Repairing BootCamp 3.1 to install 3.2 update in Win7

If need be,I apologize in advance for posting this question pulled from a previous post of mine, but I think it's a standalone matter.
I recently installed Win7 on a dedicated BootCamp drive. Was having problems w/my apple keyboard F-keys, specifically volume and brightness controls which worked fine w/my previous XP install.
I'm currently  running 3.1.10 32-bit BC and want to upgrade to 3.2 BC.
I've downloaded the 3.2 32-bit BC update but it wouldn't install because ofthe following  2- errors:
Service KeyAgent (KeyAgent) failed to start.
I then pressed "ignore" and got:
Service MacHAL (MacHALDriver) failed to start.
Any advice on correcting, or working around these errors so that I can install the 3.2 BC update?

Are you running an early model Mac Pro (1,1)?
Win 64 is not officially supported by Apple on these. I managed to get the drivers installed by unpacking them, and individually installing the individual pieces.
Later updates let me install over these without trouble.

  • Trying to repair Bootcamp but keyboard not working at installation screen?

Okay so I was a happy little camper, had windows 7 running on bootcamp perfectly and had yosemite installed recently.
Bootcamp was running out of space so I created an exFat partition and that's when the past 24 hours of my life have turned into ****.
Bootcamp would show in system preferences but when I restarted the computer and held alt, it would not show at start up neither directly restarting into bootcamp worked. Finally found a solution for that, did the whole fdisk stuff and fixed the MBPR etc etc. Now bootcamp is present at start up via alt option but once I start I only get a black screen with a blinking cursor. The solution to that I discovered is to repair bootcamp using a bootable usb/cd. Since I'm using a MBP retina 2014, I had to create a bootable usb via bootcamp. Now, when I go to the start up screen and select the win 7 bootable drive, I get to the installation screen to select language but my trackpad/mouse and keyboard are not responding!!! *takes a gun and shoots himself* How do I fix this ? I've been trying to find a solid solution but no luck! please someone help me out

Please, is there any workaround to this problem? I would wish to install arch on my PC.
Maybe installing an older version CD could work, but i am not sure if older versions of arch offer support for ext4...
EDIT: Ok I solved it, it was a very strange option in Bios, called "Installer OS Select", where the options to choose were Windows or Others, and I choose others and voilà!, Keyboard working.
    Strange, right?

  • HT3986 In using bootcamp to partition and install Windows on my computer, the partition step stops and sends me a message that "files cannot be moved" so partitioning is incomplete.  I am stuck. Please help.

In using bootcamp to partition and install Windows on my computer, I keep hitting a snag.  Message says that partitioning can not be completed because files can not be moved.  I have tried several things but nothing seems to be helping to move the process along.  What should I do?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
In most of the cases, that message appears when there's a problem with the filesystem, so you have to repair the disk. This doesn't mean that the hard drive is damaged.
First of all, open  > About this Mac, and check Version. If it's 10.5 or 10.6, insert the Mac OS X DVD of the version you are using and press C key while your Mac is starting. If it's 10.7 or 10.8, press Command and R keys while your Mac is starting. After doing this:
    1. Go to Utilities menu > Disk Utility (if you have 10.5 or 10.6) or open Disk Utility (10.7 and 10.8).
    2. Choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair the disk.
    3. Restart, open Boot Camp Assistant and follow the steps to install Windows on the Mac

  • Bootcamp 5 & Windows 7 install

Hello. I wanted to put this out there after getting terrible phone support from Apple over my bootcamp installation. After my harddrive died and was replaced by AppleCare, I had been attempting to install Windows 7 Home Premium on my iMac for over a week with no luck, and multiple phone calls of worthless advice from AppleCare on the problem and solution. My iMac: mid 2010, 21 inch running 10.8.3 with Bootcamp 5. When installing, I would have no troule partitioning the drive, and it would reboot to windows install disk only to get held up right after selecting Language / Keyboard with the message that a CD / DVD driver was missing and could not be found. I did create a USB drive with drivers from Bootcamp 5, but none of these would satisfy Windows 7.
AppleCare phone support insisted that Windows was NOT looking for a driver on the USB drive and the problem was from other issues: My first install used a DVD burned from an ISO file (obtained from microsoft and burned at slowest speed). They insisted that if I obtained an original instal disk of Windows 7, it would install correctly. So I purchased an OEM version of Windows 7 from Fry's for $99. Attempted install: same message about a missing driver. AppleCare claimed I needed a full version at $199. The AppleCare supervisor GAURANTEED this would be the problem. Fry's would not exchange my disc which was already opened, but informed me they'd be happy to install it, and it should not be a problem. After talking with the Fry's tech team, I attemped another install using the Bootcamp 4 drivers, downloaded from apple, and stored on a USB drive. Bam. Installed NO PROBLEM.
The problem was with Bootcamp 5 drivers (stored on a USB by Bootcamp) did not work on my system for the Windows 7 installation. This despite a number of assurances from Apple that the Bootcamp drivers were not the problem, THIS WAS THE PROBLEM. I wasted a week of my life trying to get Windows 7 reinstalled. Please apple, get your act together and fix this issue, or at least give your customers accurate advice. If nothing else, maybe my message here will save someone else the headache.

Thanks again for the reply CS. Now I do actually have a question or two. This install was a reinstall of windows 7 after getting my iMac's harddrive replaced for Smart errors. And yes, I found the inability (or perhaps just a lack of doing so?) to back up my previous installation of Windows and have it easily restored in Time Machine to be a major PITA. I have been considering getting Parallels, or something similar. If I do, I'm wondering two things:
    1. am I able to use my OEM version (tied to one machine, the same one that it is installed in Bootcamp on)?
    2. Does Windows 7 within Parallels then get backed up in Time Machine, making it easily restorable?
    thank you!
    1. Yes, but you will have to activate one of the two manually (phone call to MS)
    2. Yes, a VM is just another file, can be copied / moved / backed up like any other file.
And even though there was no 3
    3. Parallels would be my last choice of VM, it is the fastest but the least reliable in my experience. From preference I use VirtualBox, and not because it is free, I own Fusion but no longer use it. Try VBox before spending money on another.

  • I just installed the Firefox update in my Dell Studio laptop and now it will not start nor can it effect automatice repairs. What to do?

I had had problems with the Quick time feature that came with Nikon's Picture Project software and had to delete it. (Actually, the operating system deleted it and Picture project when it repaired itself by reverting to a previous configuration.) I noticed that Quick time was again installed when I updated Firefox. Since I can't get the machine up and running, I am at a loss as to how to remove Quick time if that is what needs to be done.

I suggest taking it back to Best Buy. Once it has been opened, Apple will not handle the phone. Best Buy or another 3rd party are your only choices. Best Buy probably made an error when replacing the screen. Understand they are not an authorized Apple Service Center.

  • Just installed OS X updates and can no longer boot into Bootcamp

Just installed the latest updates for OS X Yosemite and now I can't boot to my Bootcamp partition. It doesn't show up in Startup Disks and it's not an option when booting while holding Option. The partition still shows up in Disk Utility but it no longer says BOOTCAMP, it now says disk04s. Is this fixable? I just wrote some data to that partition last night that I really don't want to lose and it hasn't yet been backed up. Thank you.

Serial numnbers are platform specific so you will not be able to use it for the Mac if it was initially designated for a PC.  YOu will need to perform a platform swap.  See the following for information:

  • How to Repair Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2013 once the update rollup or service pack is installed?

    Hello,
I am going through the following Technet article:
Repair Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2013 (
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh699749(v=crm.6).aspx )
The repair option asks for the original CRM DVD media location. The problem is that how the repair procedure knows about the service packs or update rollup files location?
My concern is that the repair procedure replaced the update DLLs (or other files installed by CRM service pack installer) by the RTM files in the original setup DVD.
Is there any special consideration for repairing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2013 once the Service Pack or Update Rollup is installed?

    Hello,
you don't need OS X install-disk, but I strongly recomend to burn a Win 7 disk. You may have some problems with installing it from a USB Flash :)
    Cheers!

  • I tried to install latest OS update. Recd error installing. IT tried to load the upgrade in Safe Mode. Now system will not boot up. IT says I have to do a clean install which loses all data.

After receiving an error when I try to install the latest update of OS-X, I took my laptop to oour schools IT dept. They tried to run the update in safe mode and then they got an error saying the system could not find the hard drive. Now they want to run a clean install which loses 1000's of docs and pictures. I have Block I exams in med school next Monday and all of my notes and slides are on that hard drive.
The IT dept took the hard drive out and tried to back it up and they said they other computer could not connect or find my hard drive.
    Major panic....
I have Norton antivirus and have never found any viruses on the system. I also have a program called ExamSoft which some other students here have noted they had similar crashes. Not sure if that is the issue...

    Several take home messages here:
always back up before you update.
always back up anything you don't want to lose. Kind of like flossing. Only floss the teeth you don't want to lose.
Norton is very, very bad software, and you should get rid of it.
You don't need antivirus software on your mac. Antivirus software on macs causes more trouble than it is worth.
Your hard drive may be failing and thus may not be salvageable.
You could try booting into the recovery partition and seeing if you can repair your hard drive.
If that doesn't work, then there is a small chance that a third party utility (like Disk Warrior or TechTool) might be able to fix your drive (if it is not failing).
If that doesn't work, you may be able to send your drive and a lot of cash to a drive recovery service and see if they can get your files off it.
In the mean time, get notes and slides from a (smart) friend.

  • Is this why I and so many others can't install Photoshop CS6 update 13.0.1.2 (Win)?

I'm well into my third evening trying to figure this one out. Here's what hasn't worked:
    1) downloading and running standalone update patch (not easy to find)
    2) replacing missing language files. I did this by installing Creative Suite CS6 to another computer and then copying missing language files (bloat) to my PS CS6 folder.
    3) trying to reinstall Photoshop from my DVD - nope, it's an all or nothing proposition - would have needed to return everything to initial release state - no Repair available
    4) following various 'expert' threads that for the most part are shots in the dark or from-some-script replies by outsourced support people, many of whom can't spell
    5) researching ambiguous advice... do I reinstall, uninstall/reinstall, or run CS6 cleanup utility before uninstall/reinstall - what would be collateral damage for trying any of these.
OK, I knew I was fighting badly written installer problems. I remember very well the many evenings I wasted trying to get CS4 Creative Suite installed. In fact it was I who figured out what was broken and passed along the solution to a Senior Tech rep at Adobe.
Anyway, here's what I found at the end of a very long failed installation log file:

Check out the 1st, 2nd and 4th lines. Why does the brain dead installer think my CS6 is a subscription. It was purchased as a permanent license and remained so until this CC abomination began to enforce totally wrong assumptions. I have subscribed to CC for the new features, not to cripple licenses I already paid for.
I found these contradictory lines in the middle of this file:
    05/15/13 02:16:01:157 | [INFO] |  | UPDATER | CORE |  |  |  | 53920 | CFU(Webfeed): Patch is meant only for subscription licenses, but client doesn't have a valid subscription license.

Could it be that my having installed CS6 to the D:\ drive is the culprit? I didn't have that option with CC
This cryptic mess seems to be the concatenation of several logs with Adobe's assorted rationales for failure to work. I wonder if anyone is left in the free support pool who understands these cryptic logs. If there's anyone does, here it is in its entirety:

hello there.  You have probably already fixed whatever it was that was interfering, and I admit I didn't read all of the info that followed your post, but I have run into a few files that seem to be suspicious that could be part of the problem.  I was getting all sorts of weird issues from my new cloud subscriptions, and I eventually began to wonder if I had been infected with some sort of malware or virus.  I still don't know, but I came across a weird file path that contained MANY strange files.  One of them was Adobe Application Manager (Updater).exe, and I THINK, I am not sure, that this could be a file that is causing problems (as well as some of the other within that path address.  On my computer it is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\ (for the file mentioned above it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\UWA.  I have this program that I use called PEStudio that allows me to view the contents of executables without actually running or opening them.  I have found this to be a very useful, and free, tool for researching malicious files.  When I opened the file I mentioned, there was a treasure trove of suspicious "strings" as well as others.  It actually identifies some of the strings as "blacklisted" so that you can view those strings first.  It also runs blacklists on other parts of the files so it has proved to be very useful (even if you aren't a techie per se).
Anyway, I hope this helps if you are still having trouble.

  • Unable to install Lion Recovery Update v1.0 on Mac OS 10.8.2

Hi to anyone who can help,
As the "Find My Mac" option is greyed out, I followed all the instructions on the support forums on how to get this feature, such as Verify/Repair Machintosh HD using Disk Ultilty from the Recovery partition.
Subsequently I tried to install Lion Recovery Update v1.0 from the Apple Support link below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1464
However, while attempting to install, it says "This update can only be installed on OS 10.7". How do I get this fixed?
Some background info, my MacBook Pro 15" (early 2011) had a replacement Hard Disk Drive and Logic Board.
    1. The replacement drive had 10.7.4 installed, and I used the recovery partition to restore to a Time Machine Backup (which was 10.8.2).
    2. Do I need to "download" the Mountain Lion package in the app store again? I see it as an available to download instead of saying "Installed".

Exit Code 6 is a generic error that indicates that the installation was not successful.
Have a look at the following document: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/errors-exit-code-6-exit.html
A quick look at the error log, indicates a permission issues. Are you logged in with an Administrator account and have sufficient privileges to install software?

  • I've installed a system update as requested, 10.6.7 but mail is not working now.

I've installed a system update yesterday as requested, all software works fine, except Mail - I get the following message You have mail version 4.5 (1084/1082), it cant be used on Max OSX Version 10.6.7 (Build 10J869).  I've done a complete reinstall of my imac too, but this has not cleared the problem.
    Please help

    Please do this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and quit the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Upon satisfactory completion boot from your Snow Leopard DVD and resinstall Snow Leopard. Upon completion you may wish to update it to Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
