every time I repair my iPod with iTunes, it hangs at the end of the process (while checkin the recovery of iPod). What can I do?

I chose to restore it to factory defaults, but that never succeeded.
It hangs at the end of the process.

    Language is Dutch :-)
    Littery it says:
    Check of Recovery of iPod.
    Already for 40 minutes.
    I closed down iTunes.
Now, when I turn on my iPod, there is the icon of iTunes with an usb cable towards it.
When I attach it to my computer and turn on iTunes, the message is there that a iPod was stuck in recovery mode and I should retry it.
And then I get the same story. Unpacking, installing, checking... blocked!

  • Repair costs ipod touch 4g

i have an ipod touch 4g and i dropped it, the whole screen cracked and also the volume buttons power buttons, wi fi would not pick up, so i ordered a new digitizer and when i opened it up the ipod the copper connector appeared to have ripped, how much would it cost to repair?

You'll need to contact an independent iPod repair service and ask. Apple will not repair your iPod - they don't repair defective iPods, they replace them for a flat fee. And since you've taken yours apart, they may well refuse to touch it at this point, though you can ask at an Apple Store if you wish. Apple's replacement charges can be found here:

  • Will apple repair my ipod classic 80g with video?

I got my ipod classic 80g in 2006.  I used it for a couple years and was very satisfied.  It was in a backpack that was tossed carelessly, and then stopped working.  The screen does not display anything except for some black lines.  The physical casing is not broken however.  When I plug it into a computer, I can hear the harddrive spinning, but itunes won't recognize it, and it won't show up as a device on my computer.  I have waited so long to inquire about a repair because I have replaced it a couple of times with other ipods.  I would really like to have this one repaired as I don't have an ipod curretently. And, instead of buying a new ipod classic, I would like to have this one repaired.  I read that it would cost $129 to repair this ipod.
I would like to know however, if I spend $129 will apple repair my ipod for sure?  If it is deemed unrepairable, will I get a replacement?  Or will they refund my money?
Thanks for reading and giving your time.
    -Madison Albert

Apple doesn't actually repair iPod, but does an out of warranty exchange of it for a refurbished model of the same generation and capacity.
And it will cost $129 according to this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&viewlocale=en_US&geo=United_St ates&product=ipod&select=REPAIR_PRICING

  • Apple refuses to repair my iPod classic under warranty

We are a total Apple family who CURRENTLY own 5 Macbook Pro's, one iPad, one desktop Mac, three iPod classics, three iPods and 6 iPhones. Not to mention all of the Apple products we have owned in the past. How much more can we support your product?  We have never had a dispute with Apple over service, but the decision to refuse to repair my ipod under warranty because of damage or misuse is absolutely inaccurate. What is my recourse for disputing this decision?

First of all, you are not talking to Apple here, this is a user-to-user forum.
Warranty is there to protect you from failures in the manufacturing process. It is not there to pay for problems you cause or create, even if it was accidental.
If Apple have determined that the fault with your iPod is due to misuse, or damage, by someone who had access to the iPod after they sold it to you, and not due to a fault in the manufacturing process, I'm not sure there's anything you can do. I supose you could contact Apple again, appealing their decision, but I wouldn't hold out much hope of that resolving the issue, because these things are usually clear cut.
It's not in Apple's interests to refuse you warranty if their product was not up to their own standard, so that suggests that their diagnosis was accurate.

  • Will Apple repair an ipod that was repaired by someone else before?

The screened was cracked and I had it replaced, but the home button stopped working.  After replacing that the camera and speaker stopped working.  Will apple repair the ipod?

    No

  • Repairing Your iPod Nano(4th Generation)

I recently called Apple to set up a repair on my brand new iPod 4th Generation Nano iPod. I never experienced this problem, and I own all of Apple iPods with the exception of the 2nd Generation shuffle.
You see, I had synced the iPod using iTunes 8.01, but when it finished, and I pressed the Disconnect key within iTunes, something different happened. The iPod entry was removed on iTunes which is normal, BUT, when I disconnected the cable from my MacBook Pro thinking I was done, the iPod displayed a message warning me to disconnect before removing the iPod from the MacBook Pro. This was new. With all the other iPods, this should have been easy. But it wasn't "easy" because not only could I not remove the message, I couldn't turn the iPod off!
Holding down the play/pause key didn't work, plugging into the power plug didn't work; No, this baby wasn't turning off any time soon. If I was to send it it for repair, I would have to do so with the iPod being on, and I felt that was dangerous.
I also wasn't able to shut down the iTunes application either because Quit didn't work; not even Force Quit! I would have to shutdown the MacBook Pro the hard way in order to do that, and so I held down the power button until the MacBook Pro physically shut off. I then contacted iMac Support, but they felt it was an iPod issue, and of course the iPod rep I spoke to suggested that I call MacBook Pro Support; gee, I hadn't seen finger pointing like that since Bell Telephone and Leased line companies pointed their fingers in opposite directions!
That gave me an idea. Why keep the iPod plugged in to the power source to keep the battery from complete discharge? Why not just let the iPod die/turn off? It would be safer to ship back to Apple, and I might just be able to remove its memory, just like I did with the notebook.
Sure enough, the next morning while getting my morning wake-up coffee, I had to turn on a light to see what I was doing. That's right! I quickly ran over to the iPod and it was off. What would happen when I turned it back on? Was it completely dead? Was the battery ruined?
The screen had a message with a yellow triangle and in small print, a note stating that I had to plug it in to a power source for it to recharge the battery. About four hours later, I took a break and when I glanced at the iPod, there was nothing on the screen. But that was because it timed out but when I pressed the Menu button, low and behold, the iPod was restored, including the two albums I had purchased the day before when I synched the unit!
The doorbell rang and by the timeI went to answer, the DHL Ghost had already left in a cloud of exhaust fumes and a box was laying on the door mat face down. Apple had already sent me the packing items to return the iPod.
But the battery was recharged and the music back on, so I signed on to Apple's support page, you know, to let them know I no longer needed the repair. But after about ten minutes, I wasn't able to find a single place on the support website (maybe I was still needing coffee) to cancel a repair. That's strange. I would think Apple would absolutely love to know about less work for them!
Maybe that's the third lesson I learned. Never ASSUME anything (you know, because you would make an *** out of ME and U). I would have to write this article to maybe help some others, to let Apple know about a need to allow customers to cancel repairs, and maybe even help me if this ever happens again! The jury is still out.

You could try taking it to a Mac store and see what they have to say, but it might just be dead.

  • Is there a way to repair my ipod touch from water damage

i need to know if i can get my ipod touch fix from water damage

First, have you tried drying the iPod like shown here:

    That works sometimes.
Apple will exchange yours for a refurbished one for a fixed price.  That price is:

A third-party place may be less expensive.  Here is one.  Google for more:

  • Where can I find a place to repair my iPod 5G LCD?

Will Apple store be able to repair or replace my scratched LCD screen?

    jade,
If it is only scratched, you can probably fix it yourself for a few bucks. Brasso is available from most discount stores like Walmart and Target for 4-5 dollars. There are others that can be ordered online like Displex and Ice Creme.
I haven't used any of them because none of our iPods have gotten more than a couple minor scratches.
Do a search in these forums for those product names to read people's experience with all three.
If none of them work on the scratches you have, the LCD can be replaced for about $169 by techrestore.com or ipodresq.com.
