Replace content smart objects doesnt work properly.

Hello fellow Photoshoppers,
Currently i am working on reusable album templates with smart objects. At first i was very enthusiastic but this was soon to end. as the replacing doesnt work properly.
I made the smart object by using:
1. > file
2. > place
then i try to replace the content by using.
1. > layer
2. > smart objects
3. > replace contents
the old image should get replaced by the chosen file and matching size, smart layers etc. However when i perform the same actions my image gets replaced but it is not the same size as the smart object it replaced. This makes the entire template useless as it would take far too much time resizing every single image. inspired by another video I also tried double clicking the layer and tried replacing the image in the editing sceen by dragging another file on top of the smart object. Again, it does not spread out to the full smart object size and i'm stuck with a small image in need of extra work.
Needless to say, very frustrating.
Any thoughts?

That is an interesting question, i have no experience with photoshop as i bought CS5,5 just a week ago and have no experience with any of the previous versions either. All info regarding how to make such a template i found from various tutorials, i posted one below. When they do it the image get scaled perfectly. Now since they use some smart filters in the tutorial i applied them aswell to see if this would fix the problem but it did not.

Are the images you want to switch in at least always of the same width to height-relation?
I checked both files for consistency and discovered they were shot on different camera's. One file ( the origional smart object ) was cropped form a 21,0MP file and the other was croped from a 10,1 MP file. Both images were cropped to a 2x1 ratio. Having discovered the difference in pixel amount i cropped a different 21,0 MP file to 2x1 ratio and checked both files for their exact dimensions (both images are equal in size with 5616 x 2808 pixels) and replaced the content with the newly cropped file which gave a much better result. However, the image was slightly smaller in photoshop leaving a small gap where the origionally placed smart object lined up perfectly. I turned the situation around and placed the 10,1MP cropped image as the smart object and replaced the content by a 21,0 MP cropped image. As to be expected i ended up with a new image much larger then the smart object. So the smart object does not constrain the files to the dimensions set. As it turns out it only scales the replaced content relative to the size of the origional content of the smart object.
I just need a reusable template with objects that:
- cannot be moved once locked ( if possible) but can have its content replaced
- scales the replaced content to the predefined dimensions
- needs no prework like cropping to the same aspect ratio as the smart object content. ( i want to be able to place a landscape sized raw (3x2) on any landscape format (2x1 / 16x9 / 4x3 or whatever) i find it acceptable to having to crop a portret to landscape orientation first before being able to replace a landscape.
now ive been searching for more info and some people say indesign is much faster in making album pages so I am installing the program as we speak hoping this will be the solution.

How to replace a Smart object content with folder of JPGs

Greetings!
Sorry if that title is not clear. I have a cover design template (see example). The image is a transformed Smart Object. I want to streamline my workflow.
Say I have a folder of jpgs, and need to replace the smart object of the template with the new cover jpg, then save for web as a JPG comp. Repeat.
I already have a nice "scale layer to current canvas size" script from Michael L Hale. Which would be necessary in case the jpg is larger or smaller than the Smart object's content it will replace.
Any thoughts if this could be done?

Remember in that other tread I wrote you would need to take aspect ratio into account if you don't want distortion. You do not want distortion placing in images. You also do not want to place in all image in canvas size. If your images vary in size you do not want to replace the contents of a smart object layer for the smart object associated transform to work correctly you need the replace the embedded object with an object with exactly the same size of the original embedded object.
Also in that other thread I gave you code from one of my Photoshop Photo Collage Toolkit. You seem to be creating a collage. You man want to look at my Photo Collage Toolkit.
Templates are very easy to create for my Toolkit's scripts to work, You just need to follow four simple easy rules.
The Four Rules:
Size the photo collage templates for the print size you want - width, height and print DPI resolution.
Photo collage templates must have a Photoshop background layer. The contents of this layer can be anything.
Photo collage templates must have alpha channels named "Image 1", "Image 2", ... "Image n".
Photo collage templates layers above the background layers must provide transparent areas to let the images that will be placed below them show through.
So your template would be easy and look like this, Red rectangle outlines my scripts.
You would then use one of the scripts like interactive popopulate select the template then hit create collage
The script would the open the template copy it the go to full screen show you a cyan mask as to where the next image will be placed, And put you into an interactive select image dialog.
Once you select the script will place in the image resize and position it the put you in an interactive transform so you can tweak the position and size. The Populated collage will remain open in Photoshop.

I'm not even sure if I am to use the YouCam or media smart software. This is confusing, it worked the first time I used it then you cam wanted to update system andf now it says I have no webcam....it's built in.

Ejecting external discs doesnt work properly, no spin down of disc. why?

ejecting my external discs doesnt work properly anymore in 10.6, no spin down of disc happens, the finder unmounts the disc(s) and then the disc spins on and on. thats weird, because, in 10.5 i ejected discs and then they went spinning down the drive, as it has to be.
when i unplug the disc, which is unmounted from desktop, and still spinning, it makes a terrible noise in the disc. like a high pitched short tone.
any idea whats going wrong here?

you probably mean "causing the fail to spindown"
you maybe mean software like techtoolpro5 or drive genius3?
yes i disabled these helper apps on the discs, but first i used it (like monitoring
all discs if they are nearly full, or working s.m.a.r.t and so on. yes its useful,
but obviously it causes problems. i must mention, that i tested my 4 external drives again,
and i found out that i can eject all discs, like said before, but only 2 of the discs are spinning down, after ejecting, BUT only when i use the button "eject" in harddisctoolkit, they dont spin down, when ejecting from desktop (apple+E), and the other 2 of the 4 drives refuse to spin down, after ejecting, even with pressing eject in harddisctoolkit....
i can also state, that these 2 discs, which refuse to spin down, are FW800/400 discs and connected via FW800. and the 2 discs which spin down succesfully are UBS2 discs, if thats worth mentioning...

I have problem with my GX630, its doest work properly at W Vista 64 bit, exactly Sleep mode ... its imposible to awake my computer nd I have to turn it off and than on to wake it up ...
those buttons Turbo nd Eco mode doesnt work.
sometimes happen that i get blue error screen and reset but I dont know why ... it wrotes something with some .dll file ...
some people told me that its error is caused by that thing that there are no drivers for 64 vista yet ...

What is the BSOD error code? What .dll ? Write down the exact error.
Do you OC your notebook?

Can you replace embedded smart object with linked smart object?

Hi,
I'd like to update some document to reflet the new workflow that linked smart object provide. I have made some transformation on those embedded smart object and would like to not have to redo all those so is there anyway way to replace those SO with the linked version of the same SO?

Smart Actions not working properly after software update

My Razr updated 2 days ago and since then my Smart Actions are not working properly.
I have my Work action set to turn the volume down when I'm at a certain GPS. It shows that "Work" is active, but doesn't turn the volume down.
Also, there are times (since I've owned the phone) that it will not connect to the network after coming off a Wifi Connection without rebooting the phone. I took it into a Verizon store and they did a hard reset, and that fixed it for a time, but it started doing it again.
Any help appreciated.

Hi mcclainkb, Let's make sure your phone works as you expect it to! Have you tried removing the Smart Action and setting it back up again? Are your other GPS services working as normal? After the hard reset performed in the store did you install all of the same application that you had before?

My iphone 5 sleep button doesnt work properly. Need help where can i get it fixed

I bought my i5 in january from croma, delhi and last 5-6 days i am noticing that my sleep button is not working properly on the right side. I searched for solution on the net but all i got to know that this is a problem in iphone 5 and need to be replaced. And i have no idea how to get it fixed or where to contact to get it replaced. Need urgent help.

GoLive 8 Smart Objects not working

This is driving me nuts. I previously used Smart Objects in GoLive 7 without problems. Now whenever I try to use a Smart Object - like a PSD File for a Headline in GL8 I get an error message that "The task could not be completed. File not found" (this is my cumbersome translation actually) This is after the "Save for web..." dialog with all the GIF & JPEG settings.
Any clues? I store the PSDs in the SmartObjects folder in the website folder, and the filename doesn't contain any germanic umlauts or the like...

Weird things going on here. I have 3 iPad minis. All are first generation and two of them are running 8.1.2. On one of these the smart cover is no longer functional and the settings item "lock/unlock" is missing. On another running 8.1.2 the item remains in settings and the cover works. On the third I have not upgraded so it's still running 8.1.1 - the cover functions and the setting for "lock/unlock" is there. It seems one of these lost the setting during the upgrade, one did not, and I have not tried it yet on the third. I need this feature so hopefully there will be some communication from Apple on this issue.

Geforce 295GTX doesnt work properly.

I've bought a new 295GTX MSI. I uninstalled my previuos video card drivers, plugged in the new card. Everything boots up wel but once in windows Vista it detects the new hardware but could not recognize it. I installed the Nvidia drivers, they install fine but it's like it doesnt detect the card either. When i go and look to the properties its still using the default vista vga drivers. When I look at the properties there are only questionmarks at the brand name, chipset,... .
I reinstalled Vista but i still get the same bug. Tried it in Windows 7, still the same bug.
Tried it in another computer, still the doesnt work.
P.S.: All power cables are properly connected.
What can I do?

Hi Hansie! Give this a try; In 'Change or Remove Programs' (not sure if it is called that in Vista), Uninstall NVIDIA PhysX (if installed), NVIDIA Performance (if installed), NVIDIA Drivers - NVIDIA Display Driver only. Install NVIDIA Ver. 181.22 (use Aaron's link), & reboot, install NVIDIA Utility Package Ver. 6.03. In the NVIDIA Control Panel - 3D Settings - Set Multi GPU & PhysX - 'Enable' PhysX & Multi GPU Mode. Hopefully that fixes everything.

Smart cover not working properly after upgrade to iOS7

Since I upgraded my Ipad mini to iOS7 the smart cover stopped working as it was working before. Usually, when I closed the cover the ipad went to sleep and when I opened it the ipad woke up. Is it another problem of iOS7 ? Is there any solution?

Go to Settings > General > Lock / Unlock and turn this ON (Green).

.swf doesnt work properly

the movie includes about 40 scenes, and works properly, but
when i add another scene and place a 5min long movie clip on it,
most of the other scenes dont play, they stop at the first frame.
and no matter what i do with publish settings its always the same
story..what could i be doing wrong. could it be my computer..not
enough memory or something? i havent tried to export it on any
other computer.. help, please

When you say "40 scenes", just a quick question, have you
imported them directly on to the stage to play in the timeline or
imported your scenes dynamically using action script? If you have
imported your movie clips directly onto the stage, you might find
your pc may crash, especially, if you do not have a lot of memory.
believe it or not, a 5 minute movie clip can seem like a quite a
large in Flash. What also happens, your swf file needs to import
all your files before displaying them either onto your PC or on the
Web. If you do not have enough memory, it will take a long time to
play or ulimately crash. Try importing your movie clips
dynamically, using the NetConnection and NetStream in actionscript,
then all your swf file has only to import maybe your movie player
or the first movie, then whilst your user is viewing the rest of
your site, the other movies will not need to be viewed until your
user clicks on the available movie clip or link.

I trying long pound in standart application example.
My incoming call from pots, then i enter pin code and destination number.
I type pound key at ACTIVE status fsm machine and starts disconnecting process. When outgoing leg is disconnected, command media play streaming _reenter_dest.au in incoming leg (see it in debug), but i listen silence instead prompt voice.
I can continue entering destination number again, make call and talks, but since long pound detected, i have no voice prompt listning.
i tried some ioses, c5400-js-mz.124-9.T7 till c5400-js-mz.124-22.T, some other 124 line ioses, no one where long pound works.
In 123 ios line same application works properly.

The script I'm using, it won't let the call pass through, unless my rate table has the exact number I'm dialing. The rate table has a column called pattern, this where all my int code including the area code are there, and yet I get to put the whole as is to make the call, eg 00114427846789, etc..
If you can help please, the thing I need to know, do we control that from the script, or is it the billing itself?
