Hi. I have rented 4 movies on the iPad but when I go to play them they say cannot open. I don't have access
To wifi please help.

The problem we have encountered occurs when we travel. Before we leave home we rent movies on our computer and transfer to our iPad or directly to our iPad (have tried both ways) be viewed while we are on the airplane. However, when we try to play them, we get an error message that they cannot be opened. We have reported these occurrences to iTunes and have only received a refund for the movies, which we appreciate, but really need advice on how to prevent the same thing from occurring in the future. They open fine on both devices once we get home.

I haven't watched rentals on an aircraft but I recall someone posting the cause for your problem quite some time ago. It has to do with your iPad reaching an Apple server ONCE possibly to confirm that you have the movie legally but I'm really guessing at the reason. The posted solution was to watch a mere ten seconds of the movie while you're still in the airport and you have Internet access. From then on you'll be OK.
Obviously, I can't swear to this solution but trying it is harmless.

Rented movie in iPad won't play in Apple TV 2

Today I rented Unstoppable in my iPad form the iTunes Store, the idea was to use airplay to send it to my Apple TV 2 and view it on my TV.
Every time I try to use Airplay to stream the movie from my Ipad the Apple TV 2 returns the message that is not authorize to play the content from the iPad.
Anybody have any idea how to fix this?, I am using the Apple HDMI cable and both devices are login to the same Apple ID. I have restore to factoring settings my Apple TV 2 and restarted my iPad several times, I also have log out of my Apple ID and log back in in both devices.
Do not know what else to try any help would be appreciates.

I don't know the legal agreements between Apple and movie studios, but with a rental you don't own the material so I suspect that is the difference. With a purchase you're given some leeway that you don't have with a rental.

Your original post mentioned that purchases worked, not rentals. Have you ever seen a rental stream from your i-device to Apple TV? I wouldn't think so, given Apple's statement above.

You can try taking this up with Apple, and depending on who you communicate with (and your approach) may determine your success to get a refund. Apple does state that you can't stream a movie from your device to ATV, but perhaps not clearly enough (which you might use to your advantage).

If Safari is working otherwise and you can log onto other websites, try clearing Safari and reset your iPad. That might help with the Twitter app as well.
Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Having the same problem. Watched 25 minutes of a rental and it stopped with the message"unable to load video"

My ipad won't open word documents attached to emails that don't have .doc appended, however my iphone does this flawlessly. Is this normal?

Mine won't either. I was wondering if it had something to do with installing the pages app. My attachments with .doc are showing as pages docs.

Try holding down the sleep and home buttons for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple it's rebooting and just let it do its thing.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

My Ipad won't open. I have pictures of my home that was damaged in the May 20 tornado and now I can't access them from my Ipad. Any suggestions how to get it to open?

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If that doesn't help Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

Itune rented movies to IPAD. I have downloaded and moved many movies to ipad for my travels. I just downloaded 2 rented movies today to my imac, and now it will not let me move to my ipad. Itunes claims I have already downloaded to a device. I have used this process many times. Did something change?

I just had the same problem and someone posted the below, which fixed it!
