Rented movie will not stream

I am using my iPad and I use it to rent a movie the movie begins to download but I can not get it to stream to me. I can get movies I rent. On my desktop to stream. Do I have To wait for the entire movie to download to my iPad before I can view it?

Hi,
but I can not get it to stream to me.
Try restarting your iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
After you restart the iPad try viewing a rented movie. Keep in mind you have 30 days to decide when you want to watch the movie and you have 24 hrs to finish viewing the movie from the time you started. Once the movie period is over the movie will be deleted from your iPad automatically.
Also, check to make sure you do not have any other apps running in the background before viewing a rental. In the iTunes app store on your iPad click the Home button twice. All your apps will appear at the bottom of the iPad window.
And try resetting network settings. Tap Settings in your Home screen then tap General / Reset / Reset Network Settings. Now try viewing a movie.

  • All of a sudden I can no longer watch videos I have rented they will not stream

I have iPad 2 and Have had my apple Tv 2 for about a month. Everything has been working great. Rented movies on the iPad and have watched them thru my Apple TV with no problems. then yesterday I had trouble streaming, the movies will start playing on my TV then come to a stop and stay there. If I try to restart the movie the problem happens again. It does not matter if it's a rented movie or one I purchased. have not changed any settings either on iTunes library, my iPad or my computer. Any thoughts? I had one movie expire on me before I got to see it and another ne is counting down.

Try the basics, if you haven't yet. Reset/reboot, this goes for both devices and also the router.

  • Why won't a Rented movie will not restart?

Rented a movie through iTunes  I stopped it and now it will not restart

Welcome to the Apple community Triley937.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

  • HT1390 Rented movie will not play.

I downloaded a movie I rented but my computer will not play it. I have the options of using VLC (default), MPlayerX and Quick Time 7. As it was downloading, it began to play and then stopped and wouldn't start again. I waited until the movie had totally finished downloading and tried to play it and I had no luck in seeing it begin. I've played more recently released movies before and had no trouble. This one was from the 1990s.  If it won't work, I'd like a refund.

  • TS1424 Rented movie will not load from iTunes

I have been trying, without success, to watch a movie that I rented from iTunes. It will not load, loads after waiting for  ages and then plays 2-3 minutes and stops. I have a 50MB connection so download speed is not a factor.
How do I contyact iTunes and request a refund?
I have now bought the movie!!
    Thanks
    Stebe

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Rented movie will not download

Just rented a movie at iTunes, But it will not download.
The download icon just disappers. I have an ipad with the newest update.
    Please help! Thanks :)

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Rented movie will not leave "Downloads" : Error 5102

I rented a movie several months ago, and it will not leave my iTunes > Store > Downloads.
I can delete the item when it appears, and it will go away. However, the next time I click "Downloads" I'm presented with the message "1 iTunes Download Available". The cycle continues when I delete it.
This wouldn't normally bother me, but since it's a 2GB movie file (presumably somewhere on my system; not sure where, as I've searched with Spotlight). I'd like it off my system if it is, indeed, on my Mac.
    Any suggestions welcome.

I'm having the same problem. I noticed this problem after I manually cleared out my system's cashe because of an unrelated issue. I let the movie download completely but at the end of the download it errors out because of a network connection failure... obviously that really is not the issue. When I try to play the movie I get a message that states "could not play rented movie "''" because it is authorized to play on a different computer or device." Now I have an entire movie that I can not play sitting in my itunes wasting space.

  • Rented movies will not transfer to ipad3

I cannot transfer rented iTunes movie to ipad3.  rented two kovies - one transfers but will not open; other gets warning msage that computer is not authorized, even though I have authorized.  thank you

I had a very similar problem. I had rented movies (more than one) and none would transfer to an iPhone. The movie or movies would appear to completely transfer, then I would get a message saying that the transfer had failed because "the movies had already been transferred to a different device". That wasn't true, and it's kind of ridiculous since once you transfer a rented movie to an iPod or iPhone it disappears from iTunes on the computer, ie it's not available to try to transfer a second time.
HOWEVER, I think I FOUND THE PROBLEM. You say you were connected to the internet and your account was authorised in the iTunes store. BUT, was your COMPUTER authorised? It appears to be possible to authorise to your iTunes Music Store account from a computer than is not currently authorised. That was probably my problem. We'd swapped out a laptop a couple days ago, and had to "deauthorise all" the computers on our account. I had not yet reauthorised my desktop computer, and that's where the rented movies were sitting. As soon as I did authorise that computer the rental transfers proceeded normally.
There's a bug or flaw in iTunes, though, because when the transfer fails iTunes shows that totally bogus :already transferred" error and provides no clue that the computer is not authorised and that that is the actual problem.

  • Itunes rented movies will not play and gives me an unknow error -42110  can anyone help me resolve this issue?

I have successfully used Itunes to rent movies on this computer several times in the past.  This time however after paying for the rental movies and being prompted to play it I recived the following error message.
We could not complete your Itunes store request.  An unknown error occured (-42110)  There was an error in the itunes store. Please try again later.
I have updated the itunes stoftware and attempted multiple times over the past 2 days but to no avail.  Tech support gave me a link to an article with error messages but the one I have was not covered by their article.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me?
    Cheers

Try the "Error 3001," "-42110," or "5103" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • Rented movie will not transfer back to my computer

I've just rented my first iTunes rental movie. It all worked seamlessly transferring the movie to my iPhone and watching it on my TV, but now I want to transfer back to my MacBook. I've still got about 24 hours left before the movie expires.
Trouble is when I try to transfer the movie back to my computer using iTunes, I get a message "! You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. ... Check the permissions on your Music folder and folders in your Music folder, then try copying again."
I've done all of this - absolutely every folder has "Read and Write" access and still I can't transfer.
    Any ideas?

Is your Macbook connected to the internet? You must be connected to the internet to transfer rented movies.

  • Rented movie will not self delete

i rented two movies the last week. both were moved to ipod, both were viewed on ipod, both have expired (24hr view window) while on ipod.
the first one self deleted, the other remains on my ipod. this expired movie is not listed under the rented movies portion when at the itunes level (and device is selected). however, when i click on the ipod under "devices" in itunes, then select the "rented movies" under the list of directories, i see the rented movie, just ghosted.
i cant select or delete it.
i have re-synced several times but i cannot get rid of the movie.
    suggestions?

figured out how to delete movie. but what i havent figured out is why i had to. my only guess is i didnt completely watch the movie in 24 hrs (i quit while credits were rolling). this is the only difference from the first movie that auto-deleted.
    the fix/work around:
set your ipod to "manually manage music and video" I also had "enable disk use" although i dont think it matters. once you've done this you can select movie on ipod while docked and delete.
    good luck
