Rental won't stop downloading

Rented a movie on my iPad, watched it (well, 90%), and the 24 hour rental period is well past.  Want to rent another movie, but even though aforementioned movie rental has been deleted (manually by me) from the "videos" app, it still shows up in iTunes and wants to download. There are two really weird and annoying problems with this:
1. It keeps restarting download from the same place ( like 22k downloaded) every time I go out of iTunes and then back in. This means the movie doesn't actually ever get downloaded.
2. The pause download button is not present, as it usually is for iTunes downloads on the iPad.
To make matters worse, the iPad wants to download the old, already watched and expired movie first, so the movie I've purchase a new rental for is waiting in queue.
Help.

Hello,
As an immediate way to stop the downloads, you could turn off your internet connection by clicking on the Wi-Fi icon in your top right menu bar, then clicking, "turn off Wi-Fi."
You could then delete the files that were accidentally downloaded.
After that, you could restart your computer and see if it starts downloading again.
Hope that helps!
Micah

Downloading a movie from i-tunes, it won't stop downloading from i-tunes but it is downloaded on my i-pad. What do I do to stop it?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If those don't work - sign out of your account - Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad and then go back to Settings>Store and sign in again.

  • How do you stop itunes video download on ipad? No pause button appears. Won't stop downloading, over and over again.

I purchased a tv episode on my ipad. It started to download, after an hour it gave an error message. The episode appeared in videos, I watched it. Then I discovered it was still downloading. It gets up to the end, then starts all over again. Nothing I do will stop it. There is no pause button, nothing happens when I swipe it. I've tried everything, turning off, signing out of appleid, it basically eats up my bandwith nonstop and I can no longer use my ipad. How do I get this thing to stop downloading?

to the right by search library theres an arrow there click on it : it will show you what it is downloading , from there you can pause and select all and delete them but still will continue to download them if you tell itunes to check for downloads. that download engien is crazy i tell yeah.
no matter what we do it will still download them trust me i tryed everything and i also went to icloud to see if it was there but to what i see is that there is no apps there this is some crazy itune program that needs to remade.

  • ITunes won't stop downloading TV shows

Last December I was going on vacation and began downloading the entire season of Pan-Am. After watching one episode, I decided to stop the downloads. Ever since, every time I connect my iPhone to my laptop or even just start iTunes, it continues to try downloading the episodes. I have deleted the episodes, I have gone into the iTunes folder and deleted them, and nothing has worked. I cannot stop downloading them! I pause them every time I open it, but I would like to stop completely.

This did not work for me.
    Nothing works for me.
Sometimes when I load iTunes, it tries to automatically download all sorts of TV shows I purchased.
Even Season 2 episodes of Dexter I watched long ago.
Not every time.  Maybe every other time?  Or every third time I load iTunes.
It seems so arbitrary, that I think it's seriously trying to mess with me.
It also happens when I select "Check for Available Downloads" --
I don't have a good enough internet connection to download 57 gigabytes worth of TV I don't want to watch.
Even if I delete Dexter from iCloud.
Even if I pause the downloads and mark them as watched.
    Nothing works.
    Dexter will not go away.
    I want to murder iTunes.

  • Mail won't stop downloading messages... and won't quit either...

It just started a few days ago. It has been working just fine, even after I upgraded to Tiger (which was several months ago, finally). Over the last few days, when I launch Mail.app, it downloads all the same messages that have been on the server since Friday and won't ever complete the download. It just spins and spins. SO, the messages are never officially retrieved and removed from my POP server (which is a setting I have turned on). If I force quit the app. Or even quit the process (which doesn't usually have any effect), I then relaunch Mail.app and it re-downloads all the messages. Now I have about 5 copies of all these messages. And I can't seem to just quit the app.
I read a post that involved trashing the inbox and reimporting it back in. I'm not sure if that is the approach here. OR, if I can infact, just delete a particular cache file or temp file, or something that might get the Mail.app un-stuck.
Any thoughts? Let me know if you need any more specifics.
    Thanks!

Mail 1.x used MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded to keep track of which messages had already been downloaded from the server. Mail 2.x uses MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2 for the same purpose. It could be that there is something wrong with that file, or with your Inbox, but it could also be that Mail is choking on some troublesome message on the server. Let's try this first:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/.
    3. Move the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded files to the Trash.
    4. Move INBOX.mbox to the Desktop (don't trash it), to be imported later.
As a result or removing the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded files, Mail will try to download everythng still on the server as if new. You can use the Account Info window first to remove from the server any messages you don't want to be downloaded again. In order to do that, choose Get Info (⌘I) from the Action menu (gear icon) located below the mailboxes list in the main Mail window -- type "Account Info" in the search field of Mail Help for more information on this feature.

  • Digital Booklet Won't Stop Downloading

a few weeks ago i purchased an album on itunes that included a digital booklet...the album downloaded fine, and it began to download the booklet..it got to 99% and failed because of an error..since then, every single time i open itunes (literally) it attempts to finish the download, and every single time it fails. I've been able to download other albums with booklets with no problem, so it appears to be just this one.. i don't even want the booklet, i want it to stop trying to download every time i open itunes. when i try and delete the booklet from the library it simply doesn't delete; neither right-clicking and selecting delete, nor dragging to the trash work. any tips? thanks in advance..

Either try to dl that pending booklet on another computer or contact iTMS customer support and ask them to clear your download queue

  • My computer won't stop downloading a song

I purchased some songs yesterday.  Its been about 24 hours and it says it still downloading.  I try to delete or pause and nothing will stop it

The same thing happened to me right before Christmas. On the phone with Apple Care, all sorts of tests, nothing. On the phone with a tech friend of mine, same tests, nothing. Genius Bar at the Apple Store, same tests, nothing. Finally, he confirmed that my hard drive was indeed damaged and that it would have to be replaced. Then the Genius and I call him that lovingly, put in DiskWarrior (something he told me they weren't supposed to do) and it fixed it. He told me it might happen again and that eventually I would have to replace the hard drive. I went right out and bought DiskWarrior4 to have with me at all times. Knock on wood, it's been working ever since.
    Good Luck!

  • My cloud won't stop downloading itunes to new iphone4s

I recnetly purchased CPO iphone4s and downloaded my ipod content and apps from the cloud.  it's now in a loop downloading, won't let me update anything and is asking for a 5 year old apple id my husband doesn't have anymore (email is gone too so can't reset). I though this was supposed to be "seamless", but i've wasted almost an entire 2 days on this nonsense and am ready to just go to a droid phone and get rid of iTunes.   Any suggestions?

Thanks Allan.  Sorry to confuse you about my computer.
I have a MacBook Pro, purchased by myself in early 2008; operating system 10.8.5
When I try to sync my iPhone 5 to my MacBook Pro I keep getting the message:
"This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “Roy Johnson’s iPhone”.
Would you like to authorize this computer for      items purchased from the iTunes Store?"
When I click the "Authorize" button I get the drop down menu to enter my Apple ID password.
The problem is, the password demanded is to an old email address I only used one year after
buying the MacBook Pro in 2008.  My old address is listed as:
         "[email protected]"
Again, I no longer have or us that email address.  My current email address is a "gmail" address.
When I enter my old "@mac.com" password, presented is:
         "This computer is already authorized."
I click "OK".  Then am presented the following message:
"This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “Roy Johnson’s iPhone”.
Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?"
I'm suck in an endless loop and don't know how to extricate myself from it.
    Any thoughts, suggestions?  Thanks.

  • Mail won't stop downloading messages long ago deleted from server

I'm setting up my new macbook (with snow leopard) and I'm running into a problem with Mail. Even though I've deleted all my junk mail from the Google server and emptied the trash, Mail will still download everything every email I've received in the 2+ years I've had my gmail account (thousands of them)! Some of these messages are ones that I thought I got rid of years ago, it's a little scary to know they're still out there. If I go through the whole inbox, delete them, and empty my trash, they all just come back the next time I check for new mail. The gmail trash is also empty -- when I log into that there are only 50 messages in the inbox and nothing else. Help please!

The reason is that the emails aren't really deleted.
    They're "marked for deletion."
Gmail (as much as I understand it) is a variation on imap.
In an imap account, when you "delete" an email, it's marked for deletion.
The client then either stops displaying it, or displays it with s trike through, depending on client and setup.
To actually get rid of it permanently, you have to Purge the emails as well.
I don't know that Gmail will allow a purge, since their stated intent is to not delete any email, but to retain it forever.
I would suggest using a full email client like Thunderbird to send the proper Purge commands and see what happens.
Or, you use pop and set the date range in the gmail config.
