle around for a bit, restarting iTunes, restarting the iMac, to no avail.  Then I did a little housekeeping and moved a different movie I'd imported awhile ago, from the 'Home Videos' tab under iTunes/Movies.  Under File/Get Info, the 'Media Kind' was incorrectly set to 'Home Video' so I changed it to 'Movie'.  Thus the file was moved over into the Movies tab.  Hey Presto!  The Rented tab suddenly showed up, and there was my rented movie!
This is the second time a movie rental did not show up after downloading.  Unfortunately my husband initiated the download so we figured he must've messed up somehow as he's not as familiar with iTunes as me.  Hence we opted to download the movie under a different iTunes account, which worked the second time with no problem.  Needless to say the invoice for the original download had no problem in finding us, hence we were effectively being charged twice for the same movie!  We have to contact apple support (such a hassle) but hopefully they will understand the issue (that's the difficult bit) and they are usually good at refunding when they finally accept the customer is genuine in their claim.
In case anyone is tempted to critique my method, we download rentals through iTune on our computer as we had too many problems trying to rent via Apple TV.  Often the movie was not available to watch for many hours after it was rented, even though we'd start 'download' halfway through the day and sit down at night to watch it!  We have also had problems with movies that kept stopping during viewing because it wasn't streaming fast enough.  We'd give some time and come back to viewing, only to encounter the same.  One time we gave gave up and tried again the next evening, only to find the movie expired.  There is meant to be 48 hours after you've started viewing to resume watching a movie.  Apple's only response to this was to advise we needed a broadband internet connection to stream the movie - this was despite me already telling them we have broadband.
Anyway, I hope this helps anyone experiencing similar issues with movie downloads.

  • Movie rentals that I downloaded onto iMac with Lion to do not show up on ATV 2 in menu for computers.  Purchased movies show up just fine.  What to do or look for?

I have an imac that is running lion and an Apple TV generation 2.  I have rented a movie from itunes and it shows up on my imac in Itunes under a rental icon, and will play fine on my computer.  However, it does not show up as choice to play on my apple tv.  I have homesharing enabled and everything else works fine including purchased movies that are on my imac, but no where does it show rental movies.
What do I look for?  What do I do to play the rental movie on my apple tv 2?

    Answer to my own question:
Wait until the downloaded rental has completed its download to the imac.  This took a long time for me, since it was part of several things that I was downloading at the same time.
Finally, it showed up on my apple tv.   Interestingly, I was able to watch much of the movie on my iMac before the movie finished its download and was available to the ATV 2.

  • HT1551 Rentals do not show up on Apple TV, can somebody tell me why?

Can anybody tell me why movie rentals purchased on the iPad do not show up on the Apple TV?

You can only view that rental on the iPad. For it to show up it has to be rented directly on ATV or through a computer and streamed via home sharing
