Repeating ToDo items?

If I need a reminder to take out the garbage on Monday and Change the fish tank water every Wednesday, the only way to do this in iCal is schedule events and make it an "all-day" event. this creates a "banner" at the top.
Once again, I make the dire request for iCal to behave more like Palm Desktop or Group Organizer so I can make a recurring "ToDo" item.
I would much prefer having a new row under Week-View that shows ToDo items scheduled for that day or carried over from previous days. I really don't like the single view for everything on the right. this way I can see upcoming ToDo's visually on the days they are scheduled.
Do others agree with this thinking?

Thanks Daniel for your thoughts. I don't want to get lost in semantics here. I don't know if you've ever used other programs like Palm Desktop, Claris Organizer, or Group Organizer. I have depended on programs like this for over fifteen years and found a common element among them all. They allow you to assign "ToDo's" or "Tasks" that you can input on certain days and view them on your calendar on those days, not on a single list like iCal. I can visually look ahead to next week and see what I have to do. I don't want a "banner" at the top of my calendar for these things which is usually reserved for Birthdays, holidays, vacations, etc.
As far as repeating items go, I would still rather have "ToDo's" have the ability to repeat as well. I agree that if iCal keeps the single ToDo list, then the point is moot and I probably won't be using it much longer.

  • Where is the option to set a ToDo item to repeat? ...

I imported some calendar entries from MS Outlook onto my 5800, of which most were set to repeat every month.
Those items successfully repeat on the device but on creating a new ToDo item using the device's calendar app, there is no option to set repeating occurrence!
Where is the option to set a ToDo item to repeat?
Can anyone please help me with this as I do not want to have to keep re-creating items and / or using Outlook to create them then transfer etc.
    'Ta very much.

Just found an alternative that I thought was possible but wanted to confirm.
Set yourself up a Nokia account on www.ovi.com and set up an OVI Sync account. Sync the phone to the online account to start with.
Then, using the online interface to OVI Sync you can create an event that can be repeated weekly among other things. Re-sync the phone and that repeating event will be entered into your calendar.

  • ToDo Items Not Appearing In Published iCal Calendar

We are a group of homeschool, high school students using iCal together. We each have MobileMe and use it to publish our calendars. Some published calendars show the users todo list, some don't. We have checked to make sure that todo items are published. We have followed all the suggestions found at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iCal/2.0/en/wr20.html. But we can't get the todo items to appear. The problem can be duplicated repeatedly with the same users.

    Hello pohlipit,
Thank you for your question regarding items not appearing in your Work Calendar under the Week view on your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone.
Are you able to see these entries under other views within the Calendar? Do the entries display with a lock on them or not at all? Is this account set up on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server with BlackBerry Balance?
    Thank you.

  • E61 - ToDo item due date

    Nokia E61 > 1.6610.04.04 19-04-06 RM-89
Bought SIM Free but using on UK Orange Network
Is it possible to set a ToDo item without a specific due date ?
I must be really busy or somthing as I have a lot of items on my ToDo list which makes my daily view on the Calendar hard work scrolling down through all the ToDo items just to get to the first thing I have booked in the day.
I've started to pick random dates in the future for ToDo items just to keep the Calendar clear... which is a work around but not a fix
I'd be happy for the ToDo items without a date to dissapear from the Calendar view and only appear in the ToDo view.
    Any help and advice appreciated

I have the same problem, viz, how to limit the ToDo items sent from the PC to the Daily View. Have you found any solution other than that very inadequate (though helpful!) workaround of putting a random future due date on the ToDo item?

  • Repeating an item in details section in CR

How can I repeat an item(eg:Name) in page 2 of details page if the other item2 (eg:comments) spans over to page2.
This report has group headers. they are repeating. But I want to repeat the items in details page.
    thanks

If you want to repeat in the next page. you can place a heading in the page header which will be repeated in all the corresponding pages.

  • Impossible to double-click on a todo item when another's title is highlighted

    Can anyone reproduce this?
    1) Double-click on a todo item. Its title gets automatically highlighted.
    2) Double-click on another todo item
    Expected Results:
After 2), the info bubble for the second todo item is displayed.
    Actual Results:
After 2), a new info bubble pops up, but it is still for the same initial todo item.

  • Associating files with ToDo Items

I really like the "url" field in ToDo items, especially since I do school online and I can link right to my login site. But what I really want is to link to files - for example, if my ToDo item is "Finish Assignment 3", if I could set up a shortcut that will open the Word file "Assignment3.doc." Is there any way to do this in iCal?
    Thanks!

    Erin, John,
you can even add an URL to the note field of both events and todos (tried it with todos just now:-)
You can enter in the note field of events or todos URLs of this form: "http://www.apple.com" or "mailto:[email protected]" or "file://localhost/Users/yourname/Desktop/file.name". The third URL should be added with an appropriate directory (John's script prepares such an URL). Enter all URLs without the quotes.
Then right-click (ctrl-click) on the text and you can choose "Open URL" from the pop-up window. The option "Create Link" creates a clickable link, but this property is lost when you leave the todo.
I posted this feature for events some days before, so it will work with 10.4.2 and iCal 2.0.x. I'm not positive with 10.3.x and iCal 1.5.x, though.

  • Calendar Publishes but ToDo items do not

    Hello,
I've been successful at publishing my calendar and allowing subscribers to view it. But when I allow the publishing of to-do items they will not show up on the other user's to-do list. Is there something I'm missing? I've allowed todo items to be published.
    Any help is appreciated.

I figured this out. When a user subscribes to your calendar, upon entering the URL a options/settings screen will pop up. This has (by default) the boxes checked that say "Remove Alarms, Attachments, and To Do items". You must UNCHECK those boxes if you want the user to receive the alarms/attachments/to-dos.

  • Impossible to bring up the info pane about a todo item outside the current view

    Can anyone reproduce this?
    1) Set iCal to hide todo items whose deadlines are outside the current view.
    2) Create a todo item whose deadline is outside the current view.
    3) Search for the todo item.
    4) In the search results, double-click on the todo item.
    Expected Results:
The same thing happens as with events: the view switches to the week containing the event, and its info pane is displayed.
    Actual Results:
    Nothing happens.

Your site was built using tables, whose sizes are defined in your site.
If we look at your first table definition, we can see:
    <table width="861" height="1449" border="3" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bordercolor="#868787">
Your table has a width of 861 pixels and an overall height of 1449 pixels. Anything you put into that overall box must fit those dimensions, else
it won't be visible. Anything you add above it will push everything down. You can redefine your sizing to let you edit more inside of the table elements.
This is why, when you type in more text, things act weird. If you are in Dreamweaver, you must find the right cell to put your text into and then enter
text there. Unfortunately, this is going to push things around, which were all lined up using tables. And this gets everything offset with respect to
    everything else in your website.
And that is why everyone is saying, "Start Over!"
I just inherited a website that has been put together using tables. I'm going to have to expend considerable effort in rewriting the entire design of the
website because of that. because everything I intend to add to the pages on the site is going to need to be deconstructed in order to get it to work
properly if I'm adding text and pictures that need to line up with each other.
You need something done quick and dirty and the only way I can recommend you do that is to use Dreamweaver to show you the tables you have
and put what you need in a new table that is defined above or below the tables you all ready have defined. Do that and then get back to someone here
who knows how to make a website correctly to clean up your entire website and make it editable -- which will cost you some money, but it will be
    money well-spent.
I like to quote this maxim: Good, Fast, Cheap. Pick any two. This works for website design. You can get it fast and cheap, but it won't be good. I
think you may have chosen that route.

  • Auto delete old todo items and/or events

Whenever I check the "Delete todo items after..." and the "Delete events after..." options in the Advanced preferences, iCal becomes really sluggish and after a while, my Mac freezes completely... even force quit key combo wont do anything. All I can do is force reboot it.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
From iCal's File menu, select 'Export…' > 'iCal Archive…' and save the archive file. In the Finder open the file and wait for iCal to restore from it. Then turn the 'delete after' preferences back on.
Let us know how it goes.
    Best wishes

  • Default alarm time for ToDo item

  • Can't Delete Todo Items in Mail

I have a bunch of todo items listed in Mail that are grayed out. Every time I try to delete them them go away, however when I start the app up again they come back, Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Amy,
On My Mac is a terminology for any mailbox you create to be stored on your Mac's hard, but you no longer see that Icon, normally, in the Sidebar. The On My Mac mailbox you see in Trash has been created by Mail when you deleted a message from one of your "On My Mac" mailboxes.
Double click on your hard drive Icon, and in the resulting Finder window, click on the Icon of a House in the Sidebar -- this opens your Home folder. The double click on the Library in this Home folder, and find the Preferences folder in it. This Preferences must have the com.apple.mail.plist file -- do you find it?
Once you find the plist file, but before taking any action do the following:
Be sure to Quit Mail, and in the Finder open Home/Library and locate the Mail folder. Control-click over the Mail folder, and choose Duplicate -- then drag the resulting copy to the Desktop for temporary backup. Next, open Home/Library/Preferences and find the com.apple.mail.plist file and drag it to the desktop.
Relaunch Mail, which will open as though new, and when prompted to import anything say Yes or whatever affirms. Next re-enter your account info, and Mail will set up new account folders, but will keep your other mailboxes, but we have the backup sitting on the Desktop if all does not go as expected.
Ask any needed questions, and keep us posted.

  • Full-day event created from todo item with one day off

    Can anyone reproduce this?
    1) Create a todo item
    2) In week view, drag-and-drop it to create a full-day event
    Expected Results:
A full day event is created on the day onto which I dropped the todo item.
    Actual Results:
The event is created the THE DAY BEFORE the one onto which I dropped the todo item...!?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. How photos are separated when imported is set in iPhoto's Events preference pane:
When importing from the Finder, i.e. a folder on the hard drive, all of the photos will be in a single Event unless that checkbox that's pointed to in the screenshot is checked.
FWIW my workflow is to upload after every shoot to a folder, name the folder to identify the occasion of the photos and import the folder into iPhoto. This gives me an Event with the same name as the folder. I also rename the photos with the international date format for the date the photos were taken: YYYY-MM-DD-001.jpg, -002.jpg, etc. This avoids duplicate file name issues that can crop up at a later date.
I then have the camera reformat the memory card for the next shoot.

  • Mail is Not Responding upon adding ToDo item...

+ToDo integration in Mail: I didn't really use this feature in Mail before although have heard about it.+
The problem is that *Mail application hangs for no obvious reason once I try to add new ToDo item*. Cursor becomes a spinning wheel and nothing happens. It takes forever unless application is forced to quit.
Here some more details: iCal had google calendar (which I didn't even setup) since I am a GMail user (I guess it was created by Mail on a first day of Leopard installation) besides my local calendars. So, Mail application was attempting to add items there with no luck. It may had caused problem and Google Calendar was removed today by me from iCal for that reason. Problem remains open. Literally nothing changed.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Does anyone know how to resolve it?

Mail is really odd application (at least in case of ToDo items add).
    1. New ToDo item is added into calendar specified in options ("On MyMac" or "on server") in case it is created with push onto "New ToDo" button without any server selected (aka non of emails is previewed|selected currently).
    2. New ToDo is added into calendar that corresponds to current server in case mail is selected.
    +Here is an Example:+
Problem: +GMail account is setup. Have an email from friend that asks to view some link. Want to do a ToDo item that would remind me about link in one or two days.+
_Solution A_: +select link inside mail and press ToDo. New event will be automatically added into corresponding GMail Calendar in iCal (Mail client is supposed to create calendar in iCal if one does not exist).+ BAAD
_Solution B_: +Select link and copy into clipboard. Unselect any mail (say, go to inbox folder without any server picked, or RSS - use any mean of doing that). Click ToDo button and create event. It will be added to whatever is specified in Preferences (say "On MyMac").+ GOOOOD

  • Dropdown within a repeatable subform item propigation question

I have a repeatable subform with a dropdown and an "Add Subform" button. The user enters various information into the subform and may either select an existing item or enter custom text into the dropdown. Then the Add Subform button is pressed.
On the click event, I want to propigate the selected item or entered custom data from the 1st subform (index 0) to the newly added subform (index i).
After doing a resolveNodes I try this:
    Array.item(i).dropdownname.rawValue = Array.item(0).dropdownname.rawValue;
But I always get the defult value.
I have also tried various ways to get the selected item or store the selected item (or entered custom data) into another field and use it to either set the rawValue or clearItems()/addItem() in combination, but nothing I try works.
    Any assistance is appreciated, thanks!

Figured it out in the shower...where I do my best thinking.
Had to save the rawValue, reset the list by setting selectedIndex to -1, then reload the saved value.
Probably other ways to do it, but this works.
    Thanks
