Repair my screen questions

I got 2 white spots underneath the screen on the left side and a thing that looks like dust on the bottom right. Theres a pixel flipping out on the left side, and theres also a pixel size white dot on the black edge of the screen ( weird). Also a yellow tint the bottom 1/3 of my screen. Does apple to on site repairs? I fear sending it in, also the closest store is 142Miles away.

I meant does apple *do on site repairs

  • AppleCare Screen Question

    Hello.
I have a question in regards to sending a 13 inch Macbook in for backlight and screen repair. The instructions state to not remove the hard drive to allow the repair team to run a diagnostic test on the machine. This is a problem for me because I use this machine daily for work and it would not be practical to transfer files between machines given the nature of my day to day tasks.
My question is: Will Apple still repair my screen even if I remove the hard drive so I am able to continue my work?

External HDDs are pretty cheap these days; you can grab one and clone your drive (Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!) before you send it off for repair. This will allow you to use your MacBook files on your other Mac(s)--and you can just clone back to the MacBook when it returns from the repair depot.

  • If my iphone 3g screen has smashed and my phone is out of warranty. will apple be able to replace the phone for me or repair the screen?

if my iphone 3g screen has smashed and my phone is out of warranty. will apple be able to replace the phone for me or repair the screen?
i heard apple can upgrade my phone if a pay a specific amount? is this correct?
also if my phone is out of warranty how much would it cost for it to be replaced?

Apple does not repair smashed phones.  It will replace the phone with another iPhone 3G as an out of warranty exchange for 199.00 USD.
You should check with your carrier to see if you are eligible for a subsidized iPhone 4.   It may cost you the same as the out of warranty replacement for a phone almost 3 generations old.

i have an unlock iphone 4s that i buy it not from apple store can and i broke the screen can i repair the screen i apple and how mich is it if yes??

Not covered by warranty. If you make an appointment at an Apple store, you will be offered an out of warranty replacement. Cost is US $199 for an iPhone 4S.

  • I smashed the screen of my iphone 5 earlier and it was bought just before christmas, i was wondering will apple repair the screen for free or swap the phone?

i smashed the screen of my iphone 5 earlier and it was bought just before christmas, i was wondering will apple repair the screen for free or swap the phone? the phone is still working fine, just the screen needs changing by the looks of it.

Why would Apple replace or repair the phone for free? Will a car manufacturer replace or repair the car you drove into a wall for free? If you sit on your spectacles, will the optician give you another pair for free?
You can get an out of warranty replacement phone for $199 in the US, similar price in your local currency.

Completely operational iPhone went into Apple store to repair shattered screen.  IPhone came out with shattered screen and completely inoperable.  What happened or happens in the back room?

Thanks.  That kind of confirms.  I was able to get the phone home and restore it.  The Genius was unable to restore.  Maybe there is a connector problem? Now there is a working phone again, still with a shattered screen.  Any suggestions for what's next?

  • Why don't apple repair iPod screen instead of replacing the whole unit?

I dropped my iPod a while back now and while it was initially superficial damage it's got to the point where 75% of the screen is unreadable and the touchscreen is completely broken.
Why do apple charge £100+ to replace the whole unit when there are other services that can repair the screen for less?

All any of us here can say is "because that's how they decided to handle it". It's not uncommon for manufacturers of small electronic devices to just replace them for a flat fee regardless of the problem, though.
    Regards.

  • What is the cost for repair my screen?

Help! what is the cost for repair my screen?

Back glass repair/replacement is cheaper than front glass. If your handy back glass replacement is fairly easy and repair kits sold on-line are around $25-30. Front glass repair requires pretty much taking the entire iPhone apart and is much more complicated $100-200 depending on your location city and iPhone model.

By third party we mean a place that is not an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Apple Authorized Distributor (AAD) - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1434
I browsed the iFix web site.  Nowhere does it specifically state they are an AASP and usually places that are will make that immediately obvious.  Their FAQ mostly mentions how to set up a franchise and does not  state that repairs made by them will not void any Apple warranty.  Apple is very particular about anybody working on their devices and if they detect somebody else has worked on a device (even if they do a good job) they could refuse to even look at a device again (warranty or not) in their shop.  I'm not passing judgement on other companies, I'm just observing this so the OP knows in advance.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipho ne
"An iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service may be eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service. For example, an iPhone that has failed due to damage or liquid damage is ineligible for warranty service but eligible for OOW service. However, certain damage is ineligible for OOW service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications."
The underlined clause could be interpreted by Apple to be any sign of anybody else having worked on a device.  This isn't just Apple.  If somebody is going to warranty a service then they want to make sure they are not also covering anything that might have been caused by somebody else working on the device previously.

We are users. Apple is not here. Apple does not answer questions here. We have no idea where you are located and don't read minds.
Tell us where you are and maybe we can recommend 3rd party repair shops.

  • White screen, question mark folder flashing

Okay, yes I know there are tons of forms on this, but I haven't been able to get much from them.
My boyfriend has an iMac, one of the original ones. It hasn't been used for a while, so we aren't sure which OS X it is running.
The mac boots up, but comes up to the wonderful white screen with the flashing question mark folder.
We don't have the install disk, and cannot purchase one.
I've removed, cleaned and reinstalled the RAM. I've tried unplugging, holding power for 5 - 10 seconds & restarting, also restarting using CMD/OPT/P/R. All of which haven't gotten me anywhere.
I've read up a bit, being the possibilty the hard drive and screen aren't connected, I've considered taking it apart, but I'd like to save that bit of work for last resort.
I'm currently reading the option of downloading the OS X version it needs and using a USB or external hard drive. Now don't get me wrong, I'm pretty good with computers, but Mac's are out of my realm, so I need some help with this.
I had a standard  "LaCie" external hard drive, and my windows 8 PC.
I'm not sure if the Mac runs PPC or Intel (is there any way to tell, not being able to use the computer?)
What OS X version would I download, doesn't have to be the newest, but the newest version that would be compatiable with both Intel and PPC?
What commands would I use to access and begin the install from the external hard drive?
If anyone can assist with those questions, would be very greatful.
Or if you have any other ideas that might work, I'm open for trying just about anything.
** We do not have an apple store, or authorized seller within a minimum 6 hour drive, so that's out of the question.
** I'm only looking for options of things that I can try. If I run out of options we will be sending it away. I want to try what I can before we get into the costly expenses.

It is hard to make any suggestions without knowing what model the iMac is..?
Look on the bottom of the stand for the EMC and/or serial #.........
see > Where can I locate the EMC Number on my Mac @ EveryMac.com
I'm not sure if this helps, but all Early 2006 thru 2009 Intel iMac models can use the $20 retail Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Upgrade DVD for the purpose of upgrading, testing, repairing, and installing OS X if your original install disc's are missing.
No, your windows formatted LaCie external Hard Drivel will not help you in any way at this point.
Another thing that you might try is the > Apple Hardware Test, because the test resides on the internal hard drive of the early models.
