I have rented a movie via apple tv and it gets stuck at 4 minutes left to download. I have not been able to watch and I can't get it to completely download.

You've tried restarting the film ? If it still skips then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • HT1498 Rented movie on apple tv will not play

Rented movie on apple tv.  Does not show up in rental section.  Try to rent again and it says it has been rented and I should go to settings and click download.  There is no download.  Closest thing is to check for rentals  under itunes but it just sits there and spins for over an hour

After about three hours it finally showed up under rentals.  Just a terrible way to rent a movie!!!

  • How can I watch an Apple rented movie via Apple TV?

Continue to have a freezing problem with rented movies from Apple. It *****.

What I ended up doing was to back all the out of the choice sequence and the start the movie from the beginning again. We were able to watch one hour of the movie and then it froze again. After repeated efforts to get it to continue, we gave up and went to bed.
For the recoded, the Internet connection was fine. Netflix worked flawlessly. Only the Apple movie connection was dead.
How do I get my rental money back? I won't be able to finish watching within the required 24 hour period after having started it last night...
I thought this problem would go away after having the FIOS service installed. A 10+ Mgb speed stream should feed a movie in jig time. It's certainly helped with download times on software and Netflix, YouTube, Vimeo streaming. Not Apple, which seems not to know how to buffer.
    Frustrated,

  • Rented Movies On Apple TV Will Not Play.

I rented an HD movie today and it has taken about 3 hours to download 21%.
It will not allow me to watch the movie at all.
I thought there was instant viewing after only a couple of seconds?
Is anyone else having this problem?

I just downloaded the Apple TV last night and decided to rent a HD movie.
After abot 20 mins or so the box still was not ready to play the movie and re-booted mid download. Once it was back up and running I went to the downloads, checked for downloads and found the movie. Since it was now to late to watch a movie I left it and checked in the AM. Movie was "ready to watch" but I was not ready to watch a movie over breakfast. Now when I look for it in my movies it is not there. Am I looking in the correct place?
Called Apple to ask them but they could not tell me because my Apple care support had expired. Happy to charge me $40 to get my $4.00 movie though...Hope this is not the experience others are having.

  • HT1657 I downloaded a rented movie through my iMac and now I want to watch it on my apple tv, why isn't it working?

    Help

    Hello FeedUpUser,
Thank you for the question.  When you purchase a rental, you can view it on one device at a time:
Can I play my rental on more than one device?
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

If you are using a first generation Apple TV, you can transfer your movie to the Apple TV using the steps in the section titled "Transfer a rental from your iTunes library to iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV" in the following articles:

If you have a second or third generation Apple TV, you can use AirPlay to play the rental through your Apple TV.  You can find the steps in the following article:

If you have not been able to view your rental, I recommend reporting the issue:

  • Can't watch a rented movie via Apple TV

On Saturday I rented Anchorman 2 on Apple TV. I chose rent now and watch later. When I got home later in the evening I got an 'unauthorized' error, I backed out and back in, and got 30 or so minutes to watch this movie. The whole point of renting early was to not have to wait on a download.
Then, it never played, just spun and spun. All other Web services are working fine. But now, since I've technically pressed 'play', I'm running out of time on the movie that I guess I  now have to watch tonight or lose my $6.
So 1. I wonder why the movie won't play, and 2. how do I get a refund?
    Thanks for any help.

Jason - Did you figure out how to get the refund? I rented Intersteller last night and it was stuck every few seconds busy loading.. my internet connection was pretty good 50MBPS and restarted AppleTV few times and no luck..

  • Apple TV 2nd gen. When I rented movies from iTunes they won't play - says Loading error please try again later .....but never works

    HI.
I rented two movies on my apple TV 2nd gen. and they won't play.
When we try to play them it tries to load it and then says there is a loading error and try again later, but it never works.
Has anyone else had similar? Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it?

Same issue. Apple has my $4.99 and I have no movie!

  • HT4743 Have purchased a movie on apple TV and would like to have the movie available to my ipod and computer but am unable to see it in my ipod/computer library.  Movies bought from itunes via the computer can be played on both apple TV and the ipod.

Have bought a movie via apple TV and would like to have it available on my computer and ipod but it doesn't appear in the library on either.  If I purchase a move from itunes via the computer it's available on both my ipod and apple TV.  Can anyone help?

Simply download the content on the computer from the purchase history.
    Downloading past purchases from iTunes.

  • "Unable to your purchase" when attempting to rent a movie via Apple TV.  What's the problem?

Never had a problem renting movies via Apple TV until now.  Message states that my purchase can't be completed.  What gives ?

I have simply re-entered my credit card data after making the movie selection. It is a big nuisance to pull out the card and enter the numbers etc. including the 3 digit code. There must be a way to save the data for the Apple TV, but I have only had it for a few days and haven't figured it out.

  • I rented movie on apple tv can I watch it on macbook pro?

My apple TV is connected to a DTV with an HDMI cable and to my Yamaha receiver via optic cable. We rented a movie on Apple TV and.found that the movie played, but we only got audio for music tracks. Voice tracks were silent using both TV and receiver.  This only occurred on the rented video and on recorded shows on my cable DVR. previews and other content on Apple TV are fine. Any ideas??

Previews and trailers do not contain 5.1 audio.
If you have recently moved your setup, you may have inadvertently changed some of the settings on your receiver. It certainly sounds as though it is unable to play the 5.1 audio from the Apple TV.

  • I rented a movie on apple tv and while watching it kept stopping... i never finished the movie cause it wasn't playing

I rented a movie on apple tv and while watching it kept stopping... i never finished the movie cause it wasn't playing.. Now what do I do.  My netflix wouldn't play either.  Will I be able to get my rented movie back?

What is your internet speed? www.speedtest.net
6mbps is required for instant HD rentals, you can turn off HD in the settings if on a slow connection
You can also rent in iTunes and stream to ATV
    Wifi or ethernet?
Are you using your ISP's DNS?

  • TS3623 Apple TV will not play rented movies. Says it is being played on another device, which it is not. Downloaded movie via iTunes on my iMac.

Apple TV will not play rented movies. Says it is being played on another device, which it is not. Downloaded movie via iTunes on my iMac.
I've tried restoring the TV, updating my iTunes - nothing is working. It is definitely not playing on my computer.

Sign in to your iTunes account settings on the computer (click on the AppleID top right if you're actually signed in).
In your purchase list find the purchase and use the 'Report a problem' link to tell the store.
Assume you've not moved the rental to another device where it resides but is not being played.
