Repeated Purge Cache error

Every time I open Bridge I get an error that says:
Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation.
I have followed this direction several times and I still get the error every time. I've seen that several others have had this problem too, but the most recent set of directions on how to fix it was written a year ago for an OS that is three generations behind mine. Anyone know how to fix this for an iMac running 10.9.3?

I have exported ODBC path manually.
export ODBCINI=$ORACLE_INSTANCE/bifoundation/OracleBIApplication/$ORACLE_BI_APPLICATION/setup/odbc.iniAnd then executed the nqcmd command. Now I am getting the different error.

• Keep getting purge cache error?

Before and after updating bridge I get same error and I've tried just about everything I can think of. I know I'm not alone with this.

• Repeated "Bad Request" errors after clearing cache, cookies, and cookies.sqlite

I get repeated "Bad Request" errors when submitting forms, logging in/out of sites, etc. I get this on a wide variety of sites. I have tried repeatedly clearing all cache and cookies. And I just tried disabling all my add-ons (only have 4) and then deleting the cookies.sqlite file and this still made no difference.
I am using Mac OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 5.0.1 but I have been experiencing this problem in past versions as well, maybe as far back as the latest firefox 3. My main motivation for upgrading Firefox multiple times was hoping this problem was corrected. It never used to happen, it just started happening all of a sudden. It has never occurred on Safari and I am still able to get any site that doesn't work properly to work on Safari without any problem.
I experience this on many sites. One reliable cause of it is logging out of Facebook.

You did delete all cookies.* files ?
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cookies#Removing_cookies
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

• Cache error message in Adobe Bridge CS6

I am continuing to get a cache error message despite purging the cache several time on different occassion via the Preferences. Adobe Bridge now seems to be frozen on Building Criteria. The platform I am using iMac OSX 10.8.5. I have rebooted the machine a couple of times to no avail. Any advice

If Windows, search your event viewer for something like "The device \Device\Ide\iaStore0 did not respond within the timeout period." Since this
is kind of a hardware issue, there might be a similar thing happening on MACs. If you see this warning check what driver you are using for Intel
Rapid Storage Technology. I was using version 10.x and the latest from Intel is 12.x. Intel cautions you not to use this updated driver without
checking with the system manufacturer, which in my case, Asus, maintained that 10.x was the latest approved driver. I installed the 12.x driver
directly from Intel despite the warning, and the problem seems to have been resolved. I post in case this gives someone else a clue to solve
this nagging problem.
Oh, this might be particularly significant if you have recently installed a larger hard disk.

• Bridge CC is asking my to 'purge cache'. When I do this doesn't work and freezes my mac. Bridge is unable to work at all. Please help?

When I start up Bridge CC I get a error message instructing me to purge cache in preferences which I do but it doesn't work and freezes my mac. I cannot curretnly use Bridge CC. PLease help as this is costing me time and money - thank you in advance....

Hold down the Option key as you launch Bridge, keep it down until you see a dialog box, then click all three options in the re-set box that comes up.
If you don't see that re-set box, you're doing it wrong, i.e., you're not holding the Option key down fast enough.

• Bridge CC asks to Purge Cache but freezes when I try to do so

Am using Bridge on a MAC. Each time I open Bridge an error message comes up requesting to Purge Cache via preferences - But when I try to do this, it freezes.
In fact, even before trying to purge cache, if I try navigating to another folder on Bridge it also freezes.
Have trashed Bridge, downloaded it again and reinstalled - problem continues.
What should I do?

Yes that worked - THANKS.
I created a new cache folder and deleted the other - and now it works!
I had to show hidden files via terminal to delete the previous cache folder.

• URGENT Bridge and cache error photo corrupted NEED HELP

We were going to edit a photo and upon opening it and error came up and said: "edit bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. please try purging the central cache in cache peferences to correct situation"
We solved the cache problem by purging it but the photo is corrupted! Furthermore, the photo turned red and 1/3 of the photo has been mysteriously turned black! It only briefly returns to normal after cache problem in adobe bridge. It turns normal but only for a split second!!! WE NEED THIS PHOTO RESTORED TO ORIGINAL CONDITION BEFORE THE CACHE ERROR.
Thank you for help

Your photo may be lost, I'm sorry to say.
Check your Windows System Event log and look for disk errors. Disks do fail, and if there have been unrecoverable errors you'll see them in the event log.
A failing disk is not something to be left alone. I hope you have a recent backup - if not, make one right away, then replace any failing disk drive ASAP, or you chance losing more data. I always recommend high-reliability enterprise class disk drives such as Western Digital RE4. They're not that much more expensive, and lost data can be worth a lot.

• Bridge CC hangs upon opening, suggests purging cache which dies nothing except make issue worse

Have had issues with Bridge becoming increasingly and painfully slow in loading/previewing its thumbnails on all machines in the studio.
We have purged cache as per suggestions from the opening error messages but this has only made matters worse to the extent that now it wont load its previews at all.
Ive reinstalled Bridge three times now. Even after reinstalling Bridge still retains last folder browsed information and will attempt to navigate to that folder regardless what you are trying to select.

Imprecise Data Parity Error
Which in other words means, a temporary error in memory. On single occurence adivice is to monitor the supervisor for re-occurence of such failure again. You can monitor it for 24 - 48 hours and if its a hard failure , the likelyhood of issue coming again is more and you need to replace supervisor. If it does not repeat you can consider this as a one time issue and contnue using it.
Hope this helps and please always rate useful posts.

• Bridge & Cache Errors - CS4

I keep getting errors when I launch Bridge saying "Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation".
I purge the cache but the message keeps coming back. I tried deleting the Bridge Preference file but still keeps happening.
No doubt it's something wrong on my computer. Always seems to be the case when I post a problem. But I thought I'd post just in case there is a solution.
Mac G5 Quad - OS 10.4.11 - 12 GB RAM - 2 internal TB Drives with plenty of free space

Added Note: Thought it might be relevant to mention that I also use Lightroom 2 on this setup, just in case the two programs are conflicting.

Linda,
Distributed cache is the name Adobe used up until CS3 at which point they decided not to bother giving it a name at all. The screenshot shown below is how you want the cache preference to be set.
The Purge command that I referred to is the command found under the Bridge Tools>Cache sub menu not the Purge Cache command found in the preferences panel shown below.
Thank you for the screen shot and added info. I did have Export Cache deselected. I've done everything I'm supposed to but so far still having the same error message.
I seem to be a magnet for these problems. Problems seem to search me out and find me. Having other issues related to Dreamweaver CS4 on a fairly new MacBook Pro.
At least I can work from Lightroom, and I can probably even still work in Bridge, so at least this isn't disabling... just concerning.

• CS6 Bridge says encountered problem, purge cache

Hi there Forum Room, Please can anyone help.
I have been running photoshop CS6 for about 2yrs on my iMac running with 6gb Ram. Whenever I open Bridge I get this message and then it locks.
"Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation"
The only way to close the program is to force quit
I have tried purging, through Tools > Cache > Purge cache > But it still locks up, the little circle in the bottom left corner keeps going round and never stops this has been going all night and nothing has changed.
I have tried uninstall and reinstall but bridge has this problem again, Photoshop works good but I have no preview area to view photos before editing !......Please Please can anyone help

Supply pertinent information for quicker answers
The more information you supply about your situation, the better equipped other community members will be to answer. Consider including the following in your question:
Adobe product and version number
Operating system and version number
The full text of any error message(s)
What you were doing when the problem occurred
Screenshots of the problem
Computer hardware, such as CPU; GPU; amount of RAM; etc.

I then go into Adobe Bridge Preferences > Cache > Manage > Purge Cache. After clicking on Purge Cache, I continue to have the same error message after restarting my computer and opening up Adobe Bridge. In addition,
my thumbnails continue to load up slowly.
What do you think the problem is?

What do you think the problem is?
A corrupted cache folder. Quickest solution is to Quit Bridge and delete the content of the whole Bridge Cache folder manual.
Not clear what system you are using neither what version of Bridge and OS. I only know the path for a Mac, Windows might be similar.
Go to the user library (per MacOsX 7 hidden by default, in Finder use menu Go with option to reveal).
Here is the path:
User (your username)/Library/Caches/Adobe/BridgeCSxx/ - Inhere are two files, a plug in cache and a folder called cache.
Drag both items outside the library, preferable to the trash.
Restart Bridge (both deleted items will be recreated and fresh but empty) and try again.

• Install cache error

I'm trying to install itunes 10.6 on windows 7 home premium. it downloads the software and starts to install. I receive an error: "an error occurred while attempting to create the directory c:/program data/apple/installer cache" I click retry several times and no luck so I have to click cancel and it rollsback the installation. I have downloaded a new copy of the installer from another computer and receive the same error. I dropped the UAC on the system to none. That did not work, it give me the same error. I have tried renaming the Installer Cache to a temp name and when installing again, I the error says it doesn't have the permissions to create the directory. I have gone into the control panel and attempted to repair bonjour, itunes, apple mobile device support, apple software update and quicktime and all of them have reported "The system cannot find the file specified." I have tried running the install package with the right click Run as Administrator and the install cache error still occurs. I have check the security on the file and it has my user name and full control on the parent and all items below.
When I plug in my iphone or ipod, it asks about updating to 5.1, I click download only. I then receive an error window "There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone or ipod. The network connection could not be established"
I don't know if the two problems are related. I'm at a stand still have have no other ideas of what to try next. What suggestions might you have to solve this problem?
Thanks for the help!
Joel

I tried to rename the apple computer folder to _old and I received another error with another really funky folder name that looked like a SID. I renamed that and reran.
Crikey. Probably that number (in the folder name) was the SQUID ("squished GUID") for the iTunes installation (or possibly one of the other associated components being installed). In addition to the error 5, that brings us to a total of three of the more exotic things that could possibly happen in this sort of file-access-problem context.
So, excellent work on your part getting past all that. Many thanks for reporting back with your resolution, too.
