Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If the problem still isn't solved, quit Safari again.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
Delete the following items from the Library folder:
Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
Relaunch Safari and test.
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Tired of downloading Adobe updates. Does Apple make a pdf reader for iMac?

It's called Preview and is part of the OS X installation. You will see it in the Dock and in Applications folder.

How do I save my Quark document as a pdf on my iMac?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico my first language is Spanish. I do not speak English, however I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
If Quark doesn't offer its own method of doing so (check the manual), then try the built in method from OS X. Print the document. In the Print Dialog Box choose the PDF drop down menu at the bottom and then choose Save as PDF.

    Hi Brian,
    Welcome to Adobe Forum,
ExportPDF is an online convertion program. It is not OS dependent. You can use this service anywhere. You would just require a web browser and working internet connection.

  • Is there Mac software for repairing corrupted pdf files?

Using Mac 10.5.8, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.3.2.
Many of my pdf files are encrypted on a sparsebundle disk image, as they are personal financial files.
Randomly files become corrupted, and even though I back up, it is a recurring and very time-consuming problem.
It's basically the only problem I have with my system, and because of the importance of the files very frustrating.
There are PC-based file repair programs. I've come across references to a command-line program, but hey, I'm a Mac user, right?
    Is there anything?
And while we're at it, what can I do to prevent files from becoming corrupted? These are files from my scanner, not downloaded.
    Thanks

See this list for Cameras that are compatiblie with iMovie. Almost all Sony cameras made in the last 5 years work with iMovie, so odds are high that your camera will work. The only exception is that some manufacturers have started providing 60P cameras. These cannot be used at 60P in iMovie (or on a TV set for that matter). But these cameras typically have other settings like 30P or 60i that work fine.
The bundled software with the Sony is Windows software. They do not bundle Mac software with Sonys because iMovie comes with every Mac anyway, and that is all you need.
I think your camera works with an SDHC card. You can easily insert the SDHC card into a card reader and import the footage. New iMacs have card readers built into the side. In iMovie, you just start iMovie. Then insert the card and wait for iMovie to see it. Or you can click the camera icon on the middle toolbar if it does not see it.
You can also attach your camera via USB. In this case, the camera must be plugged into wall power, and you attach via a USB cable.
Follow the instructions in the manual for how to set the controls of the camera during import.
Edited to add...You need a Mac with at least an Intel Processor to import from this camera. Older PowerPC models (G5, G4) will not work. Even with them you can get third party software to convert to a form iMovie can handle.

General Repair of Adobe Acrobat Reader corrupted .pdf file...
    1. Go to adobe official site, click the "Support" tab on the top of the screen, click on "Adobe Reader," and then select the "I can't open a PDF document" statement underneath "Troubleshooting." The Support tab is located near the top of the screen as a white word against a black backdrop. After clicking Support, you will see the phrase "Product Support Centers" on a new page in bold white font, under which is "Adobe Reader." The new page after clicking "Adobe Reader" will have the word "Troubleshooting" underneath the phrase "Adobe Reader and Help Support." Underneath "Troubleshooting" is "I can't open a PDF document."
    2. Follow the instructions on how to complete a general repair and installation of Adobe Acrobat Reader. To attempt the most basic PDF repair method, Open "Adobe Acrobat Reader" (select the program in your Start menu, which is on the bottom-left part of the screen), select "Help" from the gray tab menu at the top of Adobe Acrobat Reader, and click on "Repair Adobe Reader Installation." A meter should pop up indicating that your Adobe version is being checked for errors and is being linked back to the home Adobe official website just in case you need to download a new update of the program. If you need to download an updated version of the program, another pop-up will appear on your screen asking you if you want to update Adobe. Click "Yes."
    3. Reopen the PDF file. It should now be readable. If not, then try the next set of directions.
    4. If nothing helped, and you can't redowload .pdf file from source where it was, then use third party solution PDF On-line repair service https://onlinefilerepair.com/en/pdf-repair-online.html

  • Adobe Reader 10.1.8 cannot open pdfs on latest iMac and MacOS

Hello, I have a new iMac that I got last spring (Feb. 2013) and it came with the latest Adobe Reader, 10.1.8. (I just recently updated my mac OS to Maverick.) Since starting to use this new computer I've had huge problems opening pdfs. that I download from reliable websites via Adobe Reader. The warning I get is that the pdf file is not a supported file type (or it has been damaged), which I don't believe because I am able to open them on my older iMac. I am also able to open pdfs. received via email. This problem is terribly annoying and I'd be grateful for help in solving it. Many thanks.

    Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files.
    Empty the trash.
Dowenload the latest Reader (XI -11.0.4) here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Install it to replace Reader X.
PDFs downloaded with Safari will no longer be damaged.
Unfortunately the ones that say they are... are, and you should trash them too.

  • How to open a pdf attachment in imac mail

I am unable to open a PDF attachment in Mac Mail. There is not a PDF Icon in the email message. Is there a setting that should be checked?
I have a new iMac (less than a month old) with Mountain Lion.
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It is an actual PDF that is an attachment to an email. There is not a link to click on to open the attachment.
The attachment is a statement that I normally open, then print..
What I am seeing on the monitor is the heading portion of the email with the statement image, all on one page..It prints exactly as seen on the screen.
I have checked my Mail>Preferences>Viewing Tab."Display remote images in HTML" messages is checked..
    Thanks for the help.

  • I am experiencing difficulties opening some web-based PDF files on my iPad. I was having the same difficulty opening the same PDFs on my iMac (after I upgrade to Yosemite) but was able to overcome it by adjusting the Adobe Reader plug-in settings.

I am experiencing difficulty opening some web-based PDF documents on my iPad. I had exactly the same difficulty on my iMac (after I upgraded to Yosemite) but was able to overcome it by adjusting the Adobe Reader plug-in security settings in Safari (in OSX).
Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to similarity adjust the security settings in Safari in iOS 8.
The message I get when I attempt to open the PDF (on my iPad) is as follows:
"To view the full contents of this document you need a later version of PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from ..."
Needless to say this is unhelpful for two reasons:
    - I have the very latest version of Adobe Reader; and
    - in iOS Adobe Reader is not a plug-in and plays absolutely no role in opening web-based PDF documents.
If anyone has experienced this difficulty and has been able to overcome it I would be most appreciative to hear of you solution.
    Cheers

  • Catastrophic Rendering Problem with PDF's on iMac, iPad, iPhone and iBooks

    Hi,
i would like to hear from anybody who has had the same experience.
A customer sent me an order per email with an attached PDF order. We use apple mail for all incoming emails on an iMac.
Both in apple mail when viewing the attachment (no need to open it) and in the previewer using quick look and also having saved the attachment and opened it directly with previewer all seemed OK.
We delivered the product as requested but received a complaint because the client claimed that we had overlooked certain details in the order. This caused a considerable amount of disagreement because both parties felt they were right.
To make sure the documentation was complete we saved the attachment on our vmware- windows XP machine in our client data folders. We later opened the attachment on the windows machine which uses adobe reader and not apple previewer.
Lo and behold - all the details which the client said were contained were now visible.
Further investigation showed that any data which the client had printed/generated in bold font were not being displayed on the mac.
Unbelievable, so we forwarded the mail to a sevaral colleagues for double checking.
They all confirmed our findings. Apple mail and previewer do not display the same data as when using adobe reader.
Even worse: neither do the email displayer on ipad or iphone conform to what is displayed by the original. Even saving the docoment to iBooks does not help.
Our only guess is that the client who sent the PDF is probably using a non-adobe pdf creator which happens to work if you use adobe reader to display it but probably does not conform to the spec which others, such as apple, use when displaying. Maybe abobe reader is just more error tolerant.
I have sent feedback to apple but hardly think they will crash update all their products.
As it happened this caused an argument about a few euros. I hate to think what it could cause though.
    -Paul-

While not common, what you describe is no unusual either. I can tell you that the person who created the PDF almost certainly used Adobe's products. It is Adobe that is not compatible with all of the other PDF implementations. I encourage you to submit a bug report to Apple and include a copy of the PDF. There was a "bug" in Apple's PDF rendering software in version 10.6.7 for which Apple released a fix fairly quickly. I say "bug" in quotes because the PDF was perfectly valid according to all published standards. All PDF viewing programs on either Mac or Windows could read the PDF - except Adobe.
Ultimately, PDF is a print technology and will fall by the technology wayside pretty soon.

I'm using Mac OSX 10.9.2 and latest version of Adobe Reader on a Macbook Air. I've tried Preview, Pages, Mail, PDF Signer. All give the same error message.
Here's what the folks at PDF signer told me a couple of days ago:
That PDF document was created using Adobe LiveCycle Designer and contains
proprietary Adobe data (known as XFA forms) that is not part of the PDF
specifications. This PDF document will only open in Adobe products (Acrobat
and Reader), all other PDF viewers/editors are unable to open these kind of
documents (e.g. it won't open in the Mac's "Preview" application as well).
Unfortunately, Adobe uses this to promote their own products instead of
providing the information and tools for other PDF engines to use these
    documents.

  • How to repair corrupted PDF-File  ?

    Hi there !
I am having problems with a couple of PDF-files which got damaged due to a hard drive break down / file recovery action.
Neither can i open them ("...not supported") nor have several attempts in repairing them (by using Pdf-repair software) been successful.
Interesting point about it is, that in terms of file characteristics everything seems to be OK (file size, file type etc. are recognized by the computer).
Does anyone have an idea what could be done to get my PDF's back to a readable status ?
    Thanks     timrelo
Ps: In case you got an idea about how to fix a corrupted pdf-file, i am willing to send you one of my files.
