Replace apple tv 3 screen saver images?

Is there a way to replace the default nature screen saver images with my own?

Seasons Greetings
Yes, choose the photos you wish to share from iTunes on your computer (file > homesharing > choose photos...) select apply/sync, then select the photos you have just chosen from the screensaver settings on the Apple TV.

  • Problems with screen saver image quality

Just got a MPB 15 inch. Very happy with it but have a small problem with the screen saver. I use my i Photo folders as the source for screen saver images. Some photos are shown in very good quality but others are very poor - as if low res. The original images are all of the same high quality. Seems to occur whichever video setting is used under power saving. A minor issue I now but any ideas?

Hi, Mark. Apparently some of the photos being used are low-resolution thumbnails, not full-resolution images.
What version of iPhoto do you have, and which OS version are you running? On my MBP running 10.5.6 and iPhoto 7.1.5, "All folders" is not an option in the Screensaver pane of System Prefs, so I don't know what you're actually choosing. But if I select "Pictures" (which refers to the Pictures folder in my Home folder), then the screensaver uses every .jpg file that it finds in any of the several iPhoto Libraries inside my Pictures folder. The thumbnails created by iPhoto are .jpgs, so they get used by the screensaver along with full-size high-resolution images.
The solution is not to select a folder that contains any thumbnails.

  • I use Apple TV's screen saver with a file in my photo library.  If I install newest update - will that change anything with my using this favorite feature?  I have just under 4000 photos in that file.  What is the total # of photos it can utilize?

I use Apple TV's screen saver with a file in my photo library.  I believe it is first generation or second Apple TV - not the newest one.
If I install newest update - will that change anything with my using this, my favorite feature?  I have just under 4000 photos in that file.
And, what is the total # of photos it can utilize?  If I keep adding photos - is there a limit to the # it will utilize?

Thank you Alan and  know you are right. I really can do all I need with my netbook and ereader and do not need the ipad. I think I just wanted something new and felt I may enjoy using it a lttle more than the netook. But it would be a waste just to buy one when I donlt acutally need it  And, donl't think it is worth the extra money for me the get the 4g wireless capability since I doubt I would really need it often.
I may treat myself to the Ipad for the color, touchpad and fun to use but it is very expensive considering how little it will do for me no more than the things I want it for. It woudl be and expensive luxuray, I can do without. I actually  need t learn how to use more of the function avaiable first.  Maybe I should take up playing games and learning to take digital pictures so I can at least load them. If I could learn to do that and take a decent picture, I could start selling back all the "stuff" I have purchased on ebay. haha - I do have a nice doll collection, I would like to sell. I just do not have room for anything else. That was the primary purpose for the Kindle Ereader I bought and enjoy so much,
But, I will hold onto the thought for a while and see how it goes and what other comments I get, If I think I cannot live without it, then I will have to rethink which one to buy, I coud get the 32 g if I did not have to pay for the 4g wireless. And, if I knew I could get help to teach me how to use and enjoy all the functions, I would give it more serious consideration. My granddaugther got one for Christmas and that was what got me interested in it. I love the size of the screen and it had good color and was fast. She even had an application where she could write her notes and it would convert into typed words. That was a neat feature, If you could print it?
But thanks again for your comments and I will check later to see I get any other feedback.
    Sunny:)

  • Lion install did not update background/screen saver images

I installed of Lion on my Macbook and it did not update the background/screen saver images with the new ones, anyone know why?

Check your Macintosh HD/Applications/ folder for a program called "Install OS X Mountain Lion" and then open this to run the installer.

  • Anyway to get screen saver images as desktop backgrounds?

I have looked through my library under screen savers but nothing is there. I want to get one of the nature screen saver images to be my desktop background picture. Any ideas?

Please provide some information about how you are looking. With my MBP it's as simple as:
System Preferences, Desktop & Screen Saver, Nature and then choose the picture I want. You can also link it to any other picture library you might have such as iPhoto or if you want to download screen savers with different art there are many many sites available. For example:

  • Scroll Bar missing on Safari web pages and unfamiliar screen saver image

I recently upgraded my OS X from Panther to Tiger v. 10.4.11 and upgraded to Safari 3.1.2. Now the scroll bar down the right side is missing from the open web page in Safari. Where did it go and how do I get it back?
Also, unfamiliar images appear, something like a screen saver when I leave my computer for a
few minutes without putting it to sleep or shutting it down. It's a black/white/gray portrait of
a woman and as the picture moves around the screen, the image magnifies. I have no idea
where this image came from nor how to get rid of it. Any ideas?

Hi Busy1, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.
The combo update for PowerPC-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
The combo update for Intel-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Repair Permissions after re-install, then reboot again.
If all the above do not resolve the problem, then it's time for an Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Might try this for Scroll Bars...
    http://lifehacker.com/5040043/add-double-scroll-arrows-to-both-ends-of-the-scrol l-bar
when I leave my computer for a
few minutes without putting it to sleep or shutting it down...
Check System Preferences>Desktop & Screen Saver>Screen saver Tab for that.

  • Orientation of screen saver images

Hi, my iPhotos has started doing strange things... when the screen saver kicks in some of the images are not orientated correctly..portrait format appears as landscape, it never used to do this, any suggestions on a cure?
I've got over two thousand images on it and the thought of having to sift through all of them is terrifying.
    Thanks

Since I updated to 6.2 my flicker screen saver will not reload/update photos.  I'm stuck with the same 100 photos.  Before it would refresh every time I used Apple TV

Try resetting the PMU and see if that helps.

  • Apple TV 2 screen saver during mixed audio video playlists

With the Apple TV 2nd gen, at some point after an upgrade, the behavior of the screen saver during playing a mixed audio video playlist changed.  It used to be that while songs were playing the screen saver would start, and then as soon as a video item was encountered in the playlist, the screen saver would stop and the video would play. Now the video doesn't play and instead you just get the audio. Pressing menu interrupts the screen saver and then the video plays. What changed? And I want it back to the old functionality.

Same here. It's just started doing this during NetFlix.
    Turned screen saver off now...

  • Mysterious screen saver images... & odd Leopard flaky-ness in general

    Hi Guys,
I have my screen saver set to "pictures folder" as I always have, but now and then a picture will repeat if I happen to be around the mac at the time, with strange zoomed in cartoon type images of fruits, and union jacks and little characters etc superimposed over the images.
I have no idea where these are coming from or how to turn them on or off, anyone else seen the same? They worry me slightly ha! Try it and see!
I have noticed a great degree of flaky-ness in Leopard which I didn't get with Tiger 10.4.11. Tiger was rock solid for me, but I have had several crashes and strange things happen to me. If I try to verify a disk in disk utility it hangs up in definitely; the log sayd it completed the verify, but its like the app hung up. I believe this might be related to me having a bootcamp partition though.
I have had itunes crash a few times also, and had the keyboard act oddly, as if it wasn't fully initialised (the num lock and caps lock LEDs are on and the command key doesn't do anything; a reboot sorts it) - I had a similar thing with the build in isight with Tiger after creating a bootcamp partition and running windows. It seems fine if I go back to my Tiger volume.
I'm starting to wonder if bootcamp leaves the mac hardware in an odd state after you boot up in windows, it seems to be the case for me.
    cheers
    David

I found the shortcut to iPhoto in my pics folder, worry over! Although I can't select "mosaic" for any screen saver - it just crashes system prefs, every time.

  • Screen Saver Image orientation

How can I get my Screen Saver to display pictures from my iPhoto library as they are meant to be seen (oriented correctly as verticals or horizontals)?
My screen saver displays images from my Pictures Folder just as I've selected, HOWEVER, many (not all) of the vertical images display as Horizontals. Meaning, the verticals are displaying sideways. I've tried it with the "crop slides to fit on screen" checked and unchecked - and all manner of different Options to no avail. All the pictures in my iPhoto folder are oriented correctly.

Bear with me, as this issue is a bit complicated and VERY confusing. If you have certain kinds of cameras when you shoot in portrait view the camera makes a note of this fact in the image's metadata tag, the actual pixels are in fact stored in landscape view. When the image is imported using Image Capture, or if you simply mount the card and drag the images into a new folder the actual pixels are STILL in landscape view, but the metadata entry, saying to display in portrait view, is read by some programs, but not by others. If you drag the folder into iPhoto, evidently depending on your settings and which version of iPhoto you have, the original images can stay in the folder you put them in, unaltered in any way, but iPhoto will make a copy and apply the rotation, putting a new copy in the Modified folder. While iPhoto, Preview, and other applications can read the metadata entry and display the images accordingly, other programs can't. Thus if you look at the original folder of images in the Finder you'll see apparently correct thumbnails, but if you open one of the portrait view images in Safari you'll see the actual pixels, which are in landscape view.
If you choose the original folder in Screensaver the portrait view pix will display in landscape, because Screensaver does not read the metadata entry. If you have added the folder of images to iPhoto, and iPhoto has created the modified version (where it has applied the rotation), and you go to the iPhoto section of Screensaver and pick iPhoto album of your photos they should all work correctly.

  • Screen saver images over pictures

I have a couple of questions. When my Mac goes to the screen saver mode it uses random photo's from iPhoto. Occasionally some design, maybe a smiley face, a heart, or something, will be over top of the photo. Any idea's as to how to get rid of these?
My other question is about the same screen saver mode. I have photos coming up that I have deleted from my albums but they still appear on the screen saver.
    Thanks for any help,
    Jim

I am having the same problem. So far, the superimposed flags and faces are endless.
I sure do hope there is a solution. This is not a new problem to the imac. In a google search, someone was describing this same thing a couple of years ago. Any help is appreciated!

  • After updating to 10.7.5, my screen saver images disappeared.

I specifically use Beaches. When I go to system/library/screensavers there is no image there. Where did they go?

So take out the Apple OEM  RAM. Don't use it.
Maybe Lion is tighter (false, it is  still ignorant of some severe RAM problems).
Replace it. Cheap and easy. Sounds like it is failing. It does. FBDIMMs will not last forever. Showing half or not at all is one sign. Running with it can cause other issues as the ECC isn't going to protect you from hardware issue.
Ideal RAM config is 8 DIMMs - offers 17% improvement memory bandwidth  performance
667MHz FBDIMMs are cheap, excellent and 4% 'hit' you would never know about.

Your 16GB from ebay came with Apple approved heatsinks? works fine by itself? that is the first thing to do, and to run AHT and memtest then and  there with just it installed.
Are all the FBDIMMs showing mid-60*C's? they should.
