  • Repeatitive manufacturing scenario

    Dear Experts,
We have multiple prod line & using separate prod version for each line & maintaining one BOM.
We want to maintain Line Code & Station Number combination for components in the BOM so taht with a query we can get the report that at any particular station what parts are required from the BOM.
    Thanks.

We want to put station number against each component where the particular part is to fitted  in the BOM of finished good. We have multiple lines & single BOM without issue sloc of component of a finished good for all the lines. We are maintaining prod version for each line & issue sloc is maintained in prod version. For a line one sloc is maintained for consumption of the component. How we can put station number & line number so that we can get information from BOM as at any particular station what components will be used.

  • Discontinuation of Repro

    Dear Experts,
We have repeatitive manufacturing Scenario & during backflushing REPRO is allowed.
Now we want to stop REPRO  so that booking (MFBF) can not be dode if any component is in error (Non REPRO Allowed).
What necessary steps/precautions has to be taken?
Should be create new REM profile
    OR
We should use existing REM profile by removing the tick from Error correctionfor backflushing (create cumulative post processing record & also create individul post processing record) from existing REM profile.
What else to be done for costing/product cost controller which has already been done with existing Repro allowed profile?
    Abhishek Dwivedi

    Hi,
It is always better to create new REM Profile.
Apart from removing the Tick for Error correctionfor backflushing (create cumulative post processing record & also create individul post processing record), you need to set the tick for
Execute correction in Dialog Mode  - Mandatory.
Now when ever there is a component missing system will pop up a message, if you process that message then ok otherwise system will not allow you to proceed further..
This is enough to restrict reprocessing/post processing.
I hope you are executing the Program: CORUPROC as a backhround job.
If not start executing thi program, every 30min or every 1 hr, with the setting error in goods movements.
    Hope this helps..
    Regards,
    Siva

  • Best Practice for manufacturing Industrial Machinery in batch size

    Dear Sir,
We have a scenario where we need to manufacture Industrial Machine in a Batch Size of 10 nos . These machines have multi level BOM and total manufacturing cycle time is approx 3 months .
We request you to kindly suggest us about the best manufacturing practices related process we should follow to address this scenario .
At present , we have been manufacturing these Machines on individual basis ( It means MRP run is done for individual machne and production orders generated are also on individual machine manufacturing basis) .
We would be highly greatful for the suggested solution pl .
    Rgds
    Sonia Agarwala

    Dear ,
Please use the following functionality in your case :
1.If you are particualr to have 10 pc in each batch qty then keep the Lot Size as Fixed Lot Sixe -FX with Fixed lot size qty as 10 in material master MRP1 view .
2.As your approximate manufacturing cycle is 3 motnhs , then you can have MRP run once three months for FG   and plan your dependent accordingly through MRP .
3.If you are following MTS cycle , then create demand in MD61 or you can create direct Sales Order in VA01 for MTO process
4.Run MRP with NETCH ,1,1.3,3,2 , planned order with FG qty 10 pc will be generated  and you can convert them into Production Order in MD04-Planned order-convert to PO
    Regards

  • MIXING ORIGINAL APPLE MEMORY WITH MEMORY FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTURER

    Hi everyone,
I'm about to hop on the mac train and buy a macbook 2.16GHz( the recent previous black model)
It's coming with 1GB of memory and I wanted to buy 2GB to add to it. I found a good deal for a OWC 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz DIMM(it's one stick of 2GB).
Is it compatible to mix different memory makes and if so, is it also optimal? Would the optimizing power be the same if I used all the memory from one manufacturer or it makes no difference? Thanks.

    bdkjones wrote:
As long as the memory is by a major manufacturer (Samsung, Hynix, Micron, etc) it should not matter.
You do get a slight advantage by using 2 of the same capacity RAM modules. (i.e. 2x1GB chips or 2x2GB chips). In practice, however, this performance gain really isn't noticeable. You have to run a memory benchmark test to see the difference.
I remember there was this supposed IT guy who claimed that different brands of memory "fight it out". Some of the answers were absolutely hilarious. Seriously, there's nothing that consistent about a single brand of memory. There are always variations, but I wouldn't worry about a thing provided the memory actually meets its published specs. You get variation quality with memory modules that aren't fully-branded by one of the major memory IC manufacturers, but there are some reputable brands out there (OCZ, PNY, Patriot, etc).
I have an iBook G4 1.42. For two+ years I've been running the permanent Samsung memory with a 1 GB Micron PC2700 module. I've never encountered anything that suggests that there is a problem with it.
I've also read the Intel specs on what the chipset does with memory sized identically. Apparently it can do that very same thing (memory interleaving) even if the sizes aren't matched. However - it'll only do that for up to the size of the smaller module, and the remainder of the larger module isn't interleaved.

  • New to the manufacturing world?  Here's a resource that might help...

I've noticed that there are lot of MII implementors who are unfamiliar with the terminology, systems, and processes in the manufacturing world.  I would definitely recommend obtaining this book and reading it from cover to cover!
    http://www.evolvedtechnologist.com/section/books/in-pursuit-perfect-plant-a-business-and-technical-guide
It is written in a format that presents a manufacturing company from many perspectives : planning, operations, maintenance, and others.  While an expert might find it somewhat redundant, I think that many of the less experienced MII consultants would derive great value from it.

[APICS|http://www.apics.org/default.htm], although not as popular as they once were, offers some education and certification (ie, CPIM).  One of the courses "Basics of Supply Chain Management", which is available in [book form|http://www.apics.org/APICS/Bookstore/ProductDetail.aspx?CS_ProductID=4186&CS_Category=&CS_Catalog=APICS+Bookstore] is also a good start.

  • Bought iphone 5C on December. No additional warranty purchased. The phone keeps not working and the top and bottom right corners look melted. Can I send it in amd get a new one on manufacturer warranty? Or what are my options? Thanks

I Purchased iphone 5C on December 2014. However now it's very difficult to have it working. The screen is constantly not working and the right side bottom&top does looks like its melted? the cover I mean , which maked the phone slide out of its cover. I did not purchase anny additional warranty or insurance so I don't know what to do with it? Can i send it in and they can send me a new one under the manufacturer warranty or what do i do with it?
I Have alwa had an iphone but this 5c is making me never have one again. Thanks in advance

Each iPhone comes with a one-year warranty. You said it looks melted? That's going to be difficult to prove that you did not damage it, and it happened on its own. That is the only way it would be covered.

  • Excise Invoice Error in STO from Manufacturing to Manufacturing Plant

    Hi,
This is a scenario of Intracompany (within a company) STO from one manufacturing to another manufacturing Plant. Steps involved are
ME21N: STO Creation with doc type UB
    VL10B: Outbound Delivery
    VL02N: PGI (Mvt Type 641)
    VF01: Billing
    J1IIN: Excise Invoice
MIGO: Goods Receipt in Receiving Plant
The problem is while doing Goods Receipt (MIGO) wrf Outbound Delivery in Receiving Plant when we refer the Excise Invoice (created in J1IIN) we are getting an error message as u201CExcise Invoice 2000000033 31.05.2011 of Vendor 1300003 does not exist for Referenceu201D
Customer and Vendor master for the plants as well as STO configuration seems to be complete but still we are getting this error message.
Can anyone provide some idea how to resolve this?
    Thanks in advance

  • Stock value for stock transfer from depot (RG23D) to manufacturing (RG23A)

    Dear all,
The forum posts that I found are all relating to the process of how to do stock transfer from depot plant to manufacturing plant.
The question I want to post is relating to the transferred stock value.
When stock first goes into depot plant (RG23D), the excise duties (CVD, Education Cess, Higher Education Cess, Secondary Education Cess) are all inventorized. However, in manufacturing plant (RG23A), they are CENVATABLE and not inventorized.
In the transfer of stock from depot to manufacturing, how can we split out the stock value from depot and take out the excise duties to CENVAT in manufacturing plant?
If using Stock Transfer process (move stock from depot to manufacturing),
    1. Create Stock Transfer Order in ME21N using UD order type
            no accounting
    2. Create DO in VL10B and goods issue
During goods issue, moving average of stock in depot plant, will increase stock with the same value in manufacturing plant and reduce the stock value in depot plant. How can we reduce the stock value transferred to manufacturing plant by the original excise duties amount, and pass this amount into J1IEX? Is it done in this step or later steps?
Dr Stock into manufacturing plant  [this value by right, should be reduced as it consists of original excise duties in RG23D?]
            Cr Stock from depot plant
    3. J1IJ- RG23D selection for excise invoice for delivery at depot
        no accounting
    4. VF01 for proforma invoice
       no accounting
    5. MIGO into manufacturing plant (capture excise invoice)- part 1 register. the excise duties can be manually keyed in based on the original RG23D entries when stock is first brought into originating depot plant
         no accounting
    6. Enter Incoming Excise Invoice by J1IEX
         Dr CENVAT Input AED
         Dr CENVAT Input BED
         Dr RG23A ECess
         Dr RG23A SHECess
               Cr CENVAT clearing
    7. Question: Where to Debit CENVAT clearing? In normal domestic purchase process of raw materials into manufacturing plant, Dr CENVAT clearing will be posted during MIRO time.
If this process is not the correct way to do, please advise the standard SAP recommended way to transfer from depot to manufacturing plant.
    Thank you in advance.

You have to add the Excise duty condition types as a Delivery cost Pricing condition types in STO Pricing procedure and have used them in STO. In Pricing procedure, there is no concept of Deductible and Non Deductible. So, what ever the Delivery cost condition you add in Pricing procedure, the amount gets loaded on to the Material cost..To avoid this, a negative condition type needs to be inserted in Pricing procedure with a different accrual key.
You have to add One Positive condition and One Negative Condition type for the same. Negative condition type is to reduce the condition value from the Material cost during GI.
Try this scenario in development server and revert back with your observations.

  • Open Letter to Companies Selling/Manufacturing Monitors *sigh*

I just wanted to ask if anyone ever intends to make better screen resolutions?
Over the last ten years, resolutions have been yielding bigger and bigger pixels (fewer PPI), despite advances in video cards, LED technology, and operating systems.
I understand many users don't grasp the concept that the DPI setting in their display options adjust the scale of their GUI. I have no kind words for those people, because they have needlessly wrecked the market for everyone else. But to a growing customer base of geeks who like their graphics to be crisp, please tell me somone has some intention of creating something larger than silly 1080p for laptops and normal-sized monitors.
I have a laptop that is 7 years old (15.4" 1920x1200)--if I bought a new one, I would have to downgrade the screen quality significantly. I have two 23" 2048x1152 monitors that are both no longer sold--if I were to replace them, I would have to downgrade. Something is wrong with this picture. This is like new video cards performing at fewer FPS, or hard drives with slower RPM, or top-of-the-line CPUs with fewer GHz that what the made SEVEN years ago. Seven. Seven YEARS ago, in an industry known for rapid advancements. GPUs on average support up to or beyond 2560x1600. That's some room for improvement . . . Been there for a looong time.
I don't care if 16:10 aspect ratio dies, but at least replace it with something better instead of worse. If someone (talking to you, Lenovo) should EVER increase resolution instead of decreasing it, please let me know. When that day occurs, I'll be in the market for a new laptop and probably a new monitor (or 3).
Thanks. . . . Hear back from you in another ten years? Or will the precious 1080p get replaced with 720p by then?
P.S. You people who can't figure out how to scale your GUI DPI . . . I hate you. . . . >.< You set an entire industry back at least 10 years. And even if I could understand people complaining about the 1920x1200 on a 15.4" laptop . . . what about a 23" monitor??!! My 2048x1152 are awesome, but they could be so much better--and they're still better than anyone manufactures anymore.

I've read too many reports in the media from people more highly credentialed than Mr. Johnson to the contrary.
The analogies and comparisons are still way off. Production didn't get cheaper, the phone didn't get upgraded, no carrier's are subsidizing, retailer's are not discounting. Never has the MSRP of CD-ROMs, nor cellphones, nor HDTV's dropped this quickly in history.
I'm tired and going to bed. But here's your assignment. Apple's price decrease rate is 33.3% in 67 days. What would a $10,000 item cost at that rate in one year?
Actually product advancement and innovation are very much the central issue here. Apple has effectively "upgraded" the 4GB unit to 8GB and reduced the price by $100. It's all in how you look at it.
The real issue of innovation and development has yet to be seen, but the recent price drop is an indicator that Apple already has something "in the shoot" to be released soon.
I was thinking it might take a year for a new version of the iPhone to be announced. Yet, with the recent price drop, it seems they may be lowering the price on the original unit to make room for a new one. Which is my point exactly. Apple is so fast at innovating that they already have something new to release (that's my prediction).
They can't release something new and sell the old units if the "something new" and the "something old" are at the same price. It makes sense that the 8GB unit would drop to $400 and the new one will be $600.
