Repeated Prompts to Authorize Computer

Before someone suggests it I already tried this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
It didn't resolve my issues.  It just repeats the prompts to authorize and when I try it says my computer is already authorized.  It won't even play in my iPad (3rd Gen).  This just started all of the sudden today and I have not made any changes to my PC (Windows 7) or iPad.  I even tried deauthorizing and re-authorizing with no success.  Any ideas?
I did open a case with Apple but who knows when they will get back to me.

Hello dlethree
To clarify, have you tried to remove the SC info folder and then authorize your Apple ID again within iTunes?

I downloaded album but one song will not play, repeatedly prompts to authorize computer. I did all four suggestions on help site for itunes, Nothing works. I have read several posts, but many have problems with old purchases and new computers. This is a purchase I made today. I have tried deleting the SC file, and made all changes suggested by iTunes web site and other suggestions. Anybody have any suggestions I may have missed?

  • TS1389 iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases   How to fix?  Have removed sc info folder and adjusted user account controls per instructions

My ITunes sore account repeatedly prompts to authorize computer.  I have deauthorized and reauthorized computer.  I only have one computer authorized.   I have changed the user account controls per instructions.  I have removed the SC Info folder per instructions for Windows 7 and nothing works.   Everything was working fine a few days ago.

I have now checked my purchaes and when I check the video info by going to File/Get Info, I notice that some of the most recent purchases do not list my apple id whereas previous purchaes do.
    How do I correct this?

I have the latest iTunes on a PC (WindowsVista).
I try to play a song from iTunes andit tells me I'm not authorized and prompts me for my password. This authorizesthe computer but when I try to play the same (or any previously purchased) songI still get the same error and re-prompt for password.
    I have tried thefollowing:
    1. Authorize mypurchases from an administrator account.
    2. Authorize usingthe correct account name.
    3. Turn Off UserAccount Controls.
    4. Remove the SCInfo folder.
    And this http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
    5. Installed the new iTunes
    6. I have double-checked that themusic was purchased by me by right clicking and hitting Info.
    7. I havede-authorized this PC and re-authorized (which it confirms) it to the same effect.
The number ofPC's authorized is only 1, this one.
I do not know what else to try?
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Repeatedly prompted 2 authorize computer

i have recently moved my itunes library from the family desktop to my laptop. after getting tht library loaded, 40 of my songs will not play and i have 2 authorize the computer 2 play them. having authorized the computer multiple times, it still will not play. i have a vague idea wat is going on as i cancelled my old itunes account a few months ago and i think i may have purchased the songs on that account and i cant remember the email address or password. is there anyway 2 find out if those songs were bought on that account and if so, how do i get the email address back?

I''m not clear on a few things so ...
    have tried that, ...
Are you saying you have confirmed the iTS account name and password for the 40 or so songs you are unable to authorize? And you've used that information to try authorizing them?
    ... same thing happens.
For the record, exactly what happens?
i know wish i had not deleted that account!!!!
I don't understand what you mean that you "deleted" the account. iTunes Store accounts can't be deleted precisely because thet are needed in order for purchases that have previously been made to continue to be played.

  • ITunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
I followed all of the instructions on this page and iTunes still won't play 3 of the 5 songs I just purchased. Each time I try to play them I get the pop-up saying that my computer isn't authorized. I put my ID and password in and it tells me my computer IS already authorized but when I try to play the song again the pop-up comes back. I'm using Windows Vista. I have only one user account and it is an administrator account. I've made sure the username matches, although I only have one username so how could it not be. I turned off and on the User Account Controls. I deleted the SC Info folder. I've sent an email to Apple but any other help in the meantime would be appreciated!

  • TS1389 Troubleshooting Steps NOT Working - Computer repeatedly prompts to authorize computer.

I have tried EVERYTHING in this article multiple times and I still cannot play a single song purchased under one of my iTunes accounts.  The account is so old the songs are no longer available to download and I am stuck in an endless iTunes loop.
I have completely wiped out and reloaded my entire library
I have authorized when logged in as Administrator
I have change the settings on my User Accounts.
I have deleted the SC Info folder
This is on a brand new Windows 7 computer.  I had no problems on my old computer.
No one seems to have any other solutions.  I have lost a lot of music and am highly frustrated.  It seems like an iTunes bug and I wish they woudl fix it very soon!
Any help you have in the meantime would be fantabulous!

If you're getting that message for a small number of songs, delete and redownload those if doing so is free in your country.

    Hello Kuldip13,
It sounds like iTunes keeps asking you to authorize the computer. If you have already tried all the steps within the article you came from:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
I would next check to see if the same Apple ID is signed into, that was used to play these purchases with this article:
Recovering a forgotten iTunes Store account name
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1920
    Open iTunes
Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
    Choose File > Get Info.
    Click the Summary tab.
The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Was repeatedly prompted to authorize this computer or I would no longer be able to play certain video's.

Hello, I kept receiving prompts to authorize this computer or I would no longer be able to view certain video's.  The funny thing is my computer is the administrator or original computer. Never had a problem for years now this started happening. I would select authorize this computer and it would say this computer is already authorized. In the block to authorize this computer it always had my daughters apple id (her e-mail address) and I would remove it and insert mine. I let her use the home sharing option before, could this have anything to do with it? Now i have only 1 movie out of 5 I have purchased remaining on my Ipod. And it won't reload the others back onto my ipod.  Where do i go from here? Appreciate any of you pro's out there lending me a helping hand.  Thanks very much.........

    Perhaps this article can help.

You may want to double check to make sure that all of these videos were actually purchased with your Apple ID. You can view this information from under each movie's Summary tab of the Get Info window in iTunes.

  • TS1389 iTunes is repeatedly asking to authorize computer for one song on an album

I purchased an album on iTunes and one song on the album repeatedly asks me to authorize this computer but every other song on the album plays.  What is wrong with iTunes?  I enter my apple ID and password and it tells me the computer is already authorized.  But when I try to play the song, it asks again to authorize computer.  Over and over and over.  Something is wrong with iTunes.

You might also try deleting the track, then re-downloading it, which should be free.

  • TS1389 iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorise computer even after the computer is already authorised

iTunes repeatedly prompts me to authorise computer before playing a particular song. The problem persists even after I've authorised my computer. When I try to authorise again, it acknowledges that my computer is alrady authorised but the song will still not play.

Bought a song off iTunes Store on my iphone, came home, synced with my computer, and had the same problem with being asked for authorization. I authorized and recieved messages telling me my computer was authorized, yet it kept asking for authorization repeatidly every time I attempted to play the song. The song no longer worked on my iphone as well once I synced with my computer.
I took newriii's advice, deleted the song off my iTunes, logged on the iTunes Store, viewed my purchases, downloaded the song once again, and it now works fine.
    Weird bug, yo.

  • Repeated Prompting to Authorize

    Hello all,
Whenever I sync my iPod Touch or iPod Mini, I am prompted nearly every time to authorize my computer, even though it already is authorized. I go through the process, only to have iTunes respond that my computer is already authorized.
I have no problem playing my songs on the computer, and have no problem successfully synching once I authorize.
I have searched through the Knowledge Base and the Discussion forums and have not found any solutions to this problem. I haven't seen this exact problem listed by others, but I've seen similar issues listed, almost always unresolved. I've experienced this only since upgrading to iTunes 8.1.1, when I bought the iPod touch. Previously, I was using the latest version of iTunes 7, with the iPod Mini. It really seems like this is a widespread bug with iTunes 8/8.1.
I am using both iPods with one iTunes library and one Mac OS X user account, FWIW. I have different playlists syncing to each iPod.
There is a Knowledge Base article which specifies a number of things to try, including deleting the SC Folder, but none of these things has helped. The only thing I haven't tried was to delete and reinstall iTunes (and related files). I'll give it a try, but I'm not holding my breath that it will work.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you!

    Hi Nathan,
Try highlighting the one of the songs that will not play or sync in iTunes> click File> Get Info, check the account name and verifying you are authorizing the computer with correct account.
Do you see the same issue in another user account? Try downloading a free application or single of the week and syncing it to the iPhone from another user account.

  • ITunes Music lIbrary Sharing problems; repeatedly asks to authorize computer after it has already been successfully authorized

Having a very frustrating issue. I want to share music from my iMac's iTunes Music Library to my MBP. Purchased music plays fines on my iMac but not on the MBP. I can see the iMac's shared iTunes library from iTunes on my MBP. I have successfully authorized both of my computers using the same iTunes account username and password. When I try to play any purchased iTunes music on the MBP, it asks me to authorize the MBP again. Then it verifies that it is already authorized. Trying to play the same song again asks me to authorize my computer again at iTunes, over and over, ad nauseum. I can log into my iTunes account from both computers (via iTunes) which verifies that the username and password are correct. Both computers have the same version of the MacOS and iTunes, 10.5.8 & 10.4.1, respectively. It does this from multiple user accounts on the MBP. I went to iTunes and deauthorized both computers and reauthorized them again, no change. I uninstalled iTunes & all iTunes preferences and downloaded a fresh iTunes 10.4.1 from Apple, no change. I searched the Apple Communities and tried the suggested fixes in the knowledgebase article,  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1389  with no change.  I also ran Disk Utility and rebuilt disk permissions but there were no problems found.
Short of doing clean install of the OS or even a reformat and restore, does anyone have any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem, the only way to fix it is to oddly enough de-authorize your computer and reauthorize it and you'll have the correct number of authorized computer again.
I do not know why iTunes does this maybe someone else can explain why?

  • TS1389 Repeated request to authorize computer in itunes

The suggested solutions in the article did not work in my case. Does anybody have another solution?

Use that account's Apple ID and password; the procedure is otherwise the same as authorizing it for the first account. If the iTunes library contains protected content from more than five iTunes Store accounts, you may not be able to fully sync it.
