Reorganizing

I want to start a new catalog (based on an old catalog that already has all LR edits). I also want to move all my files to a new hard drive. What should be my process for this?
Thanks!

1. Unless you have very good reasons, keep everything in a single catalog. In other words, don't start a new catalog
2. Move the photos in Lightroom, in the folder panel. Drag and drop

  • ITunes has reorganized my music directorty

iTunes has reorganized my music directory.
I had everything carefully organized by genre, artist, etc
Is it possible to return this directory back to the way I had it organized?

    Thank-you but...
The actual directory on my hard drive was manually organized. After installing iTunes where I would have had a directory called for example; e:/music/blues/Albert King/album name etc... Its reorganized into songs and folders all over the e drive bearing no resemblance to the file structure I had set-up. Instead of opening the drive to find about 20 genre directories I now have about, oh, several thousand small directories.
Luckily I have a complete back-up on another drive. I'd like to fix this one and put it back the way it was. I prefer winamp and its easier the way I had it.

  • ITunes Reorganized My Music to Unknown Artist / Album

Due to computer problem, had to reload Windows and iTunes, etc.
I backed up my music files first onto an external hard drive.
Problem: when iTunes was re-setup, it reorganized my music on the backup file and moved about 80% of my music in the unknown artist / unknown album folder (previously empty). The songs are now in iTunes but the only data remaining is "07 - Fire and Rain", etc.
How can I recover the data so that all of my info exists? This is literally thousands of songs.

maybe try deleting those songs and copying them back on with itunes settings changed - edit > preferences > store > automatically download missing album artwork

  • Sync appears to be reorganizing my bookmarks to alpha order every time I reboot Firefox. Can I do anything to get sync to maintain the order I have arranged them in? Xmars never changed my specified order

    Firefox 3.6.11
Sync appears to be reorganizing my bookmarks to alphabetical order.
Every time I reorganize them the way I want. They return to alpha order the next time I bring Firefox up.
    Very annoying.
Sync should leave the organization of my bookmarks alone. Only ensure that all bookmarks are present on all machines but do not reorganize for me.
Is there a fix for this?

    You are welcome.
Sorting and organizing photos on IOS devices is one of the things that really need to be improved. It looks like the developers simply did not expect the users to want to keep large photo libraries on an IOS device, where the ordering would matter. I'd send feedback to the developer team, so that they see, what the users want and need:
You can use this form:  Apple - iPhoto - Feedback

  • I loaded my ipad photos from camera and all the pictures sorted by date.  Next, I did a sync with my computer and the photos were all reorganized into IMPRT folders an out of date sequence.  Any idea how to put the photos back into date files?

I loaded my ipad photos from camera and all the pictures sorted by date.  I later sync my ipad with my computer and the photos were all reorganized into IMPRT folders an out of date sequence.  Any idea how to put the photos back into date files other than reloading all of them from camera?

    What version of iPhoto?
Select one and rotate it. Then rotate it back. Does that make it appear?
A much better work flow is the keep the photos after importing.  Check the success the import, wait for at least one successful backup cycle then use you camera's format command to reformat the card

  • Made a big mistake - reorganized with Windows Explorer

Even though I knew better, I suffered for a momentary loss of memory and reorganized most of my images in Windows Explorer.
I have been tracking down lost files for a couple of days now.  Is there any wholesale way of recovering from this screwup?

First, don't make the problem any worse
Stop moving files around in Explorer
    Get using keywords in LR
Do not use Synchronize or Import to get yourself out of trouble
    Now,
How many missing files are there?
Click the question marks on folders before you do the question marks on thumbnails
Can you resolve the question marks over a period, as and when you need to use the files?

  • I am reorganizing the library using Windows Explorer.

I have been reorganizing the folders under iTunes Media/Music.  Several of the changes worked just fine.   After my last change iTunes only displays 10 of 60 albums.  The problme started when I accidently started iTunes with my backup portable hard drive attached to the PC.  The folder structure was mirrored on the portable HD.  After disconnecting the portable HD, I have had this problem.
    Hos do I recover?

iTunes really doesn't like you moving files around by hand. However as long as there is some semblance of order my script FindTracks should have a reasonable stab at reconnecting things. Turn off Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Keep... if you want to maintain the structural changes you've made so far.
For tips on how to organize the metadata properly in iTunes see Grouping tracks into albums - if you follow the tips there, and iTunes is taking charge of moving the files around, then they will all end up in sensible places.

  • Where is my EXPORT dump file ? How to do BRTools off line table reorgan ?

    Hello,
Here was my BRTools Export output message :

But where is my Export dump file ?
Besides, could you tell me the procedures of using BRTools Export & Import to do off-line table reorgan ?
Due to some reasons, I can't do online table reorgan.

    Hi Ming,
I noted the OSS note 646681 - Reorganizing tables with BRSPACE in my previous message, already. You don't need any additional effort such as creating script, if you use brspace as I noted in my last message.
    Stop the SAP system, but not database then execute the command, below;
    1) brspace -u / -f tbreorg -t "CDHDR"
    2) At the incoming menu steps, select --> (8 - Table reorganization mode (mode)) .. offline
    3) Then continue with "c"
At the end of this steps, table and related indexes will be reorganized.
    You can update statistics by using the command, below after you complete the steps, above respectfully;
    brconnect -u / -c -f stats -t all -f collect -p 4
    Best regards,

  • =/ Itunes just reorganized my library

well...my friend was on my itunes listening to some music and after she leaves i go on to find all my songs reorganized.
it goes from Z to numbers/A ...Help ? please I whould really want it to go back to A/numbers to Z again...

I just read all those 7.3 threads about errors and whooa I'm glad at least I'm not having those.... I'm not sure why, but my guesses are the version.
My iTunes is the latin one (so excuse me if that Ordenation tag isn't named like that on the english version, I'm just translating what I see here) and what I've found about this order thing is that it is on each pronoun, like "La", "El", "Los", "Un", etc, what in english will simply be "The", so do you had your library re-organized on the "The" starting artists?, like uhmm... "Therion"?
I think that's the problem, that iTunes wants to organize my library by ignoring pronouns, but this also happens in names such.... "Laura" per example, which will be organized as "ura" since "La" will be deleted from the ordenation field. And that happens on each ordenation field: Artist, Autor, Album, Song, etc.
Edit- thanks! I didn't read your answer before I post this... and yeah it seems that the problem is that article thing. I already sorted all my songs manually, but I'll be happy to report this bug to avoid this same issue everytime I add a new artist with an article on the name... so, how can I report it?

    Hi Dharmendra,
The error implies SNAP table is full in the SAP system and it cannot write new entries. Since you tried to perform reorganize using ST22 , I would request you to do the following
    1) Check whether Transaction log is full. If yes, then either take backup of transaction log or shrink the same, you can check db2diag.log for more details.
Note : As per log if any process making the log to fill , kindly terminate it
    2) Restart SAP and database.
    3) Repeat the ST22 dump Re-organization process.
    Hope it helps

  • Reorganizing database

    Hi All,
I was going through various discussions related DB reorg.
    Re: Database Reorg.
    reorganization of DB
I believe the concept of reorganizing database is almost like defragmenting freespace in Windows systems.
If it is not done since a long time will it affect the performance since the blocks are scattered all over the datafiles (due to DMLs)? Any method by which we can identify whether a DB is candidate for doing reorganization?
I didn’t face this situation. Just for being aware of this I am enquiring this.
    ~Thanks
    Oracle is Oracle 10.2.0.2

    OK,Thnx for the clarification,
    But still...
If as a result of reorg free extents will come
together and new insert etc operations can make use
of that free space instead of extending datafile (Not
    in all cases).
Please clarify...If you are using Locally Managed Tablespaces (LMTs) all free space is always usable. The idea of coalescing free space to get a usable extent is a holdover from Dictionary Managed Tables.
    >
I think SAP applications recommends doing reorg with
help of tool know as SAPDBA which internally uses
    exp/imp.
I don't have any personal experience with SAP, but other commercial vendors I've worked with (as well as most in-house developers) are notorious for their lack of understanding of how the database works, and so depend heavily on long-obsolete rules and concepts.
    ~Thanks

    1. Is all master data for your InfoObject in source system deleted? Is that what the message is trying to tell you?<br>

  • HELP Desktop reorganized, file split into 10 different pieces -- any way to revert without losing anything? Urgent!

    HELP!
I was showing a friend/client how to take a screenshot of a section of the screen (cmd+shift+4), but I accidentally pressed ctrl+cmd+4 and perhaps a few others (mistake due to using non-apple keyboard with mine), which reorganized her very cluttered but very purposeful desktop!
She was rather upset. It also placed all the files that wouldn't fit in a row beneath her hard-drive icon. Understandably, this is frustrating for her; but what made it worse is that a very important document (is it PDF, .Doc? I don't know...) is, she claims, in TEN PIECES! How is this possible?
I think those are just leftover pieces and the main file is there somewhere, but I haven't heard from her -- this happened yesterday afternoon -- and I don't know if she's even used the finder to locate it (does she remember the name of the file?) -- and now she's going to visit the Apple store, and hoping they can do something for this dilemma!
They can revert to a previous state, but then she might lose recent files.
Is there any way (even intensive) to undo this re-organization of her desktop?
What is the explanation of the important file splitting into ten pieces (apparently from accidentally re-organizing her desktop or pressing a combination of cmd, shift, ctrl, alt, and 4)? Is there any simple way to undo either of these? (I'd gladly suggest a program for her to use to combine pieces of a PDF file or images into a .doc, but at this point, understandably, she is wary of my help. I still want to know what's going on, nevertheless.)
    Thank You All!

No way I know of to undo an arrange.  And I've never heard of files being broken into pieces, whether PDF, DOC, or other.

First I would check how much wasted space is there for table FAGLFLEXA at database level.
Run the following SQL commnad to get such result. The result will include Top 40 Tables sorted by Wasted Space due to Table fragmentation.
The following SQL command is taken from [SAP Note 821687 - FAQ: Space utilization and fragmentation in Oracle|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/821687]. Refer it to get more info.
First Update Database statistics before executing following query.
    SELECT * FROM
    (SELECT
        SUBSTR(TABLE_NAME, 1, 21) TABLE_NAME,
        NUM_ROWS,
        AVG_ROW_LEN ROWLEN,
        BLOCKS,
        ROUND((AVG_ROW_LEN + 1) * NUM_ROWS / 1000000, 0) NET_MB,
        ROUND(BLOCKS * (8000 - 23 * INI_TRANS) *
          (1 - PCT_FREE / 100) / 1000000, 0) GROSS_MB,
        ROUND((BLOCKS * (8000 - 23 * INI_TRANS) * (1 - PCT_FREE / 100) -
          (AVG_ROW_LEN + 1) * NUM_ROWS) / 1000000) "WASTED_MB"
      FROM DBA_TABLES
      WHERE
        NUM_ROWS IS NOT NULL AND
        OWNER LIKE 'SAP%' AND
        PARTITIONED = 'NO' AND
        (IOT_TYPE != 'IOT' OR IOT_TYPE IS NULL)
      ORDER BY 7 DESC)
    WHERE ROWNUM <=40;
The result will tell you about how much space benefit you will get, if you reorganize such required tables.
What is the free space required in PSAPSR3 table space.
The required Space will be sum of Total Space of Table(s) and the sum of total space of their associated indexes. You can extend the default table space (of table owners) with that required size or You can create new Table space for such big tables and incorporate -n <new_table_sapce> option in Table Reorganization command so that the new table will be created in new table space after successful completion of table reorganization process.
    2. PSAPTEMP Tables pace required size.
PSAPTEMP will be used during Index Creation activities. So It should be sufficient to handle such activity. Refer SAP Note  659946 to get more info.
    3. PSAPUNDO Tables pace required size.
PSAPUNDO will be used to store "Before image of last consistent Data" of actual Table Data. In Table reorganization activity Materialized views will be created in default table space of table owner. Such Materialized vies will be used to record all changes of actual Table which happen while Table Reorganization activity.

  • Reorganizing audio book chapters

I uploaded an audiobook that had 13 chapters. Somehow iTunes has reorganized the chapters to be in the following order: 1,10,11,12,13,2,3,4,5,etc. How do I get them back in the proper order? Thx for your time and assistance.

If all these tracks have the exact-same Artist (author of book) and Album (title of book), then the sequence will be governed by the Track Number boxes. Rightclick the first file, and choose Get Info. Enter a "1" in the first Track Number box, then click the Next button at the bottom of the window. Continue entering numbers and clicking Next until all the tracks are numbered. This should do the trick.
The Track Number logic is not perfect. Heaven knows there are hundreds of posts here about people perfectly filling out all fields and iTunes still puts things in the wrong order.
