Replace a defective iphone 5 with a 5s?

My iPhone 5 hasn't been working for a week now. I brought it to my apple store and they say there might be a battery problem or a hardware problem but they can't do anything about it since it's still under warranty and they say I should bring it back to the store where I brought it from as I might get a new one replaced. I can't do that now since I'm away for summer. But I was wondering if it's possible to replace it with a 5S if I'm willing to pay a little extra? Thanks.

    It is my understanding that if you delete the account per the instructions below, you will be able recreate, but you will NOT have access to the prior BBM contacts.

    You have to remember either the BlackBerryID password, or the secret question answer. Without either, you're stuck.
    Your choices are:
    --Use another email account to create an entirely new BlackBerryID (with which you will lose access to any purchased apps using the "forgotten" first BlackBerryID, or
    --Find the initial email you were sent to confirm the initial BlackBerryID, and in it is a link to click to cancel and delete the account. Click on that, delete the account and then you can use that same email to create an entirely new account.

    To return an iOS product requires a valid receipt. You have 30 days to return an iPhone. The iPhone must have all original packaging & accessories and be in new condition. Apple may charge a restocking fee on a returned iPhone.
    If the iPhone was bought from a 3rd party, their regulations for returns would apply.

The phone was doing all these random things like mis-sensed my typing really badly, jumping out to the main screen and even called the person I was texting. While it's on lock screen, I could not slide to unlock it, I had to use my finger scan to access my phone in the end. The phone went normal again once I got the charge unplugged, but it went crazy again once I got it plugged in. I truely believe it's something wrong with the phone rather than the charger. Can I replace my current phone with a new one in this case?

    Take it back. This is a warranty/purchase issue. We are just users here.

    The sleep/wake button on my 16GB iPhone 5 only functions if pressed on the left side of the button. A replacement will definately be needed but I would like to upgrade to at least the 32GB model. Is Apple only able to replace devices with the exact model or is it possible to upgrade the replacements?

I purchased this iPhone on a AT&T store, and they unlocked it for me (I`m from Brazil and paid full price at the time to get it unlocked). Can I get it replaced anyway in any Apple Store, by a new Unlocked phone, just by bringing the phone IMEI and Serial Number? Since it`s an iPhone 5 it`s obvious that it`s still under the 1 year warranty.

    they just replaced mine because the sleep / wake button was not working properly and i didnt have my receipt and they never asked any questions, they just replaced it under the warranty, the whole experiance was excellent

    Hehe not a chance. There have been a few that got a new 3GS as a replacement but even those are rare.

    iPhone 5 replacement? I had a defective iPhone 5. Brought from apple online. Took back to apple retail. Got given a refurbished model. Why won't try give me a new one as I've only used it for 3 weeks. I don't like I have a refurbished model and I like to keep the original box so that when I go to sell the iPhone next year, it'll hold it's value better with the serial number matches up.

    If apple determines that the damage to the phone was accidental then they may not help.  I suggest you make an appointment at an apple store and have them evaluate it.  That is the only way you will find out if they will replace it for you

  • I was eligible for replacement for my iphone 5 under the sleep/wake button program. Took it to apple store and they declined saying hardware failure. I am baffled whether apple is serious about customers. They manufacture defective goods and we are stuck!

    The issue started just out of warranty. Had powering on problem and did not want to spend money on repair. After that the phone crashed and refused to power on for 4 months. Now I am eligible for repair but apple store declined saying it is a hardware problem and beyond repair. I am not able to comprehend the attitude of Apple. Obviously manufacturing sub standard products is their fault and we are paying heavy price!!
    The company is obviously gonna lose in the long run!!

    If the phone was not operating as its supposed to initially you could of had the phone replaced under the 1Year Warranty. Apple is only Fixing phones with strictly "sleep/wake" button issues. i.e. if your phone has other issues other than "sleep/wake" you must fix those on your own (if out of warranty) prior to apple fixing the sleep/wake. However if your device is under warranty they will give you a new phone.

    No. Apple will replace your iPhone only with an indentical model. If you want your iPhone to be a different color, consider a skin; those are available in a multitude of colors and patterns.
    And just FYI, there are many causes of short battery life other than a hardware defect. Apps such as the Facebook app can use a lot of battery. While you may indeed have a failing battery, you may want to try restoring your iPhone to factory settings and running with just the Apple apps for a while and then evaluate your battery life before concluding that there's a hardware problem.
