Repair Loop after Update, Lenovo Ideapad U430 Touch

I restarted my computer this morning and it installed an update. When it rebooted, it said there was a problem and began a diagnosing/repair loop. It came up with several options, including restarting the computer (which I did multiple times) and resetting/repairing startup. Nothing worked and it just kept looping back to the original screen. I do not want to reset my entire computer and I do not remember when (or if) I ever saved a backup copy. I just purchased this computer in February and I desperately need it for school. Please let me know what I can do!

hi Shreenith,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Try Turning on the Computer and wait till you see any sign of Windows loading, this kicks in right after the Lenovo Screen.
Hold the Power button down to force shutdown the system.
Repeat this step until you get a Recovery environment.
You could get this Screen and access the System Restore.
If that did not help you can go for Refresh PC
Let me know your findings
Cheers!

  • PXE-E61: Media Test failure, Check cable in my Lenovo Ideapad U430 Touch.

I have bought my U430 Touch last June, 2014. Recently i am getting the "PXE-E61: Media Test failure, Check cable" error while switching on my laptop. And it does not precede any farther for booting. I have tried disabling the “Network Boot” as well but no luck. It always stuck on the same black screen error. Can you please help me on this issue.

  • Lenovo Ideapad S410p Touch automatically switches to Boot Menu after being idle

    Hi Everyone,
I would just like to share this little issue I have with this new laptop I bought - I got this Lenovo Ideapad S410p touch from the Lenovo branch in SM Cubao, Philippines. This issue seems to repeat when I let my laptop stay idle, it would automatically go to the boot menu. After choosing the option to boot from disk drive, or pressing ESC it just goes back to boot menu and not boot the OS. Then I would need to long press and hold the power button so I could turn it off then turn it back on. Have you guys ever had this issue? I keep getting this one and have been searching the internet/forums without fruition.
Hope devs from Lenovo take a look at this one. Laptop is about a month old and is already acting up.

here are some of the pics of what it goes to when it's on idle

  • WiDi on IdeaPad U430 touch

    Hello,
I haven't get an answer from the lenovo support yet, but I am interested in the IdeaPad U430 touch and want to know, if there is WirelessDisplay on board.
    Thanx

I have an IdeaPad U430 Touch and I am using WIDi on it. You should make sure you update to Windows 8.1 (if it is not preloaded) and run the Windows update to get the latest graphics and WiFi drivers. I am using it with ActionTec ScreenBeam Pro Wireless Display adapter and the Netgear PTV3000.
The Intel website below has a tool that checks if your system has the latest drivers and updates it:

  • Ideapad U430 Touch - Verarbeitungsmängel - Reparaturdauer nicht tragbar

    Hallo zusammen,

  • Installing Windows 7 on Ideapad U430 Touch

I just recently got a Lenovo Ideapad U430, and I already don't like Windows 8, which came with it. I went to install Win7 x64 Professional today. I did what I usually do whenever I reinstall Windows: I downloaded the ISO from the Microsoft website, I burned it to a usb drive using the official Microsoft tool, and went into BIOS to boot from the flash drive. However, I am unsure about how to go about actually installing it. I ran into some trouble with the partitions, but was able to shrink the Windows 8 partition and create a new 210.9GB one for win7. Unfortunately, when I went to install 7, it said that the partition could not be used since its apparently a GPT styled partition. My dad tried formatting it and some other things, but it never worked. When he looked online, all he could find was issues regarding the USB drive not being UEFI or something; it was confusing.
My main question is whether or not its fully safe to Windows 7 on this machine. That's the main reason wanted to keep Windows 8 on there, in case 7 didn't work. So... would it be ok to fully format the harddrive and install Windows 7 clean on it? I'm mainly concerned about driver compatability and whether or not messing with the partitions will mess up the laptop in some way.

I'm not sure about your partition issue as I'm running 8.1 but you can use the generic Intel drivers for Windows 8.x or Windows 7, depending on the OS version you're running.
    You can find them here:
    http://intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect
Lenovo drivers are old and have bugs that have since been fixed by Intel.

  • Ideapad U430 Touch gibt störende Geräusche von sich

    Hallo,

  • Upgraded to Windows 10 on Lenovo Ideapad p400 touch, screen went dim

Hello,I just installed the free Windows 10 upgrade on my Lenovo Ideapad p400 touch last night.  I woke up this morning and booted up my computer, and everything was fine until I attempted to change the brightness.  When I tried to do this, my screen went very dim, and now I can't adjust the brightness (and I can't read my screen well, either).  Normally, I would install/reinstall the video driver in order to fix this problem (recommended for other users with similar issues), but I currently do not see a Windows 10 version of the driver I need on the Lenovo website.I was wondering:a) if/when a new driver would be available to install (if that's the recommended solution)b) is there something else going on?c) Windows 10 allows you to revert back to Windows 8.1 within the first month of use.  Should I just do this?d) Is the p400 touch capable of running Windows 10? Why or why not?Thank you!

Hello.  I also have a Lenovo Ideapad p400 touch.  Screen also went dim on me. In Windows 8.1 just uninstalling graphic's driver worked.  It was Control Panel, Device Manager and then Display Adapters.  That doesn't work with Windows 10. The other solution of rebooting and press the increase brightness key at the Lenovo logo somewhat works but it doesn't turn the brightness all the way up. So I found this worked for me: Go here:  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-p-series-laptops/ideapad-p400-touch-notebook/downloads/DS031547 And just download and reinstall the old graphics driver for Windows 8.  That finally got me back to maximum brightness.

  • Lenovo G780 stuck in Automatic Repair Loop after Windows 8 update

My recent Windows 8 update stuck my computer into an infinite automatic repair loop which results in a blue screen amd the process repeats itself. I tried the OneKey restore feature and the system recovery feature just hangs then it goes back to the same loop issue with rebooting. I called Lenovo for recovery discs since I don't have any any but my concern is does it matter if I mentioned whether I had a 32 or 64 bit OS? I told her to make sure it was for a Windows 8 system amd she just said it works for the G780 models. I'm just hoping these discs work.for a 64 bit system

It should work. Support cannot send you recovery disks if you didn't provide them your serial number. They can check the correct pre-installed OS from your serial number so I'm sure they're sending out the correct disks.

  • Lenovo laptop u430 Touch - strange UEFI boot problem

Hello!! I'm Javier from Argentina. I'm having a strange boot problem with my Lenovo u430 Touch and Windows 8.1 x64 configured in UEFI.
When I power on o restart the laptop It gets stuck at lenovo logo screen and i have to press a key from the keyboard to continue booting on Windows 8.1 x64. This is really annoying.
No hdd activity.Trying to solve the problem I reset bios to default settings, I updated to last bios available and restored Windows 8.1 with OKR but i have no luck.
To solve this problem I configured the laptop to use legacy support, but I would that someone can help me to use again my laptop with UEFI bios settings.

  • Restarting loop after update to 10.5.7!

Hey Guys, I have a serious problem with OSX after updating to 10.5.7!
I updated through Software Update and the macbook restarted.
After that it went into a restarting loop. It boots-up, the logo and moving circle appears, and then it restarts.
    I tried everything-
boot from Leopard CD, and repaired OSX partition, Hardware Test, Safe Mode, Single user mode, Verbose mode, and after I did Option-Command-P-R to Reset NVRAM instead of an apple logo and circle, appears a crosses out circle and it starts up using my XP via Bootcamp which is my second start up disk.
    What do I DO???
I do manage to get into my OSX partition files through MacDrive, so i'm thinking of reinstalling Leopard.
    My question is:
I want to save my program data and preferences, such as:
Passwords from KeyChain Access (Very Important!), Contacts from AddressBook, Bookmarks from Safari and so on...
How do I do that? Which files do I copy??
    Every help is welcome!!!
    Thanks, Daniel.

OK, so looking through the thread, it's a given that there's a problem with 10.5.7 and the MB Air.
For me, it's back to the problems I was getting after I first bought the machine - a kernel task occupying 150%+ of my CPU without anything much running and a restart being the only way to shift it. Though right now, even having just restarted, I'm still getting bad performance (I can barely type this post).
As it doesn't seem to affect all, I'm curious what the common factors are.
I run a second monitor and it certainly performs better without one. Is anyone else experiencing the performance issues using a second monitor, and does using it without one make it better?
Also, I'm running CoolBook. This sorted out my problems completely last year though shortly before I upgraded to 10.5.7, CoolBook broke and despite uninstalls and clean re-installs it no longer runs.
Is anyone else running CoolBook? Does it run under 10.5.7? Does it solve the problems?

  • Log in loop after update to 10.6.8

Hi, After updating to 10.6.8 on my iMac 27" 2.93 I'm in a login loop. Booting gets as far as the dock appearing then I get a blue screen and am back on the log in screen. Any ideas on how to resolve this? TIA

    Hi ,
i have exactly the same issue.
    iMac 27" , i5 with 12 GB Ram
After the login with the user who has made the update, i get the blue screen and the the system bring back the login screeen.
I tried the shift key tip.
After booting, the system starts up in the safe mode.
After a second attempt to login, i could login.
I got the normal desktop without a dock and a network connection.
I rebooted the system again , and it is the same as before, no login possible ?
Should we do some thing when we logged in with the safe mode ?
    regards
    harry
