Repair Internet Access without Hard Reset (E72)

I just came back from a trip. I used many different Wifi-hotspots during my journey, which kept accumulating in the internet settings. So I deleted all the new hotspots from my Nokia E72 phone. Unfortunately, this action messed up the internet access completely.
I already did a reset of the settings with +#7780#, but to no avail. I have SmartConnect 1.3.6 installed. Deleting and reinstalling did not change anything.
In detail:
I cannot change the access point for the built-in browser any more. When I select it, nothing happens. Before the reset it had now connection at all, now it is fixed to my mobile network providers internet access point (GPRS/3G).
In internet settings (Menu -> Ctrl. Panel-> Settings-> Connection -> Destinations) there is now an empty destination group without a name, and it can not be deleted.
Certain functions in internet settings do not work any more, like copying an access point to another group. The destination settings often will hang and cannot be closed any more. A restart is needed.
Some applications (e.g. Podcasting) still show some of the deleted access points.
Almost all other applications which do not have their own access point management (like. fring) will not connect anymore.
My question:
Is there any other way of accessing and/or deleting these settings (maybe directly in the system) besides doing a hard reset (*#7370#) requiring a (PC-based) backup?
If I ever want to travel only with my E72 I would need a solution to these problems on the phone itself.
Thanks.

@hadimassa: as I wrote in my post, SC has nothing to do with my problem. Installing SC doesn't improve stability in general and maybe one of the causes in the first place, but this was not the point here. Too late, so to say
The internet access parameters must be stored somewhere on the C: drive. I am interested in the exact location.

  • No internet access after hard reset.

I hit the hard reset button on my router and now my computer & other devices can not access the internet. I can connect to my router but have no internet. It was working fine earlier today until it was hard reseted.
I ran windows troublshoot and I got: 'The network gateway is accessible, but Windows couldn't receive network traffic from the internet."
    Solved!

All my devices finally gained internet access after again hard reseting my router and then power cycling my modem, router, and pc. Thanks Eddie 956for not giving up on yourself!

  • No Internet access without replugging WAN to Linksys EA2700

Every time after the router (Linksys EA2700) is powered off and restarted, there is no interent access available. The router configuration status reports an Internet Address of 0.0.0.0 and all the devices at home are left with a wifi without Internet access. I have to unplug the WAN from the router and plug it in again while it is turned on to restore internet access (and a normal Internet Address is seen from the status page). The WAN works fine with the routers I had previously. I wonder if I have to perform this every time I power on the router. Do you have any suggestions? I have tried resetting the router and reinstalling Cisco Connect but that didn't work.

It would be best to isolate the concern by connecting a computer to the modem. Observe the performance of the modem’s internet connection within 24 hour. If there is nothing wrong with the modem’s performance then you now need to deal with the router. Make sure that the router’s firmware has been updated then reset the router after a firmware upgrade. If you have determined that the problem is really with the router then you might need to return the router and have it replaced.

  • Clicking on router in Win7 My Computer Network killed internet until router hard reset!

I blogged about a really odd bug I found in either Win7 and or the verizon fios router, check it out...

In a nutshell, double clicking on the router in the network area in my computer, killed the broadband pipe on the router until I hard reset the router.
The verizon rep said this was news to him and he escalated it internally but I wanted to throw it out there for anyone that runs into this

I have an Actiontec router, I tried what you did and got somewhat different results:
    1) When I look at my network in Windows 7 I see "Wireless Broadband Router" not "Actiontec ...." Strange. But a right-click on the icon and selecting Properties does show the device as an Actionte.
    2) The first time I double-clicked on the router icon, nothing happened, I still had internet connectivity.
    3) When I double-clicked on the router icon a second time, I did lose internet connectivity as you did.
    4) When I logged into the router it clearly said the WAN was disconnected, same as you.
    5) I did a reboot of the router from within the router dialog. When it finished rebooting the WAN showed "connecting". After waiting a few minutes it showed "connected" and all worked normally. No hard reset required
That is strange that it does disable the WAN. But again I was able to get it back with just a reboot. I am one of the original FiOS internet users, I still have a PPPoE connection and my WAN is Ethernet not coax so that might explain the difference, I don't know.
But yeah, Verizon needs to fix that.

  • Verizon iPad 2 won't "wake up" without hard reset!

I am having a problem where my Verizon iPad 2 will go into a state where it won't "wake up" unless you do a hard reset. It won't respond to the power or home button. I notice that this happens after the iPad 2 has been unused for a few hours. The 4.3.2 update did not resolve this problem.
If you do a hard reset (hold home and power for several seconds), it will start back up again, but it will say that a "restore is needed" and asks to connect to iTunes. If you ignore this and turn the device off and on again, the device will finally start as normal.
I have recreated this numerous times. Once again, the 4.3.2 update did not resolve this.
Anyone else experience this and ideas on how to fix it? I can't say for certain when this started happening, but I don't think it started until 4.2.1. I don't know if that caused it though.

My wifi iPad 2 is behaving similarly, and the same general problem is reported at:
        http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-help/13892-ipad-does-not-wake-sleep-mode.html
The conclusion on that forum was to contact Apple / the store of purchase etc. The outcome reported was the replacement of the device.
I have tried: multiple resets, powering off and on, removing all but the original apps, and "Reset all settings", but I still can't wake it from sleep without resetting it.  The behaviour is the same whether in the field or powered in the dock.  My next step was to "Erase all content and settings" - however I'm glad I checked some forums first, I'll call Apple on Monday.

  • Delete email account without hard reset?

I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S3 to Android 4.1.1.  Shortly thereafter (and perhaps coincidentally), I could not connect to one of my email accounts (my Yahoo account, if it matters). Other email accounts are still functioning normally, so the problem is limited to this one account.  I would like to delete the account and start over, but I receive a message that the this email account is used by other apps, and the only way to remove it is by performing a hard reset to factory settings.  Is there way around this hassle?  Thanks in advance for the help!

Same issue..  Not sure I like the new google voice search either.   It used to show the Web Call Map in the search results, now I have to open it in in the map to get to the call feature.  Extra steps google, why'd you do it?   Verizon fix your yahoo email.  This is rediculous to have this many issues with an email client that were trying to delete and read it for a solution.

  • Re-setting up internet access after hard drive replacement

I have a 333 mhz iMac running OS 9.1 that I had connected with an ethernet cable to Airport (before I got an iBook and Airport last year it was just connected directly to the cable modem). Recently I had to replace the hard drive and now start from scratch. So I went through the Internet Setup Assistant but when I try to connect I get a box popping up that says "Another device on your TCP/IP Internet, which has the physical address [correctly shown] is currently using the same IP address [correctly shown]. Your TCP/IP network interface has been shut down." I looked at the control panel and everything there looked correct. I thought I might do a do-over and just run the Internet Setup Assistant again, but it won't let me (even if I try another "name"). Is there something I'm missing?
Also, in using the Setup Assistant, am I correct to call my connection Ethernet and not Modem? When I got Airport last year, I just unplugged the cable from the modem and plugged in an ethernet cable without further reconfiguration (I think I turned on file sharing).
    Thanks in advance.
    iMac   Mac OS 9.1.x

Set the TCP/IP control panel to use Ethernet and DHCP to get an IP address. This will allow the iMac to get a correct IP address from the AirPort base station (ABS).

  • How can I keep changes on universal access without it resetting when I reboot?

    Hey,
I use universal access on the hearing tab to output sound as mono, however when I reboot it unticks the selection box again?
Is there any way I can get it to stay in mono mode?
    Thanks,
    Jw

Yes, of course.  iTunes was around before there was an iTunes Store.  And I think Apple cares MORE that you purchased an iPod, and LESS about where you get your music to play on the iPod.
You can buy music the "old school" way, on CD, and "rip" them into your iTunes library using iTunes.
You can download/buy music from other sources, as longs as the format is MP3 or AAC, and don't use copy protection (DRM).  NOTE:  iTunes Store music downloads do not use any DRM.
    One example is Amazon.com.
    http://www.amazon.com/MP3-Music-Download/b/ref=sa_menu_mp3_str1?ie=UTF8&node=163 856011
They offer a utility called Amazon MP3 Downloader, which automatically places your downloads into your iTunes library.
If the source just provides you with the downloaded song files, all you need to do is open a window showing the files or the folder containing the files.  Run iTunes and select Music in the sidebar, under LIBRARY.  Then drag the songs files or the folder containing the files from its window to the iTunes window, and drop them there.  iTunes will add the songs to your iTunes library.
Once the songs are in your iTunes library, you can automatically sync or manually load them onto your shuffle.

  • E3000 - Guest access without password

    Hi,
I just installed a new E3000 wireless router and it works fine.
But i'd like to give my guests Internet access without having to enter a password.
I know how to change the -guest password but it requires a 4 digit minimum password.
Is there a way to remove it ?
    Thanks

No. There's no way you can remove it. The least you can do is to make the password simpler like 1234 or something.

  • 5800XM - hard reset after upgrade ?

hi all ! I just want to ask. my friends told me to hard reset my Tube and re-formated my memory card after I upgrade the firmware. is it true ? they said its a must (lot of explanation why, can't write it all). but i don't had trouble without hard reset my phone. I've had my Tube upgraded to FW21 from FW20. Anyone ?

Your friend is over-reacting a bit.
Basically, some people might have to do a hard reset if they have problems after the update, but most people probably won't have problems.
I covered this in a 5800 firmware tutorial I did for AAS, I hope it's okay to link to it:
    http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/item/How_to_update_the_firmware_on_the_Nokia_5800_XpressMusi...
    Basically:
1.If the OTA firmware update works without a hitch, you don't need to do anything
    2. If there's a problem after the update, try a settings reset using the code*#7780# and then lock code (which is 12345 by default)
    3. If there's still a problem, try a firmware update through the PC application (ie wipe the phone).
    4. If there's STILL a problem, contact Nokia's support services (go to nokia.com/support and select your country or region)

  • Which device can i use to broadcast a wifi signal without internet access?  I want to connect a hard drive to this device and access it from my ipad.

I want to be able to access a hard drive wirlessly from my ipad.  There is no internet available.  Can i make this work?

An AirPort Extreme can do this, as well as a Time Capsule....which is an AirPort Extreme with a built in hard drive.
In either case, you will need an App like Filebrowser installed on the iPad to be able to access the data on the hard drive.  More info on Filebrowser just below:

  • I'm connected to the wifi at home but no internet access. i was surfing on the same wifi without any problems. and also this issue is for other wifi network.

    hello everyone.
i was surfing browsing and downloading on my iphone 4 on my home wifi and other places without any problem but today i found out that even though i'm connected to my wifi i got no internet access. i also got this new problem, my led flash is on.  if i tilt the device the flas dims a bit. i tried switching off the device but still the flash is on. i tried using at other wifi network same problem. i tried forget this network, switching off and turning on the device i also tried reseting the network and also hard reseting the device. but still same problem. what can i do about this? and if i send it to apple what are my options? i got warrant coverage so will they be able to repair it ? if they are not able to repair then will they give me new iphone 4 or refurbished iphone 4 for replacement?

Apple does not repair devices.  If they are covered under warranty, the device is replaced.  You will not get a new phone, you will get a service unit which is as good as if not better than new.
If all the basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide has been done and the device does not get Internet access via Wi-Fi from multiple locations, the only thing left is to take it to Apple.

  • Need to do a hard reset on an iphone 4 but cant access apple id account and cant get reset to email address as it has been closed.

cant finish a hard reset on iphone 4, i cant access my apple account as i forgot the password and cant get a reset sent to the email address i had as thats been deleted, does anyone have any ideas?  i still have the box the iphone4 came in so i do have the serial no.

Going to Apple is pointless. They will not do anything to help. Activation lock is an anti-theft feature.
If the seller "forgot" the pasword for her Apple ID, then she needs to re-set it so that it can be used to unlock the phone. If she says she can't for some reason, demand your money back. If she refuses, I stand by the statement that the phone is most likely stolen.
The phone is completely useless without the Apple ID and password.

  • Can't active Internet email account since I hard reset my torch 9800

HI, I did a hard reset lately because I wanted to clear my enterprise email . Since this time, I can't active internet email like Hotmail on my torch 9800. I have the option to activate my old email  in the menu "Email Account Activation" but when I try to verify my password I have an error message " Sorry, unable to continue your session. Please log in again,"  Does somebody know what I can do to activate my old email or a new one?

Yes.  You can use Telus's self-serve BIS site from where you can add, delete and edit email accounts for your phone from your PC.  You'll have to call Telus to get a user/pass combo but it's worth doing.
Secondly, if you don't want to bother with that option, you can type www.blackberry.com/integrate from your phone's browser.  That will get you the same results as the first link I gave to you.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Hard reset to access 3rd party apps via gprs

    Hi,
My BB9300 curve runs with OS5, and I'm
using airtel India carrier. I don't have BIS plan,
I'm using normal gprs plan to run third party
    apps like opera and whatsapp.
These apps works well with gprs, but the
problem is, it suddenly stops working saying
that no internet connection is available. Then to
fix this I've 2 do a battery pull(hard reset) every
    time.
I've also upgraded to OS6, but the above problem still remains. In my observation this problem is maximum whenever I'm travelling and where the network connection will disconnect and reconnect frequently.
Kindly provide any fixes available for this.
    Thanks,
    Bhavan

    Hello,
Quite frankly, I don't think that there are any fixes. You see, BBs are designed to work best in conjunction with a BIS-level data plan; they simply aren't designed to work as well without BIS. Hence, since you are using it without BIS, I suspect that what you are experiencing is what you will have to continue doing for as long as you run your BB without BIS.
    Good luck!
