Repeat Updates from App Store?

About a day after I have updated an app using App Store I am notified the app needs updating again. So I do it. I am using OS 10.8.2. Does anyone else experience this? Any advice about what to do about it?

The update badge is saying I need a update, even though I've already updated. Then I just update again, and the update notification doesn't recur. This has happened about six times over the last few weeks. No big deal, but I am leery of unnecessary mods to my apps.
The apps were updated the first time. Under the circumstances I don't see the need for me to uninstall and reinstall, but I do appreciate the advice. Thanks.

How do I remove a secondary Apple ID that is not in use from my MacBook pro? The ID does not belong to me and when I attempt to download updates from App Store with my Apple ID, I am prompted for the password of the secondary Apple ID.

Is this a second hand Mac? If so, you need to erase the Mac and install the version of OS X that shipped installed on the Mac from the factory. Then you set the Mac up as new with your Apple ID.

If you have any questions about your account in particular rather than questions about why something is the way it is, it would be better to contact itunes support at expresslane.apple.com than to talk to us about it. we can't tell you specific information about your account, only how things work in general

  • Unable to update from apps store

After downloading Yosemite I can not update from apps store. This is the prompt I get:
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
Now Apple doesn't recognize the serial number of my iMac.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

when downloading an update from app store, password is requested from a different user.  How to change user?

Unfortunately there's no way around this.  you will need that password to update the apps. If he won't give it to you, then i'm not sure what to say.
You should have kept the account with the Apps you bought yourself.
Otherwise, as I said, delete the Apps, and buy them again.
    Sorry.

  • Changing apple ID to update from Apps Store.

Trying to update my apps from App Store.  When asked to sign in, another  apple ID comes up (ID belongs to a person who borrowed my Mac).  It is greyed out and will not let me change it.  How do I change it?

The app that this person's Apple ID appears for is their app. You cannot update their app with your Apple ID. Having their app on your Mac is software piracy. Delete the app and buy it with your own Apple ID.

  • TS1702 cannot update from app store

    Hi
I have 2 updates in app store and i can't updated.

  • Mac will not update latest update from App Store

I have repeatedly tried to update from 10.10.2 to 10.10.3 because it is recommended through the App Store, yet every time I click update it starts to download and then just quits. I have a MacBook Pro 2012 running 10.10.2. Any advice wold be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for providing advice however, I downloaded the Combo update and ran the install package. My computer then immediately restarts and when I check to see if the install updated the to 10.10.3 it did not. I ran this same update on my imac and got a long install screen which is not happening on my Mac pro so I know its not updating. Any other advice?

  • How do you get rid of the pending update from app store updates screen?

I own an 64GB iPad 2+3G. The App Store icon has a red circle with a number 3 in it. That means I have 3 updates pending.
I tried to download the updates to Pandora and Kindle using 3G at first. It did not work. I assumed it was because it was over 20 MB.
(I did not try the Vegas Towers one.) I went to the library and it still would not download via their wifi.
The description of the updates mention the retina display of the new iPad (3). Is that the cause of the download problem? I have already downloaded the iOS 5.1 at the library. Well, it is not that big a deal for me if I don't get the updates. But how do I get rid of the pending updates? How do I get rid of that little red circle? Also, I have not been able to use the Pandora or Kindle apps. They just keep saying waiting. I got boxes that said download failed and offering choice of done or retry. Since nothing happens, I chose done. So, I cannot update my apps, and in the meantime I cannot use the apps because the downloads stalled. I would like to abort the downloads and get rid of the updates from the update screen. I want to be able to use the apps again. Can anyone provide a solution? Thanks!

    Hi Panamark,
The problem has been resolved for me. I am a little fuzzy on how it got fixed.
I only have 3G, so I think I went to the library to use wi-fi.
I think I just deleted the stuck apps, and the downloaded them again. You do not have to pay again when you download a previously purchased app.
It is now August, and fortunately I have not had any stuck apps lately.
As you may already know, you cannot download an app over 20 MB via 3G.
I have the Kindle app also. No new updates lately. I only bought one thing using Kindle. It was a guide to iPad that was only $1.99 or so, but it did not really have anything that cannot be found in normal free Apple guide.
I have borrowed an ebook from the library using Overdrive app. You can choose the ebook version from Kindle.
I don't have any weather apps.
Let me know what happened when you get the chance.

  • Why can't iMovie be updated from App Store or from updater?

In 2011 I purchased the iLife '11 package on CD for $80 directly from Apple. Since then I've updated the various iLife Apps without incident, until yesterday.
I  downloaded the iMoved 9.0.6 Updater and attempted to update v 9.0.4 to 9.0.6. The Updater throws up an Alert: "The version of iMovie installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store yadda yadda yadda."
Well, I didn't buy iLife, or iMovie, through the App Store but I went there and attempted to update iMovie. Naturally, it isn't in my list of purchased items, nor does it appear on the Update page. However, the App Store knows it is on my Mac because the purchase button is now an "Update" button.
So even with Dirty Harry's 45 aimed right between my eyes, I'm feeling lucky and I punch "UPDATE."
Bam! New Alert: "You have updates available for other accounts To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."
Thank you Apple! I don't have another account, or any other accounts. One account is enough! I don't need no stinking other accounts.
First Apple screws the pooch by turning Final Cut Pro into iMovie on Steriods, and now to update iMovie I have to log into an account I don't have.
    Adobe Premiere here I come.
While I can actually do without iMovie, I'm sure the next time I try to update another item from the iLife suite, I'll run into the same illogical problem, so better to solve it now.

    Dear Shade247,
When you bought your MacBook, did you get a restore DVD? Perhaps that DVD will restore iLife - I think there is a software restore disc that comes with the machines.
The only way I was able to fix my problem was to dig out my original iLife DVD and reinstall iMovie.
However, in doing so, the install also reinstalled iPhoto, but actually trashed it. For some reason deselecting iPhoto was not a custom install option. So, I had to then reinstall iPhoto as well.
Of course, once iPhoto was fixed and iMovie 9.0 was installed, and both working, I still couldn't update iMovie because v9.0.1 was the minimum requirement.
So, I had to scroll through pages of prior Apple updates until I found the iMovie 9.0.1 installer and download it. After 9 was updated to 9.0.1, the current 9.0.6 updater worked fine.
I can't wait until Apple realeases a new version of iPhoto and iMovie so I can go through this all over again.
Apple listen? Don't hold your breath!
    Good luck!
