Replace a Frame without losing content

I am in yearbook as an editor and have to have these pages finished within the next 5 days I have 34 pages of senior mug pictures that have been flowed using our publishers flowing program. I need to replace the frames from their basic square frames with a frame i made using a clipping path. I was wondering if there is a way i can copy over the square frame but keep the content and have it show in the clipping path frame. Any programs or scripts that might be helpful i can use. Please help me from cutting the picture and pasting into for 490 pictures.

There's two ways a script could go about this:
You can change the path of an existing frame, but the script would have to know exactly what the path is supposed to look like. It might be able to figure out the shape of the path from your sample.
You can duplicate the custom frame to the location of the square frame and move the contents into the new custom frame and remove the original.
Either method would work, and I don't have the time right now to write either...

I need really simple instructions as I've had a bad run with my laptop the last month.
I have re-installed iTunes,it currently has no content in it
all my music, photos etc had been saved to a an external Hardrive (phew)so I'm not concerned about losing them during a sync, but how do I sync my Ipad without losing the applications... The last back up saved was in June when I still had an ipad1
I tried to back it up last night but kept getting the prompts something to the effect of "iPad can only be synced to 1 iTunes library, syncing will erase all content and replace with content on this iTunes library".
Help please,, I've already lost endless hours fixing my PC issues,so I'm not game to attempt this issue without guarantee I won't lose everything, need a simple solution that anyone can follow as my brain has information overload!!! Lol

This should help you out. I copied this from another discussion a while back. Here is the original discussion link.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
This is what is in the discussion. It really doesn't get any easier than this.
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.

  • Organizing multiple devices and accounts without losing content

I have multiple apple devices ( 3 mac book pro's, 2 iphones and 2 itouch ) all under one roof.  I associated all of these devices under one apple ID and my Itunes and Icloud account is quite a mess.  I need to separate the three MacBook's so that each of them will synch with a single iphone or itouch.  How do I do this without losing content purchased under the original apple ID ?  ie., My macbook-my iphone, my wife's macbook-her iphone, my daughter's macbook-her itouch.

If you want to take a big iTunes library and make separate libraries, the best way is to give each computer a copy of the full library, and let the person delete what they don't want.  When they each have their library the way they want it, they can sync their own device.
Not sure what you want to do with the accounts.  Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently associated with the account from which it was originally purchased, and there has never been a way to change it.

  • Need to update iOS version without losing content

One of our users has an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.5. Their PC at home which they use to synchronise music, photos, etc is broken and they need to upgrade to iOS 5.1, which I could do here in the office, but iTunes says "all content" would be lost.
How can I update their iPhone to iOS 5.1 without losing any content?

    You cannot.
The iPhone is designed to sync to one and only one library.
Attempts to sync (which is required to update) will wipe the content from the device and replace it with content from the new library.
They need to fix or replace their home pc and then upgrade.

  • How do I "unlock" a template without losing content?

I want to make changes to a template that seems to be "locked." I did not create the template. When I deleted the green template coding for editable regions, it "unlocked" the template but it also made all of my content disappear. I'm looking for a way to unlock the template (in order to make changes) without losing the content.

Changes to a template should be made only in the .dwt file that is stored in the Templates folder.
The only changes you can make to a child page (one created from a template) are in the editable and/or optional regions. If you don't want the template to apply to the child page any more, select Modify > Templates > Detach from Template. Once you do that, you can edit anything, but changes made to the master template will no longer be reflected in the page that you detached.

  • Changing apple ID without losing content.

I am having to change apple ID since I changed internet (email) provider. I have gone into set up a new Id: but when I look at Itunes account it is still listing underprior name; also if I go on ipod to download I get a prompt to enter password to the old account. I have not restarted computer since I entered new email adress as apple ID; I am afraid I am going to lose all of my content. Any suggestions?
    Kelly

All your content is saved to you computer it's self so u shouldn't lose anything.  However, when in doubt back it up.  Do a back up of your content just to give yourself leave of mind that way you have it if it does get lost.  I changed my account without losing anything.  U should be fine

  • Stop Syncing without Losing Content

I'd like to stop syncing my Apple TV without losing the content. Other than unplugging my ethernet cable, is there a way to do this?

I put my mac to sleep before leaving for work and it was still synching. This stopped it from synching.
What will happen the next time I try to synch? Will it start where it left off? Or does it have to start all over again?

  • Is It Possible To Update to iOS 5 Without Losing Content?

    Hi everyone,
My iPhone 3GS was originally synced with my Power Mac G3 iTunes 8.2.1. The hardware was pretty old and wouldn't allow for updates. I have recently purchased the mac mini (mid July 2011) and updated to the latest iTunes, 10.5. I was trying to update my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5 software but iTunes warned me that my music and apps would be lost because it wasn't originally synced with this version of iTunes or something of the sort. How can I update to iOS 5 without losing any apps and my music which wasn't purchased but imported into iTunes 8.2.1?
    Thanks everyone for your help...

Hi miller.p and thanks for responding,
That's a whole nother issue...I have the Power Mac G3 and mac mini connected to one monitor and keyboard using a KVM Switch. I tried using an ethernet crossover cable to transfer the data from the G3 to the mini using Migration Assistant but it says the G3 needs to update to Lion. Mac OS 10.4.11 is the latest software update for the G3.
I have the G3 data backed up on a Western Digital MyBook external HD via firewire 400 but the mini is firewire 800 however, I did see a 9-pin to 6-pin FireWire 800/400 cable by Belkin. Could that be used to transfer the data from the HD to the mini? Sorry if that was too much information...I will check out the link. Thanks...Oh, what about the apps? They are all free downloads, do I have to download them again r does the same apply for them as the music?

  • Untread Text Frames without losing text in the second frame

I probably not gonna use the right terms to express my question because I don't have an english version of ID. I'm sorry for that.
If you, for example, import a text document into your column-based layout, you are able to automate the text flow and it will flow into the columns. At the end of each frame there's a text-handler (threading text) that shows you where the text continues in the next frame.
I wanna know if there's a possibility to unthread text AND leave the text into the first column and the rest of the text into the next column WITHOUT being connected like before. If I try this I get a red plus-sign at the end of the first frame showing me there more text and the next frame ends up without text.
I can cut the text from behind the plus-sign and paste it into the next frame, okay. But there's something in my memory telling me it was already possible with Pagemaker to simply disconnect frames and leave the text intact.
I hope somebody understands my question?

    Salah Fadlabi wrote:
Try to open Object style with no document open, double click on none then close and open indesign. Every frame after this process will be without border.
This is only correct for new created document, not for existing ones. If the problem existis in an existing document you have to change the default style with no object selected.
I would strongly recommend to create its own basic styles for each category and load them into the several style panels to have always styles with the same name in every document which makes exchange of items easier.
Default Object styles are those with the small rectangle graphic at the right. The one with the T ist for Text frames, the one without T for Image Frames.

  • How to separate drives in a mirrored RAID without losing contents?

Perhaps senseless questions (non-issues), I'm not sure. Better to ask than to regret a stupid move ...
I have an external mirrored RAID array (running 10.4.11) which is generally my startup volume(s) for a G4 Mini. Obviously, I can also boot from the internal drive.
    1. What happens if I disconnect them from each other (firewire cable) ? Is the drive that remains connected to the CPU still accessible?
    2. If I (somehow?) "Undo" the mirrored RAID set, is data on either or both drives lost or do the contents remain intact and accessible?
    3. If drive contents remain intact and accessible, then how does one "undo" a RAID set" ? Disk Utility "Help" and several forum searches have not been helpful (void of all pertinent content).
My apologies if these are "stupid" questions and thanks in advance for informed responses.

    thanks - nice to know
However - when I open DU, select this raid set, choose the RAID tab, I see NO option of "delete" - only "erase" button. Perhaps I need to (re)start from a different drive.
IMO neither one of those terms is exactly intuitive for uncoupling a mirrored set. I do not want to delete or erase anything, just uncouple them so they are once again independent drives (without loss of content). BTW, since I typically boot (start) from the current set, I presume that either drive (once decoupled) will also be boot-able with preferences etc. persevered!

  • HD failed, now I can't sync my phone without losing content on my phone

My Dell laptop HD crashed. Dell replaced it and after I reinstalled iTunes I can't sync my phone. I have authorized "the new" computer even though it is the same computer just with a new HD.
When I try to sync my phone iTunes tells me that it wants to delete my applications and music from my phone and replace it with what is on my computer, which is nothing currently. How can I get my phone to sync with my computer and not lose any of my data on my phone?

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with ONE computer at a time. ANY attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first deleted from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be defeated.
Your photos & music you ripped on your own will have to be extracted from your phone using third party software, as Apple makes no provision for this since it's expected that you maintain a backup. Your photos were reduced in resolution when synced to your phone to display on the phone. There is no way to recover their full resolution. You need to recover these photos & music before you proceed.
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/
Next, disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected, under preferences in itunes, which in Windows I believe is under the edit menu.
Next, go up to Store>Authorize this computer.
Next, make sure you have at least one contact & one event in whatever supported program you use for that purpose on your computer(Outlook, Windows Address Book). They can be fake, it doesn't matter.
Next, connect your phone. DO NOT SYNC at this point.
Right click the phone in the device pane & select "Reset Warnings".
Next, go up to "File", "Transfer purchases made on this ipod/iphone to this computer".
Your purchased music/apps will then be transferred to itunes. Music you ripped on your own will not. You'll have to restore that from your backup, which apparently doesn't exist, or use third party software already referenced.
Next, right click again & select BACKUP.
Next, restore your phone from the backup you just made.
This must be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content. Which is selected from the various tabs. You should get a prompt regarding your contacts & calendar asking to "merge" or "replace". Select "merge"
That's as good as it gets.
This is what's included in the backup you'll make & restore from:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
This is how to restore from that backup, as already referenced, when prompted to create another backup before you restore, decline as we will use the backup we made when we started:

  • Taking info from Column and Pasting to another Column without losing content?

    Hi Numbers Masters,
I am working on an e-commerce store CSV spreadsheet.
    For instance:
I have column "A" which is a description of a product and column "B" which is a SKU Number. I want the SKU number column info to be added to Column "A" without deleting the description content in Column "A". There is different values for each SKU number in column B and different content for info in Column "A".
If I copy and paste I lose the info in Column "A" and am just left with info from Column "B".
    THANK YOU

In Excel I would do this
Save a copy of the file.
Concatenate the text by creating a formula in a third column that "adds" the contents of A and B.
    Then inspect the column
    I expect Numbers works similarly.
Use the & function to add strings (Descriptions or SKU)
    Something like this
    A1 & B1
    A1 & " " & B1
    gives you a space
    A1 & " -" & B1
    gives you a dash

  • How to sync iPhone to a different iTunes library without losing content on phone

I've been using iTunes on my Macbook Air mostly for podcasts, which I periodically clean up to conserve disk space. I had a separate iTunes library on an iMac that holds my complete music collection. My iPhone is synced to the library on the Macbook Air. I just recently purchased an external hard drive and moved my whole iTunes library to it, combined with the few albums that I imported from the MacAir library, where the whole shebang is now available via Airport Extreme to both the iMac and Macbook Air, i.e., both computers can now access the same complete iTunes library, and the podcast-only library has been deleted from the Air. But now my phone won't sync to the library on the external drive. I'm not getting the "Sync and Erase" message that I've read about, but I can't drag content onto my phone, either. How do I get the phone to recognize this new library, and will I have to erase all of the music on the phone to do it?

It would be cleaner to simply sync the phone with the new library.  You can manually add music to the phone but you will perpetually be having the problem you cannot do a proper sync.
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202 - You can manage your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers as long as you have set the device to "Manually manage music."  -  E.g., adding music from a second computer to an i-device. Additional information about switching sync mode - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4435531 and manually adding in iTunes 11 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4597408
