Rented movie wont load

Why won't the movie I rented on iTunes load? It was playing fine but six minutes in the screen went black and nothing is playing and it won't seem to play if I fast forward it either. Help please, I only have a certain amount of time to rent this movie.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

Rented movies wont play, keep getting error-42110. Plus the movie is downloaded but it keeps redownloading on its own. Itunes up to dat and working on windows 8, anyone had the same or can help?

Try the "Error 3001," "-42110," or "5103" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • TS2934 rented movie not loading

Purchased rented movie on Apple TV from Itunes and after pressing play, only loading symbol shows and movie never plays

You can go to settings->downloads to see the progress of the download. There was another recent posting of very sluggish downloads speeds. There's a slim chance that it might be a symptom of a wide-spread issue with ATV's right now [though looks to be primarily Gen 1 units].  There's an existing topic here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/25524317#25524317 [though I doubt it in this case, but might be a side effect of the problem on Apple's side]
In this case I suggest  you submit the bug via the feedback page https://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html

  • Streaming rented move wont show

Im so frustrated with my apple TV.
I rent a movie on my Macpro thinking I can stream it to my ATV.
I have a nice dinner, go to watch a movie on my ATV thinking it will stream to my
ATV and RENTED MOVIES doesnt even show up on my menu.
    My mac is on.
    My itunes is open.
My RENTED MOVIES is there in iTunes.
My ATV is there displayed on my iTunes.
No RENTED MOVIES are on my menu of my ATV - WHY?

...you cannot drag and drop the rental....
You can to an iPod touch or iPhone. I seem to recall doing it once with my ATV.
In any case, you can't just sync a rental movie that was purchased from iTunes on a computer to an ATV. If dragging and dropping doesn't work, the OP may have to right-click on the movie in iTunes and select the option to transfer it from the popup menu.

  • Rented movies wont transfer to ipod

I have an ipod touch. I have rented movies before and they have always allowed my to select them and transfer onto my ipod. I am currently unable to do that with the two new movies that i rented. They show up in the rented movie section, but there is not box for me to check so that they are moved to my ipod when it is connected. I have more than enough space on my ipod for both. I only have 14 days left before they are gone and I hate the idea that I wasted my money. Please Help!!

Finally, after two hours researching this, I found the problem. Apple says which iPods movie rentals work on, but it doesn't say the ones it doesn't work on. It's some BS marketing rule that says you never highlight what your product can't do. In this case, they have created confusion and frustration and have wasted everyone's time. All they have to say is this:
"If you have an 80 gig iPod, you may think you have an iPod Classic, but you may actually have a 5th Generation iPod (especially if you bought it around September 2007). Yes, both of them have a click wheel and both of them play movies, but the serial numbers are three digits off, so find a jeweler's magnifying glass to read your serial number. If it ends in anything but Y5N, YMU, YMV, and YMX, you have a 5th Gen iPod, not an iPod Classic, and you cannot transfer rented movies to it. You won't get an error message because that's too helpful. Instead, it just won't show up on your Movies list where you tell it which movies to synch. It's up to you to figure out why. We know, we say on our web page 'Rented Movies. Now Showing Everywhere.' We meant 'everywhere but your 5th Gen iPod.' We lied. And, yes, we know your 5th Gen iPod plays movies you buy, but whatever."

  • Itunes rented movie wont play

I rented a movie in itunes. It finished downloading and when a press play a message pops up saying "Do you want to start playing the movie Attack the Block? You will have 24 hours to watch this movie." I click play and then a black screen pops up (the itunes video player) and the timer shows at the bottom for the movie, but it won't start playing. I am connected to the internet (I know you need to be so it could start the 24 hours of renting) but nothing happens. When I exit out and click to play the movie again the same message comes up "you have 24 hours..." I have restarted Itunes, restarted my computer, and I have itunes up to date, oh and my computer is authorized. Any suggestions?

maybe a little late. I had the same problem, went to Window in the tile bar scrolled down to downloads and the hit the reload button next to the movie name... worked a treat.

  • Slow load times on rented movies

Recently we have been experiencing intermittent performance during streaming rented videos on our second generation Apple TV. For the second night in a row we would be watching a rented video when it would suddenly freeze and then say "Ready to play in XX minutes". The amount of minutes then jumps from anywhere between 59 minutes up to as long as 1 hour and 50 minutes. My thought is that it has something to do with Apple's introduction of the 3rd gen AppeTV (1080p) and rentable 1080p movies. I suspect all the bandwidth is going toward these new devices and all of us with older hardware are getting the shaft.
Please let me know if anyone else is experiencing the same issue(s).
    Thanks,
    Jon B.
PS - Wife put on a Netflix show and it worked right away with no problems. Internet is cable into a Time Capsule (802.11n). I'm not a computer novice and never have experienced these long loading issues on streaming rentals before.

    @jfricker,
I did some research about the problem online and discovered that it was OpenDNS causing the problem. If you're using OpenDNS I recommend changing your settings back to your ISP's settings.
If that's not the issue for you check your download speed by getting the free app called Speed Test. According to Apple the minimum speed should be at 6 MBit/sec for 720p.
    Check this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3623
After changing my DNS addressess back to the default Comcast ones I tried playing our rented movie again and it started right up. Kind of bummed that this is the solution because OpenDNS is pretty cool. If you don't know what it is check it out online at OpenDNS.com. Basically it allows you to block unwanted content on a network-wide basis so that you can filter content coming in to any device connected to your network... rather than setting up individual parental controls on a client by client (meaning any device on your network - iPhones, computers, game consoles, etc) basis.
The downside as it turns out is that it messes up AppeTV. :-(

  • Rented movies on ATV2, can't play- An error occurred  loading this content.

When I attempt to play the two movies on ATV (Gen 2) I rented, I receive the error:
An error occurred loading this content. Try again later.
No other messages display, and it is not clear what to do next, or how to fix this issue.
I tried the following to solve:
    - latest updates for ATV (I'm on version 4.2.1(2100))
    - unplugging power, then plugging back in
    - stop "Home Share" on ATV, then turn back on
    - log out of iTunes account on ATV, then log back in
    I've yet to try:
    - reset on the ATV (on the General menu)
    - setting back to factory defaults (on the General menu)
I have not tried the above two, since the ATV is 2 days old and honestly did not think I needed to do this.
I have two Windows computers, one with Vista, one with version 7. Both have iTunes 10.2.1.1 installed. I have iTunes "Home Sharing on" for both computers, including the ATV. I can see my iTunes library on the ATV and play music; I can also play iTunes radio just fine with the ATV. I've been able to access my NetFlix account and stream movies just fine with NetFlix.
I was able to purchse the movies, but not able to play on the ATV; thus, I seem to be able to get to iTunes since I could at least rent movies.
Is there anything major to double check to make sure I've set everything up right? The book that came with ATV looked pretty plug-n-play, but I cannot get this to work (playing videos). I also have an iPhone that I just purchased- I've plugged this into the Vista computer to do sync's and get updates, but don't have it plugged in on a reqular basis.
What am I missing to try and troubleshoot?
    Thanks much!

I bought apple tv a few weeks ago. It worked to start with but was very slow and not really usable as when you picked a movie it would take anything from 20 mins to 6 hours to start. I assumed it would to memory but it doesn't so you have to sit and wait for it to start which renders it completely useless.
Then came a software update about a week ago. Since then it no longer loads rented movies. After I have paid for the movie it says press play. After that it says "unable to load content, try later"
I emailed apple support. They dont know what the problem is so they refunded my money and removed the films from my apple tv.
Apple also asked questions About my iTunes version etc which is completely stupid as this has nothing to do with itunes as apple tv is 100% independant and designed as a stand alone device.
My advise- I will get a refund and use the money to buy apple tv 1 from ebay as it has a hard drive and loads movies in the background rather than using a stream.

  • My rented movie stops at a certain spot in the movie, and wont ever play again. WHY

Whenever i try to play 21 Jump Street as a rented movie it stops at 8:16 and wont play again. Restarting itunes doesnt help.

Your signature in 1st post was 10.8.2.
    You went backwards?
Did you reformat and reinstall when you first purchased it?
If not I HIGHLY recommend you do that before you do anything else.

Thanks for the pointers folks. Yeah, 1.5GB is pretty poor isn't it? There are other suppliers, but you have to get a their phone line installed to access the internet so it's an £85 setup fee plus a day off work for a guy to come round and drill a hole in your wall before you even get to the monthly costs.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm certainly not an Apple basher, but am equally frustrated with both them and the ISP.
Virgin Media spend all kinds of money advertising their broadband as the fastest in the UK, but don't tell you (up front anyway) that you'll be cut off if you actually try and use it.
Apple on the other hand carry on with their 'it just works' mantra, but with Apple TV this only applies if you meet certain criteria (again, not mentioned up front).
I guess it aint a biggie, as i was gifted my Apple TV, and love all the other stuff it does, but from the number of posts on this forum can see that there's a lot of angry customers out there who want explanations as to why they're having similar problems to me.
Will be very interesting to see if Apple release any kind of software update that turns the flash drive from a buffer to permanent storage, to at least ease some of the pain...
