Rented movie downloaded. Don't play.

So I recently downloaded ******* 3 to my itouch via wifi. It downloads just fine. I have yet to watch it. Yet I just went to try and view the movie and I noticed it does not have the days remaining or any hours remaining. Thought that was weird. So I try and watch it but it only shows a black screen and the mo ir controls. I know no one has tried to watch it. And it finished downloading just 4 hours ago. So I have no idea what happened. I tried restarting and resetting. No luck. And I have not updated the software on my itouch since I was last home 2 weeks ago. I noticed there was an update available but Im waiting till I watch all of my rented videos before I do update. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks for reading even if you have no input that would be beneficial.

I'm seeing something similar...The iTouch is running iOS 4.2.1.
My son rented a movie in which it downloaded fine. When the itouch is connected to iTunes I go under the Movie tab. It gives the option of selecting the rented movie and "moving" it to "Son's iPod", which I do. So it is no longer listed under "Rented Movies" but is listed now under "Son's iPod". Once I hit Apply to resync the resync process starts and during the sync process the movie automatically gets shifted back over to the "Rented" section and does not show up on the iTough. There is 5GB of free space left on the iTouch and the movie is only 3.5GB so it's not a memory size issue.
I did the "resetting" thing as well as the other blogger suggested and it did not help.

    I downloaded a new version of iTunes, then rented a movie to watch on my laptop. Now I cant find the rented movie or how to play it. Please Help.

    It should be in the Movies part of your library - if you select Movies, then is there a Rentals tab on it with that film in it ?

    Depending upon what country that you are in (music and films can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete music tracks and the film from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
    If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music and/or films or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that album and/or film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
    Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • Rented movies won't start playing

    I haven't been able to properly download movies from itunes thru my ATV since this afternoon. A rented movie usually starts at playing after 2 to five minutes of renting. I have rented Glenrgarry Glenross this afternoon it is almost 9 in the evening and I haven't been able to start watching. Anyone experiencing the same problem?

    There may be issues or unusual demand with the service, if the situation persists you may want to try restarting your equipment (tv/router/itunes)

  • Is there any reason photos in an album page display small on the iPad, but normally on an iMac? And videos on a movies page don't play on the iPad, but are OK on the iMac?

    Is there any reason photos in an album page created in iweb display small on the iPad, but normally on an iMac? And videos on a movies page don't play on the iPad, but are OK on the iMac?

    there are three displays in photos page:
    1) thumbnails grid - smallest
    2) deatial view and detail view slideshow - large
    3a) pop-up slideshow - vary - this is slideshow.html
    3b) or iphone/ipad slideshow phoneshow.html - iphone/ipad can't do pop-up
    it's difficult to know which you refer to.
    if you refer to pop-up slideshow then you should not look into iwebmediagrid.js as wyodor suggested.
    instead look in phoneshow.html and change width and heigth of element id slideshow:
    #slideshow {
    position: relative;
    width: 320px; /* this is default width */
    height: 360px; /* this is default height */
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto;
    overflow: hidden;

  • When I rent movies they will not play.

    Everything else plays fine, but rented movies always have an error message indicating a downloading error and asking me to try later.  What should I do?

    Since New Years Eve, I have spent  nearly 15 hours with senior support advisors on this issue. Trust me, I've tried everything. Once it downloads on Apple TV all I get is AUDIO. The trailer will play fine, all the other apps on Apple TV play fine. The only thing I'm having trouble with is movies RENTED FROM ITUNES ON APPLE TV and MOVIES RENTED ON ANY IOS device. Not just mine, I've tried using my Apple ID on other people IOS devices but the movies download but won't start. I have one purchased movie that will play fine on any platform, but not rented movies.
    There are no error messages, all setting have need restored, reset, and reset again by THREE senior advosors. I don't know how to explain it any cleatee than
    this.. sorry to be short, but I don't see any Apple tech people making any type of effort to remedy the problem.

  • Rented movie on PC iTunes, play on Apple TV

    I rented and downloaded a movie (Argo) from iTunes on my Win 7 pc.
    Later that day we watched the movie using Apple TV and Home Sharing.
    So I went to Computers on Apple TV. Selected my PC, found the movie and started it.
    I'm pretty sure we have done this in the past.
    The movie would not start. I just got the spinning icon at the start of the status bar.
    I restarted the Apple TV. Tried again. Same thing.
    Restarted again. This time as soon as it started to play I hit Pause.
    I let it sit there for a minute or so thinking it would buffer some things up in the Apple TV.
    Then started the play. It worked fine from there on.
    I have an Airport Express. Both devices are on that wireless network.
    We have two iPads, an iPhone, and printer on that same wireless network.
    But they were all idle at this time. All devices show Excellent connection in the Airport Utility.
    Any ideas what was going on here? I thought that since the movie was downloaded on my pc
    that the Apple TV would just get the movie from my pc over the wireless connection.
    Which should be pretty fast. Faster than downloading it over the web.
    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
    You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
    Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
    There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • How to overcome error of rented movies downloaded to iTunes, not being copied to the iPad?

    I have downloaded two rented movies from the iTunes Store to iTunes 10, plugged in my iPad and continuly receive an error msg that "The Movie(s)" was not copied to the iPad because it (they) cannot be played on this iPad.  I've found this exact error on-line and Apple suggests that iTunes version 10 corrects this issue ... "Obviously it doesn't!!!"  I have researched this issue for three days now and every indication is that there should not be any problems, that all my software, downloads, iPad updates are up-to-date.  Any suggestions would be greatful.

    Based on the numerous posts regarding iTunes and the App Store, there appears to be an issue at Apple's end. Although Apple has not provided any indication on the cloud status page.
    Do not change your settings.
    Edit

  • Rented movie download stuck

    I have rented two movies in iTunes with my iPhone an successfully downloaded one. The second movie downloaded 500mb and stopped. Now when I try to restart the download I get and error saying tap to retry. I have tapped for a day and am all tapped out. I saw one suggestion to delete the download and search for available downloads. That would probably work if I were stuck downloading to a pc but the download is stuck on my phone and I can't figure out how to delete it. Any help would be great.

    Mmmm...then you're gonna have to contact iTunes support & have them clear your download queue. Explain the entire situation & they should let you re-download on your computer at no additional cost. Itunes support are the only one's that can clear your queue if you were unable to do so by checking for available downloads.

  • How do I get support for a rented movie that wouldn't play?

    I rented the Godfather II to watch with my wife and then it said it would take 20 hours to download to start playing!  Mind you the internet is find enough to stream Netflix without ever a problem.  It said if I switched to lower resolution in the settings it would be faster, but it actually made it take longer (26 hours).
    When it finally finished we tried to watch it and then it started but stopped and said it needed to download again.  We waited, then it disappeared (I'm assuming because 24 hours had passed since it first tried to start playing).  I've been trying to get a refund from Apple but can't get through to anyone.
    Very frustrated - I love Apple products (iPhones, Macs, iPads & Apple TV) but customer support is awful.  They really need to take a lesson from Amazon

    Netflix uses adaptive streaming to adjust quality based on connection. iTunes content is fixed and will start once enough has buffered in order to play without interruption.
    What is your connection speed (speedtest.net) need 6mbps for 720p and 8mbps for 1080p. Did you try switching to SD?
    Check istumbler or netstumbler to see about interference
    Make sure you're on the ISPs DNS (settings - network - configure DNS - should be set to automatic)

  • Where are my rented movies downloaded to?

    I cannot find where to view my already downloaded rented movies...hmmm

    Again this is the iPad forum, not the MacBook Pro or Itunes forum.
    In any case, Downloaded movies from the iTunes Store should be inside iTunes in the Movies section of your Library.
    The actual file should be stored in the Movies folder inside the iTunes folder. Usually it is located in  /Users/username/Music/iTunes/  in OSx unless you changed that location

  • .DV and .MOV files don't play smoothly in the Final Cut Express viewer

    Hi,
    I bought Final Cut Express 4.0 yesterday, so I have no experience with it. I only used iMovies HD 6.0.3 a little before.
    Problem:
    When I import my .MOV and .DV files into FCE 4.0, then try to watch them in the viewer they don't play smoothly. The sound is fine, but the video is not smooth, it plays in stops and starts.
    Just to see, I tried importing a .FLV file and it plays just fine in the viewer, both audio and video runs smoothly with no 'stop starting'
    I experimented with importing different file sizes of .DV and .MOV, from 3GB to a few MB even and even very small clips of a few KB. But regardless of the size I always have this problem of them not running smoothly in the viewer.
    One of the .MOV files I tried to import was a reference file, and I later read in the manual that FCE may only recognise the original file. But I have the same problem even with the Original file and other self contained files that have been copied from the original. So it doesnt seem to just a problem with reference files.
    Any idea what the problem might be?
    Is it something to do with how I have FCE set up?
    Or is it that the .MOV and .DV files are not being properly imported and is this why they are not running smoothly in the viewer?
    I'm using a MacBook with 10.4.11 operating system, which the guys at my local Apple store said would be fine for using FCE 4.0.
    Hope someone can help,
    Ian.

    Look at item properties for the .mov and .dv files. What exactly does it say they are? What drive are they playing back from? Make sure the contents of the viewer are set to fit to window in the View popup at the top of the viewer.
