Repair file *.pst

Hi You, my *.pst file is about size is 3Gb, I had used canpst.exe  of Microsoft Office to repair but failure, it's show error as " The MS Outlook Inbox Repair Tool does not recognize the file D:\...\archive.pst. No infomation can be recovered. "
Could you pls advise me this case?
My office is version 2010 and I'm using profile is POP3 and system iOS is Win 7 - Pro x64.

Hi,
Since Scanpst.exe didn't help fix the .pst file, now we can try some 3rd-party tools to repair the .pst file, keep a backup of the file in case it's permanently damaged.

  • How to repair a .pst file?

    Hello,
My colleague's Outlook pst file is corrupted and the file size is more than 17 GB. Scanpst.exe and PST Recovery Software could not recover the file. Is there any other way to repair it?
    Best Regards,
    Ammar Wasif

The only two ways to repair corrupt .pst files are: SCANPST.EXE and a third-party PST recovery software.
I suggest to read the given blog on WordPress:
How to deal with a corrupt PST file of MS Outlook?
By reading this blog, you'll come to know how to use SCANPST.EXE to fix corrupt .pst files. Other than SCANPST.EXE there is one more solution to repair corrupt .pst files, which is PST repair software. You can search some advanced third-party PST repair
    or recovery software.
    Thanks.

  • How to Repair Database .pst file of MS Outlook?

I am unable to open my Outlook file due to corruption how to repair database .pst file of MS outlook. I was using Microsoft Outlook 2007 from last 2 years and everything is going well. But suddenly I have got an error message “outlook data file cannot
be accessed ” while accessing PST file. It was also suggested me to run scanpst.exe tool. I had tried to repair my inaccessible PST file many times with the help of Inbox repair tool.  But this utility is unable to solve my issue, please suggest me how
can I repair my corrupted database.pst file without losing any information. Is there any way to restore all information from inaccessible PST file into new PST file to continue working as previously?

    Hi,
My first recommendation is Scanpst.exe from Microsoft, but since you mentioned it didn't fix the issue, you can also try some 3rd-party tools to fix the data file. Please remember to keep a backup before performing any actions on the file.
In case the issue was caused by the corrupted profile, you can also create a new profile and setup an account in Outlook, check if you can open the .pst file.

    Hallo Ahmed,
Repair a outlook.pst file and .ost
follow these simple and easy steps.
Exit Outlook, then click Start > Computer.
Browse to <drive>:\Program Files — or, if you see a Program Files (x86) folder on the same drive, browse to that instead. For example, C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86).
In the Search box, type Scanpst.exe.
If the search doesn't find Scanpst.exe, try searching in the alternative folder mentioned in step 2, above — Program Files or Program Files (x86).
    Double-click Scanpst.exe.
In the Enter the name of the file you want to scan box, enter the name of the .pst file you want the tool to check, or click Browse to
    select the file.
By default, a new log file is created during the scan. Or, you can click Options and choose not to have a log created, or to have the results appended
    to an existing log file.
    Click Start.
If the scan finds errors, you're prompted to start the repair process to fix them.

  • Outlook 2010 PST Import issue: ".pst is not an Outlook data file (.pst)"

I recently installed the Office 2010 Beta and am attempting to import my old .PST files from Outlook 2007.  However, every time I try it I get the error, ".pst is not an Outlook data file (.pst)".  The two data files are large (2+ GB in size each) but have been working fine with Outlook 2007.  Steps to repro are:
    1.       In Outlook 2010, click the File tab.
    2.       Click Open and then click Open Outlook Data File.
    3.       Navigate to the .pst file to import and then click Ok.
When I click "open Outlook data file" I get the error "the file Outlook.pst is not an outlook data file (.pst).
I've seen at least one other person post this question on another forum...  Any help you can provide would be fantastic as I have a lot of history (obviously ;-) tied up those files.
    Thanks!

Try updating your QuickTime to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

  • Error message 'The Outlook data file (.pst) failed to load for this session.' when adding PST in Outlook addin

    Hi All,
I have an Outlook (2003-2013) addin developed using C# (NOT VSTO).
A new client (using the desktop client for Outlook 365) has got a COMException error message stating 'The Outlook data file (.pst) failed to load for this session.' at the code line where I add the PST store (using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.NameSpaceClass.AddStoreEx).
I have never come across this error message before and there is barely any mention of this message on any forums. The only question I could find regarding this has been asked mid 2014 and hasn't been answered.
I'm fairly sure this is not related to either DisablePST or PSTDisableGrow registry key settings as I check fore their existance and notify the user separately.
Could anyone help me out on how to resolve this? I do not know where to begin even.
    Thanks!!
    Cheers!

    Hi Eugene,
    Thanks for the reply.
I pass the location that the PST is to be created (as a string), and the OlStoreType.olStoreUnicode constant.
The client is using a network location to store the PST file (even though we advised them not to) - leading to many corrupt PST files (that they are apparently happy to live with), but this is the first time we came across this message.
I would assume the problem is with that file, as no other clients are having any issue like this.
Have you come across this error message? Do you know what sort of scenario could be responsible for it?
Or would I have to file it under "random problems generated by network PSTs"? :P
    Cheers!

  • There was an error opening this document. Could not repair file

    Hi,
I generated a report in PDF format on web. I'm able to save this file and reopen in Acrobat Reader(4.0). But only for a specific query criteria, it generates, able to save the file but not able to open. It gives the message "There was an error opening this document. Could not repair file" when I'm trying to open the PDF file. My query criteria is search based on Location,From Date and To Date. I'm surprised why it doesn't open, only for a specific query criteria, more over when it is able to generate it. Can somebody help me out.
    Thanks,
    Srinivasa Karri.

    Srinivasa,
Please try destype=file and desnformat=pdf , save the PDF in the filesystem. Then open using the Acrobat reader not with the browser and see whether you get this error

  • Can you help? -- Browser Webpage Loading Problems after Repairing File Permissions with Disk Utility

    Hello,
I have been experiencing extremely slow startup times and slow application startup times for the past month on my 7-month old iMac.
I read in many places, including the Apple communities, that "repairing file permissions" using the Mac Disk Utility would help. So I ran it and now all my browsers including Safari and Firefox will not load or take 5 to 10 minutes to load a webpage - especially websites that have login features (eg. Gmail, Facebook, Hotmail).
As of my last re-start, Firefox will not load webpages and Safari is extremely slow at opening anything.
Has this problem occured for anyone after "repairing file permissions"?
    And can anyone assist?
    Thank you,
    Shane

    The Solution?
REINSTALL OSX using the Install DVD.
I called APPLE Support and we went through a troubleshooting process to rule out Network Issues, Software Issues, File Issues and Hardware Issues. This process was very thorough.
In the end, we used the Operating System Installation DVD to reinstall the system, which took about 60 minutes including downloading the updates. Reinstallation did not affect any files or lose any applications. Everything was as I left it -- nothing was missing. Easy.
Now everything is back to normal.

  • Trying to repair files recovered with Photorec

Does anyone know how to repair files recovered with photorec. I was able to recover the files after deleting them but now I have an issue of having to link the audio back with the video. Any suggestions
    Thanks
    j.

Media is very finicky, and if it has been deleted and recovered, you'd be hard pressed to get it to work properly again.
My suggestion is to recapture from the master tapes, or reimport from the card backups if tapeless.
Please tell me you have the masters...because if you are trying Herculean efforts to recover data, I have the sneaking suspicion that you don't have them.

  • Repairing / Compressing .PST files and Outlook Processes in Task Manager

Does Outlook 2010 still use scanpst.exe for repairing .PST files?  That seems to be what I read in a few articles that I found online, but I can't seem to find my scanpst.exe   file.  It either wasn't installed originally or it has been deleted
by something.  I am running Windows 7 Pro and I I looked in the Office 14 folder, which is where the article said it should be, but it wasn't there.  I also search the whole drive.  I found a scanpst.exe0002 in an installs directory.  I
am assuming that is the file in some form of compressed format as it comes for installation, but I don't know how to get it into the standard .exe format.
I tried running Outlook repair from the Program Installs / Uninstalls application.  That does not seem to have helped.
The reason I am even doing this is that Outlook is hanging, e.g. just stoppin and not responding.  It does this when I select a specific PST folder and it may do it at other times.  But it is more than just Outlook hanging.  When it hangs,
you can shut down Outlook, but there is still an Outlook Process running that cannot be shut down at least by my normal none admin user ID.
And even more strange is that when this is the case, I cannot log off nor can I shutdown.  The whole system just hangs in a state of limbo.  I can walk away and come back a half hour later and the screen will still say "Logging off" or
    " Shutting down".
I see not error messages concerning Outlook in the Application Event log.  I do see a whole bunch of Warning messages about Outlook, but they are all about Event Id 27, "Calendar Folder Property missing" and date back to January
What do I do here?  I am thinking that there may be an issue with one or more of my pst files either growing too large, or being corrupted.  I don't know what else can hang Outlook like that.  And I am concerned that I can't shut down a process
    running under my ID.
    Henry

Yes, unless you're using the Click to Run (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982434) version of Office then scanpst.exe should be there. Note, depending on whether it's 32 or 64 bit it can be found in either
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
    or
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
so I wonder if you were looking in the wrong one? Depending on your setup it's possible to have both paths on your system, though only one of them will contain the required files.

  • How to open and winzip repair file?

I have a problem. Zip archiv write error: unexpected end of file during unpacking on 60 %.

The program has a standard 7zip restore function, try using it or try to open with Winrar.
You can use the recovery files (the menu WinRAR> Operations> Restore archive) or call the same function key combination <Alt + R>. Restore to WinRAR is permissible only files compressed in archives in RAR and ZIP.
If none of this does not help you, use Zip Repair Toolbox

  • How can I repair file permissions?

    Greetings!
Recently I get this warning when I do a File Permissions Repair with help of Distools:
`Warning: SUID File `System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDagentApp/Contents/MacOS/ARDage nt` is changed and cannot be repaired.
I did a few attempts to repair this file permission by hand and also used Onyx to repair this but when my Mac had a restart are the permissions again change to `only read` and do I get the same Warning.
Shall I just let it be? Or what can I do to change this?
    With kind regards,
    Silvia

That warning is on this list http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448 and as per Apple can be safely ignored.

  • Bug or feature? Disk utility does not repair file ownership

The repair access permissions in "Disk utility" is not aware of the file owner "_unknown" that is shown in the file information. This cannot be changed in any other way than "sudo chown -R (me) file" in terminal.
Can't file this as a bug because I did not pay the 99 bucks yet.

You can send feedback to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
While not "officially" filing a bug report, they do read them so if enough people file the same report or Apple deems it important enough to merit allocating resources to it, it could still make a difference.

    Post relates to: Tungsten T5

I would suggest that you back up as much as you can on to an SD card and Hard reset the device, and yes that will cause all remaining data on the T5 to be removed. After that point you should have no further issues performing a hotsync or moving any data that you may have backed up back to the internal memory.
