Rented Assets needs to be Tracked in Assets Module
We are not using oracle property manager. but we want to track rented assets in Oracle Assets. We don't want to capitalize and depreciate these assets. Is there any way to achieve this in assets?

Thanks for the answer but we don't want to capitalize and don't even want to depreciate them. We just want them to be available in our asset books. They're not CIP assets. Treating them as those may be one way to do it. But here is another scenario which we are not clear about:
In assets, while defining asset categories, we have a check box 'Capitalize'. If I click on this then the same gets defaulted to all thye assets belonging to this category. Will such assets be then considered as non-capitalized assets. Will they be directy expensed out?
Our basic concern is just to track the assets. And because they are rented (and not owned), we don't want to capitalize or depreciate them.

Solution
The Navigation Path 는 아래와 같습니다.
Payables>Invoices>Entry>Invoices
Press Distributions button
Track as Asset을 check하는 것은 아래 의미를 가지고 있씁니다.
Checkbox Track As Asset is marked means that Oracle Payables will transfer
this distributions to Oracle Assets during Create Mass Additions execution.
Assets can be created in Oracle Assets from imported distributions
afterwards.
Default로 Asset account일경우 track as asset이 check됩니다.
이럴경우 check box는 변경이 불가능합니다.
The checkbox Track As Asset is unmarked by default when invoice distributions
have an expense account. This checkbox can be adjusted for unposted invoice
distributions only.

Hello All
Fixed Asset Users Guide stated that one of the conditions for asset invoice line distributions to be imported is that "The Track As Asset check box is checked. (It is automatically checked if the account is an Asset account)"
The problem is not all our assets are fixed assets (e.g. Cash). I wanted only fixed assets to be transferred to FA Module. Since all "asset account" are automatically checked, all assets entries in AP are being transferred to FA Module, when it should not(e.g. cash).
What should I do to prevent the automatic "check for track as asset" for some of my assets?

Track of asset: auto checked in invoice distribution line after post
the checkbox of track of asset is unchecked in Invoice distribution line but after invoice is posted, the value becomes checked. please advice.

Tracking of Assets taken on Lease
Hi,
can you please suggest better way of tracking the assets which were taken on Lease. For some of them depreciation needs to be calculated, & for some are not required.

in such a case you will have to add a new depreciation area to your chart of Depn with the indicator posting to G/L as " 0 " as ' 0 " means no posting shoudl be made to G/l account and means its statistical
Next you will have to Add this depn area in the asset class under the Transaction " Detemine Depn areas in asset Class "
Finally you have to Create an asset master and assign your requried Depn key to the Statistical Depn area .
NOTE : you have to deactivate the Depn area 01 in the config which i mentioned to you about or simply assing the Depn Key 0000 in the filed DKEY in the asset Master to the Depn Area 01.

Asset purchased date =16.11.2006
Depreciation start date =01.01.2007
Asset capitalized date =01.01.2007
Asset value =46375
Depreciation as last fiscal year =4573.97
Net book value 46375-4573.93 = 41801.03 as per last fiscal year
In 2007 fiscal year two (April, May) depreciation runs over.
April and May period Depreciation amount is 1,370.53 and 1, 416.21
Now net book value = 43,588.26
I want reverse with net book value (43588.26) or capitalization (46375)
value,what ever is possible noproblem

Was the wrong invoice posted from MM or FI? Why you do not reverse the posting in the original module (MM or FI) with the correspondent transaction.
Do you want to leave a erroneous open item duplicated in the vendor?
Yes, if you post a credit memo the APC account of the asset will be posted with
an opposite sign. However, if you do this with AA transaction ABSO the offsetting
account will be the one you insert manually in the transaction and not the vendor.
You can simulate the posting before actually save it to check the accounts used.

Script to detach overlay assets needed
My turn to ask for a little help here.
I've got a bunch of files that were packaged by my client referring to external overlay assets (image sequences, web overlays). I need a script for CS6 that will find them and trash the link to the assets.

Asset history report for bunch of assets
Hi,
I have created an asset through the following steps
Internal Order KO01
Budgeting T Code KO22
Release of Internal Order KO02
Creation of AUC AS01
Creation of PO ME21N
Now when I see the report AW01N for this asset, everything is available on the asset history sheet. Likewise I need such a report where I can pull out for bunch of assets with the above history informtion like IO No, PO No etc against those assets.
I have some 500 assets for which IO no and PO no I need against each asset.
Please tell me the standard asset report for this.

I think you have to use for this an internal order report (line item report?. On the internal orders all information is avaiable. I think this is the reason that you use internal orders!
On the internal order you collect all the posting and the AUC is a cost collector for short term and when you settle it to the Final asset this is the endpoint.
I don't have seen that the information from KO22, KO02, ME21N are direct available in AW01N

Account assignment for group asset is different from that in asset
Dear experts,
I have creted one main asset . and i have created group asset. and my main asset class and group asset class are both are different.If i continue that error assets are shoud be craeted .but the depreciation key and usefull life and ordinary depreciation will going and it's showing grey.
My question at the time of assighning the group asset for the particular assets the below error is comming.
Account assignment for group asset is different from that in asset
Message no. AA810
Diagnosis
The account allocation 14000 of the group asset 140000001 0 is different from account allocation 1000 of the asset.
System Response
This error needs to be corrected for balance sheet valuation (usually determined in depreciation area 01). For all other depreciation areas, this is only a warning you should check.
Procedure
Check your entry. When an individual asset has a different account assignment than the group asset, it is not possible to reconcile the individual asset to the group asset in reporting by means of accounts.

1) for example i have buliding asset class and i have one group asset class.under the building asset account determination i have assighned the gl a/c for both b/s and book deprecitaion
In groups asset class also i have done same things. i have craeted asset under building asset class and created one asset under group assets.
then assighned the group asset to main assets. the error is comming like this Account assignment for group asset is different from that in asset
I have serched in sdn forum and service .sap.com . they are saying you can use same gl a/c for both asset class.for depreciation .i have tried this scenario. still i am getting the same error and same problem.
The most important thing is we are working on ECC 6 versions
sap note 76186.

Group Asset indicator for tax dep. in asset master
Problem in group asset for tax dep
While creating asset master data, indicator for Group Asset is in non - changeable mode for tax depreciation under area 15. When we assign
group asset under Additional Specifications in the box Group Asset,
system is giving message - Group asset does not manage area 15. Message
no. AA809
We need this for calculating Group Depreciation.
All configure settings have been carried out. Detail list is as follows
1.created account determination, screen laylot rules, number range
intervals & asset class for Group Asset.
2.Specify Depreciation Area for Group Assets.
3.Specify Asset Classes for Group Asset (OAAX)
How to go ahead on this?

Change of Cost Center in Asset Master for Investment measure (AuC) Assets.

We have an asset class 4001 which has been maintained as an investment measure for AuC. I want to change cost center for all the assets that are maintained in the asset class 4001. The system is showing cost center field in display mode in change transaction of the asset AS02 for all the assets in the asset class. I want to replace the old cost center with new cost center in the asset master record. How can I make the cost center field changeable ?
Can anyone help me ?

We can change the cost center for AUC with Investment Measure. To do this you need to identify the relevant WBS element assigned to your asset. You can find the WBSE in Origin tab of your asset master record.
Then go to the change WBS element Transaction CJ12 and change the cost center. Once you change the cost center of the WBSE, the change would automatically get reflected in the correspondind asset master record.
This would solve your issue.

Depreciation area set in Asset Class does not appear in asset master data
Depreciation area does not appear in the asset master data however it is set in the Asset class. If other asset is created in the same Asset class that depreciation area is automatically set in the asset master (it proofs that it is not a problem with Asset class).
I tried to set that deprecition area directly in the asset master data but all the fields are blocked for changing (is it possible to change that?).
What should I do as I need to post on that area ?

Asset Transfer Report with matching new asset number
Hi,
During the past week, our company transferred over 2000 assets from several companies to one company. As a result of the transfer, the tax depreciation keys and tax depreciation life weren't carried over to the new assets. I am wondering if anyone here know how can I generate a asset transfer report with one column listing all transferred out assets and another column listing matching transferred in assets? I used ZFI_INTERCOASTR- Intercompany Asset Transfer, it gave me a transfer report with all the transfer in and transfer out in one column.

you can create yourself an ABAP Query on logical database ADA. In node ANEK you have per each (transfer) transaction the information from which asset the transfer was done. With the ABAP Query you can configure your output list completely flexible.

Asset Not Posting In the GL @ Asset Retirement
Hello All,
Our client is facing a problem which is as below.
We have done retirement of an asset the steps done are follows.
1. ABAON - Sale with revenue with out customer.
The GL are updated with respect to depreciation area 01 , book dpreciation.
2.ASKB , periodic processing for the updation of depriciation area 02 - tax dpreciation.
Only the clearing account is getting updated.
The loss on sale of asset & revenue from the sale of asset GL are not updated in this case.
I have checked the configuration in AO90 and GL are perfectly assigned correctly for both the depreciation areas 01 & 02
Can any one help me in finding why its not getting posted.
Is there any steps missing in the process.
Also note depreciation posting for 01 is real time and 02 its manual yearly one. But there is some depreciation posted in earlier year so there is actual loss on sale of asset
