Repeated loss wifi connection, although network st...
I have a home hub 2.0, over the last 2-3 months I need to reset the hub 4-6 times a day at least. Suddenly while using the wifi my device(s) disconnect despite the network still being visible. When I try to reconnect my PC, Mac, iPhone and ipad all tell me connection isn't possible. No warning lights on home hub. I have changed the channel once but this doesn't seem to have helped.
Also is it worth upgrading to the new home hub (no infinity in my area) even if I can sort this issue out, is it that much better? Thanks
there are known problems with the HH2 http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/hardware/hh2/hh2_issues.html
you could try a factory reset using recessed button on back and holding till lights flash but if that does not solve it then phone CS and complain and ask for new hub as long as still in contract then replacement should be free
multiple resets will cause your noise margin to increase with your conenction speed decreasing resulting in lower profile and lower download speed

Why does my IPhone loss WIFI connection when I leave the room? When other mobile devices stay connected?
I can not send text messages to other IPhones if I do not have wifi or 3G on, the texts are sent as emails.Hey Linders1987,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you are experiencing issues with Wi-Fi on your iPhone 5. The following resource may provide a solution:

Wi-Fi disconnects or signal strength is less than expected
Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
Check for sources of potential interference.
Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including
- previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
- recently used Bluetooth accessories
- VPN and APN settings
Thanks,

Help needed to troubleshoot why my MacBook Pro repeatedly drops wifi connection
We run Mac & PC laptops, iPhone, iPad on occasion, with ATT DSL, 2Wire 2701HG-B Router. First 6 months of enjoying my Mac, no trouble. Then things started to go south. Been dealing with this problem of dropped internet connection for over a year. Got a new router--the 2Wire 2701, finally got a new phone line put in from the outside to inside. It now seems like the MacBook Pro drops the signal far more than the PC. It seems worse when I'm at my desk, which is only a room away from the router. It can drop the signal about every 3rd or 4th click on the internet. The Networks Diagnostics will show red buttons on the Server and Internet. Been testing other areas of the house, and find it seems better in these other areas, dropping far less. Hard to tell, because the problem comes and goes, like the sun. iPhone has dropped connection on occasion. iPad has occasional slow download of YouTube. Neither of those are troubling.
I tried checking with the Airport Utility, but it tells me it can't find any Airport. I obviously understand very, very little of this. Any help would be appreciated.Which os are you using?
Change your router channel. Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router. Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
Unlock the padlock
Locations: Automatic
Highlight Airport
Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1920 Mac OS: How to release and renew a DHCP lease
No internet connection (wireless)
Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

WRT120N - repeated loss of connection requiring reboot
I have an old WRT54GL that has been really good over the years but it was becoming problematic and I decided it was time to get an N router. After a visit to the local PC shop I picked up the WRT120N and brought it home then proceeded to set it up. I got that done and I was using it set to G only as I have an older laptop that can't use N and the router only comes with 1x USB adapter.
After a few days I noticed the internet side of the connection would randomly drop out but I could still access the router wirelessly. Rebooting the router resolved it but it keeps happening regardless of if I use G or N. The confusing thing in this is that it works fine for a while and one laptop works all the time. If it wasn't for the fact that a reboot solves the problem temporarily I would consider the laptop's wireless chip at fault so it points to something with the router.
I've updated the firmware to the latest available but it still happens. Rebooting whenever it happens isn't a solution and unless Cisco have some solution I'm going to end up returning it.I've given it a fair shot I think. After you posted I reset it to factory default then reconfigured it as well as removing the USB adapter from the equation. After almost two weeks the router has effectively dropped the connection twice a week, or three times in the past week. Each time the same thing will happen and the only solution is to reboot the router. The router is listed on available wireless connections, I can try to connect to it but it will fail for any device. Wired connections aren't affected but that isn't very helpful.
Wired connections seem to suffer a stuttering performance too where there's no throughput whatsoever for a few minutes but otherwise it works. Wireless performance is acceptable but these repeated instances of the connection dropping out mean that I'm resigned to taking it back for a refund. -
When in sleep mode my wifi connection keeps dropping out
Since updating to iOS 6 on my iPad 3 when I but my pad into sleep mode I loss wifi connection. When I wake the pad the wifi connection comes back.
Any help would be appreciated. Not likely an infection at all.
Wake from sleep is usually some problematic USB or FW device.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for Sleep/Wake problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport in 10.4 & below, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Cannot connect to wifi, cannot change network settings [SOLVED]
Asus EeePC.
lspci -k shows
Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 adapter is the hardware, and appears to be working. Kernel driver in use is bcma-pci-bridge
In Gnome, Wi-Fi status shows "not connected"
"Select Network" shows a list of available APs, I click on ours which is set up as WPA2 PSK. Click Connect. Nothing happens. At all, no dialog for password, no attempt to connect seems to be processed by the computer. This happens with open networks as well (coffee shop or whatever). Click connect but nothing further happens.
From the applet I can't even seem to be able to "Turn off" the WiFi at all.
From within Wi-Fi settings in the applet, I can see a list of available access points but clicking on them does nothing. There is no available way for any user input, although I can click the toggle to turn off Wi-Fi from within there.
I can't forget networks in my history here either: click "History" and I can see a long list of previous networks. I can check box for them all and say "forget" but then they're back when I open the history again.
So it seems like my NetworkManager is just simply not working. Can't change the current state of "not connected" to anything at all.
When I attempt to connect using Wifi-menu I get:
Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
>WPA Authentication/Association Failed {FAIL}
When I attempt to connect to any network. It never asks for password.
Gnome-Keyring is installed.
Netctl is NOT installed.
NetworkManager is installed and running according to systemctl
I've been running this Arch install on this machine for two years. This is not a new install problem. No hardware can be changed on this machine, so it's not hardware related (unless the wireless device itself crapped out).
Possibly related, I cannot shutdown the machine from within Gnome. I have to "sudo shutdown -h now" from a terminal. Seems to hibernate/sleep properly when the lid is closed though.
All of the results of searching on this indicate usually the problem is multiple network config softwares installed at the same time, like netctl and networkmanager together. Or not having a keyring manager installed That is not the case here unless it is one of those that is broken, but they don't seem to be.
I have no access to any wired connection at the moment at all, so I can't download anything to this computer at the moment. There's gotta be a way to get wifi working again, as it was just working last week. Haven't even done a pacman upgrade between when it last worked and when it stopped working.
Last edited by hooya (2014-12-02 15:20:20)I did mention the hardware is a Broadcom BCM4313
It may have been an issue with the Broadcom not working with iw. Not sure, as I haven't really changed things on this machine much (it's my wife's and I regularly update it but don't fuss with it much beyond "get it to work"). Like I said, the install is 2 years old, so compatibility may have even changed since I initially set it up.
I'm currently at work and without direct access to the computer in question. So I'll get those results later tonight.

Why do I have Intermittent Wifi Connection Loss during music streaming ?
Hello,
I have an ipad3 and an iPhone 4S and I am getting with both devices interruption of the sound when I send music to the Apple TV. It generally happens after a few minutes. The signal for the wifi is still good and I have still access to the Internet I have tried all the recommendations of the article "iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections" but this did not help. I have used several applications for sending music to the Apple TV (music application from Apple and DSAudio from Synology) but I'm getting the same issue. I have also the same issue with the media center application from Bouygues Telecom connecting directly to my internet router. My router is a bbox sensation. I had also the same kind of issue with my old router when sensing photo albums to the internet: I had the error message "your system is running low on ressources". How can I solve these intermittent wifi connection losses ?Try #5.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Thinking of purchasing Time Capsule.... Can I access my documents saved on (Home Network) Time Capsule from another Network??? For instance, I can access my documents saved on MyBookLive (which is connected to my wifi) from ANY wifi connection... Like when I'm at school I can download documents stored on my MyBookLive at home.... I love this feature... But I would prefer to keep my products apple... So my question is can I access my documents from ANYWHERE with Time Capsule???
Other products I have: MacBook (2009 limited edition it's aluminum) two iPad2 (2012) iPhone 5 (2012) two iphone4 iPod touch (2010) iPod Nano (2011)Remote access to TC is allowed by BTMM and iCloud service.
Not for ipad or iphone.. only the Macbook although I think people have some work arounds..
NOTE. Your school firewall should block it. If I was still working in network admin I would. ie you are risking the whole network to get access to files unchecked for viruses.. and please don't just say Macs don't get viruses, you can still be the source of the infection even if you don't suffer the disease. Just a carrier.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Ipad speed and wifi loss of connection
I updated my ipad 3 to iOS 7 version and it runs so slow now, it is so painful to use that I almost can't stand it, I've noticed the drop in performance, as soon as I upgraded the software.. Can I change it back, is there a fix for this..
Also, the ipad constantly drops its wifi connection since the update, Mysore upgraded his iphone 4 and it also drops the connection...?
