Reopened Period Closed with MMPV
Hi, experts
Is there a way to completely reverse the period closed with MMPV?
Here is the scenario: the cost estimate is marked in period 7, after that the MMPV is done to open the period 8.
Now, the standard cost estimate can't be released in period 8
I have read the note 487381 regarding the re-opening the closed period for posting, but if ML is active, i don't think even MMPI is useful to reopen the period. Any suggestions?
Thank you very much for your help
BR, Erwin.Hello Erwin,
Yes you can not reset period using transaction MMPI if material ledger is active. In that case you would need to deactivate material ledger ie. cancel production startup and proceed. However, only try this solution if this is a test or development system. You may refer to note 108374 for the same.
However, if you are already in period 8 and you can post to prior period ie. 7 and you do not need to make any postings in period 6 then I would suggest you stick to period 8 until 31st Aug and then close period 8 in september.

Dear All,
I have closed the MM period for the current month by mistake, now I want to reverse / Reopen the closed period.
Plz guide me how to do itHi,
If can flag allow posting in previous period using MMRV, is the best option rather than opening the previous period as it is not adivisible in productive system.
MMPI.If you want to run the period initialization program. Note that when you start the period closing with initialization, inconsistencies can arise.
Follow the instructions in Note 487381 before initialization
Note 487381 describe the possible data inconsistencies that can occur if you perform initialization in a productive system. The inconsistencies cannot be traced back to a system error. Hope this helps you -
How to Reopen the closed period?
Dear Friends
I have to reverse a MIGO document created in the month of December. When I tried to do the same, the system is giving th error message that posting is only possible in the period 11, 2008 and 12, 2008.We consider April as the 1st month of the year.
How can I reopen 09, 2008 and make the reversal ??
Thanks
ChandraYou are trying to reverse the document created in Dec-08. The system message says posting only allowed in 11 and 12-08. Normal business scenario you should not perform reversal of MIGO this way. Follow return PO process to return the receipted goods.
Otherwise, if it is must, open both FI and MM periods. Fi period via OB52, MM period via MMPV/MMRV tcodes. It has option to open previous period. So, you may have to repeat steps to get to period 09-08.
Hope it helps.

Hi All
Sales order was created on 2008 and user is trying to change the sales order on 2010. We are unable to change the sales order and we are getting the below error log details.
Error Log
1. Posting in fiscal year 2010 is not possible; in FM open doc. 52012 in fiscal year 2008.
It is not possible to change document 52012 in fiscal year2010 because the document was updated as open commitment in fiscal year2008 in funds management.
2. It is not possible to change document 52012 in fiscal year 2010 because the document was updated as open commitment in fiscal year 2008 in funds management.
The posting is not carried out.
Carry document 52012 forward to fiscal year 2010 using program: Closing operations: Carry forward of open items(RFFMCCF1).
Note: We have executed the standard report (RFFMCCF1) and found that there is no open item for fiscal year 2008 & 2009.
Please help us to resolve this issue and clarify the below points.
1. is it possible to carry forward the two year before created sales order into current year.
2. how to reopen previous two years period in SD.
3. is it possible to create the billing document in SD.
Regards
K.Gunasekarhi,
hope this is help ful
1. Is it possible to carry forward the two year before created sales order into current year.
This is possible to go two years back ward but let explain you the impact by doing this.
First of all your company code will behave crazily after doing this. Here crazily means posting in different posting periods and it cannot give proper function of company code since then because you will touching most important part of enterprise structure called plant.
There are notes on the same please go thru the SAP NOTES.
This is not possible because itu2019s already two years forward.
2. How to reopen previous two years period in SD.
You are not opening SD periods here you are posting the transaction right so it has to go through company code only for that user MMPV and MMRV
3. Is it possible to create the billing document in SD.
This is possible if the above two is possible.
So please be ware of this.

Effects of reopening closed periods in Asset Accounting.
Hi SAP Gurus,
My client wants to open the closed periods in Asset accounting. I have used T Code OAAQ and changed the last closed period.
I would like to know what are the effects of opening the closed periods.
Will it effect the already posted depriciation and what further steps should I take after the entries are passed.
Even after I opened the period both in FI and AA it still is giving me a message that I cannot post to this year.
Can you kindly suggest.
Thanks in advance,
HariIf you post any entries to the asset , the depreciation will change in asset accounting and will not match with the general ledger unless depreciation posting run is executed.
However, since you have already executed depreciation posting, AFAB selecting repeat run in the last period or special period if your company code have special periods.
Caution: It will change the P&L and Balance sheet balances.
Please check the Post Capitalization Option (ABNAN) for asset values missed in the past for capitalization -
File formats include jpeg, Word and Excel documents, and PDFs. Documents have come from downloads, email attachments, and documents created locally. Performed a full scan today which found no results. Performed a system refresh and no improvement. These
are documents I've opened, edited, saved, sometimes reopened and used, and later, they randomly aren't working.
Currently saving all documents on the MicroSD card to keep the SSD drive as free as possible on the Surface.
Downloading a firmware update as I type this.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
For the issue, please open these files using other computer to see if we can open them normally.
Meanwhile, try saving all documents on your SSD to test it.

Hi All,
Can anyone help me in this regard please?
I am in the starting phase of learning SD. By mistake I accidentally closed all my open periods till 10-2010 with MMPV.Now when i go to post stock with the help of MB1C,there i put posting date as 08.09.2010. , it shows error saying "Posting Period 009 2010 is not open"
If i give posting date in future say 11.11.2010 then the error is " Posting only possible in periods 2010/09 and 2010/08 in company code 999c"
Actually I am not FI guy and my concept of posting periods is not also clear.
So can anyone help me with some detailed instructions as to how to avoid these errors and post correctly when i have closed the periods?Essentially you need to clear want you want to do. You can't assume the system is flexible to allow any dates to be posted into the system. This is a material ledger system requirement for a multitude of reports and balances kept to have some form of control and efficiency. So if you have closed till 10-2010 material ledger(MMPV), assuming the calendar period is used, current period is October 2010. Therefore any postings should have happened in October 2010. At any point in time if you require that backdated postings be done example you are performing month end process for September but straddles over to early Oct 2010 then system still allows back posting for only 1 previous month, MMRV is just a tcode to enable the previous month posting if you didn't enable it during MMPV month end closing for material ledgers.
As for financial period , the controls are not the same as material ledger month end. For financial period closing is fully flexible that you can post in any posting date as long as it is enable in OB52. -
How to Open and Close Posting Periods in MM
Hi,
I have opened posting periods for 10/2008 first and by mistake even 11/2008 and 12/2008 using MMPV.
Now when I am trying to do PGI from VL02N, the system says postings are only possible for 11/2008 and 12/2008.
How to close these two periods and default to 10/2008.
Please kindly help me to solve this issue.

SAP QA LeadIt is possible to re-open a previously closed period. However, it is NOT advisable to do so because the valuation data of the previous period could be affected.
In general, it is only safe to reopen a previously closed period when no material postings have been done after the period shifting to the new period.
If there has already been postings after the period shifting to the new period, reverting the period back will cause database inconsistencies in the history tables.
If you decide to proceed with this process, you can use the program RMMMINIT, but, please review the documentation of this program first!! and the check the SAP notes 487381 (for the error message that you are receiving) and the 369637 (for an explanation about the inconsistencies that will be generated.
Steps are as below;
Go to Transaction Code SE38
Enter program name RMMMINIT
Execute or press F8 function button
Enter your company code (From and To)
Enter relevant date: Say 01/03/2008 for Mar. 2008 month to be opened as of now
That means, user can post for the month of Feb 2008 as well as Mar. 2008
Refer SAP Note No. 487381 for more details.
As per SAP Notes 487381 ( If the periods are opened in advance in mmpv to again change it to current period the following process should be follow ), Go to Tcode MMPI, then go to menu bar and select system -> user profile->owndata.In that screen , under the parameters tab enter MMPI_READ_NOTE in Parameter ID field and enter, then under short description you will get Initialise period. Next Save.
Again go to MMPI enter company code, period and year and execute.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Other way of doing it is follow these steps( But try this method in Sand box Only):
1. Go to OX18, and delete the plants assigned to your CO.Cd and save.
2. Go to OMSY and change the posting period to the one u want and save.
3.Go to OX18 and assign the plants you have deleted in step 1.and save.

Why GL Open Period related Workflow Notification is not able to be created on Worklist?
Hi Guru,
Our system is R12.1.2 and I expected and am waiting for WF notification when I closed and re-opened GL Period as Business Events oracle.apps.gl.CloseProcess.period.close, oracle.apps.gl.CloseProcess.period.open and oracle.apps.gl.CloseProcess.period.reopen are predefined and enabled.
But there is not.
Would you please let me know the reason and what would be resolution?
Thank you in advance.Hi Alan,
I can’t reproduce your issue, but you can change the requested by on the task form to “created by” column. Go to SharePoint
designer, open the workflow, under forms section, click task type form workname.xsn to open it in InfoPath form, then you can change the requested by to created by.
For more information, see

Re-open the Previous posting period
hi...
we have closed the posting period for the month of 01-02(april-may) and open the 03-04(june-july)...
but now we want to open the previous posting period i.e. 01-02(april-may) again...so how could we do this..
one solution i have got is that...
1. go to OX18 delete all the assignment for that company code and plant.
2. go to OMSY and change the posting period..
3. go to OX18 and reassign the plant and company code again...
this is the right method to do that..?
will there be any -ive implications if I open the previous period by this procedure..?
or suggest me some other way to do that...
Thanks in advanceHi
You can open Closed MM periods but be careful because SAP does recommend opening closed MM periods.
Steps are :
1) Tcode MMPI --from Tool Bar select - System - User Profile - Own Data - In parameter Tab Enter "MMPI_READ_NOTE" in parameter Field.
Try to remove assignment of plants from company code.
Now Go to -
T-Code OMSY & Set the required Period.
Re-assign Plants to Company Code & Check whether correct preriod is open thru T-Code - MMRV
Now use T-code - OMWD to Assign Valuation grouping code to Valuation area because the earlier data gets deleted when assignment of Plants was removed.
Use the transaction code OMS2 then select FERT (or any other Material Type used by your company)
Then click on the quantity and value update.
Select your plant or valuation area and put Tick Marks in Value update and Quantity update
Even check this link...Reopening the posting period that was closed
This will definitely reslove your problem.
Thanking you. -
How to open already closed period in MM
Hello GURU
I have heard its porrible to open alrady closed period in MM in MMPI
But I would like to know your opinion and how exactyl this can be done?we are in 04 period now and user wnats to open period 01
thanks in advance
hanaHello Hana,
It is possible to reopen a previously closed period. However, it isn't
advisable to do because the valuation data of the previous period could
get affected. If you decide to proceed with the process, please review
the documentation of program RMMMINIT (To see this documentation, please
do the following: SE38, RMMMINIT, and select the documentation button
and display).
Take into account the documentation of the program RMMMINIT:
"Caution
Be careful if the period used for initialization precedes the current
period in the control record for the company code since this can result
in an inconsistency between goods movements and material master segments
This is because the stock information in the material master segments is
assigned to the new current period in this case."
Please also review the note 70545 regarding the initialization
process. Although this note is NOT valid for your release, it provides
good information on the use of initialization for correction purposes.
Additionally, please review the note 369637 in this regard as well.
PLEASE FIRST PERFORM THIS IN A TEST/DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM PRIOR TO MOVING
TO PRODUCTION AS YOUR VALUATION DATA FROM PREVIOUS PERIOD WILL BE
AFFECTED. If you are satisfied with the results, then you can move it
to production.
Also see the SAP On-line documentation (http://help.sap.com):
Logistics - General (LO)
-> Logistics Basic Data (LO-MD)
-> Material Master (LO-MD-MM)
-> Period closing
In addition, as you know, please check the following note as well:
487381 - RMMMINIT: Protection against unintentionial execution
I hope this information helps you.
