What sound card to replace Audigy 2 with?

Hi all,
I have been experiencing crashes with my Audigy 2 during gaming as many others have here. Since there is no solution to this (will there ever be?) what card is a comparable replacement to the Audigy 2? I really don't want to use the onboard sound, but I will if I have to. Even worse, I have fairly new creative 6.1 speakers which I probably can't correctly connect to other cards..

You didn't say what BIOS and driver versions you have, but if you haven't already, I would suggest updating the BIOS (to at least 1.5b2) and make sure you have the latest drivers and game patches. I'm betting it will fix your problem.

Hi, I have bios 1.4 (came on the MB). I have all of the latest drivers for video and sound. I also went to Nvidias site and got the latest drivers for our chipset. The only one I don't use is the nvidia IDE driver since many have problems with it. Thanks for the response.

If you are up for the battle that MIGHT transpire with either one of these cards then your welcome to it. EAX will work on games that nati'vely support EAX and the openAL API. Games that are direct sound only will require the ALchemy program to make them work correctly. You can find a list of openAL nati've games on the openAL site...sorry don't have a link for you right now but google it. You might be able to find the list of Direct SOund games that ALchemy works on by going to the ALchemy site as well.
For the most part, stuff is working but I would highly advise you do more research before purchasing any sound cards from Creative. Just check the forums and look under the Vista posts as well as here to get a taste of the issues many are having.

I have a lot of configuration problem with my Windows 7 configuration and my Xtreme Audio Notebook expresscard (gray one). Mostly due to Creative Drivers installation order. For example, right now the Software Update don't detect my card, even if all seems to work nearly fine (popping and crashing on small sound like directory navigation on Win 7).
So I'm asking: What is the best and official way to install those drivers, including the Console Launcher, on Win 7 ?
Do I have to, from a clean Windows 7, to plug my card, wait for Win 7 to detect and donwload drivers, and instal after that my original XP CD drivers coming with the card to have the Console Launcher?
Or: Do I have, from a clean Win 7 configuration, to remove my internet connection to avoid Win 7 to find a drivers, to install first my XP CD comming from Creative (to have the Console Launcher), and after that to install official Win 7 drivers from Creative web site ?
Or, do I have, from a clean Win 7 configuration without any internet connection, to first install official Creative Win 7 drivers for my card, and after that to install "something" from "somewhere"? to get the last Console Laucher application?
Or does Creative made a great full package for my card "a la" Daniel_K for Win 7 I just have to install?
I'm asking because for my XtremGamers I use Daniel_K Drivers and this guys just made it simple and working!

The problem is not that I can not successfully get the games on the ipod, but that all the games(purchased on different computers) cannot coexist on the ipod. The message warns me and states that it will replace the other games I purchased with the games from my current library. How can I fix this?

Audigy 2 ZS Crashes Games, Supreme Commander won't even load a m

I have a Creative Audigy 2 ZS and for some reason it seems to be the reason behind many game crashes. Often the crashes are accompanied by a looping sound after the game even closes. I have uninstalled the dri'ves and reinstalled the original I have from 2005. I tried to change its slot in the motherboard but it still doesn't work correctly. Supreme Commander will not even load the map for instance but if I disable the card it loads fine but then I have no sound to play with. What can be the problem? I have a Dell with
P4 3.0
Gig ram
Nvidia 6800 256 MB

I am also experiencing a problem with Supreme Commander on a SB Audigy 2 card. I get no sound at all or sometimes random buzzing or clicking noise. I think it is likely?an issue with the game since every other title seems to work very well on my system. The wierd thing is that I installed SupCom on my other PC that has a SB Li've 24 Bit card and it works!? Unfortunately the RAM and Video card on the secondary system are not good enough to play with reasonable FPS. Can anyone at Creative tell us if the no sound or crash issue is a title specific one, or if it applies to the Audigy cards? THQ are claiming to be working on a patch, but are a less specific about if the patch will address SB card problems. Thx. Audigy 2 with old dosgames in Windows

I want to run some old dosgames, like Duke Nukem 3D with my Sound Blaster Audigy. Is there a way to do this? Do I need DOS drivers? Where can I get DOS drivers?
A lot of setup programs of those DOS-games ask for settings like:
I/O Address
IRQ
DMA
etc.
How can I find out what the appropriate settings are for my soundcard?

I found out it works with some games, but Duke Nukem 3D you need more then VDMSound alone, but I found some sort of step by step guide how to let it play in windows Xp:

The Audigy 2 ZS has a firewire in place of the db5 jack, but it has a separate db5 game port adapter. The adapter is nothing more than a metal backpanel bracket with the DB5 on it and a cable that connects to the game port jack on the card. The adapter fits in a neighboring PCI slot, and although it doesn't actually use the PCI socket, you can't put a PCI card in that socket along with the adapter. It is a good soundcard with at least a 4-fold improvement in signal-to-noise over the other Audigy and SB Li've cards that I have used. It sounds like the Audigy 2 ZS would work for you, if you can afford that extra PCI slot. Otherwise, you could try to find an Audigy 2 LS. It has the db5 game port on its backpanel bracket.

How to replace one variable with another in large number of queries

I have this situation: our company needs to use one variable instead of another for certain amount of queries.
Is there some way to automatically replace one variable with another for a certain characteristic in big number of queries ( like 150 - 200 ) ? Doing this manually would take lots of time)

you could try (at your own risk) the following:
1. search the technical id (ELTUID) of your variable in table RSZELTDIR
2. see where this variable is used in table RSZELTXREF (by filling RSZELTDIR-ELTUIID in RSZELTXREF-TELTUID)
3. add similar entries for your new variable
4. delete the entries for the old variable (they're part of the key, so you can't simply "change" them)
