Repeated Failed Rendering 4k composition in After Effects CC

I am having repeated errors while rendering a 4k composition in Adobe After Effects CC. The composition is setup with the pixel ratio is 3840x2160 at 29.97FPS. I did this to match the output of the video that I will later attach to finish the composition I had generated in After Effects. The composition is about 12s long and takes about 12min(estimated) to render on my current platform. (14gb Ram, GeForce GTX 970, 4tb extra hardrive).
The problem I am running into is the intro composition will render about 3/4 of the way through then crash; I am getting a rendering error that causes it to stop and crashed after effects. I have tried changing the output Codecs settings and render quality to see if this helps at all, it doesn't. I can get the project to render in a lower quality of 1920x1080 (a little glitchy). I am not sure where to start troubleshooting this further?? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance!

I am using AE CC version 13.2
My render settings are in the pics below
my  caustics comp is 12 seconds long has a background sub comp, sky (logo sub comp) , and  bottom layer comp with wave world effects with some fades on the logo
The render seems to freeze at the same point for each time, even with I trying a new codecs or to mess with the settings, it seems to be with the comp itself or the output power of my platform.

I hope this helps, thankyou for your help with this. I wrote the initial thread when I was at work today away from my platform at home and did not have the specific details. Any help to get this thing moving again would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to lower output video quality as the rest of my video footage is in 4k with matching aspect ratios for the footage

  • Rendering a composition in After Effects

    Hi,
I had tried to render a composition, consisting of few animation frames but the resulting .avi file doesn't show anything.
    A video of it here:
    Anyone know why?

Normally this is kind of problem is user error. If you are new please start here: Basic Workflow
I really tried to figure out what you were doing because we don't have any details on your project or render settings. The video may actually be OK because your Media Player does not support Alpha Channels, or you could have something going on with your layers. Drop the rendered video into AE and put it in a comp to see if there is anything there and reveal it's properties. If there is nothing there then you should drop a white solid below all of your layers to give the video a background and then render it again. If you want a transparent background then you'll have to choose Lossless With Alpha from the presets in the Output Module. If neither of these suggestions work then you have to tell us all of the details of your project and give us a screenshot showing what is going on with the layers.

  • Rendering Problem on Adobe After Effects

I have a composition on After Effects that I want to render. It is 1 minute 30 seconds long. Every time I attempt to render, a box pops up saying: "The layer exceeds maximum size." I have tried rendering with other formats (e.g AVI, Quicktime, H.264 etc.) but every time it still pops up and says the same thing. Please can someone tell me what this means and what I have to do? Thanks.

As Dave said, we need a lot more info about your comp settings, render settings, what footage and effects are used and all that. also the exact error message (including all cryptic strings and numerical codes) might offer some insights. The way I see it, some flakey effect is expanding the layer size beyond AE's maximum of 30000 pixels, but we realyl can't be more specific than that...

So, I have created a cool project that was a lot of hard work in After Effects CC (Mac), While rendering a project in After Effects CC (Mac) , the application closes half way, saying it quit unexpectedly. Here is the link to an error log which is automatically recorded when After Effects crashes:- After Effects Crash (Mac) - Pastebin.com

Hard Drive: 500GB -- 186.49 GB free space.

Element 3d renders using your graphics card. Unlike After Effects, what GPU you're using matters a lot for Element.
As it is, you don't really have one.
You could try rendering an image sequence and then picking up your render where it left off when it crashes, but if a certain frame is just too much for your computer to handle, there's not much we can help with. I'd suggest adding a GPU that Element can use.

  • I am having trouble rendering a video in After Effects CS6

I am having trouble rendering a video in After Effects CS6. My video is only 12 seconds long. I am using the "Ray-Trace" feature". Whenever I try to render this video I get this error message.
Also, the text turns into a giant black boxy blob whenever I turn off the Ray-Trace effect.
    Somebody please help

That's a question for the Adobe forums.

  • CS4 I have created compositions in After Effects CS 4 but when I import them into Premiere Pro CS4

CS4 I have created compositions in After Effects CS 4 but when I import them into Premiere Pro CS4 they only appear in the monitor when the play button is activated. The other clips appear without a problem. I noticed that the same situation arises when I dynamically link to Encore CS4. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you Ann. But the problem is when switched on the AE clips on the timeline are only viewable when I start the project (ie press the space bar) and as it also doesn’t appear in Encore I am afraid to spend a great deal of time creating a DVD with these clips not appearing. Any advice?
    Regards and again many thanks

  • Problème avec une composition dans after effect

    Bonjour,
j'ai un problème avec une composition dans after effect (12.2.1.5). Lors d'une transformation à l'échelle d'une image, elle se double et se déforme

  • Can you play your composition in After Effects with audio?

  • How should i build and export a composition from After Effects to be dropped into a Premiere project

I've built a project in Premiere which i plan to burn to DVD. It's exporting at 1280x720. Pixel aspect ratio is 1.0. I'm exporting with MPEG2 setting.
After Effects won't let me make a project with 1.0 pixel aspect ratio, and it isn't letting me use MPEG2... it's giving me this medial 02 error...
    Help!

Well where should I start? AE will allow you to use square pixels. In fact the 1280 X 720 frame size is the HDV/HDTV 720 P preset and it's square pixels.
You don't set the compression until you render and, if you want the highest quality, you don't render MPEG formats of any kind using the Render Cue, you export them using the Adobe Media encoder. Where is After Effects telling you you can't use MPEG2??? How are you trying to get there.
If you are going directly to Premiere Pro (Which only exports or renders using the Adobe Media Encoder) you don't even need to render, you can just import your AE Composition into PPro.
Secondly, A DVD is not High Def in any form. DVD's are all 720 X 480 pixles (in NTSC countries). The only options are widescreen or normal.
Please read the sections on Rendering in the help files.

  • Rendering a project from After Effects CC trial

Hi! Will After Effects CC trial display a green cross when rendering?

The trial is fully functional for 30 days without any watermarks. This is not the case with most third party plug-ins. After 30 days the program simply will not launch but nothing happens to the projects you have created. When you license the software you can go back and get them.

  • Rendered clips play in After Effects and Premier, but not in Speedgrade

    Hi,
I am very new to the world of Speedgrade, and have started running some tests, but hit a brick wall right at the get go. I have an After Effects project, that has a few layers, some are filmed footage, some are photoshop images etc. there are also a few plugins used (Lens Flare, Particulare etc). I render this comp out to two outputs, 1 - Quicktime JPEG2000 Intermediate (Highest quality settings) and 2 - Quicktime DNxHD Proxy (Lowest quality settings). I can import and play bot these exports in After effects and Premier, but when I take them to Speedgrade, I dont get playback.
    Here are screenshots:
    After Effects footage settings:
Visual of the smoke in After Effects of the imported render:
The same file imported into sSpeedGrade:
Is this something that can easily be explained?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Pierre Devereux

    Hi Joost,
Thjank you for your feedback. I have submitted a bug-report as you suggested. I will find another workaround for now, probably doing most needed colour work in After Effects directly for now.
    Thank you

  • Rendering Video Files with After Effects, how?

I have succeeded rendering Xvid and DivX compressed AVI files to view them in TCPMP in my TX. The only thing that is not working so far is the audio. Can anyone advice what to do?
Or if anyone knows of another way to compress to MPEG4 or other viewable format for TCPMP...
    Thanks in advance,
    JDL
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

After Effects and added some effects and color correction, the final clip got out 392GB, although I chose the uncompressed settings and although I added effects. Normally it should be more than 578 GB.
The default QT output uses the Animation CoDec, which is a visually lossless compression. No problem here and I think you are overdoing. There is nothing wrong with converting files e.g. to LZW compressed TIFFs, PNG or EXR files, all formats producing much smaller file sizes than QT files and without losing any info...

  • After Effects Rendering keeps failing

    Hi,
So recently I am having an issue with rendering / exporting a project in After Effects CC or even linking the project to Premiere Pro CC and rendering that way.
Video will get to about 10% and fail the render process within After Effects, When linking to Premiere CC any effects will be lost when in the Premiere program..
Has anyone had an issue with this?
    Footage is 60FPS
    720P ( DSLR )
    Effects ( Video Co-Pilot Twitch )

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info and exact technical details like render settings, effect settings etc.. None of what you have provided is in any way what I would call exact.

I'm hoping Adobe plans to at least recognize these cards one day soon so they don't show up unsupported.  If anything I would expect the newer adobe software to work better with newer cards than it should with 5 year old quadro cards.
I know a situation like this can be very frustrating, sorry about that.
Unfortunately, the newer Maxwell NVIDIA GPUs ship without the OptiX Library and acceleration of ray-traced 3D compositions is dependent on that. Therefore, acceleration of these comps will not ever be supported with those GPUs. You may want to reinstall that Quadro card if you plan on doing a lot of ray-traced 3D work.
The After Effects team does recommend that you move forward with Cinema 4D Lite, as that is what is being tested and supported currently and going into the future.
    Thanks,

  • After Effects rendering issues.

I am currently trying to render a composition from After Effects, but every time I run into the same problem. Rendering starts then suddenly finishes, leaving me with a 68kb .mov file. The composition is rather large, about 5 secs. long and contains alpha. However, I have rendered similar projects without dificulties. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Try to debug it. Enable the Extra per Frame Info on the render queue and see where it stops exactly. Also twirl open the extended info on the -coRender Queue panel, this might provide additional clues. it tells you exactly on which premp or layer it's chewing currently. This may reveal the baddy.
