Rented a movie but it stopped and won't continue.
Posting for a friend: She rented a movie through iTunes and was watching it on her MacBook Pro. After about an hour it stopped, and wouldn't continue. She could go back to the beginning and start over, but when she tried to move past the point at which it had stopped, it would not.
Any ideas? Especially on how to contact actual Apple/iTunes tech support to actually fix this situation?

It sounds like the rental never finished downloading. Try the download process again.
"Once the rental is downloaded, you can watch it on your computer or transfer the rental to a supported iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV (1st generation):"

I rented a movie and it downloaded to 95% but it stopped and won't let me watch it. Help
Can't watch a rented movie. Keeps saying it can't download at this time. My account was charged though. I have plenty of room on my iPad.
I don't understand why it won't play.yes and when I push the icon to download and go through all 3 steps it says this version is already downloaded. so i close the browser and try to download the document again and it says the same error

I Rented a movie on my ipad and it won't play I have enough space and I paid for it but it has a ploblem playing. What do I do?
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar at bottom
2. Hold the Videos app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close app
4. Re-launch the app and test

Apple TV 2 with rebooting the iPhone 7.04 and iMac running Mavericks and rebooting TV etc today. Selected to rent a movie but it started to download and we lost it. Tried to rent again and was told it wasn't downloaded. Went to settings and only get spinning circle when I try to download the rental. So far, I looked at your first solution, Revo Uninstaller and it gives you a 30 free trial. Ergo, it will eventually cost money so I'm leery of using those kinds of programs in general, meaning most "free trials" have unwanted strings attached and often are big probs to get rid of later. Perhaps you can assure me that it is easy and very user friendly, before I proceed. And I already ran malwarebytes and it found nothing tho the program still can't be uninstalled. I downloaded Adw Cleaner and during the install, my Norton's security popped up and warned that there were (low risk) threats with two of their "other offers" and i hadn't even actually clicked to agree either of them. Nonetheless, Norton warned me against the "lyrics finder" and "deal ply." In fact, there was a box already with an x in it, saying that you are accepting deal ply if you x on "next." Well, except I unchecked that box before clicking on next, yet when it went to fully install, it still showed that it was adding itself; so, just before the install was 100% completed, I had to abort the whole thing. I really do hope your other suggestions are programs that you personally know that they don't try and trick you. But right now, I would not suggest Adw Cleaner to anyone. I even read the fine print about what they will try and install and how to decline and it still tried sticking stuff on that i believed I had declined. Anyways, i have to leave now, shall pick up later this evening, if my pc is still functioning. -
My apps won't download to my iPad but will to my phone. When I put it my password, it just stops and won't do anything else????
Unless you have a copy of the iPod backup file from the previous computer installation you are out of luck. If yo have that file move it to your computer and restore the iPod from that backup. Otherwise, you will have to restore the iPod to factoery defaults/new iPod and lose all your app date. That is the way it is since the iPod sees the computer as a new computer/iTunes library. That backup file is located:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\ -
I have rented two movies on my laptop and they will not completely download..it shows that they are theere but when i try to watch them on my laptop or my ipad it wont open up???? help

A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals. -
I rented a movie a few hours ago and never finished it. I can't view it on my Apple TV nor on my Computer. When I go to rent it again it says you have already rented this movie, but I can't find it anywhere. How do I watch the remainder of the rental?
I had the same issue with my apple tv 3rd generation. I rented Sinister and selected the "rent and watch now" option. Half way through the movie I accidentally pressed the menu button. When I looked for the rented movie on my apple tv I could not find it. Not even above the movie pannel where "purchased" and "top movies" comes up on the main menu. the apple tv suggests to go to settings>downloads but I don't have that option. I did go to settings> itunes store> check rentals but that didnt work either. It took too long to even check. Thank you because this SOLUTION worked great.
SOLUTION: How to reset apple tv 3 3rd generation to view rented movies:on the apple tv remote: press and hold "menu" to go to the main menu. Select SETTINGS> GENERAL >RESET >RESET ALL SETTINGS. After the apple tv resets, input all your information again and your rented movies should be visible when you cruise above the "movies" section. THANK YOU!!
Apple needs to solve this issue because honestly it took me 3 hours and a half to watch a movie that only lasted 2 BECAUSE I wast trying to solve the issue, reseting and all. blahh. -

Whenever I try to rent a movie, Apple TV buffers and does not come back. I am able to see other programs, but not able to rent movies. And the movie charge still goes on my bill.
Apple TV uses iTunes. The reason you can't rent through your ATV is because you can't rent movies through iTunes Canada. Sadly, as this is a user-to-user forum, no one here would know when or if rentals will come to Canada.

Ok I rented a movie off of iTunes and it worked but then I got an update so I did it not it still says I have the movie but I can't fined it .. It tells me to go to my downloads ?
You can do it by manually managing music and videos. See:

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar.
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions -
My apple TV is connected to a DTV with an HDMI cable and to my Yamaha receiver via optic cable. We rented a movie on Apple TV and.found that the movie played, but we only got audio for music tracks. Voice tracks were silent using both TV and receiver. This only occurred on the rented video and on recorded shows on my cable DVR. previews and other content on Apple TV are fine. Any ideas??
Previews and trailers do not contain 5.1 audio.
If you have recently moved your setup, you may have inadvertently changed some of the settings on your receiver. It certainly sounds as though it is unable to play the 5.1 audio from the Apple TV. -

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.

If I have alreay imported a 16:9 HDV film from a sony HDR-FX1 into FCP5 is there any easy way to crop the film to a 4:3 size? I do not have access to the camera or else I would just re-import downcoverting in the process.
