Repair or no? [Minor cracks]

Hey guys, I was just cleaning my [Nov 07'] Macbook today with a cloth, but when I turn to clean the back, I spotted a crack line inside the lock/unlock battery knob. I was shocked because my Macbook is always on a smooth service of the desk. Should I go to an Apple store or should I wait until some more cracks arise?

Technically, the lower case is not covered by the Apple Care warranty but Apple will replace it if you ask nicely. I know because it's happened to me -- twice.
FWIW: I've had the lower case on my MacBook replaced twice under warranty, plus the wrist rest/keyboard/trackpad replaced once, the inverter board replaced twice, the super drive replaced once and now there's a crack in the bezel around the screen. I'm glad I bought the extended warranty.

you can either take it to Apple or any Apple Authorized repair center and have them give you an estimate.
Or you can go HERE and pick the part you need replaced and have an Apple repair shop change it for you.
If you're Macbook Pro has a valid warranty - i suggest you take it to Apple, spend the $$$ to get it fixed so that it won't interfere with your warranty.

Told me to pick it up. When I gave it to them all components were working. Said because they weren't able to fix it there was no charge. Don't understand this.

Probably when you dropped, kicked, smashed, threw, or whatever you did to break your screen it also damaged the logic board and the connections to the volume button, headphone jack and sleep button. Happens all the time. Apparently the shop you selected to work on it is not very good so take them off your shopping list.
Then go buy a 5th Generation iPod Touch.

We bought a ipod touch in April 2012, and same was dropped by my Child and screen cracked. I took it to Machines service centre in Midvalley North Point KL, Malaysia. They have asked me to pay around RM 380/- to replace the same. The orignal one costed around RM 699. Askind RM 380/- to replace a cracked screen is too much.
All electronic equipments should pass drop test, in which they normally drop the equipement from certain height at certain number of times. Seems Apple ipod does not pass this drop test. At a drop the screen cracked.
Feel, apple should have a simple way to replace the screen then asking for more than 50% of cost price..

the screen costs about $90 from ifixit.com. Or you can send it to someone like missionrepair.com and they'll fix it for about $100. if you google "ipod touch repair" you'll see many many companies that will fix it for you.

hey, apparently my ipod touch 4g screen is cracked. the digitizer still works but the crack makes it hard to read and use the ipod
jut wondering is a repair or replacement for cracked screen under warranty? (i still got the 1 year warranty from apple)

Without AppleCare+, no, not even a free repair. You dropped it, so it's on your dime now. You wouldn't expect free repairs to your car after crashing it into a pole, would you?
Also, note that Apple may not be enthusiastic about repairing it, because a dropped iPad may have other issues beyond a broken screen. Other internal components may have been damaged. Buying a replacement may be the best way of getting back a reliably-functioning iPad. But you could also go with a cheaper repair from a third-party company that will just replace the screen and let you worry about whether or not that repair is sufficient. That kind of repair voids the warranty, but it's already void thanks to the damage anyway.

Crack in LCD, with NO accident. Also, Muras

Apple wants me to pay another 1200 dollars to have the LCD fixed because they say it was due to accidental damage. I closed the laptop at night at my work station as I do EVERY night and in the morning, there appeared to be a minor crack in the bottom left hand side of the screen. I tried to have it repaired under apple care and they claimed it was accidental. It's total ******** because there was no accident whatsoever.
On top of that, Ive only had the laptop for a few months now and it already has little white "muras" popping up all over the screen. Ive read where people are getting their screens replaced because of this. If I try and get the muras fixed are they going to deny me again because of the "accidental" damage?
I am on the verge of suing here, any help would be appreciated.

My brother and I found a white iPod touch 8gb in our river outside our backyard. It was wet and we have tried from drying it off to putting it in rice to soak up the water. We decided to send it to Apple for repair. But before we do, we wanted to find out what we need to pay for. I checked it costs $99 to repair and $79 to replace the battery. We don't know what is the source of problem which is causing the iPod incapable of use. The screen is also cracked. Apple will exchange your 8 GB iPod for a refurbished one for $99. However, then may not because of the extensive damage. If you have an Apple store near by, make an appointment tment at their Genius Bar.

I have a flexible rubber case that increases the width (from front to back) by half a centimeter. This means that when it falls on a flat surface, face-down, the screen should not be hit. Unfortunately, I have learned that the case is NOT shock absorbent and therefore ending up with a cracked LCD (Not front screen). At first, the screen had wide, green bars on the front of it, and then after a while, the lcd did not produce anything altogether.
The drop was about 3-3.5 feet and it landed face-first on a linoleum floor. This happened on a normal school floor. The cracks are a little hard to see, but can be seen within reflection of the screen. All of the cracks are located at the top of the screen, mostly in the top-right corner, near the power button.
The cracks seem to start from the power button to the top of the screen, diagonally, and they are going 40 degrees, estimated. There are two cracks at the top center, and at the top right of the phone, there are seven. The sizes of these cracks range from 4 millimeters to 25 millimeters.
How much is the repair for a Samsung Galaxy S4 LCD screen? Possibly a front screen repair too (Please separate these two prices).
The system works completely fine. I keep getting notifications and it rang when I called it. The battery component seems to be in very good condition and the SIM card is not burned out or anything. The ONLY problem is that nothing will show up, and there are slightly visible cracks on the LCD part of the screen.

I would suggest contacting Samsung directly to find out if they can repair the phone for a fee.
Verizon Wireless doesn't repair phones and the cracked screen (even the digitizer) unfortunately voids the warranty.

Apple products have international service, with the exception of the iphone.
It is, in most countries restricted to the country in which the iphone is sold.
Your situation is certainly a very unpleasant one, but this is the way the warranty on iphone works.

Help!! Data missing after sending it in for repairs.

I sent in my Xperia Z1 for repairs because of a cracked screen. So when I got it back, all the data was missing. I suspect they did a hard factory reset causing all my data to be wiped. Add. info: I sent it to an authorized Sony dealer and I did not have a sd card so all the data was internal memory. Please help me figure a way to retrieve the data! I can't bare losing all those memories.

Strange that they did not intimate you about backing up your data. Contact Sony. Try to go for a Hard recovery option if there is still something left, I dont think you are left with any data.
Also have you given your device under the accidentall cover??

Plastic TouchPad device frame cracks near speaker!!

OK, I've had my precious TouchPad 32 since July 1, and today/tonight, while turning my touchpad in my lap from portrait to landscape, I realized that BOTH of the inside edges of the upper frame of the plastic above the routed-out speaker holes had snapped...and what's intriguing is that the line the crack followed is IDENTICAL in both cracks.
Given my background in product development, it would seem that the TouchPad outer housing was molded and each part was trimmed with the routing that leaves the sharp edges... and that it is a plastic mold "knit line" (where the semi-liquid plastic conforms around two areas to meet) that the snap occurred...
I smell a big problem down the road for HP.
And, btw, HP, I'll need a new TouchPad, cause I sure ain't keepin' this one. Call me.

For these types of cracks, you need to call support or chat. If they're minor/cosmetic you are probably best just to not be concerned with them. However if they are impacting the use of the device, they should be replaced. The agent you talk to should be able to determine this.
Understand, though, the TouchPad is no longer being manufactured. So a replacement will be a refurbished device. And may have the same minor cracks (if yours are minor) as the one you have now.

I am in Canada, my iPhone 3G/8G black has started to develop cracks

I bought my iPhone 3G on the 1st day, and the same day I gave it the protective skin. No drop, no scratch in the past 3 weeks & rarely used the earphone. I found 3 minor cracks very close to the earphone jack yesterday. I went to apple eaton center store this afternoon. They agreed to replace my iphone with a new one; when I examined the new phone, I found a bigger crack at the same place. Apple told me it is the last piece they have in stock, if I like I can take it or get my old one back. With no other choices, I returned with my old phone.
What they called the "new phones" in apple store canada are in white, flat boxes, not in the black boxes as the normal new phones. Here is my point, are they really new pieces? Highly questionable!
