Rentals that won't let you move the file
I have a few rentals that I can't get on my new nano, the move function doesn't even appear, any ideas on what I should do?
Is it the hd version?
If so, you will need to sync the SD version.

LindaThere are no viruses for the iPad. Close the mail app and reboot the iPad.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the Mail app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

How can you turn off the braille setting on an iPhone 4s, once on it won't let you slide the phone into use mode to change the settings or do anything?
An alternate method is Accessibility Settings when connected to iTunes. You should be able to turn it off there. I would also check out some of the answers listed to the right of this post and see if they can help.

How do you move all files related to my movie from the computer hard drive to the external hard drive without having to relocate the files in FCE. Also, where would you move the files to? pelase as much details as possible. thanks.
Move the contents of the Final Cut Express Documents folder (in "Documents") to the external. You will have to reconnect no matter what, sorry.

Have downloaded a .epub file from a third party publisher to my pc. Publisher advises that iTunes is needed to move the file to my iPad. iTunes installed on both pc and iPad. What's next?
Drag or copy the file into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder in your library (default location C:\Users\user_name\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media), or add it manually using File > Add File to Library ... If the file is compatible with iTunes it'll be added to your library and can then be synced with your iPad.

I created a movie w/ no theme and added my raw footage to it. I edited and was ready to export but wouldn't let me share the file. When I tried to export to a file, in the "Theater" view the progress bar stayed empty and there were no files created in the target folder.
I closed iMovie (since it should auto-save my work) to try again and when I re-opened iMovie (took a couple tries, as it froze the first time I opened it) there was no movie. No trace of any of the work I had done, other than the raw imported footage.
Two questions:
1) Why isn't iMovie autosaving the movie?
2) Why wasn't I able to export it?What exactly is the error you get?

There's almost certainly a way to accomplish what you want to do (probably best from the terminal possibly copying the entire user dir and fixing up permissions, etc.) but I'm not sure you will end up with the results you want. There are plists in the preferences dir that you probably don't want to copy over (e.g., many of the com.apple.* prefererences). And many apps also create more than just plists. There may be stuff in Application Support, LaunchAgents, Internet Plug-Ins, etc.). And this would be stuff you do want to copy. Bottom line is it is not a trivial exercise which is probably why the system is slapping your hands for even attempting it -
.DS_store won't let me move files from one external drive to another
I am trying to move some music files from one external harddrive to another. They are both connected to my mac mini.
In the "from" harddrive I have a folder with a bunch of music files in it and it also has a new file in it called DS_store. When I open this folder and select all, it naturally selects all of my music files and this DS_store file. When I try to drag all of this to the "destination" harddrive I open the folder that I want to drag them to which already has some music and it has the DS_store file too, it won't let me drag the files to it It says something like there is already a DS_store file there. So I tried deleting that file from each external drive and it just reappears.
If I create an empty folder in the destination drive, I can drag all of the files to it. The problem is I want the new files to be in the same folder with the older files.
In addition there are a few other ghost type files that have shown up too.

Back up all data.
Select the text on the line below by dragging across it. Don't include the blank space at the end of the line. Only the text should be highlighted.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Now switch to the Finder and and select the icon of the FAT volume. Drag into the Terminal window. More text will be added to what you entered.
Click in the Terminal window to activate it, then press return.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear. Then quit Terminal and try the copy again. -
How do I change icm/keep_alive_timeout ? (SMICM won't let you do it.)
In SMICM (Go To -> Parameters->Change), you can change the vvalue of icm/conn_timeout from its default value of 5000 msec.
But the transaction won't let you change the value of icm/keep_alive_timeout from its defailt value of 60 seconds, even though the documentation for the parameter says you can override it. (The "new" value column entry is grey instead of yellow.)
So how DO you change icm/keep_alive_timeout if SMICM won't let you change it?
I am pretty sure it's this parameter that is resulting in the following message when I attempt to run a WDA demo application:

I did it the way the help library says - by editing the start-up profile for the instance and changing timeout and proctimeout on icm/server_port ...
But your way is a lot nicer - I'll try it tomorrow.

Some movie rentals will download but there is the odd Rental that won't. how do I get those ones to work?

Move your IN point a few seconds into the clip, and then drop it into the timeline.

My 2013 Macbook Pro running Mavericks 10.9.5 won't let me move files to the HD without authentication. So I have to keep putting my password in. Also when I try to move files from the HD to the desk it just copies them. This just suddenly happened last night. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Thanks

Help - i recently made put together a high quality movie for a relative, it has taken me months to complete and it goes for a total of 9 hours and 43 minutes ,however, it won't let me export the video at all! please help - its taken ages to make it!

Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned abo
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. How do i synch my pdf/books to my Itunes library. I was able to synch my ipod touch app purchases by transferring them but can't figure out how to do my pdfs. Also why is my ipod picture greyed out-the one that lets my move the icons around.
I am afraid if i don't get the pdfs into my book library, i will lose them when i update to IOS 5-is that true?thank you-i have to check into the authorization and the account-i gave my husband my old ipod when i updated last year so both at one time have been on this computer but as it stands, it only comes up with my device when i plug into Itunes.
i don't think i have any restrictions for installing apps although my normal way of doing it is to download from the ipod touch. i did find that all i had to do was right click on my device name and got the message to transfer my apps and then they showed up in my library. Also when i clicked the synch checkbox i was able to view the ipod touch picture without it being greyed out. after all that i was able toupdate to IOS 5 successfully except my videos and podcast, and pdfs did not come over. This confuses me since i had dragged them over to my library to make sure that i had everything in my library and on my device. Not a big problem, since i just dragged them in itunes from my library to my device but sometimes i wonder if i understand the big picture:) -
So whenever I try to download the newest itunes file it won't let me finish the install process because I'm missing the "Itunes.msi" file whatever that is and I've done some searches but I cannot find the file. Anyone know what to do?
