Repeat every hour

How can I set evet in my iCal to repeat evey hour???
Because there's an alarm that's activates automator action and it has repeat that same event with alarm every hour!
I can only chose "every day, week, month..."
Thanks!

you cannot, you would have to manually create an event for each hour on the same day, then for each event, in edit mode choose the repeat option you would want if repeat is also needed by day/week/month.
hope this helps

    Hi,
We have rolled out a fix for this issue.
Please log off and log back in to your machine and the issue should be resolved automatically. In case that does not work, please manually run the msi installer posted here (may require reboot).
For details, please refer to the KB article here: Multiple RunOnce keys created 11.0.10 and 10.1.13 Acrobat | Reader
Please let us know if you still face any issues.

  • ICal event reminder bug causes alarm to be repeated every hour

    Hi,
I'm running 10.7.3 on an iMac.
In the last fortnight (nothing with the OS or settings has been changed) the iCal event reminders incorrectly trigger every hour for the same event. This is occuring for every event reminder, even if the settings are for a single alarm or email the day before. To make things worse I've had to delete the events with one-off email notifications as my inbox was getting full!
The events themselves are not duplicated, and the alarms not set to be recurring.
I have an icloud calendar, two exchange calendars, and two calendars all being sync'd between my iMac, two macbook pro's, and iPhone and iPad. Have had these all set for ages with no problems.
I've called apple support enough times in the past to have already checked the system privilages but unfortunately this has not resolved the problem.
I would turn off all the event alarms but a few of the calendars are shared across different sites and keep us all on the same page (occasionally also the events have been created by others).
    Suggestions would be much appreciated
    Isaac

Totally missed it, duh! Thanks. Will try again.

I have several recuring alarms set up on iCal for each day of the week. In the past few weeks, an alarm will occasionaly notify me roughly 15 minutes to an hour and a half late. These daily alarms are identical and repeat every day and there seems to be no apparent pattern to why or when an alarm happens after the event is past.

I assume you meant iCal rather than iTunes? Yes, iCal the time zone is correct. The delayed alarms only happen sporadically. Since I posted this message, the problem stopped happening every day at the same time, but it still happens occasionally with no rhyme or reason as to when. It's gotten so that I can't depend on my iCal alarms anymore.

  • How to repeat event every hour never end?

How to repeat an event every hour and never end?
Am I crazy for doing this? Well Harvard Business School wrote an excellent article about time management. 1. Make list in the morning. 2. Refocus every hour. 3. Review list at end of day. It's been working great when I'm alerted every hour.
I want to make an event in iCal that goes on indefinitely and alerts me every hour. I have not been able to get this to work. I can make it work for one day but it stops after one day even when I have it set to go from today to a year from now. I also have it set to repeat "Everyday" and end "Never".
There seems to be some sort of bug because I set 24 alarms in sequence (12AM, 1AM, 2AM, 3AM etc...) but the hours have all become mixed up. It's now (3PM, 2PM. 8AM, 11AM...?).
    Mac OS X version 10.5.7, Build 9J61

I will give your suggested a try. It might work splitting it up, but I would like it for at least all waking hours. Here's what I'm trying to do:
    http://blogs.harvardbusiness.org/bregman/2009/07/an-18minute-plan-for-managing.h tml?cmmmc=npv-_-WEEKLY_HOTLIST-_-JUL_2009--HOTLIST0727
In actuality, if I go to Walmart and replace my (long since past) Casio watch that can be set to beep every hour I'll likely have my solution. But also I like the visual reminder to Refocus that I could get from iCal. Thanks

  • Repeat a task Time lapse style every hour

Hi with the image captures ability to take pictures using your camera I thought it would be cool to implement it with ical to take pictures at set repeated intervals. So my question is does anyone know if it is possible to set an automator script that is able to repeat its self to a set time, say every hour. As yet I can't find a way but I might be missing something obvious.

    Good, glad it worked.
If you want a bit more precision for timings then you can use CronniX...http://www.abstracture.de/projects-en/cronnix
Just save your workflow as an Application and then add it into CronniX.

  • How do I set a reminder to repeat every 2 months in Reminders program?

How do I set a reminder to repeat every 2 months in Reminders program? The program allows you to set a reminder to repeat every 2 weeks, but it doesn't allow give you much freedom if you want to set it to repeat, every 2 months or every 3 months, or every few days, etc.
Can someone advise how I can set up a reminder (To Do) to repeat every 2 months?
    Thanks,

unfortunately you can only use the predetermined time lenght's in the reminder app (hour, day, week ,month ,year) and so on. You could either set it to remind you monthly or you could set it up as an event in your calendar as it is a bit more customizable on time

  • Why is the purge command running every hour, and freezing my system?

I noticed over the past several days that my mac pro will freeze for several seconds (clock stops, mouse/keyboard don't work. completely frozen) every hour, to the minute.
I've tracked it down to the "purge" command, which is causing the problem.  But, I can't find where it's being called.  Any hints where I might look to find the cause?
I don't believe this was happening a few days ago. I have installed all software updates.
    I'm running 10.7.5 on a 2x2.66Ghz 6-core mac pro.
    Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered. You can do that by copying and pasting as well. Omit the final line ending in “$”. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. It won't be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Alarm set to go off every hour of the day, how do I do this?

I want to have a reminder/alarm every hour of the day once it hits the new hour mark, how do I do this? I went into clock and it lets me set an alarm but my only repeat option are the same time every day, not the same alarm every hour at the top of the hour.

I can but it would be easier to just add a reminder that lets you have an alarm every hour, maybe we'll get this in the new update today

  • Time Machine window appears every hour

Every hour a pop-up window appears on my iMac as follows:
<Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “Time Machine - 2 TB”.
<The backup disk ran out of space unexpectedly. Time Machine will try to make <more space available by removing expired backups during the next scheduled <backup.
<Open Time Machine preferences to select a larger backup disk or make the backup <smaller by excluding files.
However, Time Machine does not remove expired backups.  It repeats this message every hour.
This did not happen before I upgraded to Mountain Lion from Safari.
    How do I fix this?

Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Time Capsule backs up every hours and takes 1/2 to back up, it slows down all funtions on computer to a crawl.

I have the time capsule with the ethernet cord running from it, this is the way my husband set it up. In the last month, when time machine backs up it takes forever and then repeats itself every hour. I can't get anything done because it slows everything down, or I am unable to open applications. I read in discussions what to do and have not had any luck. I checked my speeds: download 10.58pbps and upload 4.85 mpbs. My husband pays for preminum cable for fast service. I don't know how to fix this issue, or perhaps I don't know how to ask the right question. Can anyone help?

    This is a hard one..
With Time Machine turned off, what speed do you get using a speed test service to the internet?
Remove the TC and connect directly to the cable modem and check the speed.. if the TC is slow as a router, then there is some issue.
I see you are on SL.. did you update the firmware on the TC to 7.6.x recently..
There does seem to be some bugs in the latest firmware for some people. I would downgrade the firmware back to 7.5.2. I would also check if the TC isn't almost full. That hugely slows things down.
Do a full factory reset and redo the setup.
Otherwise I think it can be worth getting a different wireless router, and simply bridge the TC to use for backup only.. I think that is what I would do in your situation.

  • What is the cause of my MBP coming out of sleep to sound a long low tone and repeat every 5 to 7 seconds?

I put my MBP to sleep with: Paralells, Safari, Sophos, LittleSnitch and smcFanControl running as they are suppose too.
Two hours later I went to wake my MBP and I get a long low tone and repeat it was repeating every 5 to 7 seconds. I had to do a hard power down in order to reboot or get any type of response from the MBP...
Does anyone have any ideas of what this is. This machine is not even 30 days old yet & I am a new comer to the world of MBP's.

Thank you all for the input regarding grounding. This was the problem, but not from a power outlet. The Sure 8900 microphone is has a 3-prong "balanced" connector at the microphone, but then is adapted to 1/8 inch connector so that it will fit the "mic" input jack on the iMac. The result - a conversion of a balanced to unbalanced signal. After describing this to a technician a a local electronics store, he immediately said "You can't go from a balanced to an unbalanced input and not have grounding noise. The reason: one channel shares the ground - allowing the AC clipping to occur.
Solution: The 8900 mic comes with a 1/4 inch adapter making the mic "balanced" if connected. Put the 1/4 inch input over the 1/8 inch input, PLUG THIS INTO A USB mixer and into the USB port- problem solved - no more buzzing AND BETTER RECORDING QUALITY!!!

  • OSX now crashes every hour. OSX apps like Dock, desktops, launchpad, finder, toolbar, etc become unresponsive, although sometimes non OSX apps (like Chrome, TextMate, etc) remain functioning briefly. No obvious reason or trigger

OSX now crashes every hour. For no obvious reason or trigger, suddenly OSX apps like Dock, desktops, launchpad, finder, toolbar, etc become unresponsive, although sometimes non OSX apps (like Chrome, TextMate, etc) remain functioning briefly, before the whole thing hangs and needs a hard reboot.
It is not apparent what I do to provoke the crash -- it happens while I am in seemingly any application, sometimes just reading a page and not taking any actions.
This started happening very suddenly two days ago. It might have happened around the time I updated ITunes but I'm not sure of this at all. And I never use ITunes or have it open.
Don't know how to diagnose the problem since nothing is accessible whence it freezes up on me.  I tried software update, but problem continued after. Would appreciate troubleshooting advice. Thanks!

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Why does iPhone continuously use 3G/data every hour, despite "everything" is turned off?

Every hour, one to several times an hour, the phone uses 0.1 to 20kb with 3G / GPRS. And this despite the fact that the following is off:
    - WiFi
    - Notifications
    - Locations
    - Push
Someone who can explain to me what/why the phone uses the GPRS for? I have unlimited GRPS included from my cellphone operator (NetCom in Norway), so this is no worries. However when I travel abroad, this can get expensive.
I know I just can turn of 3G, but I would still like to know why the continuos use of GRPS happens. In case it's an app or setting I haven't done anything with.
Just in case: no app is running :-)
Have looked online and there are many who have an opinion, but do not know. I'm looking for an answer, not what people think the the answer is :-)

Still trying to figure this out.  Really trying to avoid having another iCloud for my next iPad. Can anyone confirm if the iPhone is storing a lot of OS files in iCloud?  If you're backing up your iPhone to iCloud, what is your storage size?

  • My firefox stops responding and fades for about a half min almost every hour, OR MORE often

My firefox stops responding and fades for about a half min almost every hour, OR MORE often.
I am typing a message or information, the screen fades to about half bright. the curser freezes in place and no key responds.
The information bar at the top of the page says "firefox not responding" in about 30 seconds it restores and continues as tho nothing happens.

I might have discovered the solution without starting over with all your places and bookmarks.
Right after i installed 7.0.1 over a week ago, every 10-30 min When i would be watching videos online, it would freeze for 20-30 seconds. Firefox would say ( Not responding) both firefox and the plugin container process would be very large memory files. I tried to go back to Firefox 5.0. No avail it would still freeze.I tried to disable the plugin container . no good. I tried to adjust memory or cache or plugin settings in “about:config”.Nothing fixed it!
I finally discovered why my Firefox 7.01 was periodic hanging fix. It is something to do with some of your personal files. download this this add on and install it
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
or you can Google "places maintenance Firefox"
After you install the add on, restart Firefox.go to "tools", then "add ons" and then click “extensions” tab ,then click' options" on the "places maintenance" entry. choose "ALL' or just "expire" and hit "execute", then wait until its done., restart Firefox. should be fine then and all my bookmarks, customizations ,settings, and history stays untouched!
After i did this my Firefox did not freeze once for over 3 days straight. Might not work for everyone. I already read that Mozilla is aware of the problem and are working on a fix it in the full version of 8( the 8 beta did not fix the problem for me) . But they said this is a good temporary fix at least,( might be permanent)
For me at least ,Firefox works fine in 7 now. perfect actually. And many people i saw on similar forums had similar problems.
    Enjoy. Hope this helped
