    Hey lightc,
If you are having an issue with iTunes not recognizing your iPad and iPod on your Windows computer, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • When playing songs in iTunes playlist, How do you keep the next song from jumping to next song? I am working on song list updating other tracks info and then the next song starts and I lose my spot in song list?

When playing songs in iTunes playlist, How do you keep the next song from jumping to next song? I am working on song list updating other tracks info and then the next song starts and I lose my spot in song list?

I had a similar problem: I wanted to synch my playlist to my iphone. I like to have my playlist sorted by genre. But under each genre, albums are not sorted by the track numbers. This is a problem, especially when I am listening to club mixes when the DJ smoothly transitions from 1 track sequentially to the next one. Under the properties of each audio file, the Track Numbers and Disc Numbers are already there.
My perfect solution was to turn On Sorting - Sort Album under View>Show View Options. Then, select all the songs in that album (Shift click, Cmd click, etc) , and Edit multiple item information (Cmd I). You will see Info-Video-Sorting-Options buttons. Click on Sorting. Then, under Sort Album, Enter the name of the album. Then OK.
You should now have the playlist sorted by Genre, then each album individually sorted by track numbers. On your playlist you should see, if you scroll right, the column added called "Sort Album".
    Hope this helps.

  • Quick Question About Repeating Songs Within A Playlist

Here's the situation: I have 45 songs in one playlist and would like to hear 5 of the 45 songs being played more often than the other 40 songs. Is there a way for me to do that? I tried rating the songs, but it repeated ALL of the songs and not the 5 songs I wish.
Thanks for your time in advance.

At one point, I think, desktop iTunes used to have a checkbox for playing higher-rated songs more often when in shuffle mode, but can't find it now. I don't think that ever existed on iOS devices.
You could make a request for such function here:

  • How do I turn off repeating songs in itunes?

While listening to a playlist in itunes, I noticed that there was an icon to select where I could repeat a song track.  -I selected it for that particular playlist, but now when I go back to that playlist, or an album, or a song I don't see that same icon.  Plus now when I listen to an album on my iphone it just keeps repeating the same song in the album over and over.  Super annoying!  I see the icon for shuffle and can select that, but it doesn't change anything.  Songs just keep repeating -no matter what playlist I'm on or album.  I've tried to sync my phone again to see if this would change anything, but no luck!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
And, how do I get the repeat and shuffle icons to show up with each song track or album?
    -Julianna

From the now playing screen, bring up the scrubber bar(tap the screen):
A small icon that looks like two circular arrows is on the left side below the scrubbing bar. Tap this icon once to repeat the album. The icon will turn blue when repeat is activated. Tap the icon again to repeat the current song. The icon will change to show the number 1 inside a blue circle. Touch the icon a third time to cancel any repeat. The icon will turn white when it's deactivated.

  • Get rid of duplicated songs in iTunes playlists

Ive downloaded loads of songs in my iPod playlist and now im planning to transfer all of em to my PC.I figured out how to transfer songs but now i have another problem.Apparantly when u update songs in a playlist in iPod, if u add same files to the playlist more than once, they will be added once to the iPod itself and it wont update the same song more than once. However, in the playlist it will show it more than once and so u can have duplicated (or more!) songs in the playlist. I want to see the playlist without duplicated songs so that i could download ONLY the songs in my playlist to my PC and not all of them.
has neone got a clue how to do that!?
    tnx

You cannot edit the playlist while it is on the iPod.
You have to edit the plalist in iTunes and then resync it to the iPod.

  • Playlist on ipod doesn't add all the songs from itunes playlist.

I made a playlist on itunes and then synced my ipod and not all the songs are on the playlist. They're on my ipod just not on the playlist. I don't have iTunes Match and I've tried pretty much everything. I bought all the songs either with CDs or through itunes. It's annoying all the songs are on my itunes playlist and then they're not all on my ipod playlist. I have 1000+ songs on my playlist and I hate having to find what songs are missing. Is there a way to fix this. I even reset my ipod and did it again and it still dose it. Regardless if it's on manual of not. :( someone please help me fix this. I have the iPod touch 5th gen

Ok, I deleted the two files and upon startup iTunes did run that search wizard for music files. However, it only found 4 songs that are located on local harddisks, and did not (as far as I could see on the network status) even try to search on the network harddisk.
One more thing though, that I forgot to mention before. I tried to solve this situation by installing an earlier version of iTunes... 4.6 i think, but when I tried to run the program it told me something like "Cannot read the file iTunes library.itl since it was created by a later version of iTunes". Where can i find that file, and should i remove it and try to add the songs with iTunes 4.6 instead?
(Thanks so much for all your help!)

    Eject the device.
    Close and relaunch iTunes.
If the problem continues, restart the computer and the device.

  • Suddenly can't move songs in itunes playlists

I've been using iTunes ever since it came out and I use it all the time. Suddenly today I can't move songs around in my playlists. I tried making a new playlist and moving songs from the library into it and even that doesn't work (I can't actually move a song from my music library into any playlist any more)
I've checked through all the other threads where people have had this problem and done everything suggested but nothing is working.
I do have the playlist number arrow highlighted
I do have manual ordering turned on in the view options
I've logged out and restarted several times
    I have shuffle turned off
The only possible thing I can think of is that I got an invitation to upgrade to iTunes 11.4 which I said I would download, but although I've been taken into the app store, nothing is showing. Could it be something to do with iTunes 11.4 or the app store?

Ahhh!!! I closed down for a few hours and now it's working fine!

  • Cannot sync song from iTunes playlist to iPod Classic

I haven't been able to sync a song from one of my playlists in iTunes to my iPod ever since I've updated from earlier programs. The song was added to the playlist manually, but that never mattered before. If I can't clear this up I'm afraid my iPod is useless!

You could try creating a new playlist from that one. Select the complete Playlist and then select New Playlist from selection. In my screenshot, I right-clicked to get this pop-up menu, your iTunes may look slightly different, but the choice will be there somewhere (try the + icon in the bottom left of the iTunes window).
Once you have created the new Playlist, try Syncing that to your iPod. If only that song is missing, that suggests there is something wrong with the song that prevents it going onto your iPod. But if the complete (new) Playlist fails to transfer, then that suggests that something is wrong with your Sync preferences.

  • Can't import songs into itunes playlist folders from itunes music folder

Ive got to be an idiot. ive had my ipod for years and ive yet to figure this out:
how do i put music into my playlist folders? The only playlists ive been able to successfully create and use are the ones ON my ipod. but that requires me to plug in my ipod every time i want to hear music at home.
I've created the playlist folders. They are blue folders, found under the playlists tab on itunes. I select music from the music sections, and drag to the folder, but all i ever get is the Circle and line "No" symbol, i never get a plus sign. Ive ever tried popping the playlist folder into a new window and dragging from one window to the other, and its doesn't work. its there some ridiculous safety feature of iTunes that i need to turn off to make playlists or? I can't imagine that something would be this confusing, but i just don't get it.

    Welcome to AD!
Sounds like you are trying to drag single music files into a playlist folder.
You can only drag a pre-existing playlist into a playlist folder.

  • More songs on iTunes playlist than on iPod - why?

Hiya everyone. Just wondered if anyone else has this problem - when I view my entire library on iTunes, it says I have a total of 2042 songs, but even after updating my iPod only has 2000. Where did my extra 42 songs go, and why haven't they been added to my iPod? I did check the whole list for missing files, and that's sorted out 4 of them, but the rest still won't transfer.
I have a 5th generation/video iPod, the 60GB model, and the latest version of iTunes.

As I said in my previous post, I got frustrated and I decided this wasn't going to mess with me any longer.
First of all, make sure you back up your whole library. I've got mine on an external disk.
Launch iTunes, connect iPod. When it gets in the list on the left, click on your pod. You'll get this summary screen in the right screen. In the Options section you'll have 4 different things. One of them being "manually manage music and videos". This one was ticked in my case. I unticked it. I got a message saying something that it would change my settings or so. I clicked yes or whatever it said. Next it told me that my iPod and library didn't match. That if I clicked continue, the contents of my iPod would be erased and replaced with the library on my computer. I clicked continue. Now it seems to be adding all the music that I bought, but still I'm about 100 songs short (but those all have the ! in front of them... whatever that means).
Oh, be prepared for it to take some time to do the erasing and reinstalling. While it erases your iPod, make sure you close down all other applications, because your puter will go in lock-down. Once it starts adding to your iPod you can do other things again.
I hope this will help someone out there!
    Cheers, Sweetpea16

  • How to arrange songs in iTunes

    Hello Everyone,
it have come to my notice for awhile that we are no longer able to arrange the order of our songs in iTunes playlist and could only sort it out by Artist names, Genre etc. Is there any solution out there I'm unaware of which could address this issue?
Secondly, i happen to realise that there is a bug when we tried to arrange the order of our songs in iTunes in iPhone, it would just mess up the whole playlist the moment we click "Done" is anyone experiencing this too?

You have tried clicking on the top of the column at the left?  I don't have a new iTunes but from reading other posts it should still be the way it always has been.

  • ITunes keep repeating a song in my playlist.  The repeat icon is no longer on the upper right hand side

iTunes keep repeating a song in my playlist on my iphone (4 I thnk).  The repeat icon is no longer on the upper right hand sideiTunes keep repeating a song in my playlist.  The repeat icon is no longer on the upper right hand side

I looked under file but I couldn't find the "Genius & Playlist" option. I also looked under the other options on the top left side but I couldn't find it there either. And all "Genius suggestions" does for me is show similar songs already purchased in my library. It doesn't show me anything new that I haven't purchased.
