'Replace all' in the code window

Dear all -
We have a problem with UK pound signs (that are hard-coded into our code) being converted to ¿¿ (two upside-down question-marks) when a DDL script is run via SQL*Plus. I'm looking into what I need to SET in order to prevent this from happening.
Anyway, that issue aside, when I have a package littered with ¿¿s, I generally do a 'replace all' in the Object Browser to restore them to £s.
This works for a lot of instances, but a significant proportion get incorrectly replaced.
Where I started out with '£' (and it was converted to '¿¿'), I often end up with '¿£, so that the replace seems to be happening a character after it should.
Is this a known problem, and can it be fixed?

Before we hastily conclude that this is a software defect and not a configuration issue, let me ask you:
1) What is your database character set?
2) What is your DAD character set?
3) Have you applied the PL/SQL Web Toolkit patch?

Why is the code window deleting strings of characters from my code?

It seems that selection of text in the code window is aggressivley stripping out sections of code text. Also, on returning to the code window it may delete a portion of code thus rendering the code useless.
Very frustrating

If I click on to another code window
and then return it will insert a space and then immediatly delete it. Sometimes it deletes a section of text. If I have a selection of text it will always delete it.
Sometimes drag selecting the text will delete it on mouse up.
I'm using a Wacom tablet with the latest drivers. I thought it maybe connected having seen a comment on your forums with an issue on using Photoshop with a Wacom.

Obviously, now the Code has a syntax error. When I come to undo it takes several undos to get the code back to its original state. It seems to have inserted a space in the line of code beneath the original selected text and deleted the space - these are now all undo steps.
To get round this I have to park the i-beam on a blank line of code as I move to other code windows

I am having a problem with this update where the code window is blank and where I cannot add anything/ The text does appears in the design or live window.
I just use DW to format text that will go into Edge Animate.

You're iPhone was probably set to automatically sync with your iTunes upon plugging it in. Best option is to restore from a backup, either on iCloud or your computer.

Is there a quick way to "fit all" in the arrange window?

Does LP8 have a quick way to fit everything in the arrange window from any magnification level? Something comparable to double-clicking on the magnifying glass in Pro Tools?
For instance, let's say you've made your tracks very tall by control-down-arrowing a bunch of times. Now you want to quickly go back to having every track header showing in the arrange window. At first I thought that the key command "control-option-z" (zoom to fit selection horizontally and vertically) would work if you command-a selected all regions first. That does work horizontally, but if I have a region at the bottom of my track headers, that command does not seem to work vertically. The region at the bottom is still out of view.
One thing I tried was going to the key commands dialogue box and assigning option-2 to "save as zoom 1" and option-3 as "recall zoom 1." But when I start with everything visible in the arrange window, then hit option-2 to save that zoom level, then use the magnifying glass a bunch of times to make everything big, then hit option-3, it does not take me back to the original zoom level that I "saved" as option-2.
If the only way to get back to square one is to start there, then control-option-marquee-select to magnify a few times, then control-option-click on the background the same number of times to get back to where you started, well, OK, I will live with that.
But I am thinking there must be an easy way to "fit everything in window" with just one click, or maybe some kind of key-modified click.

OK, thanks for the advice, Erik. I was hoping not to have to use the zoom sliders or the stretch scrollbars method, since it's not as fast as a one-click or double-click method.
One other possibility I was investigating today was saving a screenshot and then recalling it. The manual says:
Saving and Recalling Screensets
Screensets are numbered from 1 to 99 (using only the 1 to 9 computer keys—the 0 key
is assigned to the Stop command by default).
You don’t need to save screensets with an explicit command. It happens automatically,
as soon as you switch to another screenset. Thus, without any effort, your current
working view is always stored as the current screenset.
To create a screenset:
1 Press a numerical key, say 7.
For two-digit screensets, hold down Control while entering the first digit.
2 Arrange your windows as desired, including changes to zoom settings, relationship of
the Arrange area and editor areas, open or closed Inspector and Media or Lists areas,
and so on.
To recall, or switch between screensets, do one of the following:
m Input the number of the desired screenset (1 to 9).
I thought that had real possibilities. Make the arrange window the size of my whole project to begin with, then save it as, say, screenset 3. Then if I zoom in on a wave form or change the size of everything, just recall screenset 3 to get back. Unfortunately, it apparently constantly keeps track of all your changes, so if you zoom within screenset 3 and then try to recall the screenset 3 that you saved, it just takes you to where you are currently, after all the zooming. I don't understand why Logic thinks that helps you, but that's how it seems to work.
Anyway, I've spent enough time on it. I give up. I guess I will use control-left-arrow, control-right-arrow. Unfortunately, you cannot do them both at the same time, it seems, which would be faster. Oh, well.

I am using a MacBook Pro and when I open a new tab in Firefox it opens to Trovi. Mozilla has a forum but solutions are all for the PC/Windows. How do I remove it?

I am using a OSX MacBook Pro running Mavericks version 10.9.4 and using Firefox 30.0. My Mac has recently been hijacked by a program called "Trovi". Whenever I open a blank new tab in Firefox the tab opens it opens with Trovi. The Mozilla forums offer support but all solutions are for users who run Windows. How do I remove Trovi from my Mac? Please help.

[Solved] When I open multiple Firefox windows an orange pull down tab appears and I cannot exit from any single window. I have to exit all of the Firefox windows to close one.

I like to open several Firefox windows when I am browsing the internet. Since mi reinstall of windows XP with sp3 I installed Firefox 5.0.1. Now when I open multiple windows they kind of window in a window and I get this orange pull down menu. I can no longer close any one single window. I click the lower of the two top right X's to close the window and all the tabs in that window, but nothing happens. I also don't like the look and feel of the orange pull down menu

How can I import contacts from Snow Leopard iMac to my Mavericks MBP without replacing all of the contacts.

*** Updated - FIgured this out right after I posted... I simply selected all contacts on the iMac, exported as a .vcf then dragged that into the MBP contacts ***

I have a MacBook Pro (MBP) running Mavericks... syncs contacts via iCloud with my iOS devices. My iMac is an original intel model from 2006 which can only run Snow Leopard. I have many contacts on that iMac that I would like to copy into the contacts on my MBP.
I used the 'Address Book Archive' feature on my iMac - transferred that to a flash drive then tried to import into the MBP contacts at which point it said it would replace the contents on my MBP... something I do NOT want to do.
Does anyone have a way of bringing all of my iMac contacts in to the MBP without replacing?

How can I search the code in the code editor window?

I work quite a bit out of the code window to work across multiple symbols and timelines at the same time. I also define and edit some global functions and variables. I'd love to be able to search the code, but I don't see a way to do that.
It would be great if the code window had a lot of the same functionality as Adobe Edge Code CC. Highlighting, find and replace, autocomplete, etc...

Well, there is no search capability for now but you could copy paste your code in something like notepad++ and do your search there then copy/paste the result back in Animate.

I think there is a problem with the latest version of Firefox. When you minimize one window (doesn't matter how many tabs) on Mac, it automatically minimizes all of the other open windows. This never used to happen.

Whenever you have multiple windows open - say one is your Gmail account and the other is a bunch of pages you're using at work - and then you go to minimize the window with Gmail but intend to continue working on the other open windows. Using Command-M (the minimize shortcut for Macs) unfortunately now sends all open windows to the minimize bar in the lower right. Which means - every time I go to look at Gmail, then put it away, I have to reclick to open all of the other windows I was working in. Can this be fixed? It never used to happen.

Because OS X 10.4* does not have what is needed by Firefox 4.0 and newer.
Linux users are in a similar boat also as they need certain package versions within the last few years as LTS distros (with outdated packages from 4+ years ago) like CentOS is a bit screwed on newer applications like Firefox 4.0. By your logic Mozilla should also support Linux packages from 10 years ago also which would be a really ridiculous thing to do.
I think only the 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7 is really supported or will be rather when it comes to 64-bit builds (still not officially supported yet).
Mozilla is still supporting Firefox 3.6 with updates, in which 3.6.16 can be found at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

Prevent Find and Replace from closing after clicking "Replace All"

With the latest release of Dreamweaver CC (2014.1.1), there's been a minor change to the way Find and Replace works. I use Find and Replace a lot to clean up and delete code, so I might do many searches in a row to get things tidy. With the new version however, the Find and Replace window always closes after clicking "Replace All", which is very cumbersome. I need to open it up again, and it doesn't remember the text I entered to use as a replacement.
Does anyone know if there's a way to prevent this window from closing after doing a Replace All? The previous version of Dreamweaver would keep it open and remember the text either until I changed it or I closed Find and Replace myself.
Any pointers that would get me a little closer to the previous version's functionality would be appreciated!

You need to do a find/change for each code individually, but it should be scriptable to take the .csv file and use it to load the find and change values. I'd try asking this over in the scripting forum: InDesign Scripting

What is the code to load a .swf file in AS3 on the same layer?

I'm new to AS3 and am trying to figure out the code for loading a .swf file on the same layer of the same page, thereby replacing all of the information. I don't want to put it on layer 2, etc. Another easy thing I can do in AS2 but am struggling with in AS3.

There are no 'layers' in AS3 - there is just the display list. You can use addChildAt to add things at a specific depth - thereby placing it behind or above something, but if you just use addChild it goes on top of whatever is currently there...
Anyway - to answer your question, you can load a .swf with a Loader object like so:
var l:Loader = new Loader();
l.load(new URLRequest("myFile.swf"));
addChild(l);
You can wait for complete like was shown, but you don't have to. And this will not 'replace' anything - it just loads myFile.swf on top of anything currently being shown. If you want to 'replace' what's there you need to remove it first:

removeChildAt(0);
