Repeated double clicks from lower section of G5 after shutdown

Hi, after scanning the forum this is looking like possible power supply issue. The computer in all other respects seems to be fine once booted up but after shutdown (and before power up) while connected to a live power source I get repeated metallic sounding double clicks and faint flickering white LED. I think I used to only hear one double click after switching on the BackUPS.
Is this sounding like a user serviceable problem or is it off to the repair shop for this? Or what if I just ignore it, will this become a bigger problem?
Thanks,
Dave

Replacing the PSU will require removing at least the bottom processor to access it at the bottom of the case. Not really a job for the feint of heart. Contacting your nearest Apple Service Agent would be simpler if you have one.
I imagine you may have seen some threads on PSU's on the forums, so you know they can die. You should make sure the G5 was not a part of the repair program. Serial numbers in these ranges…
CK539xxxxxx - CK608xxxxxx
G8539xxxxxx - G8608xxxxxx
YM539xxxxxx - YM608xxxxxx
RM539xxxxxx - RM608xxxxxx
… qualify (or did a few years ago) for new PSU's as a part of a G5 PSU exchange program.
The flashing LED (on the front of the case?) doesn't sound good. Check that it happens when not using the UPS.

  • How to handle both single click and double click from mouse

    hey,
    I looked in past threads and didn't get a proper answer for capturing both single and double click from the mouse.
    in most applications the single click action does not interfere with the double click action, for example in a text editor, single click sets the cursor in between the text, double click marks a word, triple click marks a sentence, they do not bother each other, they all can happen first the single then the double and then the triple, but what if i have a very distinct action for each of the actions, the e.getClickCount() returns every time the number of clicks and if i use
    if(e.getClickCount()==1)
        doSingleClick();
    if(e.getClickCount()==2)
        doDoubleClick();it will always do first the single click and then the double click, which works fine with the example i gave, but not with what i want to do, so i was thinking to over come this that i will use another thread to run my tasks if dt has past since the last click and by the last click counts to perform the correct action and go to sleep until the next mouse click notify it, what do you think?
    run this to get what i mean...

  • Double-click no longer opens PDF files after 9.3.2 update

    I have Acrobat 9 Pro installed on both my desktop and my MacBook. On the desktop, the update to 9.3.2 went without problems, on the laptop however, I'm running into problems:
    When I double-click on a PDF file, the Acrobat application opens, but the document does not open in Acrobat. If Acrobat is already running, the document also does not open in Acrobat. However, if I use the File>Open menu item in Acrobat, the documents open without any problems.
    I've tried to repair Acrobat (which on the Mac dos not seem to do much besides reporting that the no repairs are necessary), and I've also fixed the file system permissions.
    Anybody else having these problems? Or, even better any tips about how to fix that?
    Thanks,
    Karl Heinz

    Thanks for the tip, but that did also not fix the problem. I ended up removing Acrobat 9 from my system and reinstalling it and all the updates up to 9.3.2. It's working again.
    Thanks again,
    Karl Heinz

  • Double-clicking to open files stops working after opening lots of files.

    When I double-click a file it will open the file in CS6 version 13.0.1, but then after a while double-clicking will no longer open jpeg or raw files.  I can open the same files by going to File > Open in the Menu Bar.
    When I am simply opening downloaded files from my camera, I can open 200-300 by double-clicking with no problems.  However, at times when I am working on an image, it is not long before I can't open a file by double-clicking.  It will open a blank Photoshop window, but without any Toolbar or Menu Bars.
    This happens on a regular basis.  Sometimes, also, Photoshop is slow to Quit, for no apparent reason.
    Is anyone aware of this problem?

    Still having this problem.
    If I open a jpeg and just change the name, then Save As to a folder, I can then open another jpeg by double-clicking.
    However, whenever I open a jpeg and make changes to the image in Photoshop, then Save As to a folder, I can then no longer open a jpeg by double-clicking.  Photoshop will open, but the jpeg will not open.
    Since this only happens after making changes to a jpeg in Photoshop, it seems to me the problem is with something in Photoshop, and has nothing to do with my OS.

    You can try like this,
    FORM handle_double_click

  • Option-double-clicking for docs has stopped working after iOS 4.0.1?

    Hi,
    I've just installed the XCode 3.2.3 and iOS 4.0.1 SDKs and now the auto-linking to the documentation has broken. It works about 50% of the time, and quite randomly as to what it can or can't find.
    The documentation is up to date, as I can always find the method/type name manually. Is there a way to force a rebuild of this linkage? (I've tried rebuild code sense index)
    Thanks
    Steve

    It works about 50% of the time, and quite randomly as to what it can or can't find.
    Looks to me like it never finds methods declared in protocols, e.g. - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching: ...
    Also, it looks like there's problems with ambiguous method names, e.g. [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfFile: ... which will take you to NSArray's documentation.
    No, I have no idea on how to fix this.

  • Double clicking on a region to open it no longer works...

    After installing OS 10.8.2 I have problems with Logic 9.1.8. If I double click on a region in the Arrange window, it used to open on the lower part of the Arrange window so I could edit notes, velocity settings etc. Now, when double-clicking, the lower part opens for very short time (0,1 second) and then disappears. I have deleted prefs files, restarted the iMac etc., but nothing helps. - What should i do? Is there any other way to open a region in the lower part of the Arrange window?
    I just discovered that I have the same problem when double clicking on instruments. They open for a very short while (0,2 sec) and then close. This means that I can't adjust parameters in the pop-up window (instrument, filter etc.). Very strange. I remember I had this problem some weeks ago, but it disappeared. Not now.

    A few ideas..
    Have you checked your mouse/trackpad settings in System Preferences.... in case something got messed up there... as it sounds like an input device issue in some ways
    Also, check Logic Preferences/General/Editing and make sure that Double Clicking a Midi region Opens... is set to Piano Roll (Even if it is.. try unchecking it.. close prefs.. and recheck it again..)
    Finally, you said you had trashed the pref files.. which one(s) did you trash? Did you also trash the CS one too.. as it could be related to a control surface issue.. I mention this because a client of mine had an issue after installing an iPad Controller for Logic...  If you have an iPad/iPhone.. make sure the iPad/iPhone is powered off (Not just asleep) and test after that too...

  • Unable to double-click or drag/drop files to open.

    I'm running Photoshop CC 64 on a Windows 7 64 machine and am only able to open files in Photoshop by going to File->Open. Double-clicking from Explorer doesn't work and i can not drag/drop files into the open application window or taskbar icon. Right clicking on files and selecting "Open with" also doesn't work.
    I checked file associations and made sure to choose CC 64. If I right click on the shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator" which I have to do in order to get files to open between Lightroom and Photoshop (both need to be Run As Administrator), I'm still unable to open from Windows Explorer. However, if I check the box to "Run this program as administrator" in the shortcut's Compatibility tab, I can double-click to open from Explorer but am prompted with a UAC warning every time. Dragging/dropping into the open app still doesn't work.
    Opening between Bridge and PS works as expected so long as both programs are "Run As Administrator"
    Been searching the forums here and seen suggestions of similar but not the same issue, at least not that I've found.
    Anyone else experiencing? Suggested remedies?

    This is an OS permission problem.  Make sure you have ownership of the HD.  Do a web search on how to check.  External HD can be a problem for permission.

  • Photoshop CS2 will not open to double click in Snow Lepard

    Since loading Snow Leopard I have been unable to open Photoshop files with a double click. Double clicking .psd file opens PS with the message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." Right click "open with" gets the same result. I CAN open files through the file menu in PS. But, files opened via the file menu and saved as... will not open with a double click.
    The "Open with" in the file info window reads "Adobe Photoshop CS2". Even forcing it to open in Preview and then back to PS CS2, sort of like hitting it with a hammer, does not improve the situation.
    CS2 on and year old dual quad.
    Before you knee jerk a "CS2, what did you expect..." CS2 seems to work fine once open. And I have access to another brand new iMac 24" with CS2 and Snow Leopard that does not have this problem, files open with a double click.
    On my troubled machine the thousands of files in question opened yesterday, pre Snow Leopard. I have found a few PS files that are several years old that do open to a double click.
    Thoughts?

    In a partial answer to my own question...
    I have discovered that the Adobe CS2 files (as well as Illustrator CS2, Microsoft Office X, Silo, etc.) will open with a double click in some cases.
    Files on my main hard drive (Mac pro dual quad with four one terabyte hard drives, Snow Leopard 10.6.1) is a RAID made up of two of the internal terabyte hard drives will not open with a double clip. (They do open via the file menu in the given program).
    But files on non-RAID drives open with a double click as expected.
    It appears that the RAID drive (Apple software RAID) is the culprit.
    It is likely that a simple fix from Apple in the operating system to correct the opening of files with a double click from an Apple sotware RAID drive would solve the problem as the various programs all work fine otherwise with Snow Leopard 10.6.1.

  • Show field mara-MFRPN in the MP02 without double click

    Hi all,
    Anyone know how to show field mara-MFRPN in MP02?
    I know that once we enter the internal material, it will show a list of MPNs, but in order to view the vendor manufacturer part number, we need to double click on each of it. How can we view mara-mfrpn in the same screen, means on the 1st screen instead of double click?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Check ur pf-status. in that did u give PICK to the functionkey F2 which will enable the db click facility.
    apart from setting the PF-status with PICK (F2) also set the property "respond to double click" for the tablecontrol column in screen painter.
    and u can get the values of the clicked field by GET CURSOR command.

  • Trying to catch mouse double click

    Using come code in the API 1.3 documentation, I created a JList and am trying to catch when a user double clicks on an item in the list. I have the following snippet of code:
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) {
    if ((e.getClickCount() == 3) && (e.getSource() == list1)) {
    int index1 = list1.locationToIndex(e.getPoint());
    System.out.println("Double clicked from the left list on Item " + index1);
    When I double click on an item in list1, it prints out the output line twice as in:
    Double clicked from the left list on Item 1
    Double clicked from the left list on Item 1
    How can I get it to run the code only once. I'm not sure why it's running it twice. Any Ideas would be helpful. Thanks....

    I've used similar procedure with success in JDK1.3.1. Without seeing the rest of your code, the only thing left for you to experiment with is to call the consume() method if the count is greater than 1. I did notice that Java mouse event handler leaves much to be desired. For example, the mouseentered and mouseexited events kept getting fired even tho the mouse has entered and never leave.

  • Magic Trackpad Double Click Speed Inconsistency

    I have set the double click speed in the system preferences for the Magic Trackpad at about the halfway point. But it won't stay there.
    Every so often, about once a day, I find myself unable to double click and I discover that the slider that controls double click speed has gone to its highest setting. I set it back, and pretty soon the same thing happens again.
    I think there's a bug. Please reconfigure the software so that the double click speed setting remains where it was put.

    When the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad are used together it is not possible to set the double-click speed independently.
    If the trackpad is set to the highest speed the mouse will not double click. Lower the mouse speed and the trackpad becomes hypersensitive, producing inadvertent selection and dragging problems.

  • JTree Double Click

    Is there any way I can remove the default double click behaviour for a node in a JTree? Currently it expands or collapses the node, but I want it to do something else. I have set a listener up so it can do the new task, but I want to remove the expand/collapse behaviour as well.

    But it isn't....
    With the TreeWillExpandListener I cannot distinguish between the two expansion methods.
    However, I have found another, extremely simple way of doing what I want, using the JTree.setToggleClickCount(int) method. This sets the number of clicks needed to expand the node (but does not affect clicking on the + box). By setting this to a high number, I can prevent double clicks from expanding nodes, thus allowing my own double click listener to do the stuff I need.
