Rented movie on iPhone, must watch on iPhone?

I rented a movie on my iPhone 4, and I don't see a way to sync it to itunes. Do I have to watch it on my phone?

Yes, you can only watch it on your iPhone.
If you had rented it on your computer you would have had the option to move it around to other devices during the rental period.

  • Trying to watch rented movie on iphone

I am trying to watch a rented movie on my iphone 4...but I keep having to hit the play button every few seconds.  I rented it about a week ago to watch on a flight and couldn't watch it at all.  How do I make it play continuously?

Was the video rental HD or Standard definition? Did you pay $3.99 or $2.99 of it?

  • Is internet connection needed to watch iTunes rented movies on iPhone/iPad?

I am looking into renting some movies from iTunes to watch on a plane on my iPad. I know I need and internet connection to download the rental and it is then store in iTunes but do i need internet connection to start watching the movie? I read somewhere that to begin the 24/48 hour viewing period iTunes needs to connect to the internet to acknowledge that the time has started. Is this the case or is it possible to just start watching the downloaded rentals through iTunes while on a plane with no access to the internet?

I suspect the answer is no as rented movies can be watched on normal iPods with no connectivity. You'll need an active connection during the transfer of the rented movie from iTunes to the device. At the end of the transfer the device will hold the only copy and it can then enforce the playback time limit without needing to "phone home".

  • How to get rented movie from iphone to computer?

    hello,
thanks for taking the time to look at my post. I'm trying to figure out how to get a rented movie from my phone to my computer. when I plug my phone in to sync...and go to rented movies...the movie is listed there, but is grayed out.
    any help would be appreciated.
    thanks,
    steve

Sorry, but Johnathan's answer is not correct. You can easily move your rented movie from your iPhone back to your Mac.
    1) Connect your iPhone to your Mac and open iTunes.
    2) Click on the the icon for the iPhone.
    3) Click on the tab marked Video.
You will see a list of rented movies on your Mac and another list of rented movies on your iPhone. Each movie will have an arrow marked "Move" next to it pointing to the other device.
    4) Click on the arrow marked "Move" to transfer the rented movie from your iPhone back to your Mac.
    5) Click the "Apply" button at the bottom right hand of your screen on iTunes. Your iPhone will then sync and the rented movie will move to your Mac.
You must be connected to the internet to make this work, as iTunes will connect to the iTunes Store to validate the transfer.

  • Can't sync rented movie to iPhone

I have a rented movie that is not yet expired and has not been started. I want to move it to my iPhone. The sync starts and after the entire file has been transferred (enough free space on iPhone) an error message pops up saying I cannot sync the movie because a connection to the iTunes store cannot be established. Internet connection is there, of course, and iTunes store works fine. I tried different movies but all having the same problem. Any ideas?

Can't offer any help other than to say I have the same exact problem and have read on this forum where others do as well.
The only solution seems to be to call customer support and get a credit.

  • Lost rented movie from iphone....

well, as you know, date & time changes randomly is known bug. I didn't know it caused to rented movie.
anyway, I just transferred rented movie (spider man 3) last night after watching 15 chapters. it said that I had 19 hours to expire at that time. this morning, I connected with itunes for podcast. then disconnected, suddenly time & date changed. I changed to correct time & date manually. went to video section, rented movie was totally disappeared!!! now I can't get it from nowhere.
of course, I sent feedback to apple. even I talked with guys in apple store. they have nothing to help me.
if the sudden time & date change causes rented movie time expiration, it should be really really big problem. Apple must fix this thing.
    what is your opinions?

Then you'll need to contact support for assistance my friend.

  • Moving iTunes rented movie to iPhone

I want to move a rented movie from my computer to my iPhone without a complete sync, because the rented movie is on my home computer and I sync to another computer with all the music, etc. Can I just move the movie only without wiping out what is already on the iPhone?

    Er, actually you can.
Right-click on the item in iTunes, select "Show in Explorer" (Windows) or "Show in Finder" (Mac OS). Then copy that file onto a disc, memory stick, etc.
You will need the other machine to be verified to use the account which you used to purchase the rental, but that's fine since you can have up to 5 machines.
I do this frequently - you may note I'm from the UK but I have a US iTunes account too (ebay dollar gift card auctions I love you!).
    Hope that helps.

  • I used to be able to rent movies on iTunes and watch them offline while I'm traveling.  Now I get an error that states I need to be online to watch my rental.  Is there a fix?

I travel for work so I've enjoyed renting movies on iTunes and then watch them on my laptop or iPad while I'm in the air.  Lately (last month or two), I've not been able to watch them offline and get an error that indicates they cannot be lauched unless I'm online.  I notice that there seem to be many people who also experience this issue.  Has a policy changed?  All of my Apple products and iTunes library are on the latest versions.

You'll have to reinstall iPhoto in order to get the themes linked back to the application. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally.

  • Rented movie on iPhone, lapsed but still took up space....?

    Hello,
I had rented a movie and transfered it to my iPhone to hook up to my TV to watch.
Well everything worked great and it ended and expired. Well it still occupied my iPhone but didn't show up.
When I would "SYNC" it still was holding this space as if the movie was still there.
I finally just did a restore but does anyone else know about this / had this problem before? Is there another way besides "restore" to get this space free?
    Sean

Well I am seeing some one else posted this question a few hours ago...sorry.

  • How can I transfer a rented movie from iPhone to iPad both on iOS 5

Ever since I upgraded my iPad to iOS 5.0.1 I have been having a few problems, one is that Safari randomly shuts down, another is that this notice board randomly shuts down and today my biggest problem is that iTunes shuts down as soon as I choose movie, so that I am unable to rent a movie from iTunes.
I thought if I downloaded to my iPhone 4 which is also upgraded to iOS 5 that the cloud would automatically synch to the iPad .
That didn't happen, is there a way of making this happen?

Thanks iCrizzo. I've spent ages exploring iTunes and notice boards and manuals to find out how to do this and sadly I have to agree with you. It just does not seem possible.
