Replace cable with alternatives...???

I'm going to get rid of Charter Cable, mainly because we never what TV, only movies...
Is it possible to:
- Download movies from netflix, itunes, etc... to my iphone, ipad or ipod and connect to the tv to watch?
- Rent movies and do the same as above?
Looking for advice, so if you have any, chime in.

  • BI 7.0 Security: Replace SAP_ALL with alternative solution

    Hello,
In an effort to remove SAP_ALL from user accounts in BI 7.0, I need to find an alternative solution for allowing users to create, execute, and delete BEx queries.  Initially, I was thinking of creating two roles, derived from the SAP_ALL template.  One role would allow users to create, execute, and delete queries; the other role would allow users to only execute BEx queries.  Since I'm new to BI 7.0, I'm not quite sure if this is the best approach.  If someone has experience with this scenario, please advise.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Cedric,
You definitely need to move away from SAP_ALL in BI 7.0. The blog mentioned explains how the new features of BI 7.0 work, but I feel your issue is a bit more fundamental. Do you have a security strategy / design for your BI reports that you are trying to deploy?
You need to consider who can access what data in BI as well as which sets of queries. Once you have an idea for that if you look at how the S_RS_COMP authorisation object works, implementing roles with restrictions on that object will achieve restrictions on which users can access which queries.
There are SAP delivered templates for query execution roles, that you can look at to get you a starting point - but you'll still need to having a good naming convention for queries as well as an understanding of where your BI data is stored, to be able to restrict access.
Once you've considered the data and reports, you may need to further restrict information by the use of analysis authorisations on specific characteristics, which is where the blog will help you.

  • Worth replacing my telephone cabling with Cat5?

I shall soon be having Infinity installed in my home office to replace ADSL. My office is in a detached building and I have a 20 metre run of bog standard telephone cable from where the BT cable enters my house to the master socket in my office. Am I likely to see any speed benefit by replacing this with Cat5e cable? My house is approximately 300 metres from the fibre cabinet.
    Thanks

    Hi Disco
As pippincp mentioned, for the network side of things it's best to go for CAT6 to future proof your network. For your office network you can ask the BT engineer to install the new master socket as the service enters the house. That way you will get the best possible VDSL signal. The modem should be sited there. The HH3 could be sited there also or in your office connected via the CAT6.
Yes, you could also use CAT5/6 for the telephone connection to your office. I wanted to standardise comms in my house so I installed CAT5 for the phone to another room in the house. I already had the cat5 wired up for the phone extension. The BT engineer installing my infinity was very helpful and wired the CAT5 directly into the backplate (user) connection side.

  • Replace standard view with alternative view

    Hi Gurus,
In CRM 5.0 we were able to replace a view with a different view (whether it was SAP standard or bespoke) by adding the appropriate substition controller details in the Runtime Framework Profile.
We are now trying to do the same in CRM 2007 but we have not been successful.  I have gone into the SPRO entry "Maintain Runtime Framework Profile" and created "Z_RUNTIME" which is called in the Business Role.  It is set up with the following Work Area Definition:
    Application: BSPWD_BASICS
    View Set Name: WorkAreaHostViewSet
    View Area Name: WorkAreaView
I have tried to replace the following controller as a test to change the standard view:
    BSP Application: ICCMP_BT_TIMERC
    Controller To Be Replaced: SrvTTimeRep
    BSP Application: IC_KNOWS_SEARCH
    Replacement Controller: MainWindow
This hasnt worked, the view SrvTTimeRep still showed.
Just to reiterate, I'm not trying to enhance a view, I am trying to replace it with a totally different one.
Any help offered is greatly appreciated, and will be reqarded with points!  Thanks in advance!
    Andrew G.

    Andrew,
The difference is in CRM 2007 is that you don't modify the runtime framework profile globally.  Instead each application has concept of a component repository.xml that needs to be adjusted.  You actually need to enhance each component where you want to include the view into the viewset.  This will then create a Z-component repository of enhancements for the application, including a copy of the respository.xml file.  You then adjust the repository.xml using the tools provided to replace adjust the viewset defintion.  Now if your view lives in another component you will also have to define the proper component usages to use the view.
I would recommend downloading or getting access to the CRM 2007 OKP materials or taking the CRM UI class which has an example of this method in further detail.
    Take care,
    Stephen

I went to my local Apple store last weekend with a similar issue on my 2007 C2D MBP and they quoted me a price of around £60 (excluding VAT) to replace the optical drive. That's about the same price as the external optical drive a bought for my RMBP.
Alternatively you could just buy a 3rd party external drive if you want to save cash but note that the external Apple superdrive is not compatible with MacBooks with built in optical drives.

  • How to replace Netgear with TC and not lose settings everywhere

I just purchased a TC with my new iMac. I previously used a netgear router for my wireless and a WD hardrive for my time capsule. If I replace the netgear with the TC is there a way of doing so that won't cause me to have to re-enter wireless info and passwords for all my devices that connect to the internet (iphones, ipads, apple tv, wii, other computers, sonos, etc........). I searched and did not see any discussion on this exact issue. Any help would be appreciated!!
I have a 27" iMac and comcast cable with its own modem.

If I replace the netgear with the TC is there a way of doing so that won't cause me to have to re-enter wireless info and passwords for all my devices that connect to the internet (iphones, ipads, apple tv, wii, other computers, sonos, etc........).
    Sorry, but no.
Another thing to think about is that your Netgear device may likely be both a modem and router in one package. If that is the case, you will still need to use the Netgear device, even if you do add the Time Capsule.....since the Time Capsule has no modem on board.

  • I I have a late 2005 power PC G5 that I want to bring back to life.  I need to replace the original hard drive, a Maxtor 250 GB Sata.  Can I replace it with modern drives, SATA 5-6 etc?

I have a late 2005 power PC G5 that I want to bring back to life.  I need to replace the original hard drive, a Maxtor 250 GB Sata.  Can I replace it with modern drives, SATA 5-6 etc?

I knew I should never get rid of my old G5's.  By the way, there is a browser still supported for the PPC, TenFourFox, if you're not using it already.  Go to the Floodgap website (they author it)  download it for free.  The only thing it doesn't support is the Flash plugin, but the browser works great. Other video types are supported.  It's based on Firefox, and runs most of the plugins and add-ons. It's very fast, and beats all other browsers on the browser compatibility and speed test.  That's now my default on my G5's.  Firefox and Safari are no longer supported.  As far as the OS, both Tiger and Leopard were solid for me.  The reason, as I stated before, was iMovie.  The version in Tiger with iLife was far superior to what Apple changed it to.  They 'dumbed it down' for the masses.  Even the newest iLife 11 on my Mac Pro quad isn't is good, in my opinion.  So Leopard should be fine for you.  It's a much larger browser in terms of sheer megabytes and disk space, but it's fine.  As far as getting an OS disc, I'm seeing Tiger for about $45.00, Leopard for $50 - 60.00 on that famous auction site.  As far as RAM, I have 8GB in my G5 2.3, but you should check Activity Monitor when you are running your apps.  See how much green slice you have left (unused RAM).  You might find you don't need eight.  A Mac Pro will grab more free RAM than a PPC machine will.  I have a hard time maxing out use of my 8 on the PPC.  Not true with the eight on my Mac Pro.  The OS doesn't hesitate to grab and use it.  You might be OK with 6GB on your PPC. More will not make you faster, as long as you still have free RAM available.  As far as backup on your resurrected machine:  look for a firewire enabled backup if can.  Use CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) and make a clone backup.  Next time your PPC machine wipes out the hard drive, just take your Firewire drive and plug it into another PPC machine, and you can select it as your boot drive. You'll be back and running in five minutes.  You can also take the physical drive out of your enclosure, and put it in your tower to replace the failed drive, and you'll be back to where you were in less than ten minutes, OS and all.  The PowerMac has an 800 port, so you can do the 800 on the machine to an 800 port on your backup. A firewire 800 to 800 cable is only about $8.00.  It runs nice and fast through the 800 port.  I like the OWC Mercury Extreme enclosures.  They use USB, Firewire 800, and eSATA, so all your options are open.

  • IBook 12 Dual USB Inverter Cable with Reed Switch

I apologise if this should go on an older thread. The last time I was trying to access what was called the angle of death thread it took so long to load I gave up.
My question is: my G3 iBook 12" 500 is working perfectly as a backup for surfing and using Word, with a fairly new replacement hard drive in it. But it has started the backlight blanking out when the screen is moved through 90 degrees. From a recent post I noticed yesterday that must have been moved, I now understood that the problem was usually, or often, to do with the need to replace the Inverter Cable with Reed Switch. I live in the UK and cannot get this done locally, but an online UK firm agrees this is usually the problem and he can fit the part and do the repair which with labour costs and postage will be not far off £100.
Is it fairly safe now to assume that this part is the root of this problem?
    thanks

    Mac Mini G4 1.25 iBook G3 500   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thanks for the reply clarifying the matter. In fact it's now been explained to me that with postage plus vat it goes from £31 plus tax for the part, then £75 plus tax for the labour, then £15 plus tax for the postage, which comes to £142 total.
I think I'll try to keep working at 89 degrees for a bit yet then if I have to I'll buy the part and see if I can get a cheaper way to get it installed. Don't trust myself with such a job.

  • Replace systemd with uselessd?

    Hi,
I heard it's possible to replace systemd with uselessd. How can I do in Archlinux? Can I do either in archlinuxarm?
    Thanks,

@xanb, there are essentially two directions this thread can move in. If you were to build, install and configure uselessd on your own systemd, work out some of its shortcomings, and then post your results here, I suspect you'd get a decent amount of positive feedback from like-minded people who prefer something different from the complete systemd suite.
If, however, you expect someone here to walk you through how to install an unofficial, mangled version of systemd you're going to get resoundingly negative feedback. Everyone here is tired of this "Fight the power!" crap with systemd. If you want to use an alternative to systemd then go for it---that's the beauty of Arch, and there are several other init/service management systems some hard-working folks have put together. But don't expect anyone here to hold your hand.

  • Replace org_organization_definitions with mtl_parameters

    Hi,
I need to replace org_organization_Definitions with mtl_parameters for performance reasons.. But as I see that OOD is a view and has some security applied through hr_organization_units, I doubt if I can directly replace OOD with MP as follows:
    Old:
    select organization_id from org_organization_definitions where organization_code in ('X','Y');
    New:
    select organization_id from mtl_parameters where organization_code in ('X','Y');
In some cases, "Old" query might not return a row due to restricted access to user through security profiles, but "New" might return which can cause incorrect results. Please correct my understanding and let me know if anyhave any alternative than including all base tables of the OOD view in "New" query
    Thanks !!

  • Remove/replace Gummiboot with GRUB?

Are their any how-tos / wiki on the best way to remove and replace gummiboot with GRUB. This is the closest discussion I could find (the opposite of what I'd like to do):
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=183210
I have Window 7 installed using bios to boot. Cannot change Windows 7 to UEFI to match Arch as Win7 uefi isn't supported on this laptop. (already tried as well)

I need boot menu where Arch GPT UEFI and Win7 MBR BIOS can coexist.
    Thanks!

Grub won't offer you to boot alternatively from UEFI and BIOS. Only the boot manager of your firmware can do that, if it supports it (my ASUS motherboard do) (to access it, I need to press F8 while the machine boot but this depends of your firmware) and you will have to choose the way you want to boot from your UEFI/BIOS. You will then need two bootloaders, one for BIOS, one for UEFI (you can use your Windows 7 bootloader to boot Windows). The reason of this is that is your firmware which decides to put your system in BIOS or UEFI mode and once it has decided in which system your computer should boot, a bootloader can't revert the decision. There are versions of grub for BIOS and for UEFI but there can't exist a single version allowing you to choose between the two systems.
If your firmware allow easily to switch between the two, you could:
    1) Partition your hard disk with an MBR (required for BIOS booting Windows 7), mark the Windows partitions bootable and install a standard MBR to the boot sector of your hard disk.
    2) Have an EFI partition (type ef00) with a UEFI bootloader (which may be gummiboot or grub, but it will necessarily be UEFI aware only, unable to start Windows 7) configured to boot archlinux.
This way a BIOS boot should boot windows 7 and an UEFI boot should boot archlinux. Now the feasibility of that depends of your motherboard (could you easily switch from UEFI/BIOS, does the firmware accepts to boot an UEFI system from an MBR partition?).
You could also boot archlinux in BIOS mode. You will not loose anything, given the fact that Linux don't currently really use UEFI or Bios once it is booted and both system can then be seen by the same bootloader (for example grub).
Note: to remove gummiboot, simply remove the package. Use efibootmgr (efibootmgr -b xxxx -B, where xxxx is the number shown by efibootmgr) to remove the boot entry. But read what I tell you before, no bootloader except the one of your firmware could allow you to choose between BIOS and UEFI booting.

  • Replacement Cables For SB 7.1 speaker system????????

    Hey there everyone,
I wanted to know if anyone knows where to find replacement cables for Creative Speaker Systems??
Let me know I have AIM SN Crash95x2
    or email @ [email protected]

I can't read good, I didn't see your hardware. My mistake.
I reinstalled my drivers, and that seems to have helped. I think it may have had something to do with Windows XP SP2 or my onboard sound, I don't know for sure though.

How do I delete the email address that Veriozon Wireless rep paired with my Droid and replace it with a different address?

The easiest way would be to go to menu>settings>accounts & sync, select the account (I'm assuming you're referring to your gmail account, so select google), then press the remove account button at the bottom.  You may lose all your contacts and other data associated with your google account, possibly even your apps, so be aware of this beforehand.  You can then add the new account from the accounts & sync menu.
If you are willing to completely start over with your phone, another alternative would be to factory reset it (menu>settings>privacy>factory data reset).  This will return your phone to an out-of-the-box condition, and you can use a different gmail address if you like.
