Rented movie from PC towards Apple TV.

I rented Hitman today from the iTunes Store on my computer to be able to watch it on my Apple TV and my iPod touch. I'm getting this error message: "Hitman" was not copied to the Apple TV "Apple TV" because the Apple TV could not contact the iTunes Store to authorize. Please check your Internet connection, or try again later. I deauthorized my computer, re authorized it. Signed-out on my Apple TV then signed back in. Changed from wireless to ethernet. Nothing. I don't know what to do anymore. Isn't this supposed to work right of the batt? Wasn't the purpose of renting movies right off the computer was to transfer it on other Apple devises!? HELP!

I had the same problem last night when I purchased "Black Hawk Down". I noticed that the newly downloaded movie is identified as having "Fairplay Version: 3", while all remaining movies (purchased from iTunes), utilize "Fairplay Version: 2". (Right Click the movie in iTunes, Choose Get Info, Select the Summary Tab.)
Is your movie also showing Fairplay Version 3?
Apparently this is a newer version of the Digital Rights Management software/algorithm (sp?) and the Apple TV is not handling it properly.
Does anyone know if there is an update for Apple TV for this? Any help would be appreciated..

  • HT1657 How do I transfer rented movies from iPad to Apple TV

Although my Apple TV sees all my iTunes so previously purchased and I am able to download movies and other product from ITunes, the Apple TV is requesting. Three or four digit security code ending in 1359
I do not have any such code
    Please help
What do I need to do to seamlessly rent or buy movies on Apple TV????
    Regards,
    Fernando Calero

The method is exactly the same as in previous versions of iTunes:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1390
The only difference now is that by default the iPad will appear as a button at the upper-right of iTunes:
Click that all all should then work as per the directions. You can also go to the View menu and select "Show Sidebar" and iTunes 11 will then look substantially like earlier versions.
    Regards.

  • How To Transfer iTunes Rented Movies from Mac to Apple TV

I have an Apple TV (ATV) 3rd generation. I rented a movie through iTunes on my mac and downloaded the movie onto my mac. I see in the Apple TV manuel at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1657 that ATV 1st generation had the ability to move movies from iTunes on mac to be stored on the ATV.
Is this possible on ATV 3rd generation?
Is the only solution to airplay from my mac to the ATV?
If airplay is the only answer then is there any picture loss with this method?
    Thanks

  • Rented movies from iTunes to Apple TV

How do I get a movie that I rented on iTunes from my computer to the Apple TV?

I'm not sure this will work or not as I only did it one time. If you have iTunes loaded, pull down the "File" menu and toward the end, a sync option is available. FYI, you can't transfer movies rented from the ATV back to your computer.

  • Can't move rented movie from itunes to Apple TV (1st gen)

I have rented a movie through iTunes but cannot transfer this to my Apple TV (1st gen). I have tried dragging and dropping the movie into the Apple TV device section on iTunes but it won't allow me to do this. I have tried syncing and this has made no difference. No rental section appears on the Apple TV either. Can anyone suggest what else I should try? I have an Australian iTunes account.

Steve: I know this does not solve your current problem, as it is a strange one, but wht not report the problem download to the itunes store, get a credit then rent it again on your ATV. It might be a slower dl but at least you do not have to wait for a sync as the movie will be erased after you watch it anyway.
    Good luck

  • When i try to rent movies from itunes the apple tv tells me to go to the itunes store for credit card authentication

I've logged into the itunes store and applied a different credit card.  I've updated the software on my Apple TV and even turned it off and back on by unplugging it.  Twice, I have either not rented or rented from a different location.  How can I fix this and how can I test it without renting something that I don't need right now?

If you look back at my post I said make sure the security code is entered. If you have then great, but that is the first thing that causes issue in regards to verification.

  • Can I watch a rented movie from Itunes (iMac) on my Apple TV 3 without airplay and home sharing?

I recently download a rented movie from itunes store in my iMac. My question is, if I can watch my rented movie in my apple tv without Airplay or Home sharing? The reason is because I don't want to turn on my iMac every time that I want to watch a movie.
    Thanks!

If you rented the movie from Apple TV, then you can't watch it on the iPad.  The screenshot below is from Here

  • Can I set up a password for when renting movies from my Apple TV without having to sign out?

Can I set up a password when renting movies from my Apple TV without having to sign out?

Is there an issue just signing out?  It's a chore entering itunes store password sometimes I agree but there's no way to set a local password on AppleTV - though it's a good idea as you could have a simpler one than for itunes store.
Ordinarily I enter my password for rentals though AppleTV ususally asks if I want it to remember it automatically.  If you sign out and sign back in you should get the option.

  • Transfer Rented Movies from Apple TV V2 to Computer?!?!

I rented some movies on my Apple TV. Can I transfer them to my Mac that the Apple TV is synced with? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this. I know that I can transfer rented movies from the Mac to the Apple TV, but the other way???
    Please someone let me know.
    -Christian

If you think you might need to watch your movie on anything other then Apple TV, rent it form iTunes on your computer. Once it is on your computer you can move it to an iPod, iPhone, and even Apple TV 2.0.
Under this system the only thing you can't do is have an HD rented movie on your computer. iPods and iPhones can't play that anyway. Yes, I think media giants sleep safer when HD movies are not on peoples "corruptible" computers and safe and sound on an "appliance".
The only way to make this any easier would be to allow SD rentals to transfer back to a computer but not HD. I think that would just add another layer of confusion.

  • HT1498 Hi, Is it possible to change the language when renting movies from apple TV?

Hi, Is it possible to change the language when renting movies from apple TV?

It depends on how the java code is gnerated. If for example months are given with fixed array .... then it will only be english
But then agin you have the source code (.java files) open all java files in the oracle.forms froject and alter to your language then recompile and reacreate the jar (easily done with Jdeveloper)

  • Can i transfer my rented movie from computer to my apple tv

just wondering can i do that..... ty

Yeah, so it's still broken for me, and moreover, the problem has passed from being irksome to a shrieking waste of my time. Here's what I've done:
    0. Rented a movie directly from the Apple TV -- successfully
    Then:
    1. upgraded iTunes to 7.6.1
    2. nuked settings for iTunes (e.g. wiped slate, restarted, re-entered all info)
    3. nuked settings on Apple TV, re-entered all info
    4. re-established connection between iTunes 7.6.1 and Apple TV
    5. Re-tried moving the movie from iTunes to Apple TV
    6. FAIL! FAIL! FAIL! FAIL! FAIL!
I then emailed iTunes support, which was quite gracious in their reply: "We're sorry, but you have a technical problem, and here's a number for you to call. Be aware that calling Apple for tech support may cost you money."
It was at that point that I decided to give up, having little appetite for being blackmailed and insulted repeatedly. I've got a movie on my MacBook that I have little desire for watching on a 13.3" screen, and 27 days to hope for a miracle because there is zero to no instrumentation or other information I can use to debug this maddeningly stupid problem.
Please pass this information to the Apple TV developer team before deleting it (because this is an Apple forum, yanno, and this post certainly isn't singing any praises). I've got no energy to file a bug on Radar, and I'm out $2.99 and several hours of mindless troubleshooting. It's the "several hours" that's got me upset the most of all.
No thanks, Apple, you great big black void of nonresponse.

  • We used to be able to watch rented movies from Apple TV right away.  Now it takes hours.  Is there a setting to change?

We used to be able to watch rented movies from Apple TV right away.  Now it takes hours.  Is there a setting to change?  They used to start playing after a few minutes of starting the download but not now.  What's up?

Pat, I've been experiencing this issue intermittently for weeks.  It seems to occur with HD content --including HD trailers --exclusively.  Tonight has been no exception.
I have done considerable troubleshooting to try and isolate the cause.  My results suggest that Apple's servers are to blame but I've not seen many others reporting this issue in these forums lately.
I live only 170 miles from Apple's North Carolina server farm.  I assume my iTunes rentals are being fed from there.  My broadband connection is a fast one (30Mb down) and consistently tests near that speed when this issue occurs.
I have both a first and second generation AppleTV.  When this issue occurs, I will change devices and rent the same movie to see if th device itself is to blame.  The issue affects both.  I have tried using an ethernet connection instead of my Airport Extreme's 5Ghz wireless connection but that does not remedy the issue.
So... my broadband connection is more than capable, my router is performing optimally (I recently had my local Apple Store test it as well), and neither of my AppleTV's is immune to the issue, so...  it must be on the delivery end.
Unfortunately, Apple does not post the status of their iTunes Store's servers like they did with their MobileMe servers.  They should.  In fact, the AppleTV should display a status message when Apple's iTunes servers are experiencing technical difficulties or heavy network traffic.
I was an early adopter of AppleTV.  It has not been problematic until now.  This is trying my patience.  My advice is that you request a refund everytime this happens.  I do.
I am taking this matter to the VP of iTunes services.  If Apple's servers are choking, or if their streams are being throttled by ISP's, or internet TV is too ambitious for this country's internet infrastructure, I deserve to know.

  • How do you play a rented movie from my iPhone 4S to the TV through airplay and Apple TV?

I attempted to rent a movie on my iPhone 4S and play it through airplay to my Apple TV. I could not at any time view any video from that rental but could here the soundtrack. Is there some setting/adjustment that I failed to complete?

To answer quickly, you cannot move a rented movie from your iPhone to your computer (or anywhere else). You'll have to watch it on the phone.
