Repaired iMac no longer recognises my iPhone library

Hi all, hope you can help.
My iMac killed its hard rive and has dad it repalced under Apple Care. Now when I plug in my iPhone it says it belongs to a separate iTunes library and the only option it gives me is to re-synch losing everything on my iPhone.
How can I make iTunes recognise my iPhone again?
Cheers
Andrew C

Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to the computer, not plugged into a hub.
If that doesn't do it, try running through this Apple doc -> iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

  • PC no longer recognises my iPhone after trying to update to iOS 5...Help!?!?

When returning from popping out of the house, as the Back UP and Update was taking forever, I came home to find that my iPhone has updated to iOS 5 but failed to Restore itself.  On top of this my PC no longer recognises my iPhone and issues a message 'USB Device Not Recognized'.  Now I have tried several attempts at fixing this, reinstalling iTunes, disabling and re-enabling USB Drives but nothing seems to work.  So I am now left with an empty phone, no contacts nothing, which can't even connect to my PC.
    Any Ideas???????????????????

I had the same problem, I shut down the computer, disconnected it, etc... nothing helped. I went to the Apple store and they fixed it by restoring my phone to factory defaults and then updating. When I got home I connected to Itunes and it synched all my information back to the phone. If you have synched your information to Icloud you have to do it there!

    c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

  • HT1925 My computer no longer recognises my iphone and can't be seen on itunes. My ipod works perfectly on the same computer. rebooting my iphone and PC does not fix the problem.

When I connect my iPhone to my PC it is not recognised and iTunes does not open. When I connect my iPod to the same PC everything works perfectly. I conclude that the problem is not on the PC or with iTunes. Switching off and rebooting the iPhone and the PC does not fix the problem. Any suggestions??

  • ITunes no longer recognises my iphone

    Hi
I wonder if anyone can help.
Until today, my iphone has synced fine with my itunes.
But when I connected it today, instead of itunes recognising it, I heard 3 beeps (flat notes which instinctively signify that something is not right) and my iphone does not appear in itunes and therefore does not sync.
Does anyone have any tips for sorting this?
    Many thanks

Don't know if you got the answer to help but I just had this problem.
On my PC, I had to remove my softwear, Itunes, Quicktime, and all the apple mobil softwear in the control panel. Then I needed to throw the Itune folder away.
Next I needed to do a comple clean install.
But remember to put you collection of music and movies into a differant folder so you could import it after the new install.
Here is the link that helped me, good luck!

  • IPhone 5 running ios7.1.1 is no longer recognised by iTunes on my iMac?

I am running a MacBook Pro and an iMac. I have an iPhone 5. This was running fine until the last update 7.1.1 and not I can't sync or charge from either computer! What's going on? Any solutions?

This seems to have fixed the issue: on your desktop, hold down the [OPT] key and click on "Go" in the menu bar; holding down the [OPT] click on Library, find Preferences, and then delete all the files that start with "com.apple.itunes.XXXX.plist" where the "XXX" is whatever other things may exist - as long as they end in "plist". From my experience, preference files are rebuilt by the system after the next restart, so you have very little worry of losing any important data; the worst that could happen )and NOT in this instance, but for other plist files) is that you may have to reset the application "preferences" again when you next start it up, to act or appear in a "preferred" customized way for you.
Once you delete the .plist files, empty the Trash, and either log out or restart the computer. Once you're back up and operational, start iTunes and your iDevices should reappear in the sidebar (if that's open) and/or at the top of the screen (if that view is enabled).
Hope that helps. It definitely fixed my problem!

I have just updated my iPhone4 via iTunes, but the phone took so long to restart the program no longer recognises it. How can I reinstate the iphone with iTunes?

    Hello Di57
If you are having issues with your iPhone not showing up in iTunes, then check out the article below to resolve the issue. Also check your iPhone to see if a prompt is asking to trust your computer.

  • Tiger, iTunes library on external drive, no longer recognised

Still using Tiger on the iMac.
Software update caem up with iphoto/Pro Apps updates and a security update.
    Duly installed the lot.
When I rebooted my heart sank when iTunes could not find the external drive library.
Rebooted several times, no joy, thought "why do discs fail a few days after you think I need to back that up soon?".
At this point also realsied the significance of telling everyone not to rely on AppleTv for a backup, having not backed up recent weeks iTunes Store purchases.
Tachycardic and nervous connected said drive to the Macbook running Leopard and it worked instantly.
Back to the iMac, no luck, and after much testing found the drive is simply no longer recognised on the Belkin hub it's been on for about a year. Other identical drives are still recognised.
Unplugging the hub and connecting the drive to the Mac direct it's recognised again. Absolutely reproducible and I can't explain it.
Have backed the content up now, but I'm convinced this is related to latest security update or peerhaps Apple team hacking into my iMac after all my negative comments about take 2
So, I know this may be a bit OT, but then again it is to do with the iTunes library foir AppleTV.
    Any similar experiences or suggestions?
Good time to remind everyone - remember to back up your media files - these things always happen out of teh blue.
